romme2u:I don't think they have any official corresponder from Istanbul or Ankara at the moment. Do they have? They're probably are broadcasting informations from Turkish channels. I am not trying to be a smart, I am just guessing. |
quickly:I would like to say ignorance is bless. First of all, all of the terrorist attacks in France was held by French Nationals. They were neither Syrians nor Refugees. It does not mean we Turkish people are with Syrian refugees but before you write something you should check your knowledge If you don't have proper information about it. |
romme2u:Yeah place was shelter of Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul. That's why it looks rowdy. Are you currently in Turkey? |
Missy89:Me either. |
tdayof:My friend I have no idea what we're discussing here. It is 04:18 am here and Erdogan is on TV alive in Istanbul. |
tdayof:And? Feed me please, if you have last minute news. Thank you. |
tdayof:Thank you for your sharing. It was three hours ago what you've shared. Everything is under control at the moment. |
csamii:I am watching Fox Turkey at the moment but if you'd like you can also watch CNN Turk, NTV or TRT. |
tdayof:My source is both Tv and Twitter. I've watched him on Tv with my eyes. |
tdayof:Guys, don't believe everything you've heard so far. I've just watched Erdogan on air(1 minutes before my quote). He is OK and was talking about what is going on here and everything is OK here. |
BetaThings:You're welcome. Here to answer any questions. I have never seen any coup in my life so I have no idea about what the coup is in real. First of all, to be clear no Russian hate Turkish people and no Turkish hate Russian people. It was just a political problem between two strong governments. Nothing affected people of two country. There was only one reason why they don't come to vacation to Turkey, it was embargo. When it is lifted hundreds of planes full of Russian tourist flew to Turkey. |
romme2u:It was always calmed down. ![]() |
OohLalah:My mate, I got you very well. It is nothing about you. Hello from Turkey. First of all we can be with Erdogan or without Erdogan but there are more than 70millions people in this country and they are all against coup and they don't care what is the response of US. Whether they are with the coup or against the coup. Turkey is not a banana republic. It can take its own decisions about country. This is what I want to say. |
BetaThings:1. Everything about him is confidential. So I have no idea. 2. They announced from Turkish Radio and Television which is state channel that Erdogan is no longer secular and they took the control of country under secular orders. 3. I am against any discrimination about people. Whether they're Kurdish, Turkish, Swedish or Nigerian. But pro Kurdish party in parliament says they're with democracy against any coup. 4. Well, it depends on who you're. First of all some people here were angry to him because we shoot a Russian jet down. They were unhappy about it. Now they say when we were unhappy about it pro him people were criticizing us about our opinion. So, people came our mind at the moment. That's what they said. People from tourism business are very happy because most of their clients are from Russia. Feel free to ask anything. |
OohLalah:First of all NATO country(Turkey) is not under fire. It is strange you people who are strangers think there is a real coup in Turkey. This is just an unrest from minority from army. It is unusual but, not difficult to deal. Head of the army supports elected government just like it must be. It is nothing about whether you're with Erdogan or against Erdogan. Everyone here in Turkey are against attempting coup. US has no idea about what is going on in Turkey and Turkey is the second most powerful army of NATO and does not take any orders from a foreign nation. I am Turkish National who bought something to drink from market and watching news. So everything is calmed down. No need for conspirancy theories. |
NairaMinted:Erdogan was on air on CNN Turk. He was calm and said there is not an attempt from head of the military forces which is tied to Erdogan. He said it was just minority of security forces who was trying to overthrow him. Mood is the same. Nothing changed. I have no idea what is going on tomorrow morning. |
Ugosample:It was the year Soviet Union was still alive. So, it is impossible at the moment. At the last time there was a coup in Turkey, my father was in university and there was not even a TV in some cities, so it is not possible. People unite on online against coup. It is that simple and that is stays as an attempt. ![]() |
Ugosample:Yeah, it happened. 36 years ago. Ever since I was born. ![]() |
Dear People of Nairaland, Hello from Turkey. I am Turkish National, living in Turkey. I've been following this forum for more than 2 months and I've been being a member of this forum for more than 2 weeks. I just wanted to state a comment here. There are 81 cities in Turkey and this attempt is happening only in 2 cities of country. Ex-president is on air, and he says; ''Turkey is neither a Latin American country nor an African country. There will be no coup in this country. This is just an attempt from bunch of soldiers who are minority in army.'' This is very unusual to Turkish democracy. We have no idea what is going on at the moment but usual life is still going on. We're just watching TV channels and following Twitter about the situation. So everyone must calm down. Nothing is happening. We can be against the government or with the government but we're all against the coup. Current president, current prime minister, current head of parliament was on air. In a coup, it is not possible. So, we're just watching the news. You can ask anything you want. |
hotboss:Dear hotboss, First of all congratulations for your application. I have no idea about your status or what to expect from your application but Google Translate sometimes mistranslates. I am a Turkish National and my mother tongue is Turkish. If you need any help in translating from Turkish to English, feel free to post on this topic. |
iwatch:Dear iwatch, It is nothing about what your sister knows or does not know how the system works down there. Procedure is all about Swiss Laws. Switzerland is a Schengen country and you need to apply for a Schengen visa unless you don't stay for more than 90 days. If your intention is staying for more than 90 days, then you should apply for Swiss National Visa. Procedure is well defined on the website of Embassy of Switzerland in Abuja. This is the official page of Swiss Embassy in Abuja for what are the Schengen visa requirements. You should read carefully and collect asking documents; https://www.eda.admin.ch/countries/nigeria/en/home/visa/entry-ch/up-90-days/documents-schengen.html So, if your sister is going to invite you, she must write an invitation letter for your name. On the page of frequently asked questions, it is well defined how your sister is going to write it. You should check question number 4 which name is for hosts in Switzerland; https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home/themen/einreise/faq.html#4. Hôte en Suisse I am neither a Swiss National nor a Visa expert but Swiss Embassy in Abuja's website is very well defines everything. Good luck! |
wanderlustian:Hello, I am a Turkish citizen living in Turkey. I've travelled two times across the Europe by train and by plane in recent years. My information about traveling is quite fresh. I couldn't catch all topic but you can ask me whatever you want about anything. Feel free to ask. Safe Journey in advance. |
guy007:Dear guy007, thank you for your kindness and warm welcome. Well it is a bit difficult question because Turkey has a lot of industry branches. Consumer electronics and home appliances, motor vehicles and automotive parts, multiple train units-locomotives and wagons, textiles and clothing, shipbuilding, defense industry e.g. Apart from manufacturing industry, service sector is very developed. Transporting(Turkish Airlines), communications(Turkish Telecom, Turkcell, Avea), tourism sector, financial sector e.g. But if you ask what international trade is Turkey known for, it also depends on continent. Turkey is well known in home appliances and electronics(especially in Nordic countries) and motor vehicles and automotive parts in Europe, textiles and clothing in Africa, defense industry in Middle East and shipbuilding in Americas(both north and south). Turkey has crude oil refineries and oil and gas business. Actually country's 3 of Top 5 companies work in this field. Tüpraş Refineries was founded in 1983 by the Turkish government in order to gather all refineries companies under one roof, and it has many refineries in many places like Kirrikale, Batman, Aliaga, and Kocaeli. It is the most valuable company in Turkey. Botaş Petroleum Pipeline Corporation was founded in 1976, considered one of the companies also managed by the government. Botaş is considered also one of the biggest companies in Turkey, where it ranked second on “Fortune Turkey’s 500” list with a total sales revenue of 37.464 billion Turkish Lira which is equal to 13 billion US Dollars in July, 2016. It also owns and operates the national gas grid of Turkey with total length of 4,500 kilometers. Third one is OMV Petrol Ofisi which was founded in 1941 as a shareholding company in business activities in the petroleum and petroleum products sector and the company is headquartered in the Austrian capital Vienna. The company owns 2,500 petrol stations, 10 gas stations, and two liquefied natural gas, and 31 packaging units for jet fuel. It sponsors sports such as car racing (GP2), rallying, offshore speedboat racing, karting etc. Well, under the light of these informations you may find the answer I think. Unfortunately, I am not very informed about supply chain business. You're the specialist. ![]() |
worry359:Dear worry359 thank you for the tip. It seems I haven't banned. I still couldn't figure out why I couldn't write last night on forum. I somehow can write right now that's happy for me, maybe server was overloaded last night but other users were able to write here. ![]() |
