Travel › Re: Do You Flaunt Or Hide Your Nigerian Passport When Travelling? by tunwe(m):
My passports resides in my breast pocket. I do not hold it on my hands becos usually I have some other valuables tucked in the sleeves. I am not conscious of them at all. I put them where I think is safe. That is the inner pockets of my coat. I have never been embarassed , intimidated nor received undue extra scrutiny becos of my green pp. There was one occation I arrived at George Bush international airport from Frankfurt germany with luftansa. On arrival ,as usual people filed into the lines. The line for visitors, non citizens etc were very long.But the ones for citizens was very short , less than ten people. As usual my passports were inside my pockets. And was wearing native bowber and sokoto, with wooley turtle neck warmer underneath. So I filed on the short line for US citizens. Behold, this attending immigration officer at the counter shouted "this is for US citizens only". I ignored him, pretending I didn't hear him. He repeated the same expletive words twice looking directly toward my direction.At this time , there were about four to five people behind me. So I looked back to none verbally indicate to the people behind me , if the officer is talking to them. The officer was ticked, I could see him getting red in the face, vissablely boiling and spoiling for a fight. I just maintained my calm and paid him no mind. When I got to the counter I put my hand in the sokoto pocket and tendered my US passport. He was embarassed. I asked him what made him think I can't read?

My two kobo to this conversation, as many have said already is to be yourselves. Even here in niaja our accents varies geographically. We still manage to understand each other. It is the pronounciations that matters.if you can learn to call an A, as 'a' , and an E as'e', not as 'a'. Your pronouciations will be clearer and better understood. In other words ,master your vowels properly. Don't sound 'a' as er, or 'e' as 'a' nor pronouce 'o' as 'or'. Etc. When a vowel precedes, and follows a consunat, the consonat will be mute, or silent. As in water , the t is silent. Accent is insignificant, proper pronouciation is the key to effective communication.

Chibuebem: the benin kingdom in particular practiced human sacrificing. Which the europeans fought against. This led to the killing of british officials on their way to the kingdom, and the eventual demise of the benin kingdom and deportation of their oba(king)

You're ill informed.Your so called Benin sacrifice of humans was the killings of traitors, that colluded with the enemies. The arrival of british. and the subsequent invation ,and exile of the oba was prescided by centuries (mellinum) of the empire bilateral relation with other none english speaking europeans.

We only had one head of state from 1960-1963. And that was the prime-minister (Abubakar). The presidental position was ceremonial. Nnamdi! Azikiwe was a president without portfolio. The boss for all practical purposes wass Tafala Balewa. Is misleading to list zike among the head of
state.;

!Abagworo, i agree with you , her eyes resembles the dads, also the fore-head bears the Jackson's family resemblance. There are many off-spings of blacks that passes for white. Pearl, hazel, green , blue and Other colors of eyes. The texture of hair is maliable, she can't be judge by that. Also her head and neck tilting to the side is Micheal's attribute.
