rvp2018: It already employee 200k agents. You know our manufacturing that worth roughly 8B dollars employ 300K.I think there justification to create this as it own industry or somewhat divide bt Telcom & Fin.It also impacting other sectors.Factoring of mobile money as sector should easily add 10B dollars to the economy. Its certainly is a major employee and source of livehood for many.I think if you add 200K plus Mpesa agents with other new jobs created by this new industry of mobile commerce then certainly the economy is understated now.Telcommunication gave our GDP 25% jump in 2014 rebasing and I expect when we next rebase.. possibly before 2024..we should get another 25% or more jump.It also major source of tax now..transaction are charged I think around 10% the cost of transaction and we are talking more than 3B transaction volume annually.Industry like gambling that was miniature is now big and so are others Our mobile money sector is doing great We need to work in our manufacturing sector it is a joke We need industrial parks like Ethiopia but again Kenya labour costs are expensive i don't know if industrial parks will work in Kenya |

sufferNsmiling: Geothermal is much better than cole or solar panels. The biggest problem with coal transporting the cole is expensive. Solar panel you need a large area to put the panels then at night what happens, you still need to find another source of energy. I don't like coal anyway it is a dirt source of energy What do you mean at night what happens Energy harvested by solar panels is stored and can be used for a long time Geothermal energy is the best for kenya because kenya has plenty of geothermal resources |

rvp20183: Yes we have most expensive electricity - because our neighbours rely mostly on hyrdos - but we also have the most stable - because hydro get affected by droughts.
I think we need all source of electricity tapped. Good mix. But we need to worry about the base load. We also need to think about subsidizing manufacturers....so we can be competitive regionally.
But first let's get to universal electricity coverage - then worry about the cost later. I believe every kenyan will be connected to electricity by 2022 if uhuru continues with the passion he had in 2013 Cheap electricity means many manufacturing companies will set up shop in Kenya Just look at ethiopia companies are running their |

rvp20183: Geothermal is great - it can act as good load base - doesn't get affected by weather like wind or solar or hydro. The only problem is geothermal is expensive - I think cost about 6-7 cents. Coal is like 1-2 cent. Hydro 3-6 cents.
We really need to have some clean coal as base load - that way we can reduce the cost of electricity.
Or we need to figure out how we can produce geothermal really cheaply. I don't understand why it's expensive. I think kenya has the highest cost of electricity in this region I strongly believe solar energy can do wonders we are in the tropics and the sun shines like nothing else Coal energy project in lamu has been hijacked by NGOs who claim it will be detrimental to the community |

Kenyanstar: Kenya is the largest geothermal producer in Africa. Located within the Rift Valley, the geothermal resources have an estimated capacity of between 7,000 MW to 10,000 MW spread over 14 prospective sites. Currently, geothermal energy contributes 44.6 % to the energy mix. This is what our govt needs to invest more on Geothermal energy , solar energy and wind energy This will greatly bring the cost of electricity down |

That's how we look at you right now. I don't know what's sadder. The fact some grumpy safrican who hates Nigeria made a video to express it or the fact that some reasonable Kenyans are lauding him for doing so. edon21: I've seen the damn deliberations on this matter but this situation is about two different aspects Boko Haram and alshabab attacks. no. 1 is that the Kenyan situation was an attack on a dedicated settlement. but Boko Haram is waging a war against Nigeria. no. 2 is that the environmental stance of occurance. I'm aware that Kenya's attack was in a city. but Nigeria's is in a sort of desert kind of environment. fears of buried mines, movement difficulties and others. I strongly propose that had Kenya been in Nigeria shoes they would have performed terribly. why? because they have not even fought a single war before. and coupled with the stance that kenya doesn't have equal military hardware or men compared with nigeria they are bereaft of experience in wars, diminished hardware and technology. on Nigeria's part, I think its a political situation explaining why they haven't thumped Boko Haram out since all these years. You have said nothing at all |

TayserMahri: In that case I hope your country never experiences the same. We dont mind taking the war on Hausas and Fulanis if you just hand us the north. We should be exiting Somalia by 2020 at the current pace
Its not likely the attack will affect tourism. Most international observers/tourists/businesspeople have gained confidence in Kenya's ability to safeguard life and property. The affected Hotel thanked "The local authorities...for their swift response." All tourist circuits are operating as if nothing happened. No cancellations reported and no travel advisories issued. We have actually become so stern that the West themselves are afraid of doing anything that will irk us esp issuing the travel bans. Travel advisories usually have the worst impact but they look unlikely. Not even the shilling wavered against the dollar. The 20 share index actually went up by 32.31 points. And the Nairobi securities exchange performed so well as if nothing happened The response was better this time and well cordinated compared to westgate attack where the govt decided to deploy tanks |

kikuyu1: Rather, the ruling Anglo Zionist clique doesn't want the LAPPSET to succeed for these reasons: -its a key part of the global OBOR which will make China a real Global Player -will pull the entire waist of Africa out of decades of fruitless landlocked beggary -can generate a socieconomic and political centrifuge for Kenya;what happens when say Egypt and/or N Sudan chose an alternate export route instead of the Suez? They'd need an agreement with the local operator based in Nairobi. Already we punch above our weight-imagine the implications! -increased regional and national cooperation necessitated by LAPPSET operations will reduce wars, tensions and hostility, key components of the Western control mechanisms;what happens if Ug,DRC,CAR, N and S Sudan and Egypt all have a spur along the route? Will they continue shooting at each other? No wonder lappset has been frustrated all a long |

rvp2018: Exactly. RECCE squad are well trained for close combat. The GSU have worked with Isrealis for many years.
RECCE Squad training is done in Kenya and abroad. These elite soldiers go through highly regarded military training in countries such as the United Kingdom, Israel and America and once trained, this team of soldiers can be compared with the British SAS, America’s Delta Force, France’s EPIGN and the Israel’s Sayaret Matkal. All have been killed . |
