PoliticsAbeere Ede/ Abeere Osogbo: Open Letter To Governor Adeleke by tsirin(op): 10:48am On Jan 07, 2023
Abeere Ede/ Abeere Osogbo: Open Letter to Governor Adeleke

His Excellency,
Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke
The Executive Governor of Osun State.

HE Sir,

LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR
ABERE: OSOGBO VS EDE LAND SCUFFLE

I am writing to implore HE. to reconsider any proposal to concede the Abere land to Ede town. It is my belief that this land should be granted to Osogbo town, the state capital, rather than to Ede.

I would not like to dive into the issue of who is the original owner of the land just yet, but leave it to the appropriate elders to slug it out. But I would like to address the several compelling reasons why Osogbo is a more suitable recipient of the Abere land.

Firstly, as the state capital, Osogbo plays a crucial role in the governance and development of the entire state. It is home to numerous vital government agencies and institutions, and is a center of economic activity. By granting the Abere land to Osogbo, you would be supporting the growth and advancement of the town and its people.

Secondly, Osogbo has a larger and more diverse population than Ede. This means that the land would be put to better use and benefit a greater number of people if it were granted to Osogbo. Furthermore, Osogbo has a rich history of cultural and economic ties to the Abere land, which would be further enhanced by this decision.

Finally, I believe that Osogbo is better equipped to handle the responsibilities and challenges that come with owning and developing the Abere land. The town has the necessary infrastructure and resources in place to effectively manage and utilize the land for the benefit of its residents. Conceding the Abere land to Ede can only mean one thing, which is that Ede is now the state capital of Osun State and not Osogbo.

In conclusion, I urge HE. with the utmost sincerity to reconsider the proposal to concede the Abere land to Ede town. I implore you to grant it to Osogbo, the state capital and maintain status quo, instead. I am confident that this would be in the best interests of the state, and would support the growth and development of Osogbo, Osun State and its people.

Here are several additional reasons why the office of the governor should be situated at the state capital, Osogbo, and not Ede a neighboring town:

Centralization of government functions: By locating the governor’s office at the state capital, all government functions can be centralized in one place. This makes it easier for citizens to access government services and for government agencies to collaborate and work together.

Improved efficiency: Having the governor’s office at the state capital allows for easier communication and coordination among government officials and agencies. This can lead to improved efficiency and decision-making processes.

Symbolic importance: The presence of the governor’s office at the state capital symbolizes the importance and central role of the capital in the state. It also serves as a symbol of the unity and cohesion of the state.

Economic benefits: The presence of the governor’s office at the state capital can bring economic benefits to the capital city, such as increased job opportunities and economic development.

Accessibility to the governor: By locating the governor’s office at the state capital, citizens from all parts of the state have equal access to the governor and can easily petition or seek an audience with him or her.

In summary, the office of the governor should be situated at the state capital to centralize government functions, improve efficiency, symbolize the importance of the capital, bring economic benefits, and ensure accessibility to the governor for all citizens.

Thank you for considering my views on this crucial matter.

Sincerely,
Prince Adeniyi Adebayo
(Akanni Omooba)

You’re hearing from devil, not God, Adeleke replies Oyetola

By Bola Bamigbola

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has urged his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, to stop listening to the devil’s whispering on a possible return to office as governor.

Adeleke said this while reacting to Oyetola, who, while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress at a prayer session organised to welcome him to the state in Osogbo, said he heard from God that he would return to office as governor and that the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, would be elected president.

A statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, on behalf of Adeleke, then declared that, “God is of justice, equity and honesty, not of electoral banditry and deceit.

“The holy books even noted that the devil’s whispering is real and no one should mistake the voice of the devil for God. Our Almighty God has spoken resoundingly in favour of a new Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke. Mr Oyetola should better be reading ‘auzubilahi mina shaytani rajeem’ so he could hear the true voice of God – that a new leader is anointed by divine will for Osun people.”

Reminding Oyetola that there was life after losing the election, Adeleke affirmed that Osun people have moved and were at the moment started enjoying “a new governance of openness, accountability, and responsiveness to yearnings and aspirations of the citizenry.

“Osun has launched a new chapter. This new leadership has returned state power to the people who are now feeling the new air of government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Never will Osun be returned to the years of the locust.”

Yuletide: Osun fails to provide free train service

Bola Bamigbola

For the first time since 2011, the free train service sponsored by the Osun State Government for holidaymakers travelling to the state from Lagos and Ogun to celebrate Christmas and the New Year was not provided.

The initiative, introduced by the administration of a former governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola, ran throughout his tenure as governor.

His successor, Adegboyega Oyetola, also maintained the tradition when he became the governor in 2018.

Checks by Sunday PUNCH revealed that the Oyetola administration had commenced plans towards the free train service before the government exited on November 25, when Senator Ademola Adeleke was inaugurated as the new governor.

It could not, however, be immediately ascertained why the free train service, said to have been initiated by a former commissioner for commerce and industry, Dr Bode Olaonipekun, was discontinued by the Adeleke administration.

When contacted on Friday, the spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, promised to ask relevant officials of government on what was being done regarding the initiative.

Subsequent calls to his mobile phone line did not go through and he had yet to reply to a text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report on Saturday.

tsirin:
Six injured as hoodlums attack ex-commissioner, Adeleke fingered

By Bola Bamigbola

Ex-Osun State Commissioner for Works, Mr Remi Omowaiye, and his team were on Friday reportedly attacked by some suspected hoodlums at Isida Area of Ilesa, Osun State.

Omowaiye who spoke to The PUNCH said those behind the attack were known thugs working for the Peoples Democratic Party, adding that six people were injured, while two vehicles in his entourage were also damaged during the incident.

Explaining further how the incident occurred, Omowaiye said he had done to the area to give Christmas packages to traders in Isida Market.

The ex-Commissioner said, ” I left my office about 5 pm and we went to Ibala market where I gave them a cow and six bags of rice. I left there and went to Isida market, (Ilesa) when I got there, I gave them the cow and their six bags of rice and it was during that process, we saw some PDP thugs coming from different angles and started throwing stones and bottles.

“A few minutes after, they stabbed one of our youth leaders and one other boy named Tosin. Then, we started hearing gunshots and everyone scrambled to safety.

“In the process, my security men tried to move me into another vehicle. I was in a Venza and they smashed the windscreen of the Venza.

“My Highlander was riddled with bullets and the screens badly damaged. So, we had to just scramble for safety. We went straight to the police station because we saw that a lot of people have been injured and we didn’t want to take the laws into our hands.

“I heard one of the voices saying they are acting on the instruction of the governor. So, the governor should face governance and stop attacking us. We have an election in February and I know what they want to do is to intimidate a lot of us to leave the State and we are not going to do that. If anything should happen to us, Governor Adeleke should be held responsible. About six people sustained various levels of injuries but no life was lost. Two cars were damaged.”

Reacting, the Director of Media of Osun PDP, Oladele Olabamiji, said the allegation against Adeleke and his party was untrue, saying Omowaiye should be investigated for making such a claim.

Olabamiji said, “with the way Nigerian political thugs operate, do you think somebody will just come out and say ‘I’m acting on the instruction of the governor and I’m here to attack you on behalf of the governor? That is too petty and it’s coming from someone who found himself in a position of privilege. That has been the way he operates.

“To me, he knows he has exhausted all his goodwill in Ijesaland. Prior to the last gubernatorial election, he was terrorizing people with thugs in Ilesa and perhaps, he is conscious of possible repercussions. I understand he has not stepped foot in Ilesa since his party lost that election.

“The information I got was that yesterday, he surrounded himself with police and thugs and think he should go to Ilesa and show people he has not run away and he felt the only way to announce himself was to start shooting sporadically, especially, while traders were holding their meeting at the market.”

Can Nigeria ever be better than this?

On July 16th, when I was wondering why will Oyetola lose his election, after all, that he has done for the state.

I was so sober and concluded well, maybe my people wanted to give it a try to Demola Adeleke.

A friend of mine called me from Abia state and asked Reformer why will a sitting governor lose his election.

I said I don't know, he said none of the governors from the East can lose their election cheaply like this oooo. I said ok and I caught the phone.

Yesterday, it was so glaring that a sitting governor was robbed, and it was so glaring that there was overvoting in some polling units, especially in Ede.

And I have come to conclude that, if Oyetola had wanted to win back the state on the ballot he would have won. If Oyetola had wanted to use the South East method to win his re-election on the ballot he would have won.

Oyetola didn't promote thugs in his government, Oyetola didn't want innocent blood to be wasted.

All he wanted was how to clear the debts, pay the salary and do some developmental projects.

Let me drop my pen here, as we await the tribunal's judgment.

Over-voting exist only in six polling units — Gov Adeleke’s witness confirms

– As Governor, PDP closes cases, Tribunal adjourns till January for final address

Shina Abubakar, Osogbo

A witness, Samuel Oduntan, who testified on behalf of Governor Ademola Adeleke has told the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that over-voting took place only in six of the 749 disputed polling units.

Former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenged the declaration of Governor Adeleke as the winner of the July 16 governorship poll in the state.

At the resumed hearing of the petition, Oduntan, a Statistician and Forensic Examiner, while being led in evidence by Alex Iziyon, SAN, said he conducted a forensic analysis of the BVAS machine and analysed the result with forms EC8A series to draw his report.

“Under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, I conducted the forensic analysis of BVAS machines, I then analysed the result with form EC8A series. My report didn’t determine who won or lost. I only gave the figures. I observed over-voting in 6 polling units. I was paid for the job. But it does not affect the figures and facts in my report”, he said.

Under cross-examination by petitioner’s counsel, Akin Olujinmi, SAN, the witness while being confronted with his witness statement and the BVAS report (Exhibit RBVR) on accreditation figure in Ward 4, unit 7, he said, “in my witness statement, page 7, serial number 138, the accreditation figure as extracted on BVAS machine is 388, but on exhibit RBVR it is 313”.

He also disclosed that in some polling units with many voters, more than one BVAS machine can be used but only one form EC8A is deployed to the polling unit, adding that every BVAS machine has an identifier which states the polling unit it was used, and disclosed that BVAS machine cannot be reconfigured for any other purpose than election.

Meanwhile, the Personal Assistant to Governor Adeleke, Bunmi Jenyo also testified before the Justice Tertse Kume-led tribunal and tendered his (Adeleke’s) certificates before the court.

The petitioner’s counsel expressed objection against the admissibility of the document and reserved their objection to the written address stage before the tribunal admit the documents as read in the exhibit.

Jenyo disclosed that Adeleke obtained Diploma from PenFoster College on July 16, 2021, and a Certificate from Metropolitan college on August 9, 2021.

“The difference between the days the two certificates were issued in just 24 days. I have never worked as an admission officer in any University in the US but the system is open to people globally with cumulative Academic activities to move from one institution to another”, he said.

Meanwhile, counsel to the PDP, Alex Iziyon, SAN, opened his case and said he will not be calling any witnesses, having relied on evidence from other respondents’ witnesses.

He however tendered from the bar, eight documents already submitted to the panel.

Consequently, Justice Kume adjourned the tribunal sitting till January 13, 2023, for the adoption of the final written address.

A Deputy Director, Information Communication Technology with the Independent National Electoral Commission, Abimbola Oladunjoye, on Wednesday said there was ‘seemingly over-voting’ in some polling units in the July 16 Osun state governorship poll.

Oladunjoye, a witness for INEC, the first respondent in the matter, who was under cross-examination by the petitioners’ lead counsel, Mr Akin Olujinmi (SAN), was shown her witness statement, where the number of accredited voters in a polling unit in Ede South contradicted the number of accredited voters on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System report presented by INEC.

The witness, in her deposition, had said the number of accredited voters in Ward 4 Unit 7, Ede South was 388, but in the RBVR, being a BVAS report tendered by INEC, the number of accredited voters was put at 313, saying there was seemingly over voting by 75.

The counsel also referred the witness to paragraph 21.36 of her witness statement, where the accreditation figure was put at 830, but on the BVAS report, the accreditation figure was said to be 793.

Oladunjoye in paragraph 26.7 of her witness statement also said the accreditation figure in a unit was 402, but on the BVAS report, the accreditation figure was said to be 263, saying there was seemingly over-voting by 139.

But under re-examination by INEC’s counsel, Prof Paul Ananaba (SAN), Oladunjoye explained that she used the word ‘seemingly over-voting’ because over-voting could not be established until when comparison was made between figures on Form EC8A and the physical data on BVAS machine used for the election.

Adeleke Vs DSS: How Yeye Dupe Instigated Brother To Revolt.

By Princewill Press

…As DSS HQ refuses her overture to get director replaced

…How she instigated brother, Gov Adeleke to revolt

More facts have emerged as to why the elder sister of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Mrs. Dupe Sani is angry with the Department of State Services, DSS.

In a statement released by an Osun-based Socio-political group, Osun Shall Rise Again, OSRA, and signed by its Chairman, Lanre Akeju and Secretary, Saheed Bakare, the group maintained that the refusal by DSS headquarters to get the Osun Director of DSS replaced the same way they got the State’s Police Commissioner, Olaleye replaced was what infuriated Mrs. Dupe.

“We are therefore calling on the DSS headquarters in Abuja not to dance to their tune.

“They are secretly raising a killer squad. CP Olaleye refused to play boy. They pressed botton and got him transferred. Although, the Police is still awaiting the approval of the Police Service Commission to approve of the transfer formally, while that was on, they wanted the DSS director too out, so they could get official cover for their nefarious activities. But the DSS headquarters was said to have refused their overture. And so they resorted into bullying the DSS officials attached to the Governor, an action that led to the withdrawal of the personnel from him.

“We urge the DSS operatives to commission a thorough profiling of the Governor’s Chief of Staff and his CSO, one CSP Omoyele. You will realise that their only expertise is in the coordination of political thugs. He was on record to have warned the thugs when CP Olaleye was still in Osun to behave themselves because the CP would not condone their excesses. He assured that a CP that would do their bidding would soon be posted. Also, CSP Omoyele has several murder cases hanging on his neck, the latest is the killing of two persons in Ede, including a pregnant mother on the orders of a PDP chieftain.

“True is to his assertion, apart from the fact that their political thugs openly jubilated when the appointment of CP Longe was announced, as replacement for CP Olaleye, they have so far killed four innocent Osun citizens within just one week of the announcement.

“This is why we see the DSS as last line of defense to save Osun from being plunged into avoidable political violence,” the group added.
