Is it possible for an individual to be stamped for only 11 days at port of entry? for a 3months visa
I'm not sure but I think your duration depends on the conditions of your visa and not what the airport official stamps.

Hello House, I want to pay a visit to SA this time not for greener pasture but for visit, I want to spend not more than 160k including ticket . I will be spending five days because of work committment, my friend who is a south Africa citizen will be sponsoringe, can he send document required to the south African high commission or will I have to take it there myself.what document does he need to send.he works in a bank
Do you mean you don't want your host to spend more than 160k? If you meant you and your host combined don't want to spend more than 160k, then it is not possible. Visa Application processing and supporting documents is more than 40k. Air ticket is about 110k. That's 150k already. Plus do you even have a passport already?

good afternoon to you. my name is Akintunde, a newly registered member on this forum. i was adviced by a friend to join to enable me ask my questions directly and that i would definately get the help i urgently needed. i have intentions of travelling to south africa to study at masters level. I have my degree in Agricultural Economics here with a Third Class degree. please can I get an offer even with my class of grade in Agricultural related postgraduate and any university that can easily get me admitted I will deeply appreciate your suggestions. and the steps I neeed to take to get the admission letter. thank you all very much so I can be able to get enrolled with the next available course start date
Hmmmmm. It is hard o.

I know WITS does not really check for your previous results if you apply, but they are more costly. Also, with 3rd class, forget MOST options of scholarship and be ready to support yourself.

I don't know how SAQA will classify you though. You can only try and see how it evolves bro.

hello guys. kudos for all the help and support on this thread.
one of our brothers needs urgent advice here ooo.

he was on postgraduate studies honours degree at one of the universities here and on completion he applied for masters. by October ending he contacted the sch for letter to for continuing so as to renew his permit that would expire DEC 31st. the international office gave him a letter for renewal for his master's degree and he applied for renewal.
the prob now is that 2 week ago the department he applied to now called that they would not be able to take him cos they have a lot of south Africans that applied for the same course and they have to take them first.
however, he applied to two other schls before for masters and now the 2 other universities have given him admission but he has already used the letter from the first univ and applied for renewal before the latest development from the department.

please what is the best thing to do now?

urgently need ur advice here guys....TYPOP, Samtol4, manager007, chemachie, and others......
I will advise you wait and let them issue him the visa. That way, he is legally permitted to be in the republic. Once he gets the Visa, let him apply for change of status with the new University's letter. It will cost more money (especially VFS's 1,350) but it is safer than to be an illegal.

Hello good people. I'm new in the sa forum. I'm planning to visit sa with my kid bro early next year. I'm into business of timber and the company is not registered. It's just buy and sell things so I can't provide cac and registration for the business but I do have more than 4m in my account. How best can I process this application to get the desired result. I will greatly appreciate if you can put me through with all the necessary documents to submit. I hope to hear from you all soon. Thanks and one love
I assume your company has a letterhead. Write the letters you will write on the letterhead and stamp them.

If your company does not, then the account is not a corporate account. It is a personal savings account so, just write a letter in your own name and include your passport. Attach the letter to all other documents you need to submit.

Hi guys how is O R tambo's point of entry like? I heard they turn those who don't have hotel reservations back at the point of entry.

Please can anyone recommend a cheap hotel or lodge in Pretoria like Zar300 to 500 per night.
Ma'am please get your reservation right or a letter from your host and their passport data pages. It depends on the officer receiving you into the republic. But know this, they may (most likely) call the hotel or your host to confirm your reservation. If you are using a letter from your host, let them put their phones on and expect calls from the airport.

Hi,

Please I'm in the republic, my visa is expiring December, I wasted getting an appointment, now the earliest date I can get is December 9, I was wondering if they are strict on the appointment, whether I can just go to VFS office and submit.

Thanks

Cc TYPOP, manager007
Listen, you are already VERY late for the 60 days ultimatum. Plan to go home to apply even if you get to apply now in case they are strict with the new laws. Let me take my time to explain here.

The new laws states that you must apply at least 60 days before the present one expires. You have less than 60 days now. However, nobody knows if they will be strict with that law.

If you apply and do not get a decision from them before Dec 31, please go home before your visa expires. If you wait till their reply comes, saying you have already applied, they have covered that part of the law and if they deny you visa, they will declare you an "undesirable" in the republic for 12 months (if you don't stay more than 1 month after your visa expires). If you stay more than 1 month, you will be undesirable for 5 years. So do yourself a big favour and leave the republic for home to reapply for your visa from there in case you don't get any reply on time. We can only pray you get replied on time though.

So what's the advice now? Get the earliest appointment you can at VFS now. Go to their office and try to lobby your way into applying even though your date is still far away. These guys are also humans and you may be favoured. Just explain your case well and hope for compassion. Also, don't give up until you are able to apply (as early as you can).

But you must have gotten your police report by now (I assume). Otherwise, that's another 3 weeks of waiting.

All the best.

ok, so how do I know if there is any communication between my school and saqa. What i observed is that there is no any email address provided by my school on the transcript I applied with. Could that be the cause of all this. I supposed saqa should have the email address of every school.
You can go to your school and confirm if they received SAQA's e-mail and surface mail and if they responded to that. Some schools WILL not do anything about the mails till you come and pay the necessary admin charges. That is true for AAUA at least. You may not need to apply for a new transcript. Just call SAQA, ask for when the e-mail was sent (date and time), what the subject was, what e-mail address it was sent to, the sender's e-mail address. This will help you to advise your school's registry in searching for their e-mail. Once they have responded, call SAQA back to inform them of the date the reply was sent, the sender's e-mail address and the time it was sent. The moment they get this, they will reopen your application.

Cheers.

surdik:
i will advice you to apply for a new transcript, make sure the transcript is addressed and sent to SAQA directly from your school.. That's what i did when my SAQA application was suspended ..
And if Surdik said applying for a new transcript worked for him, that's great. You may want to explore that option as well. I cannot say it won't work since I never tried that option.

Yes sir, you may come on vacation. The immigration officials will not know the documents you used to apply for visa. Simply tell them you are coming for pleasure. You should have your hotel booking in place though (or letter from a friend in SA).

Cheers.

I'm applying for MSc.
Though it is unusual, we have heard cases of people who applied outside of the application cycle. It will depend on your ability to convince both the security (to gain access to the embassy) and the consular to allow you apply and grant you visa. You will also need God on your side. Never doubt the power of prayer.

Cheers.

Hello house,

Pls I would like to know if there is a particular period within which one can apply for study permit in SA,or if one can apply anytime because I am yet to receive my admission letter, and I am actually looking at resuming in July now,Can I apply for Study permit say Jan/Feb for July entry?

Thanks!

cc: TYPOP,Samtol4,Chemashie

Sure, you can! I did mine in February and entered SA in March.
Depends on what you are applying for. There is a window within which you can apply for anything other than PHd. For PHd, you can apply anytime. Chemashie is right. He is also doing his PHd.

Cheers.

what did u mean by nt a guarantee,u mean if all d documents re nt complete, what about if they re genuine and complete nko,and I want to ask, what about if I ve an agent dat can do push out for the visa, hope they can still push it out with d overstaying issue nt coming up
Firstly, we advise people to do their stuff themselves here.

Secondly, even with all the right documents, the consular still decides whether he wants people to come into their country or not and may or may not deny people based on the flimsiest of excuses. By paying, you would have fulfilled all the requirements and hope the consular grants you your visas. By paying, he has no reason to deny you based on your previous "overstay".

Cheers.

Thanks Chesmashie, hope you are good too!
They want a proof that you already left South Africa and not going back. Thats the frustrating part. The new immigration law has in effect cancel all repatriation deposit for all temporary forms of visa, that means, all formal repatriation deposit should be returned to owners. But I dont know why they are asking for proof of final departure from South Africa before they can pay back.
They also said that for people that have changed their status before 26th may, 2014 while in the republic can claim their deposit back at the nearest home affairs, but when I went to their Pretoria office today, nobody seems to know whats going on. I think you can claim back at the abuja office but how will you give them a proof of your final departure from SA.
The final departure thingy is the problem. Who knows if they will cancel the visa before one gets the repatriation money. In short, they are officially telling us our monies has become "owo omo go" aka "one chance".

Until someone goes though and confirms how it goes, we may not know. More light guys.

elume2020:
Its pretty tricky, One of the criteria to collect the deposit is that you present a booked return ticket to depart the Republic once just before the expiration of your visa. So its like the deposit becomes your return ticket which I presume many people have. Also its a means to avoid the ease of proof of repatriation on the critical skill permit, which ought to be given by the prospective employer. I hope to get back on this too ASAP. Should visit the Embassy in Lagos in December and I will update the house on my finding.
Since na you wey dey go bro, I rest my case. Surely, you will do a thorough job with this and get back to us. I'm rest assured.

Pls guys any idea on how to go about this.

I'm actually also still clueless about that. We will need to seek for more information regarding this. I know the power of attorney is highly regarded in the South African constitution. If this however will apply to this scenario is yet to be understood.

I hope to call the Nigerian Embassy soon and hope the person I speak with understands me and gives me the right response.

Cheers.

pls what is d best account balance shot for Study permit?
Not only account balance but movement of funds in the account. Unless you can demonstrate that the balance had been siitting in that account for a long time to show them you had been saving it for your education.

That being said, about 700k should be enough if there is cash flow. If there isn't cash flow, I would suggest between 1.5 and 3M. Those are my personal opinions please, not SA policies.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by TYPOP(m): 9:36pm On Nov 01, 2014
Xeedorf:
I applied for vacation Visa.(3month)
As much as your account balance is important, cash flow is more important. If your balance is 700k and that came in a few weeks or days to the time you collected your balance while you have not had any major cash flow in the same account for the period, you have not demonstrated that you have enough means of sustainance.

Cheers.

Update on repatriation fee. Please find attached
The Director-General invites any person who, prior to the coming into the Republic paid deposit as a guarantee of the return to his or her country origin, to approach, within a period up to 28 February 2015, any South African Mission in his or her country of origin for a refund of his or her deposit. The Department of Home Affairs' Offices within the Republic may issue refunds only in exceptional circumstances where a person has acquired permanent residence permit or has changed his or her status in the Republic prior to 26 May 2014.
Baba, I just read the gazzette and they are not even clear. They spoke of forfeiture and yet if you are still in the Republic with a Temporary Permit, you are not allowed to ask for your money.

Thanks for the info jare.

Hello pls, someone dats familiar with my question should pls answer me,I went to d SA embassy at VI today,I explained to d security dat I've been in sa for 5years with assylum, when I was coming back frm SA,they wrote an amount I suppose to pay for my overstaying in SA,I gave birth to my baby in SA,and I've his birth certificate with me(abridge and unabridge),now I want to apply for visiting visa for me and my baby, when I went inside d embassy, the lady told me to go and bring the slip dat they wrote d amount of overstaying dat they gave me at d south african airport, when I was coming to nigeria, she said without it,I can't be allowed back into south africa, luckily I found the paper at home wet,so I dried it,it got some torn edges,bt the words there can be seen clearly,I called the security man of d embassy and explained to him,he said I should bring d paper in next tuesday, dat as far as d amount of d overstay is still showing there,I dnt ve a problem, dat they only want to see d original,my overstay is 3000rand which is equivalent to 60,000naira in nigerian money,so I want to ask, immediately I pay d overstaying money, how soon can my visiting visa be processed and my babies own also, pls I need full clarity here, pls help out, tanx
samtol4:
.You should have apply for study permit after you got assylum within a year or 6months rather staying up to five years without temporary permit .,your visiting visa application will be treated like normal application no special treatment and moreover I pray you are not denied because no country embrace people that overstay .Assuming you have study permit or work permit for 5years by now you are sure of getting permanent residence. Assuming you are given visiting visa how do u renew when you get to SA?are u still planning to be using assylum?since you are studying in SA why not apply for study permit and save your self future stress?
The problem was not staying in SA for 5 years on assylum. The problem was leaving SA. With "Aduro" you can stay forever in the country and won't have to pay anything. But if you know you wanted to leave the country, you should have applied for cancellation of the assylum and gotten a temporary residency. That, I believe, is what Sam was saying.

Try calling them. Please call the embassy directly and not VFS. If nothing shows up in the conversation, go there and try to find out what is delaying your application. Something may be delaying your application. Please be nice to the security men and just explain nicely. Don't try to fight them as they hold the key to your going in or not.
