Sports / Re: Mourinho Says He Has More EPL Titles Than All 19 Managers Combined by tundess: 6:26pm On Aug 28, 2018
ManU were unlucky. They score any of those chances that Luka-lead boots misses and the game is very different.
Shaw needs a season. He could turn out ok. I think Valencia is too predictable a player at his age to be an EPL title challenger. Always thought of him as a flat track bully. Fred getting used to EPL speed. Matic made some uncharacteristic errors and seemed a step slow. Calamity Jones ? Oh dear. A genuine question. What does Jones bring to a team ? Can't pass, can't head, not the most intelligent player.
Don't get me started on Lukaku. He'll go to West Brom and put 3 past them. Yet against the top teams (even in Belgium colours), what you get is a lot of huff and puff and no trousers. His football lineage is from the Emile Hesky/Danny Welbeck/ Benteke school of football. Kane learned him.
ManU need a Casemiro or Varane pedigree type player then they'll be fine. Easier said than done though. Still rate JM but he needs not to rise to the bait of the UK press and keep grinding. Why he didn't play Rashford is worrying though. Is Janusz still a ManU player ?

Politics / Re: 'Buhari Is Lifeless': Presidency, US Embassy Silent On Trump's Comment by tundess: 10:01am On Aug 28, 2018

THE PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA CHOSE A 92 YEARS OLD MAN PRESENTLY, BECAUSE HE HAS WHAT IT WILL TAKE RESUSCITATE THE ECONOMY. THIS TALK IS STUPID AND AN ATTEMPT TO DISTRACT FROM THE MAIN ISSUES. PANACEA IS WHAT WE NEED WE DO NOT CARE WHO DELIVERS .

So compare track records then; Mahathir created a "tiger" economy, weathered heavy going during turbulent times and left it on the up to his successors. It can be argued, Mahathir's meddling OBJ style has prevented Malaysia from advancing because of his hate for Anwar Ibrahim.
Buhari' s economic record has been ? He presaged the free fall of our economy that the clueless military normalised. Given a second chance, he has proved as inept as the first time around. Omni-shambles all around.
As for Trump, he's getting schooled by rocket man. Who knew international relations could be so complicated.

Not van hooydonk's best work it must be said. Hyundai and Kia have stolen a march on the staid Euro designs. Perhaps bmw should open a design studio in Korea ?

Ba-da boom ba-dalung !!
Dalung is speaking from a sunken place. That he has a job despite his demonstrable incompetence must mean he is achieving this administration's policy goals for sports.

So, did Oil marketers arrange to kidnap her mum or not, as she claimed ? Or was it more likely that her economic policies made her mum a target of opportunity.
I'll give her this much, she knows how to self publicise. 6 months into the job GEJ was advised not to give her and she's trying to get the WB post.
Left to her narrative , she's the only person capable of being UNSG, POTUS, President of the EU and finance minister of the entire AU.

Politics / Re: APC To PDP Defection: No Man Of Honour Will Return To His Vomit - Oshiomole by tundess: 2:19pm On Jul 24, 2018
Ppl who know Oshiomole warned that he does not have the wherewithal to be Chairman. Attack dog, demagogue, Labour rabble-rouser, yes. Chairman, no. His negotiating tactic was to first canvas patience. Then a volte face to insulting and demeaning Buba Galadima And rAPC. Now, "vomit".
And that's their "strategery" ?
I don't have a crystal ball but I can foresee a clash between the Chairman and the DG Campaign. Especially as regards the APC strategery for the North Central.
So, over to Oshiomole the strategerist.....
Politics / Re: Police Invitation Is A Mere Political Game, Says Saraki by tundess: 8:18am On Jul 24, 2018
I make no point as to Saraki's guilt wrt to the allegations directed at him or not. Just trying to cast light on the implications of these "arrests".
Lawyers gonna have a whale of a time in 2019.
Politics / Re: Police Invitation Is A Mere Political Game, Says Saraki by tundess: 8:16am On Jul 24, 2018
Saraki may have a point in inferring that his defection/removal is the reason for his invitation. This a.m, Dep Sen President' s house is surrounded by EFCC. This a.m, Sen President' s house is surrounded by police. The aim being to prevent the two principal officers from plenary, thereby triggering an election for the two positions. Democratic coup in all but name.
Interesting times.....
Foreign Affairs / Re: Donald Trump And Vladimir Putin Meet In Finland (Photos) by tundess: 1:49am On Jul 17, 2018
Your own Intel chief sez Russia hacked. Trump sez the leader of a competitor nation ( not a "foe" like the EU/NATO alliance that has been a vassal alliance since WW2) is more credible than his Intel organisations that are funded to the tune of multiple tens of billions of $ a year. So either Trump is right and the US is wasting money on its myriad intelligence agencies or Trump is wrong and Russia is more than a mere " competitor".
Truth be told, Marine Le Pen was right. Trump will finally make Europe liberate herself from American hegemony. Silver lining in dark clouds and whatnot....
Politics / Re: Benue Government Loses Confidence In FG Over Killer Herdsmen by tundess: 11:13am On Feb 08, 2018
Castanea,
You did quote me claiming "I see the other one talking about 'Security Structure of a State' ". That was directed at me since I used the exact same phrase.
You then follow up with, " Like I said earlier, combination of daftness and arrogance will never let them acquire proper knowledge. They keep wallowing in their defective thinking with very limited education."
For good measure you relegate it to "corrupt minds" or somesuch.
Then this gem, "The last time I checked, I didn't quote you (err, you did). And I expect the respect and gesture from you. Continue spewing gibberish just don't quote me"....
So you did quote me. You then vented something about daftness, arrogance, limited education and corrupt minds. And then expect "respect and gesture from" me ?
For the record I come from that part of the country and have a stake in the outcome of this crisis. Of course you knew that.
My point in this entire exchange is to highlight the difference in response from the governor to the Agatu crisis and this one ravaging his kinsmen. He was lambasted by another governor (Wike) in the past for his supine response to Fulani killings in Agatu. It took him 7 weeks to go to Agatu.
Ortom is now demanding the IGP goes. He didn't demand that when Agatu was being sacked. He instead went to a security summit with Al-Makura and ceded Agatu land. And probably pocketed Miyetti money to boot.
And you're on here playing at being a pompous little git and lecturing people ? Grow up.
Keep defending Ortom. He's politically toast in his state and he knows it. No amount of hand wringing will change that.
Daftness and arrogance, respect and gesture; You'd do well to follow your own advice plonker.

Castanea:
The ignorance and arrogance of some folks on this forum. Just when you think you have seen the worst among them, out of nowhere, another will just emerge and grab the show. So Buhari should also claim that he is not in control of the Security just because the Governor is saying the same thing? Between the Governor and the President, who is constitutionally refers to as the Commander-in-Chief of the Arm Forces of, the Federal Republic? The Governor being called CSO of a State is pure nonsense! This is one of the core issues surrounding the call for restructuring. Some people will never learn. People of corrupt minds.

The governor has a security cabinet of which the CP, SDS and Brigade commander are members. He could have instructed them to deploy resources pending him notifying the center. To the governor's credit, it appears he did notify Abuja and yet nothing was done. It still does not excuse his cack-handedness in his stewardship of the security in his state. Bandits, gang killings, political thuggery and herdsmen have roamed far and wide in Benue since he took over. He even gave amnesty to thugs whom he later declared wanted (ie "Gana"wink. The same governor, when Agatu was being ravaged barely came up with a condemnation. He actually ceded Agatu land, unilaterally to the transgressors, saying he had reached an accommodation with the Nassarawa governor to allow grazing in Agatu !
Compare and contrast his constant wailing now. Ortom has cynically used the deaths of his kinsman to bolster his political fortune by being hailed for speaking truth to power. Enquiring minds want to know why it took Tiv deaths for him to find his croaky voice.
Politics / Re: Benue Government Loses Confidence In FG Over Killer Herdsmen by tundess: 10:31pm On Feb 06, 2018
A lot of posters are excusing Ortom as not being in control of the states security apparatus. Imagine if Buhari claimed the same ? A pathetic explanation after repeated collapses of security in Benue. The Fulani incursions are horrible events. But the general insecurity in Benue is unprecedented. And that's on Ortom.
Politics / Re: Benue Government Loses Confidence In FG Over Killer Herdsmen by tundess: 7:13pm On Feb 06, 2018
When the Fulani were committing ethnic cleansing in Agatu, Ortom was silent. He did not visit Agatu for 7 weeks. He was derelict in his duty as the CSO of the state and the continuing insecurity in the Katsina-Ala axis is testament to his failure at every level of governance in Benue state. His step-brother in incompetency governs Kogi state.
Between Bello and Ortom they have allowed the creation of a beachhead of mayhem that now allows the Fulani to penetrate into the East and even the South.
Ortom should stop his hand wringing and lamentations in the media. He has beggared his state and left her defenceless. A complete and utter nincompoop. His wheel barrow is his legacy-Ortom for you !
Politics / Re: El-rufai, Shettima, Badaru & Simon Lalong In Benue, On Condolence Visit (Photos) by tundess: 8:55pm On Jan 19, 2018
As others have said, too little too late. El-Rufai's locquasiousness will damn him from what he craves most; Putin-like power.
What I've noticed in this rolling tragedy is that Ortom was distinctly "leading from behind" when the same outrages were being perpetrated on the Agatu communities. Did he not cede Agatu land to appease the Miyetti Allah, trusting that he could deprive the Idoma of land and screen himself behind a "security compact" with the Nasarrawa governor ? I recall there was a loudly trumpeted security meeting between the two states. So what was decided ? What progress has been made ? Obviously none.
Ortom is incompetent. He has always been thus ; His Ortom wheelbarrow initiative for youths is now been used to ferry corpses.
