See how they arrogantly refer to South Africans as their children just because a few South Africans lived in Tz 50 years ago? It is stupid to remind people everytime that you helped them So what Do you want to take back the help |

XhosaNostra: @bolded, well now it gets a little complex. Facepalm. Let me not say something because it may sound cold. Just feed the ones that want to eat, the rest can starve until they shit water if that's how they wanna have it. Why are they being unnecessarily difficult? I wonder. . Dealing with pastoralists is difficult The value they animals more than human life |

Kazikazi: Why are you using your arable land to grow flowers for whites and not food for your people?
Why can't u use lake Victoria waters for irrigation?
Why can't you take Kenyatta's land and resettle those Turkana? Flowers in Kenya are grown in naivasha Naivasha is not arable the flowers they are grown in greenhouses and under irrigation The only parts of kenya which are arable there are central not all of it And north rift , kisii ,and western And so far they are growing food which can feed them The people of nyanza are using lake Victoria waters to irrigate they farms Kenya has no food crisis it just poor leadership and corrupt leaders |

XhosaNostra: It's really not that difficult. It's done here all the time. You just have to plan it through, I guess. You know the ethnic tensions in kenya That would be difficult And 3 quarters of the kenya population live in 10 % of kenya landmass The other 90 % is where those hunger stricken people live Their main economic activity is pastoralism so when drought hits them they starve The govt should just give them acces to markets Where they can sell they livestock and buy food |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by tylann: 10:25am On Mar 22, 2019 |
XhosaNostra: Can't they be resettled elsewhere? If this is a recurrent issue, then perhaps rezoning is a solution. It is difficult to resettle people you know The only thing is build dams in those regions And enhance the cattle market Since those regions can hardly support any plant Irrigation is out of the equation |

Kazikazi: Hohohohoho.. Where is the source of Nile? Is it not from lake Victoria which you possess together with us? Why can't you use waters from Victoria for irrigation?
Kenya has too many resources.. Fresh water from Victoria lake, oil, phosphates, kaolin,Gold, lime, arable land, people, game reserves, ocean, rivers for hydro power, geothermal, etc
A country like mauritius don't have all those. But its way ahead with no starving population Mauritius has around 1 million people With favourable weather Compare the amount of oil we have to Algeria's and Egypt's How much does sodash and lime earn in the international market compared to diamonds of Botswana and Namibia |

XhosaNostra: The bolded is not true. Kenya has a huge potential, it just needs a different calibre of leaders, I think. Remember we also had the Zuma-years, which completely destroyed the country, financially. We're still recovering from that. With our current president, however, there's hope of achieving even greater things because he's not in it for the money. The man donated his own salary as the president of the country to a charitable cause. I think you guys also need someone as selfless, who'll put the country's needs before his own. With that said, as an outsider looking in, your case is not a hopeless one. It can be fixed. You're already on track with many things, you just need to brush up on a few things. Hopefully in the future people will start voting with their heads, instead of this "Mtu wetu" nonsense. Sometimes it takes a few hard knocks to finally get it right. Those with sense will start seeing the bigger picture, sooner or later. You guys don't seem dof, so the future is full of promise. It is just stupidity of kenyan leaders The money was stolen which was meant to counter the situation It is not about mtu wetu thing Those areas are sparsely populated that is another major thing One household here another is 10km away It is always difficult to help |

Kazikazi: Which grass are you smoking?
Namibia is a desert nation, her arable land is just 1% but have you seen anyone dying from starvation in Namibia? What about Botswana? Is there any hunger in Botswana? Egypt? Algeria? Are they starving? No.
Namibia with all their developments, yet you don't see them shouting " we are ahead". But kibera with all your suffering, yet you claim to be ahead? Those people have resources like from diamonds to oil And river Nile in Egypt Kenya has minimal resources to counter the situation The biggest blames lies on our leaders |

rvp2018: Maybe you've been to milder Eldama Ravine -Marigat. Not the real Baringo past Kabarnet. When you get to Turkana or Garissa - you'll disabuse yourself of any notion of agriculture. There is no soil there. Turkana is just stones....except for few river beds. Garisa & whole of NEP is sandy - from Ukazi in Mwingi. Turkana is fine with flooding because it mostly hilly rocks full of geckos and snakes. The North East is flat..and floods do serious damages..if there was anything to to damaged.
Honestly I won't blame anybody. Unless oil or diamond or some mineral underground was discovered and exploited there..no gov can justify the kind of expenditure it would be required.
With Turkana oil - that 30% that they will retain as oil expenditure will help feed them. I have been there from lake bogoria all the way to turkana Those areas cannot support any food crop They are just stones thorny shrubs But government should intervene or come up with with long lasting solutions Maybe the oil will change the situations there |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by tylann: 5:41pm On Mar 21, 2019 |
rvp2018: I worked at UN during my formative career years - and I know a lot of interventions that were being done by gov, international agencies and NGOS in those areas. During that time I got a chance to fly around Turkana and North East Kenya. The moment you land in Turkana - the heat that hits you is incredible - I think during daytime temperatures rises as high as 40 celsius - and afternoon we had to take siesta despite UN offices there being air-con. That remind me the UN coordinator then was this bully Nigeria lady - Blessing or some name like that .. Anyway how people are even able to survive there on normal day to day is incredible. I could barely walk 10 minutes - without feeling like I was dying. At night - temperatures drops - but dusty wind starts.
Honestly I don't know what need doing. Already if you factor what gov and ngos spend PER CAPITA there it's A LOT.
I thought we had this figured out when cash transfer from mobile money became the main intervention there. Drought cycle there is nearly yearly.
Anyway I think until oil or diamond or gold is discovered in those Arid and Semi-Arid regions - it will be hard to justify spending any more money there. You easily cannot intervene in area where you find 1 or 2 person every 10kms in the most inhabitable places on earth.
Cold beer there taste so heavenly - I am still looking for the same experience. I have been to all those areas iam in Nakuru Baringo is just next door Iam environmentalist And i know our fckin government has failed us drought happen in Kenya yearly yet they are no long term solutions The govt has released ksh 2 billion to feed the hunger stricken people that will not help again 2020 the cycle will repeat itself For example the pekerra irrigation scheme in baringo encourages farmers to plant maize over sorghum and millet when drought comes all maize dry ups in the farms Sorghum and millet are more drought tolerant than maize but since kenya seed company wants profits it fools farmers to plant maize in the end hunger strikes farmers April is just next door the areas that are affected by drought noe will be hit with devastating floods And all the water will go to waste instead of the water to be harvested and next year we will be here again fundraising for our starving brothers |
