[quote author=ZeroLatest post=67370364]A Nigerian man naed mc_akonuche Just took to his instagram account to say this, what are your Thoughts?? For d past 6 years iv been on radio iv come to realise DAT there is particularly a special type of segregation bw d Eastern Nigerian musicians n d westerners.. But with critical analysis, I noticed DAT d Easterners contributed so much to dia own problem.. Its very hard for Igbo artistes who has made it to support rising fellow artist .maybe bc d rising artists however don’t also support them.. Look at d sponsor’s of @the_headies ,not even one big man or company from d east, all sponsors r from Yoruba..why won’t d Igbo’s nt be segregated n nt given awards?? We make so much money n all in our mind is only business n nobody is thinking about improving entertainment in east just very few like SIR EMEKA OFFOR had in d past contributed to entertainment. Look at d #12thheadies last nit..from d red carpet, no Igbo anchor, no Igbo presented an award, except Ebuka who of course is a Yoruba personality, no Igbo artist performed n no Igbo artist won an award in all categories. Even SONG OF D YEAR DAT was supposed to go to MAD OVER U BY @runtown was given to a Yoruba Artist.. I work on d radio n I call tell u DAT MAD OVER U received high air play from December 2016 wen it dropped till mid 2017 wen IF by DAVIDO came out.. But wot do I know? I’m just an ordinary OAP With dis analysis, I’m finding it difficult to accept DAT #Headies is a Nigerian award..I feel its more of a YORUBA AWARD even though d Igbo’s contributed as d architect of their own problem n therefore I’m calling out d whole Igbo Artist to come out n support their up rising artists just like @davidoofficial is doing n let our rich Igbo men try n support entertainment… If u attack me on MY wall,be rest assured DAT u will be BLOCKED.. I JUST SAID MY MIND.. HAPPY SUNDAY!!! Awards are reward for hardwork and given to those who truely deserve them, same way respect is earned and not thrown in the air for free grabs |

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday, dismissed an application by a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-kayode, seeking transfer of a money laundering case against him. Fani-Kayode, who was also Chairman, Media and Publicity, of the 2015 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Campaign Organisation, in the suit, is charged alongside a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenadi Usman. Also joined as defendants are a former National Chairman of the Association of Local Government in Nigeria (ALGON) Yusuf Danjuma, and a company, Jointrust Dimensions Ltd. The accused are charged by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 17- count of alleged N4.6billion money laundering charge. In the charge, the accused persons were alleged to have committed the offences between January and March 2015. In counts one to seven, they were alleged to have unlawfully retained over N3.8 billion which they reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act of stealing and corruption. In counts eight to 14, the accused were alleged to have unlawfully used over N970 million which they reasonably ought to have known formed part of an unlawful act of corruption. Meanwhile, in counts 15 to 17 Fani-Kayode and one Olubode Oke, who is said to be at large, were alleged to have made cash payments of about N30 million, in excess of the amount allowed by law, without going through a financial institution. Besides, Fani-Kayode was alleged to have made payments to one Paste Poster Co (PPC) of No 125 Lewis St., Lagos, in excess of amounts allowed by law. EFCC alleged the offences contravened the provisions of sections 15 (3) (4), 16 (2) (b), and 16 (5) of the Money laundering (prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012. The accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges. The accused were first arraigned on June 28, 2016 before Justice Muslim Hassan of the same court, but the judge withdrew from the suit on March 16, (this year) following an application by Fani-Kayode, citing likely bias by the judge. The case was thereafter, re-assigned to Justice Mohammed Aikawa and the accused were re-arraigned on the same charges. At the last adjourned date on June 21, defence counsel, Mr. Norrisson Quakers, SAN, had prayed the court to transfer the case to its Abuja division, arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter. Quakers argued that the facts of the case showed that all the transactions carried out by the accused as Director of Media and Publicity of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, took place in Abuja. Besides, he had argued that the accused resides in Abuja and had another ongoing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja. But EFCC’s lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, opposed the application and urged the court to refuse it on the grounds that the transactions as well as cheques and receipts in furtherance of same, were done in Lagos. Oyedepo thereafter urged the court to dismiss the application for transfer and described it as a mere waste of the court’s time. At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, Justice Aikawa, in his ruling, held that some of the authorities cited by defence counsel, were delivered before the enactment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, which he noted had provided exceptions to the issues of venue of court. “In the case before me, the prosecution avers in its counter affidavit that “the sum of N30 million was paid to PW1 (Olusegun Idowu) of Paste Posters Company Ltd, who has his office in Lagos”. “This, in my view shows that all facts leading to the transaction was done in Lagos, and only evidence will prove otherwise. “In the light of all these, it is clear that the facts and circumstances of this case falls into the exceptions of the law regarding criminal trials. “There is no justification to warrant a transfer of this case to Abuja; the interest of justice requires that the trial of this case continues in this court. This application hereby fails and is accordingly dismissed,” he ruled. The court also ruled on an application for objection raised by defence counsel on the last adjourned date, challenging the tendering of photocopies of payment receipts by PW1, who began giving testimony on June 7. Aikawa held that it was not the business of the court to concern itself with whether or not a document is original, so long as the document sought to be tendered, is duly certified. The court accordingly, dismissed the objections, admitted the receipts in evidence and marked same as exhibits 3 and 3A respectively. The court then called on prosecution to continue with the examination of his first witness. Meanwhile, defence counsel, Quakers, sought for an adjournment to enable him study the exhibits and prepare his cross examination. The court granted the request and adjourned the case to Sept 27 for cross examination and continuation of trial. |
South-East governors to adopt south-west development agenda South-East Governors Forum The South-east Governors Forum has promised to adopt the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission (DAWN) to grow its region. The Director General (DG) of the forum, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, disclosed this yesterday after a two-day working visit to the commission’s Head office at the Cocoa House, Ibadan. He said he was impressed with the level at which the commission had formulated economic policies for the regional development of the southwest. He said: “We have seen the DAWN’s strategic document called One Bloc. This would form the policy guidelines for the South-east Governors’ Forum. Through this visit, we have also seen the type of young professionals that are driving this vision.” He said the visit had helped his team to gain the experience needed to integrate and develop the south-east region. Ortuanya added that the visit would assist the forum to develope a strategic plan and identify the type of professionals needed to successfully manage a similar agency. The DG disclosed that the visit was necessitated by the forum’s belief in DAWN’s agenda in moving its region forward. According to him, the governors’ forum and DAWN commission share some things in common in their regional cohesion and integration. Ortuanya added that the commission had already recorded success in several areas of cooperation among the six states in Western Nigeria. “We are barely one month old, whereas DAWN is four years old. We felt we should have this interaction to leverage on its experience. If we have empowerment in the south-east, it would help in the country’s development. “DAWN developed a strategic master plan for the development of the south-west. We also need to go this way in sustaining our values for hard work, innovation, honesty, respect and cooperation.” The Acting Director General of DAWN, Seye Oyeleye, described the visit as a good step in the right direction, adding that it was encouraging that other regions were adopting its blueprint to develop the nation. Oyeleye said the fading relevance of oil as the mainstay of the country’s economy further made it imperative for each region to look inward and cooperate on the various ways of maximizing their available resources for development. http://allnews.uodoo.com/en-ng/detail/1553316041681740?uc_param_str=dnfrpfbivesscpgimibtbmntnijblauputoggdnw&opt=list_auto&app=h5_iflow&reco_id=ccf97b8d-720b-4fe4-9b74-ae0599423a95&rs=prof&channel_id=10069901&entry1=topsites&entry2=&entry=browser |
columbus007:but out of your so called "precious time" u hv dignified him a reply by quoting him. Ur stew-piditee has just been displayed in the open..get off the cyberspace kid |
tuscani:well said,I can't but agree more with the point you raised,we kept on recycling same old"Misleaders" while clamouring for change, its just like pouring old wine in a new bottle, that makes our political situation perilous than what one can imagine.I just hope the NA are serious on the constitution amendment particularly on independent candidate and the age requirment they can do an accelerated hearing and deliberate swiftly on the bill to be endorsed by the presidency enacted into our laws before 2019 elections.i am sure u are #NOTTOOYOUNGTORUN call me and i will gladly support u ![]() |
tuscani:well, depending on where you are coming from,I am only talking about 16year of getting back to civilian rule..my brother |
bernf16:personally,I think there's too much sentiment attached to ur comment. First of all,I am not a big fan of PMB and these sets of "Misleaders" parading themselves as "patriots".secondly, I can't deny the fact that pmb is indeed sick and there's need for we the people to know his health status and how it affect governance in the country.my point exactly is that the President has done what is required by law by transferring all his legitimate rights as the president to his deputy in acting capacity, this was also contained in a written letter to the national assembly and as far as the constitution is concern there's no vaccum but if anybody feels otherwise, they can approach a court of competent jurisdiction to seek redress.for me,the issue if the president's absence and hill health can be address both politically and legitimately if found "incapacitated" so I still insist that the protest was needless, uncalled for and should have been the last resort. And for ur question about knowing of any President that has been absent for up to 2 month due to their health concern,I will mention few US presidents 1.Woodrow Wilson 1913-1921 2.Franklin Roosevelt 1933-1945 3.Dwight Eisenhower 1953-1961 4.John F Kennedy 1961-1963(2½year and hospatlize 9times) 5.Ronald Regan 1981-1989 6.George H.W Bush 1989-1993(collapse in from of camera at a banquet organise by japanese govt).my point is,only God can grant one good health and with age comes ill-health,even if u hv a multi million health facilities, ill health and death are inevitable |
Just Negodu Its quite clear most of them questioning the health of PMB lacks the moral right too, considering their own personal health condition. Just Look how they fall like a pack of cards just at sound of 1 or 2 tear gas canisters and water canon..put this side to side with a General who has fought and still fighting the rot that has been in the system for 16yrs ..the protest was needless and a cheer misplaced priority..well I wish all persons injured quick recovery |
