somebody:

Happy new year Ikanium, I transferred the 45,000 naira to your account, please confirm receipt - I would appreciate that ALL my details are kept confidential. When you pay your fees and do this ASAP, post the teller on this thread so people who want to help you with living expenses can do so with confidence that they are not funding a scammer. If you fail to do this, then I guess the people doubting you would have been right. I too have promised a token for your living expenses but that will only be till i get confirmation that your fees have been paid. Also, please send your email address by PM, I will like to keep abreast of your progress. God be with you.

May God bless you in aboundance for helping this young boy.
Politics / Re: Nairaland Igbo And Yoruba New Years Peace Convention by tyson55(m): 9:20am On Jan 01, 2013
I'm loving this peace initiative between Igbos and Yorubas on NL. I just wish folks can let this tribal bashing rest for once, so we can discuss our common interest.

Some of you guys may think it is only Nigerians that visits Nairaland. No! You are wrong! I introduce one of my foreign friends on NL sometimes ago, after visiting for some couple of days, he came back to ask me why we Nigerians hate each others so much? I couldn't even know what to say to him. The world is watching!

Most times when i glanced through those tribal threads, i cringe in disgust and wonder how we came to hate each other this much.

Please folks in this 2013 and beyond, Like birds, let us, leave behind what we dont need to carry, GRUDGES, HATE, INTOLERANCE, PREJUDICE.

Like Ghandi said, let us be the change we hope to see in our country.

HAPPY NEW YEAR '2013' TO YOU ALL.

There may not be a singular, perceptible worldwide event tied to this date, but it definitely marks a special point in the universe's celestial calendar. It is as good a day as any to reflect on past deeds and commit to a more positive life going forward, regardless of our beliefs or religion (I am a Christian myself). Thank you Mayans for the excitement :-)

As the Roman Emperor Claudius said - "Let all the poisons that lurk in the bog now hatch out". The more sane and reasonable a person like Obama is, the more the forces of ignorance and wild hate bubble to the surface. The Right Wing nuts are the most disgraceful manifestation of human 'baseness' that America has seen in a long time.

The lies and slander coming from that quarter make America feared as half 'nutso' to the rest of the world. A cleansing is in order to restore sanity to America and give it back to ALL Americans - not the nutty rich few and their demon legions.

Americans should be worried really, from recent event of citizens signing petition to secede from the USA. It only shows that the rednecks ain't happy about a black man(Obama) reelection as the US President.
Politics / Lam Adesina, Ex-gov Of Oyo State, Dies At 73 • His Last Moments: by tyson55(m): 9:13pm On Nov 12, 2012
FORMER governor of Oyo State and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, appeared to have had an inkling that he would join the saints-triumphant when he died.

Before his death in the wee hours of Sunday, the Great Lam, as he was fondly called in political circles, made several "farewell" telephone calls to people, including his political 'sons' and asked them to extend warm greetings to others he could not reach by telephone.

Alhaji Adesina watched an English Premier League match with former governors of Ogun and Ekiti states, Chiefs Segun Osoba and Niyi Adebayo, on Saturday evening, when the duo visited him at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, where he had been for some months.

He also discussed politics and many other issues, including the politics of Oyo State, especially the recent cabinet reshuffle by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, with his visitors before they left him in the hospital.

"His death is more than shocking. Chief Niyi Adebayo and I were with him in the hospital, eight hours before he died. We watched the Aston Villa- Man U match together, the three of us in his hospital room.

"We joked. We spoke. We laughed. We discussed politics. He was in good spirit and alert, only for us to be called at about 7:00 a.m. this morning (Sunday) that he had died," Osoba said in an interview with newsmen.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Chief Adebayo said: "He has been ill for some time and we were together with him last night, myself and Chief Osoba and I. He was very jovial. We discussed all manner of subjects: politics, social issues.

"It came as a shock this morning when I got a call that he had passed on. May his soul rest in peace. He really will be missed, As you are well aware, we used to be six Alliance for Democracy governors. There are only four of us left now.

After his visitors were gone, Alhaji Adesina was said to have called for his dinner of yam and stew which had already been prepared. He was said to have taken just a slice of yam from without it with stew.

With dinner over, the Great Lam telephoned a member of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Kehinde Subair and asked that he extend greetings to the speaker and other members of the House.

He also called one of his lieutenants and commissioner for works when he was governor, Mr Caleb Oyaniyi and his wife, assuring them he was well and would return home to meet them soon, after which he was said to have gone to bed.

At about 5.10 a.m. on Sunday, the former governor was said to have told his caregivers he was pressed and headed for the loo.

Unable to pass any stool, he was returned to his bed, where he started gasping for breath and could not gather the strength to talk to anyone, including the medical team treating him before he succumbed to death.

He had suffered diabetes, following which he had been rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. He was moved to Saint Nicholas.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Fifteen US States File Petition To Secede From The United States by tyson55(m): 7:50am On Nov 12, 2012
There is a HUGE difference between saying that citizens of a state filed a petition vs. the state filed a petition.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fifteen US States File Petition To Secede From The United States by tyson55(m): 7:36am On Nov 12, 2012
My personal opinion is that the people doing this are whiners and crybabies. More than half the united states voted Obama in, and their issue isn’t the economy, it’s the black man got voted in for the second time. You look at all of the states in question, all of them except for florida, who I might add *was* taken by Obama, even if by a slim margin, are notorious for their racist leanings.

Think about it.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Kenyan Mother Names New-Born Twins Barack & Mitt by tyson55(m): 9:48am On Nov 09, 2012
I think this is an unfortunate naming.

The son bearing Romney's name may forever associate himself with defeat, particularly if the mother is an Obama supporter.

Will she, subconsciously, treat him differently, while lauding the child named after Obama.

Children named after parents and grandparents often struggle with creating separate identities from their elders, particularly those who are well-accomplished.

And there are few feats more accomplished than becoming president of the United States.
