padyt007:SA Embassy will certify documents that are issued by the South African State. They will not certify Nigerian documents as they will be unable to verify the authenticity of the documents. If it is SA documents though (e.g. SA ID document), then they will surely certify it after sighting the original. Unfortunately, I don't know if they charge for this. |
padyt007:Make copies of the documents, then go to the High Court in your city, along with the originals of the documents. They will help you certify it. I believe you don't need to translate any of your results, as long as they are obtained from Nigeria, they will most likely be in English. Translation is for people whose documents are written in languages different from Engligh (French, Arabic, Mandarin, e.t.c) |
ayomide8990: ayomide8990:Bros, it's possible you have been scammed o. Chances are very slim as biometric verification is important. |
ayomide8990: Mimicle101:You cannot study/work/open bank account/do anything with a relative permit. The only thing you have access to is medical services. Spouses and children have the possibility to convert to Visitor's Visa with work option while in the Republic. Every other person cannot change their visa type in the Republic and have to return home to change their visa type. |
Mimicle101:If it is a virgin passport, it's better to hold BTA. Also, please give her a letter that indicates that she will be staying in your residence. If possible, also send her a Proof of Residence (Utility Bill should do). Let her print them and also have your phone number handy as they may call you to confirm. Please stay on your phone around the time she will land as the immigration officials do call in some cases. Oh, and BTW, let her also print her admission letter. It's not necessary, but you won't know which immigration official will be on duty so better safe than sorry. Cheers. |
Ironman15:My brother, I'll be lying if I said I know what you should do. Guys, please help a brother here. |
Please allow me to be the devil's advocate and proffer some words about SA not wanting Nigerians in their country, hence long visa processing times. 1. Ask yourself, which country wants Nigerians in them? Really? Our brothers have given us a bad image all over the world. And the government is not helping matters. In this regard, don't blame the other countries, blame i) our brothers and sisters that have soiled our image and ii) our government who make our people want to leave in droves. 2. The longer processing times may not be fully intentional as you think. The embassy staff have a lot of responsibilities. Issuing visas is not the only responsibility. Unfortunately, as things are so hard in present day Nigeria, there are much more people looking for visas out of Nigeria than in the past 6 years. As such, the embassies (not just SA) are overwhelmed. This will surely lead to a much longer processing time. 3. Because of the volume of application to be dealt with, it will not be difficult for an officer to deny visa based on the flimsiest of reasons. This was not the case 6 years ago when they could even call you to resubmit some documents. 4. Ask yourself this question: The time I went to submit my document, how many of us were there? How long will it take the officers in the office to check all our documents, verify them and attend to all of us. Now, multiply that by that same number of people going to the embassy EVERYDAY! Does all these mean I condone the SA Embassies for the delays, NO. I'm just saying, look at the flip side. Peace. |
Ironman15:I'll love to help my brother. The good thing is, so is everyone on this thread that has one info or the other. Also, the questions you ask will benefit other readers. Hence, let's discuss here my brother. If I'm unable to help, other gurus in here will surely assist. Cheers. |
Ironman15:It's good you told her it will take up to 3 months. Please note that it WILL take much more than 3 months if you intend to plan well. If you want to apply for work visa, you need an offer of employment before you can apply for it in Nigeria. That in itself will take some time. However, if you are thinking of coming in before applying for a job, then you can't get a work visa from Nigeria. That means you may want to think of entering SA with visitor's visa and then getting a job. The problem with this is that you can't change your visitor's visa into a work visa while you are in SA. You'll have to leave SA first and then apply for work visa. I won't advise this. I'm glad she's told you about Cape Town's security. Cool. The same thing that applies to jobs applies to institutions. Get your admission first, then apply for study permit. Not visitor's visa first, then admission. It is true, if the amount you have is too small, visa will be denied. The amount you need in your account depends on the type of visa you are applying for. However, you can always get a sponsor to write a letter for you and they give you their account statement. Anything above 1M is usually good for short term visa. |
Olikeze1:It depends on your institution my brother. Some institutions already know WAEC/NECO so they can process your result with it. However, I'll strongly advise you do your HESA evaluation. |

Welcome back my brother. Good to read from you again. ![]() |
Ironman15:a. When you are planning relocation, especially a total relocation as in your case, it is important not to rush. The moment you begin to rush, you open up yourself for errors and the possibility of being scammed. b. You can process whatever document you need yourself without the help of any agent. Now, to answer your questions: 1.what type of visa do I have to apply for? There are different visas you can apply for. Relative visa (if you have a relative in SA), Study permit (if you have admission in any institution), work visa (this enables you to get work and be paid). Please, I know a lot of people enter SA with visitor's permit and then go on to declare for Aduro (Asylum). I have never been in support of this and will never advise anyone to do it. 2.Is SA now safe for Nigerians(cos i heard of the issue of xenophobic attack some months back)If you are even thinking if SA is safe or not, why are you considering relocation there? Fortune favours the bold my brother. Since your friend is in SA, ask her about safety/security so you get opinion of someone you know directly that is also in the country. 3.I intend living in SA as a footballer or I further my education thereThis means Study permit or work permit is your best bet. To get study permit, you need an admission from an institution. 4.What are the criteria for living in SAThe same criteria for living anywhere in the world. You need to be able to make a decent living for yourself and a place to lay your heads on at night. I hope these help. |
cucumbar:If you have the documents you need, 3 months ahead is not a bad idea. It doesn't mean they will treat it faster, it simply means you have a better chance of getting your visa before your intended departure date. |
Olikeze1:For undergraduate studies, are you sure you can still start the study this year? It may be too late to register for Undergraduate studies IMO. 1. Yes you can, as long as the person writes a letter of support and it is convincing to the officer that will read it that it is not a scam. 2. Pay fees before admission - usually NO. Before visa approval - not necessarily. But note the following: i) Some institutions may require you to make payments before they finalize your admission, especially if it is not one of the main Universities. ii) If you are able to make some payment before the visa application, it's good. It is however not compulsory. |
Oludharey1:Congratulations to the silent reader . Time to help others out. |
ZubyDee:Whao! That's really late. I'm not sure. But it's worth giving it a shot. What have you got to lose? If they give you, fine. If they don't, well you tried. So I'd say give it a shot. |
olaoye15:I can only speak about Lagos. You can buy at MMIA, same day you're travelling. Just get to the airport earlier. |
lordwilliem:Here is a link to the refund form http://content.momentum.co.za/mmsa/ingwe/2018/forms/ingwebankdetails.pdf For more info, check https://www.ingwehealth.co.za/default.aspx?q2TfuYV3NbT/6gqe9ZP5FRjzCAMBN8I6xgllPs+ay/5yic4Pjbg73uvjFDDVdyxxhia6ewBEI9jMj0Zn5ID0Ag== so you view the refund policies. |
sirgigs:Surely, it is their loss as you were going to use your money for the benefit of the country. I agree. The embassy sometimes look for flimsy excuses to reject applications. Too bad. |
lordwilliem:Which medical aid is this? Momentum or CompCare? I know Momentum has a way of allowing you to defer part of the insurance. |
Ogborokiri:My brother, don't plan like that o. What happens if you get there and: She thinks you don't look like what she had in mind or She simply changes her mind or Her family or friends convinces her not to go along with the plan her number doesn't work anymore? A lot could go wrong and you don't want to be left stranded in a strange land like that. Also, if she is an SA girl, then the fact that you marry her makes matters worse for you as your expenses will increase, rather than your thoughts that she will take care of expenses until you get your feet on the ground. Please and please, plan well so as not to be stranded. |
Hamintab: albertbosun:I disagree. The fact that it is not common does not mean that it is not a possibility. The company will be sponsoring your trip, they will be giving you all the documents you need. I think you should explore the option of the Interview visa. It may be the better option for you, particularly if the company has to step in to contact the embassy. My thoughts though. |
Ogborokiri:No. It will not be enough unless your friend attaches a letter that he/she will sponsor your trip and includes banking details. Once you buy your ticket, your 250k will be remaining less than 100k, and that's small, considering the cost of living in SA. |
Geenosko:This is not entirely correct. It makes sense, but it is not necessarily the case. He/she was not asked to clarify. He/she was told he/she could appeal. So it's his/her decision to make. While I am in support of appealing, the OP must note that appeals take a long time to be concluded and it is not certain that the decision will be reversed. However, since you intend to wait for some time before re-applying, then maybe it won't be a waste of time to appeal the decision. In my opinion, appeal and put the record straight. It's worth it. The agent already damaged your reputation. It's time to start getting it cleaned. |
2fine2fast:It should be possible. Since you have not been back in the Republic since you got the Police Clearance, you couldn't have committed any crime there. Also, since you were not rejected based on the Police Clearance Certificate, it shouldn't be a problem. Please use the Certified True Copy (just make sure the date of the certification is not after you had submitted the original) and include a letter of motivation, explaining why you are using a CTC. |
Mimicle101: andrew444: Mimicle101: andrew444:Guys, let us respect their procedure. They are not saying he cannot go in. They are saying he needs his original passport (not photocopy) before he can go in. There are lots of places like that in the world where even a certified copy will not work, only the original. If he told them that he submitted his passport, they would probably ask for the receipt, and once they see that, they should allow him in. |
andrew444:Hmmmm, I'm not sure. It was particularly about the Study Permit. |
Mimicle101:I heard there was a backlog at the embassy. They are clearing it though. Contact your institution's International office and see if they can help you contact the embassy. All the best. |
Sircreeden:Relative visa takes longer than the other types of visa. You can contact the embassy using the e-mail and make enquiries though. All the best. |
blackone1989:What's up? |
cucumbar: walejummy: Mimicle101:Kenya is not visa free. However, you can obtain tourist visa at the point of entry. I think it's $50 or so. Not too sure now. |
kuyeao123:Congratulations man. Please enjoy your trip. |
