You are perfectly right. The sanity and peace of mind is second to none. That’s why I don’t read or follow any news from Nigeria as I used to especially after the #EndSars massacre. I kinda gave up on the country. MackyNaija: Thanks, I like sanity + peace of mind and the US gives me that 100%. |

Thank God for that visa interview thread. It saved me a lot of stress and helped me prepare for my visa interview in 2018. @MackyNaija, I must confess that your thread is so insightful and your answers to questions are profound and enlightening. MackyNaija: There is a USA student visa thread, that's where I got a bulk of the info I needed in 2016. It's currently in part 15, I was a member of part 10&11 I think.
There's also a GRE thread.
Both are filled with all you need to know, available at no cost to you. |

Thanks, boss. This information is helpful MackyNaija: Try to avoid the LE, it also has a different front grille. I'd have preferred the XSE for it's 6 cylinders. Overall I like it, the handling is superb! Negotiating bends at 80mph is sweet!!!
Lane assist + collision warning/auto braking very useful..

You are right!. I have spent over two years in the United States and the progress I have made in those two years; I would not have been able to achieve that level of progress in ten years in Nigeria. Please, Believe what I just said. If you know what you are doing like @MackyNaija, you will be very successful in the USA. The United States is like gasoline added to your little fire. I hope you get what I mean. Paccus: Just 3 years after leaving Naija see elevation. If you still dey 9ja you for done maybe buy 2008 Camry dey celebrate.. this one na 10 years increase |

WOW! A colleague of mine recently suggested I buy a Toyota model - 2018 Toyota Camry SE. I wanted to buy the 2020 Hyundai Elantra SEL for cost and fuel effectiveness. To add to one of your points above, buying a car in the United States is like buying toothpaste. Life is made easy for the middle class in comparison to almost any country on earth. Nice Car @MackyNaija MackyNaija: Yes, tried buying an Avalon, e hard me to find dark interiors so I switched to a Camry...
The 2012 model year and it's facelift in 2015 are ugly to me so I moved a step higher. Motor for America no be big man, if you work hard, you go ball hard.
I believe in continuous improvement... Below is my newest addition, the 2018 Camry SE - problem No 6. |

More resumes from Link3dIn (gotten a year ago) and Bl1nd (gotten today) so job seekers know Who & What they are competing against. The resumes are intimidating. It goes to show that there is an exponentially increasing pool of talents from all over the world flocking into the United States for a better and more rewarding life. I would encourage fellow Nigerians to explore academic opportunities or sport scholarships to the United States or any civilized & industrialized community. Nigeria is way behind and it’s really depressing to see the trajectory the country is taking. MackyNaija: While I was working fulltime, onsite daily during the pandemic lockdown, I started writing certifications related to quality engineering - this helped me alot.
I was chasing 5 items at the time - Taking certifications which would lead to making the move to a new job in a different state with a bigger title and more earnings.... This wouldn't be easy...
My targets were aligned in that particular order.
I prepared for and took the first Certification while applying for jobs and made my Linked1n profile open to new opportunities - it's a games of numbers, the more one applies to, the better the chances. I was qualified and an almost exact match for a bulk of the jobs I applied to but still got rejects. Companies no get joy.
Dismissed many prospects from Linked1n because they were in the Bay Area, concentrated on jobs outside and got interview 1 where they set the panel interview 3weeks out and cancelled it 2 hours before the scheduled time. They said someone they had given an offer had accepted it - unprofessional to have scheduled me while offering people the job. This one pain me, I had left preparing for my exams for this entire job. Time wasted!
Interviewed with company 2 where 8weeks after interviewing with the VP, they keep saying they are yet to make a decision. This opportunity almost took me back to Texas, guess it wasn't meant to be. Senior title, low cost of living.
Companies 3 and 4 came calling via linked1n and since I was So Sure of going to work for company 2 in Texas, I decided to interview with these new ones just for the exposure. They were Bay area companies, I had no interest in staying here...
Glad I didn't blow them off, I finally accepted the offer from company 4. Company 3 was Appl3, yes the almighty Apple Inc. Thanks for sharing your personal story @MackyNaija. I also had a similar experience since coming to the United States where you get return on investment for all your learning and schooling. I had interviews with different companies from the Almighty Facebook to Goldman Sachs to Visa USA Inc. and many more. I hope fellow Nigerians understand that your destiny is relative to your territory. Enough Said! |

theamerican: Here to share another experience. So, after doing strong head for months, I finally got an iPhone X from a guy who badly needed the money. Good deal for $400.
I was home fumbling with the phone o. Trying to fit it into a case. Before I hear anything, the buttons were pressed together, phone entered power mode/call sos, kia kia, it was dialing 911. I panicked and ended the call after one ring.
3 seconds later, I got a call lol. I was not gonna answer but my friend told me if I didn’t, they would assume I was in trouble, couldn’t speak, trace my location, and send cops to come and save me from whatever the issue is.
I hurriedly answered the call lol. “Hello, this is the Dallas police department, we just got a call from this number”. I told them it was a mistake, that I just got a new phone and the phone dialed 911, etc. They said ok, laughed, said goodbye and hung up.
Taxpayers’ money works. If I was genuinely in trouble, they would have arrived on time to save my big black ass. What a country. Chai! |

sureb0yy: While I'm not a lawyer or expert in cases like this, I just wanna give you my 2 cents. This may be a very unpopular opinion but hey, it's just an advise, so feel free to ignore it.
The law is not a black or white thing. This is why for cases you're not sure of, the advise is primarily to consult a lawyer. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get through situations that look super complex to the ordinary eye.
That being said, IMO, there is absolutely NO beyond-reasonable-doubt proof that your sister or her husband lied to the VO during their first visa interview. It's not like they have proof of a conversation they had to support a preconceived plan to do the above. People change their minds all the time. People come here just to visit for a week, meet a girl with asss so fat, decide they're not going home again, marry the girl and apply for GC, say their plans changed after they got here. Oga mi Sir, they get their GC.
In your case, maybe your sister and her husband honestly had no intention of having their baby here or visit the doctor. Suppose I were in her shoes, and I woke up one day with blood coming out of me, you think I will risk my life and die because I told one VO that I won't be seeing Doctor? No sir, I will call 911 if needed and get the best treatment and that's not a crime.
This case is not as impossible as it looks, and also you didn't tell the whole story. If they paid all bills out of pocket or whatever the case is, tell them to take all relevant documents along on their next visit to the embassy. He also has to state clearly that "No Sir, we didn't misinform the previous VO. Things happened that way because..."
If the matter pass you, your sister abi her husband, consult immigration lawyer. Better one o, not 200 Naira lawyers under bridge in Ikeja. But if I were you, I'd handle this myself sha. It's not a big deal.
Disclaimer: This is not legal advice. Please consult a lawyer for legal matters. @sureb0yy you said to celebrate your anniversary in the US u would drop some OT. Me i been dey wait i neva see anything. |

Appleyard: Now, this is exactly the problem with a lot of your kind on this platform. it is now. But anything can still happen. @Appleyard Your points were factual and intellectually crafted. I must say, KUDOS. It is very painful to find so called intellectuals talk about a topic from a biased and prejudiced perspective. Many of the people on this forum have allowed their objectivity and criticism to be clouded by hate for TRUMP. @Appleyard The truth is this, there is nothing Trump does no matter how wonderful and amazing that will make this folks give him credit. To be more candid, let me use this analogy. If Trump discovers a cure for cancer tomorrow instead of giving him credit. You will hear them say but he didn't discover a cure for HIV. Most times it is best to avoid a debate on anything concerning Trump with them because they would never be "OBJECTIVE" |

theamerican: I'm starting to think there's a different Nigeria for NLers on this thread. When you see stories on IG, Twitter, Facebook and compare to the testimonies of some people on here, it's like night and day.
See, if you're coming here to proclaim Nigeria as the land of opportunities, with milk and honey while in your heart you can't wait to get the opportunity to flee, you're deceiving yourself lol. If you truly like it there, I respect you and support your ministry. If not, get out of your ignorance and run for the sake of your future kids. They don't have to suffer for your ignorance.

obixcel: You just said everything and absolutely on point. The libtards and the MSM at large are underestimating the fact that it's been over 70 years of the Korean War, and they expect it to suddenly end at the snap of a finger? With a complete denuclearisation done overnight? Just like that? It's a process. But because they would wish things don't go well to plan as long as they can mock President Trump they simply don't care...afterall Bill Maher a liberal comedian already wished for another economic collapse like that of 2008, if that is what it would take to bring down the Trump administration. Imagine that liberal logic? You are so on point. The liberals and fake news media wants Trump to fail so badly. Even if what he is doing is good for Americans, they don't care. All they want is TRUMP's FAILURE. The Mainstream media especially FAKE NEWS CNN and the liberals will end up frustrated. I also predict "A RED WAVE" in November. Lets wait and see. |
