Gentiger: Let me begin by thanking you all. You're all truly wonderful and dearly loved. I left the house by 4:45am and arrived 5:20am. We observed all the necessary protocols and the checks and got ushered in. I purposely sat in such a away as to have a clear view of the white lady everyone dreads. I needed to inderstand her methods, temperament and ideology should in case I am sent to her.

She denied virtualy everyone who got to her desk. I realized it's not about the woman. It's about the applicants who come ill-prepared. She wants to be sure you TRULY MERIT the visa. Her question are not difficult but tricky and searching. From my interactions with her, I figured she must be a lawyer or someone with legal exposure. She asked me questions, more of a cross examination using legal terms known only to legal minds.

Now this is the secret to dealing with her. Learn forward and look her right in the eyes. That makes her uncomfortable and less composed. It's like turning the table against her. Answer her questions with CONFIDENCE even If you're not so sure of the answers. Maintain eye contact and be polite to a fault. Her approach could make you edgy and could provoke anger in her which always prompts her to deny without mercy. Keep a smiling face and raise your pitch when responding to her query. Use gestures too. All these played out to my favour. Above all, I realized she appreciates good command of English Language. But really, how can you claim to be a graduate and unable to make a sentence that's error-free? Let's polish our vocab.

Me: Good morning lady (with smiles)
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: Do you swear to tell the truth?
Me: (Still smiling) Absolutely. I do.
Co: Put your fingers on the machine. I want to capture your prints.
Me: Ok maam.....
She takes my prints .....
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: What's your highest Qualification?
Me: LLB, BL.
Co: Which aspect of law are you specialized in?
Me: Bla bla bla.
Co: Tell me all you know about a valid contract and what makes a contract enforceable?
Me: I lectured her with decided cases and statutory provisions
Co: Tell me the aspect of law you find difficult.
Me: I told her.
To my surprise she began to lecture me on it. I chip in facts from time to time to buttress her points.
Co: Have your original documents
Me: Thank you maam! (With a broad smile)
Co: I am going to issue you a visa.

There were two sheets before her. One was for denial and the other for approval. She pulled the paper, circled an address and asked me to pick my visa on Friday next week. I enjoyed my time with her. I am sure she enjoyed my company. She's such a lovely Angel to chit-chat with.

Gentiger: It's Geeeentiiiigeeeeer!!! I had a chit-chat with the CO today and it turned out beautifully well. Like I did say, it was a gentlemanly conversation and everything turned out pretty well. I'll squeeze out all the juicy details later, but for now, let me contain the overwhelming joy with prayers of thanksgiving to the FATHER!!! Catch you later guys!!!!

adzovia: i got the shock of my life when i went to pick the mail today and i saw my name on one of the envelopes. i was expecting my ssn since i was told to wait for 21 days. i opened the envelope low and behold it is my green card. people my permanent residence card came even before my ssn. i am soo happy. the battle is over i am now officially a permanent resident with proof

Guys lets shout haleluya to his name. I had my interview dis morning, its interesting because dis forum has been soo much of help to me ive read thru peoples interview and prepared enough for dis but i was surprised after payin my visa fee to d cashier and waited for about 40mins i was called to window 6 where a white gentle man interviewed me but u wouldnt believe dis he didnt ask me any question, all he said was come dis date for ur visa and i answered thank u.

i ve learnt sumtin today guys if u knw u meet d requirement jst prove it with d needed documents don't go with soo many documents because it sumtimes pop soo many question.Thanx to God n every1

well my interview was i like most of the house members it was so brief i was asked only three quastions
1,are u marryed
2,do u have kids and
3,to which state are u intended to go
that was it,then the nice young american ledy said CONGRADULATION YOUR VISA IS APPROVED...
btw guys before the interview i was told applicants b/n age group 18 and 25 have to sign a paper which says with in one month of my arrival i have to register to the military and take the course,in order to an applicant b/n the age group to be interviewed he/she have to sign the form,actually i wNted to join the military for some time so it was not a problem for me but there were some ppl who were not happy with that,i dont know if it is applied for nigeria but info is power...i love u all,God bless u all,may the almighty God be with u all...

Just go dere & succeed? dey dont even ask me about my education and even mistake wey dey 4 my birth certificate and police report After thumb print, & take oath CO. Have u apply for US Visa before? oojomo: well, we were sitting there waiting for our turn while we listen to other people's interview and how some were rejected and some told to go pick up their visas after 5 working days.
diff question were asked from diff pple, but ours was just like the simplest: 1:whats our highest level of Education, 2: what school did we attend, 3: what do i do for a living, 4: what is my job description, 5: how long have we meet. that's all he asked us.

kinzzo112: Yestarday was our interview, God favoured my wife and I. Our appointment time was 7am, by 5.30am, we were already at the Gate, waiting. Before 6.30am it fill up to its capacity. Exactly 6.30am we were called to line up(immigrant and non-immigrant). we went through all the normal security checks. We Got there pick our tag number(B......) we sat for few minutes, our names were called for documents submission. we went to window 17, a black lady there told us to go ahead and make payment before she could collect those documents. we made the payment(660 dols). And we went back to her again. that was were God started His work! after the documents were submitted(including our marriage certificate) she told us to bring our passport photographs, after looking at my wife's own, said she is not comfortable with what she used in hair, that if we had any other passport with us, which we said no, that passport was rejected, look at how the woman was looking everywhere for us search for another replacement, at last she has to remove the ones KCC sent to the embassy and used it for us. we were asked to sit that our number will called again. Mind you before we left home, we had prayed for us to be interviewed by the black lady at window 13 cos we have read about the way she favoured people. our eyes was in her window, we saw her approving two visas to different people, So here God did another Wonder! when she was done, she called another number B...., she waited for several minutes for this person to come up for interview, the particular person never showed up, she had to drop the forms and details, she went to pick another form, behold, it was our number she called, we smiled to each we stood-up to meet her. The interview was just within 10 minutes, no long thing!
took our finger print, take the oath and it went this way:
CO: You were the winner:
mywife: yes
CO:How low long have you been playing DV?
CO: Who played it for you
CO: How long have you been married?
CO:what do you do?
mywife: i teach and also a student
CO: how do cope with both:
mywife: am partime student, i only go to school weekends
CO: OOK, I C.
CO: which of the marriage you people did
mywife: court registry and it was celebrated in the church
CO: you have any pictures from the wedding:
mywife: gave her all the pictures( during the bride prize payment, the ones during dating, and the wedding)
I noticed she was looking for some particular pictures, immediately she saw them, she stopped and gave us back all the pictures, i noticed her typing into her system.
The only question i was asked:
CO: What do you do?
me: A network engineer.
CO: ok, you also work and go to school?
me: yes
she typed again
CO: congratulations yous visa has been approved!
she brought out a paper, circle an address told us to collect visas in a later date.

My people na so i see am reach!

akshow77: Thanks to contributing and non-contributing members of this great thread.my day starts and end with this thread and have come to realize the only thing needed for success in life is when everybody lend a helping hand like is been done here.I set out around 5am this morning for the embassy but was 10minutes into the the journey before discovering my x-ray was missing,had to return to pick to it up.finally got to the embassy by 6am.After been ushered into the the embassy around 7am,payment made and and documents collected,the immigrant visa interview started around 8.30am.The white co at window14 was the 1st to start the interview.sooner enough she was joined by the black co at window 13.strange enough the first denial of the day was by the black American lady.Thereafter every other person came out smiling.I discovered that the white co at window 16 is very detailed and she had just a lady throughout the duration of my stay.The window 15guy is also detailed but not as rigourous as that of 16.I was finally called to window13 around 9.28am.

One thing that people need to know is that no 2 experiences are the same.You have to smile a lot even if you saying what you are not sure,those co likes confident ones.I pray everybody awaiting their 2nl and interview will be successful.
