If you can't find happiness in yourself;don't bother bother looking because it is impossible to find it elsewhere.
If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things. |

Siena: I doubt Tyna's got any issues with you, I'd say she's just trying to understand.
I'm curious too. @siena thank you @poster i don't know you,how can i have issues with you.If you check all my comments on this topic i was never rude to you even though i had my doubts from the onset. I have every right to my opinion,if am curious or not sure about something can't i ask? It is a straight forward question,if you ask me the same question i will give you honest answers because i don't have anything to hide,i am always myself anytime, anywhere offline and on line. I just wanted you to know that everybody here is not so naive that we don't know when someone is making up stories,in case you don't know (that is agreeing that you are not Nigerian) we Nigerians are very intelligent and smart people and i believe that you must have noticed that you are dealing with educated people here.I rest my case. |

@poster it is not a cultural thing. I am guessing that most people on this thread are not married. If your husband is the waka about type believe me there is nothing you can do,except maybe coming to nairaland to whine. Most times i wish my husband can go out and have fun after working so hard but he is not the outing type We all need some space once in awhile,if you don't trust your husband how can we help you? Men generally hates clingy women,go get a life have your own friends, get a hobby, blog, paint, dance and do something for yourself like earning money. When you are busy with work, children, school, and hobbies you won't notice if he went to a club.Men leave their house if they have a nagging wife,an unkempt woman. They want you to be their mother, wife, cook, girlfriend all in one. @poster tell your friend to always prepare nice warm dinner ready for her husband.she should bathe, wear sexy night wear with sweet smelling perfume, set candle light dinners, buy his favourite drinks, play cool love music. If he comes back welcome him and ask of his day at work.He wouldn't want to go out again but in case he still does, don't complain as time goes by he will start feeling guilty because of how nice you have been guess what? you will then have your husband back. Please try all these and give us feed back. |
Career › Re: Any Hope For Those "Unfortunate" To Have Finished With 3rd Class? by tyna1(f): 2:21am On May 30, 2008 |
aikyg: Hi all,
I am here as clear example. I graduated with a 3rd class in elect/elect and I am not trying in any way to hold brief for anybody who is plagued by the same dilemma. I must also admit here that my coming out with a third class was not the fault of the system. 100% I am responsible for what I have.
While I was still in the university, I basically was creating my own rules; choosing to read some big books in library instead of my little handout; not doing my assignments nor writing the periodic quizzes given by the lecturers (hoping to score a whiz bang 80% in Exams since I was the bright guy); and on and on and on,
By the time I left the university with a third class, I had come to realize my mistake but there was nothing I could do about it. My not so bright friends who managed to get 2-2 by "fire by force" were already getting cool jobs, while I was still trying to find my feet. Even members of my extended family who saw me as some bright dude were beginning to question my intellectual pedigree. Infact to everybody I was not fit to be called a graduate.
However, I realized that I needed to do something; I had to fight back. I picked up what pieces that was left of my life and started my journey into the labour jungle. The first job I applied for I was not even invited. The second one I was invited and after the series of interview, only I was taken. The next Job I applied for was for people with 2-1 and again only I was taken. God so kind it has always been like this ever since.
You may be wondering how I got to change a situation so bad as my fate after graduation to a success story. Wonder no more. These are exactly what I did:
1, Look for the kind of job you really want to do and the sort of place you really want to work.
In my case I listed MTN, GLO, NLNG, SHELL, Major Airlines.
2, Find out what the employers want and compare them with what you have at the moment.
You will notice that all of these employers want 2-1 and you do not have that. But the good thing is that there are other requirements apart from the 2-1. Work on those requirements. Example: Job Title ======>Core Network Engineer Requirements===>Graduate of Electrical or Computer Engineer, 2-1, 3+ years at position of IP network engineer, networking, servers, UNIX & Windows OS, CISCO knowledge, responsibility, sense for detail, accuracy, proactivity, self-activity. If you are already like me, the only thing I do not have here is a 2-1 and 3+ years IP n/w experience. But any good recruiter will forgive you that sin, if you're able to prove that you know your onions with the rest.
3, Train for the job
I started training for comptia Network+. After that I trained for server+, then I moved to Unix. On completing Unix I moved to Cisco, which we did with windows server. By the time I was done, I was already a marketable commodity.
4, Learn a Foreign Language
This will broaden you horizon. So if you learn French you can work in French speaking country like Cameroon, Niger, Togo, etc
The truth is that if you graduated with a third class, you can rewrite your own story and you can work anywhere; all you need is a good planning and careful implementation. A least I am living evidence.
Good Luck. I love the fact that you did not blame the system but yourself and that was why you were able to do a positive thing with what you got. "the best years of your life are the ones in which you decides that your problems are your own.You do not blame on your parents, the ecology or the president, you realise that you control your destiny". |

Business › Re: I Need Tips On Fast Food Business (especially In Relation To Control) by tyna1(f): 3:15pm On May 28, 2008 |
lucabrasi: the only thing i can see you doing is to nominate someone prolly from your family to stand in for you,as for checks there isnt any foll proof check on that kind of business because it deals with volumes and you can't really adequately quantify rice or beans or flour e.t.c thats why u see that all the fast food businesses are manned by their owners, even established ones like tfc and tantalizers, the owners still resume there everyday, it is extremely lucrative but you have to be sure of who you r going in business with because its money we r talking about here, don't let anyone use your money to set him/herself up for life,i v seen it happen before where smthn like this happened and the other person started going diabolic on the main partner's ass, you can keep your money in a high yield short term investment till your ready for the business, no matter when or how long, there ll always be room for one more eatery so don't let anyone use the naija thing foryou that it ll be flooded , 20 years from now food business will still need more people. Your advice was very sound but i will disagree with you on the point of nominating someone from her family, that is a big no no in a business like that.Is either the family member starts behaving like the owner causing misunderstanding between the two partners,or something else. I suggest you write a formal legal contract with your partner with both your lawyers present to go through the documents. This is your money and the other person's business idea,he might wake up one morning and decides to give you back your money which you invested of which he has made returns from or you might decides that you should be earning more money than him since you brought 80% of the capital. You have to agree on these issues and document it before investing your money. If all these are stated from the onset, you don't have to be there everyday,if you trust him enough to invest your money on him i think you should give him some freedom to run the business. Goodluck! |
