it’s time the industrial action is called off.

Anyway, Agriculture is life.

Fulani herdsmen rampaging and killing people in their farms have totally ruined the agricultural sector.

One would even think farms in the federal capital territory & urban regions should be safer. Just last month or so, a couple whose farm shares fence with federal Government FGC secondary school in Abuja was kidnapped right in their farm
Nigeria is bad news

Bro I now understand why a lot of people cry of liquidation in this group,,, they have not learnt to manage risk,,,
Let's say I have 200usd in my account and I want to trade Ethereum,, I want to long it and I want to risk 20usd only,, ...
where I put my stop loss, notice the bracket "(0.58%)"
This is the calculation:

To remove the percentage of (0.58%) to decimal
i.e
0.58÷100= 0.0058

Then

(Amount I'm risking ÷0.0058)
i.e 20usd ÷ 0.0058= 3,448.28(let's call this contract size)

To get the leverage= contract size ÷ my total trading amount
i.e 3,448.28÷ 200usd= 17.24

Therefore my leverage is 17X on this trade using this entry position to long Ethereum... using 200usd
on isolated marging and risking only 20usd should the trade hit my stoploss..........you can equally use it on other trades when going long or short and get either 2 or 3 risk to reward ratio which is 40usd or 60usd profit respectively

So the leverage used is useless if you have defined your risk using this long prediction tool... It could be 2X, 32X or 50X.....

I wish you happy liquidations.....
Leverage amplifies the movement in the relative prices of a currency or crypto pair by the factor of the leverage in your account. .

The more leverage you use, the more risky the trade, the less “breathing room” you have for the market to move before a margin call .

Risk management is very important.and the $100 example earlier, is an assumed scenario, $100 is the minimum margin deposit required by the exchange to maintain 2X, 32X, or 50x, 100x , etc
A$100 trade using 100x leverage will certainly get liquidated before a $100 trade using 2X leverage .
if somebody even owns $100, it is not advisable to use more than 20% of the total portfolio in trading for good risk management. Using 100% of portfolio capital to trade is never advisable. . The art of choosing where exactly to Place good stoplosses, and not using 100% of capital available to trade boils down to the individual traders choice and his preferable risk/reward ratio. How much of portfolio capital/ % of capital one is wiling to risk or forgo should the trade move against one. It is never advisable to use 100% available capital to trade. Good traders don’t even risk more than 1% of the capital in portfolio for trading. Good risk management cannot be overemphasized.
I personally employ very tight stop losses when trading, and keep the leverages at moderate level when trading just as l would advįse anyone to,,
But as stated earlier, if my neighbor wanna use 100X leverage , e not concern me. na lm business grin
So Happy trading evryone!

Again how do the leverage people use on their trade now an issue . Is there a format for using leverage now?
If BTC equals say 20k, price will need to drop 50% ie, BTC needs to fall to 10k for a position on 2X leverage (long futures or margins trading) to be liquidated.
Likewise, BTC needs to rise to 30k (50% price movement up) for a short position (futures) opened at BTC =20k using 2X leverage to get liquidated.
Etc.

The higher the leverage the greater the risk.

If BTC equals say 20k, price needs to drop to BTC = zero(move 100% down ) for 1x or no leverage trade position to be liquidated (margins or long futures or spot trading) and vice versa; 100% pump up to liquidate a shorts position opened at BTC=20k (about 40k for the short) ,etc. the greater the leverage, the greater the risk for all markets and high leverages are best suited for relatively less volatile traditional financial markets like stocks & forex. They are all volatile but crypto in comparison, ranks higher in volatility & is more speculative.
Good risk management is very helpful tho. I use Very tight stop losses to cut losses quickly & jump out of a losing trade before the whole position gets liquidated.
Other people’s leverage should not be an issue to anyone sha if it’s not their money the are using . grin
If anybody burn or liquidate, na Im business ooo grin

Bamboo, is that not a nigerian company? I fear nigerian companies especially when I plan to hold stocks or cryptos for more than 7yrs.
If you yourself decide to open a business today in addition to your regular paying job. Won’t you like people to patronize you? Are you not a Nigerian company? grin grin . That’s the point why some people choose to trade on an indigenous platform like bamboo (est. 2020) In addition to using foreign ones in saner climes like FTX (est. 2019) or Passfolio.(est. 2018). Indigenous firms are regulated by Nigerian government, pay tax to Nigeria government, thus adding to our GDP, you are thus growing the economy using their services.

Bamboo has surpassed all expectations, is waxing stronger and even expanded to Ghana & added Ghanaian clients to the platform.Anybusiness can fail sha and Nobody can promise you if a relatively new business will be here 10years from now. Bamboo is well insured. .
Say you didn’t buy china stocks, Your US stocks portfolio on invest bamboo is insured by the United States SIPC up to $500,000.

Your skeptism is understood tho, especially if you want to hold the stocks for more than 3years. You might want to buy more of your long term stocks on Passfolio headquartered in US of A & regulated by the USA government say 60% and 40% on indigenous platforms especially for the ones you wish to hold for one year or less and sell after APY to meet up with short term expenses.

If you a Nigerian abroad, say USA, you can easily walk into the office of Fidelity the largest stock brokerage firm in the United States, to purchase your Fortune 500 companies stock & Tesla stocks offline if that makes you feel better and safer. But the greater number of people outside the USA can buy USA shares of Wallstreet bluechip companies electronically through trading platform of an e-broker Although ebrokers don’t offer services like retirement planning or full service brokerage like making investment decisions on your behalf, etc.. Also, some eplatforms like Robinhood(est. 2013), etc are better adapted for those in the USA.
It’s a digital age. The world is a global village.Hopefully, in future there are more innovations and one is able to transfer stocks just like crypto, out of e trading platform to cold wallets and hot wallets outside the platform.

Profit for long term hodlers is virtually non-existent most of the time for ngn stocks. For a stock to be profitable in Nigeria over a 5 yr timeline, it must rise by at least 3x from where you bought it. I say this , based on calculating inflation at 21 percent for each of the five years. Toh, how many Nigerian stocks do that well for that long? The best way to play Nigerian stocks like one of my ogas told me is to enter quickly and exit within a few months. For ngn banking stocks, within a 2 yr timeline, if you time ya entry right, you can double ya money. Fbnh for instance moved from 3 naira in April 2016 to 14 naira on Jan 2018.
Ngn market, with our inflation right now, favours traders more than hodlers EXCEPT
if the person bought okomu oil, ucap, presco, vitafoam or betaglass in 2016 or 2020. In its entirety, there are not more than twelve stocks that have been in an overall uptrend since 2016. All the banking stocks are in some form of range-bound markets. You'd be surprised to know that not even Dangote cement or Dangote flour outperformed okomu oil or any of the companies i listed over these last 6 yrs. Dangote companies also trade in a RANGE. I have attached pics of the chart of some of the companies i listed below.

N/B : Right now is a bad time to buy okomu oil or any of the stocks i listed in the post. The global recession will take its toll on even the best of companies-- so the plan is to wait for any of these listed companies to drop by at least 50 percent then dca from then. NFA. DYOR
Profit for long term hodlers is virtually non-existent most of the time for ngn stocks. That is the keyword.
Looking at the charts attached, & the annual figures presented, united capital traded in a tight squeeze 2018 to 2020. For the better part & several months of 2021 to 22 tho, Okomu, presco and Dangote performed quite well at the upper percentile/Upper band of the Bollinger Band .
Nice advice from your oga. But different strokes for different folks .unless maybe someone gifted me ngn stocks on invest bamboo app stocks gift package, or gifted me stocks ownership certificate of Ngn stocks in my name,l personally cannot use my hard earned money to touch any of those yeye ngn stocks. The last generation is enough warning example. Especially those of us when we were still kids two decades ago, in 2000, 2001,2002, our parents excitedly invested over $1000 in early 2000s, buying those yeye naija stocks grin.
Even sb who 2012 invested just $100 In Bitcoin or Amazon is now over 20times richer than those who
Bought those yeye ngn stocks.
Even if it’s profitable in two years time frame, count me out. I nor Dey near. As a youth growing up in naija, nothing is surprising anymore. I won’t be shocked at all if by that two years time, God willing, l wake up one morning in that two years time, and one naira equal to 700naira today is sudddenly now 2000naira makes one dollar sef grin grin grin and Lai Muhammad’s or some Government economists & publicists explain it away with a national black swan event or even blame it on galloping inflation due to subsidy removal , (despite the fact that Dangote refinery is expected to stop importation of refined petroleum products to meet capacity shortfall gap in our national government refineries not operating at optimal for the sake of a few cabals.), and other Jargons

Even if the naija firm later made it to Forbes billionaires in dollars list, & reached $1 million market capitalization, somehow, stocks of 20k naira bought 20years ago, will be around 20k naira still or lesser (coupled with a more useless exchange rate using naira as a store of value.) Nah. Anything Ngn stocks. Count me out. grin . Different strokes for different strokes . l won’t hesitate in Ngn venture capital sha, investing in startups & buying undervalued businesses. I don’t mind Acquiring a percentage of majority stocks directly from a cofounder of African ngn businesses or buying undervalued ngn business tho & expanding. For eg, The owner of indigenous assembled in naija laptop computers zinox computers, recently acquired konga . Even shop rite Nigeria was acquired by another individual into supermarkets , Merton limited a subsidiary of naija persianas limited.

Believing in crypto and eating a loss of at least 50 percent are two different things. I believe btc is not going anywhere anytime soon- I just don't believe in eating unnecessary losses in an economic situation that will only get worse with the energy crisis caused by Russia plus worsening inflation levels in the USA and the EU nations.
A lot of people claim to be investors but when this type of loss (50-80 percent drop) happens, they will be the first to blame whoever suggested they invest in coin A or B - those are the people I am addressing with my statement about waiting till q2 2023 to consider DCA.
Finally, I totally agree with you that some altcoins will never ever return after this mini-depression is over. It happened in the tech bubble - history always has a way of repeating itself.
Next time put disclaimer to indicate the kinda people the advise targeted at. Fake investors who will start crying mummy daddy when huge drops happens & blaming whoever advised them to buy crypto A or B grin

Even if it drops 95% , There is not a loss until one sells the asset. This is especially true for DCA on spot market unless the value of the asset drops to Zero. If it is not realized, it is not ‘LOST’ , for a very good project on the spot market which hopefully, will have a rebound after extreme lows/crash unlike several rug pulls which abound.Just a little patience and your future self will thank you one or two or three or 5years from now, In the next superlative Bull run projected to be around May 2024 when the next Bitcoin halving event will take place , and the next crypto millionaires will emerge.

50-80% loss. So? Did one sell it?No? Then nothing lost.( Elsalvador comes to mind) Market is down now but we all know that shit going up in future.
Like l said earlier, would only advise newbies to buy BTC. Some of the rest alternate shit coins is just noise & will go extinct with the crash. Won’t forget rugpull ICP and more recently LUNA, in a hurry. DYOR

It is very dangerous to DCA right now sef. The last time we had a major tech bubble in the 2000's, amazon lost over 95 percent of it's value. It dropped from 5.6 dollars in December 1999 to 0.28 dollars in October 2001 - see the amzn chart below. I believe the market can show minor signs of recovery by June 2023. Some analysts like Harry dent jr are predicting 2024 as the best time to buy. TIme will tell - the best thing to do as an investor is to wait till Q2 2023, by then, things will be a lot clearer than they are now.
Amazon lost over 95% of its value 2001 from 5.6dollars.
Amazon stock costs about $127.82 today September 4th 2022 , over 2000% increase .
And Jeff Bezos formerly richest man I n the world & from 2017 to 2021 second richest person in the world, ( Although wealth later split no thanks to his divorce,) is still among TOP 10 richest billionaires (in dollars) on earth, THANKS TO AMAZON .
Amazon today is among the BIG FIVE American information technology companies today alongside Microsoft, Meta, Apple and Alphabet. Amazon stood the internet bubble and is still standing tall and proud today. Jeff Bezos and all share holders had the last laugh.
Yes it lost over 95% value in 2001. The ultimate question is Did it rebound? Did it stay down ever after it got knocked down?
You might want to buttress your point by citing case of LUNA which lost over 95% of its value, has no bearing today, wobbling ever after and all agreed It was a rug pull.
Take it or leave it, like sb correctly said and l quote it’s either you believe in crypto or you don’t.
No better time to DCA on the king himself Bitcoin BTC than now. I would only advise one to be careful of some of these alternate shit coins. Some alternate shit coins went into total oblivion last BTC 2018crash & never resurrected ever again. DYOR

Fulanisation agenda. They want to make nomadic fulani indigenes of southern and north central states. In the year 2095, indigenes would become minority in some places. Kaduna, jos north are examples. Russia did it in Ukraine- donbass and crimea.
Yes they want to make nomadic Fulani Nigerians-indigenes of southern and north central states closer to their porous border. These people will not rest until this country is totally fulanised. Any Fulani nomad who wandered with his cows from Mali, Mauritania or elsewhere without valid travel documents to graze the cows in kogi or Bauchi will now claim statelessness and be granted citizenship thus becoming indigenes of those states & local governments they went to graze cows. From there thy breed more in the land, populate a portion of the region, start dragging lands with aborigines and will also start dragging for representation of fulanis in House of assembly .This is their plan.to flood the country with fulanis, grant all citizenship, fulanise/Islamize Nigeria.

You cannot compare this with the Russian Crimea or Donbass case sha. It’s quite different and more sensitive. Donbass in today Ukraine is mainly a Russian language speaking region. Despite Ukrainian being official language in Ukraine, over 70% of residents in Donetsk, Ukraine & 68% in Luhansk, Ukraine speak Russian according to 2001 census. Mali, Mauritania etc these stateless guys are flooding from was never part of Nigeria. Ukraine , just like Georgia,Lithuania,Latvia, Estonia, etc was a part of USSR with capital Moscow in the past. (Only Biafra or Yoruba nation should it secede in 2095, canbe called a part of Nigeria in the past for a similar analogy.)

The Russian crimea, Donbass case is a very sensitive matter erupting extreme reactions from all quarters since their history is intertwined. Take one of the founding fathers of Kherson,a city in Ukraine for example, IVAN GANNIBAL(1735-1801) and proudly listed among their heroes Past NOTABLE PEOPLE OF KHERSON UKRAINE IN ITS WIKIPAGE. He was born in ESTONIA, USSR, helped found the USSR city of Kherson in southern Ukraine, in 1779, was Buried in a Cemetery in Saint Petersburg. His father, was Abram Gannibal, who was brought to Tsar of Moscow from Africa and gifted as a servant to Peter the great to serve in his palace, was adopted by Peter the great as godson, rose to great heights in Russia empire under the Tsar, & his son IVan was a successful military man.

The Russian Crimea, Donbass case is quite sensitive with their history intertwined. They are like a case of father and children fighting each other. They should learn to compromise, carry out peaceful negotiations, conduct referendums and stop this unnecessary war.

Is it to show your love her?
Is it to win public sympathy?
Is it to tell the world you are free?

Would she have wanted the publicity?

Some private issues such as mourning a wife or husband should be kept in private space.
As grown ups we need to set boundaries between our private lives and public issues.
Enough said.

FamilyRe: My Younger Brother Wants To Finance My Wedding. by Truthshotcrazy:
Kobojunkie:
I am not of the "indomie" generation as I am instead one of the ancients even here on Nairaland. I don't buy into your traditions, your marriage traditions included, as I prefer a commonsense approach that eliminates division, even in marriage, along gender lines. No matter how cheap you claim your bride prices to be, it doesn't eliminate the fact that it is widely considered a price paid in order to claim ownership over another human being and that is unacceptable, whichever way you choose to cut it. undecided

Anyways, irrespective of how cheap you claim the bride price to be, marriage is not recognized as legally binding in Nigeria unless it is registered in the courts. As such, in this case, the man and woman save a lot by going to the courts straight. Should they at a later date decide to pay the bride price and eat kola, they can also do that too . undecided
Maybe brideprice in your culture is done to claim ownership. I do not buy into your tradition or culture, marriage inclusive. Different strokes for different folks. Besides, l am not sure we speak same African language.
Brideprice/dowry of twenty naira only forever in my African culture(a tribe in niger delta region),, is done to signify there was a formal introductionof groom, and bride’s family , gave their blessings, were consulted and are aware their daughter has been married off.
Humans do not live in isolation but in society. Women in my African Nigerian culture even of age 50 or 60, or 70yo are grouped as maidens if that twenty naira dowry is not paid, & they are not allowed to participate in the tribe or town’s social group for women of the tribe or forums for women activism. Nor are they elected to hold positions meant for women of the tribe .
They are regarded as *maidens or girls of the tribe*, directed to maidens group, until the twenty naira bride price/dowry is paid. Mind you, We have women from my tribe actively involved in politics, appointed to public offices, holding important positions in Nigeria and even the tribes group coalitions in diaspora.

A marriage is legally binding once it is registered in court. And it is important to register especially to protect women in case the husband stubbornly decides not to pay child support or in-laws decide to play smart and chase a widow out of her husband’s property, the court is to seek redress and compensation.Traditional/customary Wedding, is legal in Nigeria provided it is registered within a month of celebration. All church weddings come with registered marriage certificates from the ministry.

Most people just opt for traditional wedding ceremony, or church wedding ceremony and reception or go to court without ceremony after formal introduction to bride’s family, paying bride price. Some choose to hold the informal introduction to the in-laws, head to court before paying the bride price/dowry of twenty naira.

Nevertheless, a marriage is not recognized as customarily binding unless the in-laws have done the formal introduction and the bride price of twenty naira has been paid. The formal introduction of the groom’s family to the bride’s and paying of bride price is very important. The woman’s peer group or even groom’s family won’t mock her that her Bride price has not been paid. It’s a thing of pride among the women. .

Even so, not only bride price, beyond marriage, my culture has annual obligatory women and men of the town’s social group fee and married women and men , sons and daughters are expected to pay annually.
My own father (late) never paid a dime, especially since he wasn’t interested in politics or seeking support of his towns people for public office/appointment , but when he died in ripe old age and we took him to bury, we had to pay the cumulative lump sum of his customary annual dues to the town’s men meeting group before we could bury him.
( lt might interest you to know that my village king is even a former member House of Rep, representing the constituency years before he was crowned king .Clansmen and women interested in politics, leading branch coalition groups for the tribe in their cities or in diaspora or getting recommendations for community quota in communal projects, dont play with these customary fees/dues).

I am simply stating that in this case, the man and woman should simply go for court marriage and forget bride price nonsense, save themselves the headache since once their marriage is registered in court, no tradition can deny it. undecided

Marriage is an agreement between a man and a woman. So once a man and woman decide to get married, they are free to register their marriage agreement in the courts, irrespective of the opinions of family members..
In this case, I see no reason to waste money on traditional rites when a lesser cost and more common sense option exists and it is court marriage. undecided

This indomie generation sef. Always looking for lesser cheapest cost ánd pricing haggling things to last kobo. How much is bride price sef?. In my African Nigerian culture, the real bride price/dowry is just *twenty naira only * forever. They do this so no one would later say the bride was sold like market goods.
Funny thing is After all the list, consisting of things like palm oil ,goats, wine, wrapper, kolanuts, cash sum like 300k or more or less to chew & swallow the kolanut very well (negotiable depending on groom’s financial capability), wink cheesy. should the marriage collapse tomorrow/divorce,
Only the official bride price/dowry of twenty naira is returned.
Some couples these days don’t hold any traditional marriage rites or party . They just go for the formal introduction of groom to family, pay the Bride price, bring kolanuts and head to court. Not everybody is comfortable subjecting his wife to humiliation or ridicule and disrespect among peers that husband could not pay *twenty naira* . That bride price/dowry of twenty naira is a thing of pride to an African wife and l want her to be happy.
Different strokes for different folks. This is 21st century.
As for me, if l end up marrying any woman african daughter of eve, l would go for the formal introduction to bride’s family, pay bride price, bring kolanuts and head to court for court marriage or church for church wedding without any traditional marriage ceremony rites/ traditional marriage party.I detest it so much. Besides l cannot tie wrapper.
But if l end up with a fellow man with dick like myself, just like my great great mentors Edafe Okporo And Bisi Alimi,, l will conduct only court marriage strictly court marriage without any introduction nonsense to spouse family or seeking spouse family approval nonsense /blessings to go ahead nonsense. The law of the land is the best always and holds good and true and is all that is good and sufficient enough irrespective of the blessings of or opinions of family members. Once the marriage is registered in Court, no tradition can deny it.God bless America and God Save the Queen.

When in Rome do as the Romans do... they have their laws and standards .... abide with them or face the consequences. I don't see why the US should have anything to say on the matter.... after all ... would the same human rights be allowed if a Saudi in the US decided to marry 3 wives? What if he's charged and sentenced for bigamy .... and the Saudi President rushes to the White House to condemn the charge claiming the man has the human right to marry more than one wife? Hypocrisy everywhere.
The Usa is confused. Man can marry fellow man with dick And woman can marry fellow woman with breast. But not more than one sexual partner at a given time.
It’s only theoretical in the books and legislation but not practical for Muslims.Doesn’t stop Muslims from marrying several virgins at once especially if they weren’t forced or raped. They know how they get around the laws quietly with their Muslim wives without causing a scene.USA is not a terrorist country. and most Muslims can live quietly with their Islamic wives peacefully, treating them equally. Some are married under Islamic religous ceremonies and the first wife under government laws. E nor concern state who Muslim man they f**k so long as the Muslim women wives not complaining. An estimated 50 000 Muslims have multiple wives in the usa. You don’t expect the USA to use tax payers money to pursue them or intrude their private lives so long the Muslim women are not complaining,, were not forced or raped or abducted but entered voluntarily of their own volition.

So you will be cool with it if your girlfriend tells you she can date as many guys as she want since you have not paid her bride price?
Girlfriend who has officially broken up with me
is free to date whoever she wants. Norbe crime. Even some previously legally married people who are officially divorced choose to remarry afresh. Nor be crime. Even God does not interfere with our free will. Forcing, coercing or tearfully and persisently begging someone who is clearly no longer interested in you, to be with you, against their free will is witchcraft.
One shouldn’t be sweating over new partners they chooose to date especially if the new romantic partners of ex are not siblings or blood relations.

The guy seeking advice clearly indicated the girl indicated she no longer interested and they broke up . so she shouldn’t date who she wants again because they have broken up.
Mtchew not like they were even married .
Even Churchill previously legally married to and divorced from tonto dike,,is now remarried to his secretary. So?? Because choir leader na my Ex-girlfriend, l should not follow choirmember?? cheesy

All these things are only common in Nigeria.
But I strongly disagree with number 6.
I never going for a job interview sometime 2019 and we were all given refreshments and it was a huge one. It is company policies and you trying to act meet doesn't add anything to your resume.

Just be cultured that is it.

Low self esteem due to bad labor market policies. If you are traveling outside Nigeria, you will need to change your mindset against some of these attitudes to interviews. A job candidate who keeps to themselves and refuses to mix freely with the other candidates is seen as a red flag in developed labor markets.

If they offer you tea over there, you’re supposed to say, yes please thank you. You are allowed to have a quiet chat with the other candidates. This is old school interview tactics driven by scarcity mentality. Gen Z are changing the way things are done.

So you mean you would go to an interview with an eccentric tech cofounder and he will offer you tea and you will refuse it? It’s like you think that this one is a civil service or old Bank of the North interview. Abi you are confusing this with meeting your in laws.
Don’t mind the Op Biko. Taking tea or coffee is 100% polite in developed climes Especially in places or cultures with cold weather during the Harsh winter months, When the interviewee might have battled the chilling cold snow to get to the venue and might be shivering. It is not polite tho, to step out for a quick smoke at the venue to warm up no matter how cold or stormy the chilly winter.
Op should have added that if a prospective interviewee in developing shitholes like zoogeria grin is uncomfortable with accepting tea or coffee before the interview, he can refuse the tea offered and request for Water instead .
