EX-PARTY CHAIR ADEBIYI, SALINSHILE, AKANO LED POLITICAL THUGS TO INVADE OSUN APC SECRETARIAT, ONE INJURED


There was pandemonium at the Osun State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) early today as some principal members of the splinter group of the party, The Osun Progressives(TOP), led some cudgel-wielding thugs to invade the secretariat.

Notable among the TOP chieftains who led the political thugs among who were men and women are the State Secretary of the party, Alhaji Razaq Salinshile; former state chairman of the party who is the self-styled TOP chairman, Elder Lowo Adebiyi and Barr Gbenga Akano, former Special Adviser in the Administration of ex-state Governor Rauf Aregbesola who is the current Minister of Interior.

It was learnt that the political thugs laid siege to the state party secretariat in the early hours of the day, beating, harassing and destroying everything and everybody in sight.

Some of the thugs were seen forcefully removing Governor Gboyega Oyetola-inscribed fez caps from the heads of some of the APC members in the secretariat amidst chanting of anti-Oyetola songs while singpraising Aregbesola.

During the melee, an APC member who put on an Oyetola-inscribed fez cap was assaulted and wounded to the extent that the blood of the Oyetola supporter littered the ground floor of the secretariat.

The five-member Appeal Committee of the party's ward congress held across Osun State few days ago were forcefully held hostage for about an hour in the office of Director of Administration of the secretariat.

It took the intervention of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Olokode, before the committee members led by Ambassador Obed Wazzan(Chairman) could be convinced that the venue was safe for them to carry out their statutory duties.

The committee chairman who later addressed the rampaging political thugs led by the TOP chieftains assured them that his committee would be fair to all and sundry.

Meanwhile, the committee is now busy attending to the submitted petitioners at the state party secretariat while the TOP political thugs were still laying siege to the place as at the time of filing this report.

Other members of the Osun APC Ward Appeal Committee are Barr Femi Odufowokan(Secretary); Comrade Jude Fakorede(member); Mrs Seun Bosede Osamaye(member) and Dr Nankin Bangudu(member)

. Urges security operatives to take charge

Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, has again appealed to the members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State to give peace a chance and allow the ongoing appeal process run its full course.

He also condemned what he termed the “unruly behavior” exhibited by some aggrieved members of the party at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, saying no sane society would condone any act of lawlessness.

The governor has therefore directed security operatives to take charge of the party secretariat to prevent any further break down of law and order.

Oyetola who sympathised with individuals who sustained injuries, called on security operatives to fish out perpetrators and ensure justice was served.

In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, on Saturday, the Governor noted that Osun and its people are known for peace and urged all to avoid acts that could tarnish the State’s reputable image.

He further noted that political intolerance was injurious to the unity and collective peace of the State.

While appealing for calm, the Governor also said that government would not tolerate any act of criminality or violence in any part of the State under the guise of politics or any guise whatsoever.

“I appeal to party members, especially those who have already filed their petitions before the Appeal Committee over the conduct of the last Ward Congress in the State to sheathe their swords and toe the line of peace and the law.

“Since the matter is already before the Appeal Committee, they should allow the process to run its full course. We are known for peace as a people. We should do all in our power to sustain that recognition in our collective interest,” the Governor said.

Send a mail to the student aid department asking for help and available options for you to explore.
I think you should begin to look out for other sources of funding. Also, its possible to secure a GA from another department. You can reach out to graduate coordinators of other programs to see if there are openings. Some have openings that they don't advertise. Its all about convincing them of your competence.
And be patient. Many departments usually have openings as fall semester draws closer.
Lastly, check to see if your school has a page where they post vacancies for students. BGSU has such. And I think others too.

Thugs belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party have reportedly disrupted voting and snatched ballot boxes in Ward 9, Unit 1 and Unit 2, Iba Village in Ifelodun Local Government of the state of Osun.

According to information, the thugs caved into the polling unit and carted away votes belonging to the APC replacing it with the PDP.

As at the time of the violence, no security agents were seen at the area.

Reports say the Military have since intervened.
