Crime › 7 Armed Robbers In Ondo Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Murder by TundeBricklayer(op): 2:48am On Aug 25, 2018 |
The Ondo State High Court in Akure on Thursday sentenced seven members of an armed robbery gang to death by hanging for killing a US-based businessman, Banji Adafin.
The seven robbers are to die by hanging after the court found them culpable for Adafin’s death.
Adafin was killed by the seven men on July 4, 2017, shortly after returning to Nigeria from the United States for vacation.
He was murdered at his Number 15 Temidire Street, Muyiwa Oni Avenue on Akure/Owo Road residence in cold blood in the presence of his wife, Abimbola.
The seven convicted persons are Blessing Ogunlade, John Omoniyi, Sodiq Babatunde, Akeem Adedayo, Oso John Omoniyi, Yomi Balogun, and Sodiq Babatunde.
These culprits were found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of firearms.
The court held that the offence of the seven culprits ran contrary to the robbery and Firearms Act, laws of the Federation (2004) and the Criminal Code, laws of Ondo state (2006).
The court also sentenced Damilola Samuel, best known as 'Mama', to one year in prison for aiding in her house incriminating materials.
Miss Damilola, girlfriend of one of the culprits, Blessing Ogunlade, was convicted for keeping two Samsung Plasma Televison sets, a Samsung Phone, a Techno Phone and electric pressing iron, which were all stolen from Adafin’s residence.
Olajiri Fadipe, a prosecutor and Department of State Services (DSS) official in charge of the murder case, said six of the culprits were actively involved in the robbery operation.
Fadipe noted that the seventh culprit only supplied firearms with no registered licence to do such.
Justice Samuel Bola, the trial Judge, held that the prosecuting counsel and DSS officials had proven the case beyond all reasonable doubt.
Bola, who read the Judgement for over four hours, concluded that the seven-man gang used gun to kill the deceased after robbing him of his valuables.
Grace Olowoporokun, a prosecuting counsel who stood in for the State Attorney-General, Mr Adekola Olawoye, added that the murder case shows that Judiciary is open to real justice.
In their reactions, defence counsel to the convicts, Abdulrahman Yusuf and Samuel Aiyesa, said they would appeal the judgement after a deep review.
Earlier in the court, Abimbola Adafin, wife of the deceased, had explained how the seven robbers invaded their residence in the dead of the night.
"I was inside the bedroom along with my late husband and daughter when I heard other occupants living with us in the house, Hannah Temitope (relative) and Deborah Petti (housemaid), suddenly scream, which forced me to rush out of the bedroom,” she said.
"By the time I came out of the room I saw that the two ladies were held at gunpoint by these armed robbers. Immediately, I panicked and ran back to the room, not knowing that more armed robbers had gained access inside the house through the kitchen.” http://saharareporters.com/2018/08/23/seven-armed-robbers-ondo-sentenced-death-hanging-murdering-us-based-businessman

centoke30: Bro, he got it wrong. Osun State is quite developed but you can't compare it to Anambra and Enugu neither can u compare it to Akwa Ibom and Rivers State. Anambra State happens to be the state with the highest number of rich citizens who invest immensely to the development of that state. some of the men there even asks the state government to allow them to develop their communities by themselves. Anambra is developed more than Osun. Enugu equally houses the more developments both infrastructural and otherwise no wonder The state has more than 5 shopping malls. Mentioning the SS was wrong of you too, if Rivers State or Akwa Ibom State that happens to generate the oil money in Nigeria is not developed please how can osun state that doesn't generate anything be more developed than Rivers and Akwa Ibom ? I doubt if u have ever been to these states I just mentioned No state in southwest can be compare to Anambra except Lagos which is being develop by all tribes and foreigners |

EvilMetahuman: although I don't agree that osun is more developed than some South south states especially porth Harcourt or akwa ibom... But osun is definitely more developed than all 5 ibo states put together and that's a fact You are i.diot comparing backward Osun to eastern states, Osun I know can only be compare to Ebonyi state in Southeast, the Idiot deomelo I'm sure has link to Argbesola's photographa he can easily access his projects pictures in his folder, unlike Op that just recycled Ebonyi pictures online, it would have been better if he is challenging Ebonyi state government photographa who can easily showcase what the state government has done or ongoing projects. In reality Ebonyi state is doing better than Osun, Education Ebonyi is now on top 10 in WAEC while Osun is between 29-28 position, Ebonyi is one of the lowest in debt unlike Osun future that has been mortgaged by huge debts, Abakalik which is Ebonyi state is far better than Oshogbo, in Agriculture Ebonyi top leading states in many agro products. It's fact not propaganda, the low IQ deomelo challenge would have be better with Ebonyi government media aide, some one like me that have visited both states Ebonyi make more sense than Osun. |

nokingasgod: Interesting, Since you have decided to chose the Selective Perception route, let me help you a bit. Fault me if you can;
1. The Chairman of the board of Multichoice Nigeria, the owner of DSTV Nigeria, is a Nigerian called, Adewunmi Ogunsanya. There are several other Nigerian in the top management and several others are on the employ of the company. So, Multichoice Nigeria is still not Nigerian enough by your understanding?
2. Nigerian Breweries PLC, formerly Nigerian Breweries Limited is being owned by the Dutch with over 60% through Heineken Heineken Brouwerijen B.V (37.73%) and Distilled Trading International BV(16.36%). Stanbic Nominees Nigeria Limited own 15.53% and other individuals & institutions, 30.38%. I hope you know that the Brand Stanbic is South African too? Pascal Dozie is the chairman MTN Nigeria it doesn't change the fact that MTN is a South African company just like Mutichoice, NBC was founded in Nigeria headquarters in Nigeria. |
TV/Movies › Re: TStv Laments Fierce Battle With Competitors by TundeBricklayer: 4:59pm On Aug 23, 2018 |
nokingasgod: Mr Bricklayer your ignorance is so so sickening. In what ways should the government have supported TSTV more than what they did? Oh, they should have arbitrarily issued the marching order to DSTV and other local competitors all because of TSTV and allowed the industry to standstill until TSTV is ready to get their acts right.
Ours is an open economy and there is nothing wrong in international brands berthing here as long as they play by the rules.
If Globacom could take on MTN and still stand strong, the question is why is it that no Nigerian businessman is willing to invest in a local brand that would favourably compete with DSTV? The answer is simple, a typical Nigerian investor is interested in the short term ROI, he's rarely willing to invest and nurture a brand over the long haul. It took DSTV over three decades to get to the level they are today and even at that, they keep evolving. So in your view, government should have outlawed the likes of Shoprite, Games, SAB etc all in the name of ''supporting our own'' even if they are mediocre levels. O level Commerce and or Economics should have opened yous eyes better.
Please tell us since you are in the know, how did the South Africans in ''our country connived with corrupt politics'' to frustrate TSTV?
And by the way, what made Nigerian Breweries a Nigerian company and made Multichoice a non Nigerian company? It is the era of information super highway, ignorance is no longer an excuse, it is more than a sin, it is curse!

afroniger: What a pity that this Tstv people are a scam. So they weren't ready to compete and they were disturbing us. Now they are complaining. Nonsense. You and your likes are many reasons Nigeria will never grow, make more enquiry what South Africans did when Walmart and other firms were planning to enter SA. Today in Nigeria, same South African has taking over Nigeria cable TV, leading in retail stores, they are the owners of shoprite, GAME, PEP etc, they owned the largest telecom industries in Nigeria MTN, they manage many international hotels in Nigeria for example Protea hotel, La Golden tulip, BON etc, same with banks, IBTC, Standard Chartered bank etc, we consum their products wears, foods, fruits, drinks even ordinary ice fish in local markets come from South African, here is indigenous cable TV tstv that is trying to come up same South African in our country connived with our corrupt politics frustrating them and ignorant ones like you instead of supporting your own you are here condemning them, tomorrow when DSTV is ripping you off with high charges, you will not know you are the cause of your misery, I hope you haven't forgotten how MTN ripped Nigerians off when they came until Glo came crashed the market for them, go and write it on they wall another Nigeria company that will soon go down is Nigeria brewery company, South African brewery (Sabmiller now AB InBev) in few weeks time will commission their biggest brewery in west African in Nigeria, the one the opened in the east is seriously affecting NBC, their products such as: Star beer, Golder etc are gradually going down, now this new one, we should embrace to say goodbye to NBC soon because of our moronic leaders and followers, giant of African my foot, have a great day. All we want is 2023. We have enough capable hands. Osibanjo, Fasola, Ambode, Amosun, Akinwunmi Adesina. Name them in every sphere.
We have also invested so much in the electronic, print and social media. So, all is set.
BTW, we don't want any votes from the East. If Abiola could win in 1993 and Buhari in 2015 without the Igbos, we would win again. O you think because the guy got busy to do something meaningful with his life offline hence couldn't correct your assumption he was lying? More from Anambra

totit:

Typical of Ipods defeat them with facts and see them using reverse psychology, self praises and lies to cover up their shame. They could even go as far as reporting you to the MOD. More from Anambra

Cannonleo: With all due respect to the original owner of this topic TundeBricklayer
And those who asked for more photos of this innovation made in harsh conditions.
I present more pictures and a brief specifics about this Tricycle.
There are currently 3 more units of this electric tricycle currently under construction, plus the initial one prrsented that makes it four.
1 is fully operational and is under road testing as seen before. It has a 4 tier transmission system, digital dashboard with stereo player integrated (USB support available), capable of 50km/h (rough estimate) and powered by 2 huge batteries which are rechargable with it's suite. It has nice torque in climbing obstacles and almost perfect cruise experience with solid wrought iron frame work (although the finishing around the edges would have been top notch with the right tools). No oil or fuel is used and the framework is simple A solar panel for on road recharging is in the pipeline for this.
No 2 is complete but is missing the gearing systems and batteries plus a bit of finishing.
No 3 is barebone and currently under construction.
No 4 is at framework level.
Here are the pictures.
Please repost until it gets to someone who loves innovation and can support this man.
NB: this project has been on for like 4 years or thereabouts cos I have been noticing it for long. Great innovation |
