no fix price,it depends on the farmer so breeds matter most u don't expect large white breeds to be dsame price with a concoction breeds, a good weaners price starting from 5k grower like 8k upward while breeder stock are more expensive

While I wake to the cool and serenading morning in this secluded part of the world and after much thinking over the night on what issues of relevance to write about, an idea came to my mind, why not discuss France (yes,France), inspired by the CNN report about the issue of the politicisation of the Burkini or Burqini, which is a swim suit that incorporates the designs of both a Bikini and a Burqa (a face-covering garment/veil for muslim women) as invented by Aheda Zanetti.

France has been in the news for quite some time, albeit for the wrong reasons, for the past two years. From the Charlie Hebdo attacks on the satirical magazine publishers and editors,to the attacks on Bastille day in Nice that claimed many lives, France has had it fair share of terror-related attacks in the past 2 years. These attacks have led France to declare a state of emergency for 3 months and has been recently extended. However, the issue i want to discuss with my esteemed readers (albeit few, cracks a smile) is the ban placed on the Burkini.

France, a country founded on the tripartite values of Liberte, Egalite and Fraternite, which translates as Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. The famous Landmark Statute of Liberty, which is the universal symbol of Freedom and Democracy ,that adorns the Liberty Island of New York gifted to the US by France, sums up the belief of the French in the principles of Democracy and Liberty. That being said, the recent politicisation, ban and crackdown on the use of the burkini, has generated a lot of debate on the use of the Burqini in France. The argument of the French authorities is that the wearing of the Burqini doesn't make fellow citizens of France feel safe. The French authorities also perceive that the wearing of the Burkini will erode the principle of the secularity of its State, but in the light of recent happenings in both Canada and Scotland, where the wearing of the Burqa or face veil has been considered as optional even in their police force, the debate is ' Is France overreacting to the use of the burqini?' 'does the wearing of the Burqini pose a threat to French security, values and freedom'? I guess i will let my esteemed readers and the world at large decide on that. When the issue of the budget padding scandal started in the House of Representatives I had a conversation with a friend that the fact that a person is the first person to report a matter to the police doesnt absolve the person of the alleged crime, well our lawmakers have argued back and forth that budget padding isnt a crime, the jury is out to decide on the matter.

My arguement was a person might actually report first to cover his tracks. I was sceptical that any nigerian lawmaker who is a beneficiary of the largesse in the NASS ( National Assembly) at the expense of the Nigerian State would suddenly become a whistle-blower against the same institution.

The fact that Abdulmumin Jibrin, the Ex Chair of Budget Appropriation, initially agreed to Mr. Speaker Dogara's statement or assertion that he had decided to step aside because the workload was too much of a burden on him, only to come to the public and allege that he was forced to step aside because he didnt want to cooperate with some principal officers in the padding of the budget.

However, a new twist has emerged on the issue which was reported by Premium Times yesterday 27th August, in the report Mr Jibrin accused 10 principal lawmakers of illegally allocating the sum of N10 billion naira to themselves for 'office maintenance cost', he also confessed that he was the beneficiary of N 650 million naira from the N10 billion naira proceeds.

In the report, Mr Jibrin gave a breakdown on how the N 10 billion naira was shared. According to him, Mr Speaker received 1.5 billion naira, Others on the list are Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun, N800 million; Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, N1.2 billion; his deputy, Buba Jibril, N1.2 billion; House Whip, Alhassan Doguwa, N1.2 billion; and his deputy, Pally Iriase, N700 million. The rest are Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, N1.2 billion, his deputy, Chukwuka Onyema: N800 million, Minority Whip, Yakubu Barde, N700 million and his deputy, Binta Bello, N700 million. Mr. Jibrin, however, said he regretted taking the loot, adding that he would explain how he used his ill-gotten N650 million. “I have records and account of how I spent every penny that I have taken. In fact, it has been published in a 150-page book,” Mr. Jibrin said. “However, I have never been comfortable with the money! Thank God the wasteful allowances regime has reached its Waterloo! The country and House will be better off!”

The latest revelations just show that the issue of the budget padding was an underhand deal in which the ex chair felt cheated probably because he got the least share of the bounty, as opposed to the appearance of a whistle blower against corruption he wanted to portray himself as to Nigerians. The National Assembly members have always been self-serving as opposed to serving the interest of the country.

Once again Nigerians have been deceived by people who are supposed to represent our national interest. I am not in defence of the other members involved in the padding issue, in fact an investigation should be launched and any member found guilty shouldn't be let off the hook, but then this is nigeria and issues like this get swept under the carpet. My ogas in the house i know that most of you have given a range for FCR of btw 2-4,but my question is from your years of experience, what has been your average FCR? The range of btw 2-4 wont really help planning much. Maybe you can help us address this FCR on a breed basis because i read that some breeds perform better than others in terms of FCR particularly duroc.

The cost of constructing a pen house as a beginner doesnt come cheap. But a wooden or bamboo pen can also be constructed to reduce cost.

Please have you started, am in osogbo as well and am about to start, though am into poultry.

The ownership of a pen isnt only advantageous for broiler outgrower programme, with the policy of the federal government of an egg a day initiative about to roll out, it is very strategic for intended poultry farmers to possession of a poultry pen, as we speak the FG has the Tuns Farmer, it chief consultant in Osun State the sum of #25 billion naira to kick-start the policy of the govt, in due time we will all see it being rolled out.

Hello Dear poultry farmers, i want to bring to your attention Broiler Outgrower Programme (BOP) in Osun State. For some people it might be a stale gist because the programme has been on for some time now particularly in Osun State by Tuns Farms, however, for the benefit of those that might be interested, it might be another way to make money in addition to other sources of income.
For people hearing about this for the first time, the programme required the interested individual to have a poultry pen that can accommodate a minimum of 800 birds and above. Once this requirement is met, the Tuns farm that will come and inspect your facilities, if it meets their requirements, they will give you Day Old Chicks, feeds and drugs but you will be required to pay 15% of the total cost as down-payment. It used to be without down-payment until a new policy came to effect around March of this year. The interested farmer will rear the birds for about 6-7 weeks, afterwards Tuns farm will come and cull the birds. Tuns farm will deduct their cost namely cost of DOC, feeds, vaccines, drugs, security contribution (a form of insurance charge) etc and whatever is left is paid as profit to the farmer. Broiler Outgrower Programme isn't limited to Tuns farm, Amo farm does something similar but unlike Tuns farm, the farmer pays for the entire cost of the doc, feeding, drugs and co. They just guaranty to buy when the chicken reach the required weight. To this end i have a poultry pen for rent or sale for people interested in the programme. It is located in Erin-Osun, Osun State, situated on 4 plots of land . It has a dimension of 75 by 25 ft which can accommodate about 1,800 birds. This is a call for restructuring and not secession. The problem hausa-fulani have is that the centralized / unitary form of government (status quo) favours them. These are the same set of people that killed Gen. Ironsi who introduced Decree 23 and the centralized civil service because they felt westerners and easterners were better educated to fill up positions in the civil service.
