Urgent advise needed!


I'm posting this question here because I know there are a lot of you in the same situation with me, please pardon me if I've offended anyone with this....


I'm about to submit my quit letter to my manager on Monday to relocate to Nigeria next month. I noticed a thread on the front page that says $1 = N400. I lived in Calgary, AB. Y'all know oil & gas have turned this city into something else these days, it's like its no better than naija here, the only difference is stable electricity and rule of laws.

What should I do? I'm totally confused!

Look before you leap. Nigeria is in a recession and you may need to do some research before making a decision.
It may not be a bad idea if you have enough savings and some to invest as experts advise it's wise to invest during a recession.

I will advise not to supervise(QAQC) the project yourself especially the foundation.. If you can get a trusted and experienced hand who would not charge you much that will be good. If you search for one you will find...I am sure of this. You can however be the project manager.
You are building on unstable soil and would not want to make mistakes as this seems like your first project. I had a client who decided to supervise herself and ended up spending almost twice the amount on raft foundation alone.

Hi you have a good idea... however people who may pay you well or serious clients may not take you as a professional due to your method of reaching the front page.
Think of adding value like discussing the scope of your operations,time factor,quality of your service,risks and how you intend to manage it etc.
Develop value for your brand and that will turn to money.
This may take some time but do not be discouraged.

Although Omo-oniles are down and fear no fall, the carrot and stick approach may help during your building project. I believe eradicating omo-oniles is an uphill task...however if they face some resistance from government, it will help reduce the effect on those building with hard earned resources.

It depends on what spaces you have in the two storey building... I do not have another view of the one posted.The most important issue is the functionality of your building. Aesthetics come after. You may send me a plan for review,then focus on workmanship and use of materials to make you building come out decent. I believe it's not too late.

I once attended a NAOBS conference last year, and we had a professional architect to address us....he told us that to join the board(arcon)/NCARB practice as a professional the minimum requirement is B.sc(archi) or HND with at least 150 semester credit hour. I can remember vividly, then u can become a professional archi recognised by ARCON as a graduate member... And u shldnt have compared them to other professions, cause u might not believe if I tell u what it takes to be a professional builder.

Those HND and even some bsc will still have to do three exams which may take up to 5 years before they get registered. That's is all things being equal... It may be up to 7 years or more in some cases.
