TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by twojul:
Hello everyone. I did my biometrics on the 8th of October at ikeja and tomorrow 2nd November will make it 17th working days since. My planned trip is on the 26th of November. I haven’t received any emails for pick up or even refusal. Is it advisable to call or email tomorrow to find out what’s taking so long or should I just be patient. I’m worried they’ll hold that passport for too long and I need it to travel back to school on the 26th of December.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by twojul: 10:57am On Oct 31, 2020
Please what email address did you send it to?
I did my biometrics on the 8th of October and yesterday 30th October made it 16 working days and I’m yet to receive any pick up email.

Sanmigbola:
I need advice o.
I did my biometric on the 29th of September, till now no passport collection mail, sent a mail on the 26th of October concerning my visa decision and I got a response that it will be escalated.

My vacation is suppose to be 19th November. Hope the date of vacation won't affect visa decision and what could be the cause of the delay?

Did you use your Nigerian card to pay for the email cost?
Sanmigbola:

Please where did you do your biometrics and what’s the email address you sent the email to? Let me start preparing my draft
Sanmigbola:
Yours is better, I did my biometric since on the 29th of Sept. and till now no response. Have sent a mail and I was told my "application is been reviewed and currently awaiting a decision ".

Guys please advice me on what else I can do. Is this a good sign and what could be the cause of the delay ?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by twojul:
Guys today will make it the 13th working day since my biometrics at Ikeja. I haven’t received any emails and when I check “track you application” it’s still at “received by DMC”. My proposed trip is in a months time. And I’ll be travelling back to school from the UK so I can’t afford for my passport to be trapped indefinitely. Should I be worried or just relax?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by twojul: 3:32am On Oct 27, 2020

I did my biometrics on the 8th and haven’t gotten my passport back. Does this mean they won’t dispatch any passports? That’s is if this curfew gets lifted

Thank you for responding
When my dad transfers the money every month he usually puts a note saying student up keep and that is showing in the statement. I can't use his statement this time cos he doesn't have sufficient funds.

As i'm a student would that not prove that i'll have to return to my uni and not stay indefinitely in the UK?

bigtt76:
2. I am sponsoring myself this time with my monthly student upkeep money that accumulated over 6 months since i've been in nigeria and not paying any bills. That's why i'm using my own statement from my savings account.

You need to show the source of the upkeep money, that it is constant and show that you will always come back to it after your trip ended

3. My friend just said they are inviting me and i'll be staying with them. They also stated where they work in the letter.

6. My friend didn't say if they'll accommodate me in the letter but they will be accommodating me and i wrote in the form that'll be staying with them.

Your friend needs to attach his tenancy agreement and proofs that they can accommodate you without strain

4. My friend only attached passport but no pay slip.

Since your friend is inviting you over, you technically are his responsibility and must prove capable of that through the presentation of pay slips and or bank statements in addition to tenancy agreements etc.

Note that it might be difficult sponsoring yourself as a student for a UK visa because there's no assurance that you would return to your home country except you can otherwise convince the visa officer

Please for those who chose self service do you upload your application form pdf and the checklist or do you print those out and take it as hard copy to the biometrics appointment.

1. Ive always answered "other source of income - allowance from family or friends" cos i am a student so i dont have a source of income but on my previous uk trips, my dad has always been my sponsor and i use his bank statement showing his monthly pension.

bigtt76:
1. What is your source of income?
2. Who is sponsoring your trip?
3. What role will your friend play in the visit? (
4. Did your friend attach his/her source of income?
5. Did you friend attach his/her home tenancy/mortgage agreement?
6. Is s/he going to accommodate or feed you throughout the visit?

I just said the visit is for vacation and Christmas.

Above a re some of the questions you need to adequately answer effortlessly. It's no longer enough for you to present a bank statement with fat balance and quote an amount as the cost of the trip.

Ideally, the cost of your trip (if footed by you) should not be more than your two months' salary after you've taken out your expenses for those months and you're left with your disposable income.

You also need to state your source of monthly income as a proof of your intention to return back to your home country at the end of the visit. Being a student or about to graduate without a good paying job or business would definitely work against you except you're able to tie your trip to your academic work (say for example school approved research/exchange visit to another school in the UK).

To me your case is not straight forward until you can effortlessly prove to the visa officer your true intentions with respect to the visit.

My course was for 2 months and i stayed for 6 months. But when i applied i wrote in my form that even tho the course was 2 months, i had applied to another institution and if they accept me i'll stay back to do that course to but i won't stay more than 6 months.
2. Yes I'm a student at a uni in Jamaica.
3. I've been to Barbados to visit about 3 times and I've transited through Antigua, Dominica and Trinidad and i put my transited countries also in the part of the form where they asked.
4. I've travelled to the uk twice before for visit. First time i applied for 6 months visa and the second time for 2 years visa. The third time was for the courses and i was issued a short study visa. I also have a an expired US visa in my passport that i never used.

giselle237:

The person inviting me sent me their passport page as supporting document however it’s a picture of the passport. The full details and the numbers at the bottom are visible but very little bit of the corners didnt enter the photo and I really don’t want to disturb them again. Can I use it like that?

Hello everyone. I’m trying to book my appointment for ikeja and all the dates I’m seeing are for premium lounge. Is this how is usually is? If I pay for this premium (42k) will I still pay for anything else at the appointment? I’ve selected self service and will upload all my docs myself to save cost

I loaded my paga e-wallet by transferring from my bank account using internet banking (you can use mobile app too). Then went to the UK visa page for payment. I then selected paga, it took me to my paga account where i logged in and paid. You need to have a paga account.
Thank you for the info

Jktk:
Tier 4 Visa Timeline: 11 working days (Standard)

Received CAS: 1st Sept (Was delayed)
Application: 2nd Sept
Biometrics: 7th Sept (walk-in at tls Ikeja)
Received email from Uni that CAS has been used: 8th Sept
Received not straightforward email: 11th Sept
Received decision has been made: 18 Sept
Pick-up email: 22nd Sept
Collection: 22nd Sept, 2020

Visa Status: Approved!

No interview at tls center Ikeja, no follow-up interview on phone. Just drop off. It's a rare privilege.

Lesson learned:
Make your application as simple as possible and avoid unnecessary info and explanation in the name of cover letter. Experience indeed is the best teacher...I learnt the hard way.

ALL THE BEST GUYS.
Congratulations. Do you have to pay for walk in? And how difficult is it to obtain a walk in appointment. Can I just show up and be attended to without booking a biometrics appointment prior?

Thank you

Please can someone post the direct link to the UK visa application website? When I use this one https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome
there aren’t options for me to select my location so I can’t proceed.

I will strongly recommend paga. I paid my IHS and visa fee yesterday using it. By my calculation, the exchange rate used was 383 naira to 1 dollar. This is the cheapest around. When you get to the payment page, just select visa and click the back button, you will see paga verve, you would also see paga, select paga you will then login with your paga credentials (I would advice you open a paga account, it operates just like a normal savings account) and simply use a click to pay.
Please what card did you use. (Bank name and of it was MasterCard or verve). Thank you

Please people of God has anyone here paid for their visa with paga using a naira master card? I use GTB and it’s not working. I’m trying to pay for a 5 year Uk visit visa and the total amount is $890. Also I plan to travel on the 25th of November.

Does anyone know if I’ll be able to get a biometrics date at IKEA by Friday this week (25th September)? Can I do a walk in and is there a fee? Please help!!

I did my biometrics today (Abuja) and I asked if I could pay for priority service as a first time applicant and they said yes, and I did for £220 extra. I hope they don’t Bleep me up. I just want the decision to come out ASAP to avoid unnecessary heart attack
Did you pay online or paid with card/cash after you asked them verbally at your biometrics appointment?

Please who knows the method of payment for US Visa reciprocity fee for B1/B2 or F1 at the US Embassy or Consulate.
Can approved applicants pay in cash or are there other methods accepted? Thanks
I’m not sure where you’re applying from but I paid with my card at the embassy.

Hello people,

I applied for a short term study visa for July 2019 and it ran from Aug 2019 to Feb 2020 and i used it for a 6 month course from Aug 2019 to Feb 2020. I have a one month course in Dec 2020 ans I’m thinking of applying in October for the visa but I don’t know if it’s too soon to apply to another short term study visa. Please does anyone know if this is allowed or I have to let some more time pass before using this route again and if so how much time?
Thank you.
