Abeg, does anyone have an idea of what the individual called "Lookp" could be up to?

The individual shares some posts but has zero contribution on this forum in years! This makes things look a bit suspicious. 🤨

At this point, it might be safe to say that domain spam scores may be over-rated. I have seen domains reported sold here for $3500 and higher with spam scores of at least 70 (out of 100).

I skipped a few domains that I considered to have great potential because of high spam scores in the past. If you're daring enough, now I think the metric may be ignored based on this evidence.

Sales Report:

Is been a while I reported sales here. I have been dropping alot of my hand reg domains and have been gradually picking up better names and this has been a great move for me.

For Purchase prices of these domains, see namebio.
studyinfrance met all my purchasing criteria so I went for it. But thereafter,I realised that my buyer may not come from America. I always like my buyer come from USA. But with God and Luck, it sold so fast than expected.

Hoseking was purchased by the .net owner.

The one on LTO, was priced at 5k for long but was not sold. A week after increasing the price, it sold for that amount.

Selling domains hasn't been that easy,so you must always change your strategy especially now that Dan is closing down.

For me, it has been God, good domains and Luck.

My advice: when you sell a domain for 1k, do not take profit, go to the Aftermarket and get a good domain and price well and wait.
Boss! Congrats on these sales. Massive! I pray I get to this level some day soon. smiley

Do you still register outbound domains? I still remember your strategy of sending only two emails, though I couldn't remember your username briefly at a time. I wonder if you still use the same email strategy.

It's better you go and read about it on their website. Just search "Afternic Boost" on Google.

Don't mind those stuffs they put on the .us .co.uk .UK and .ca domain names
Interesting, and congrats on your sale!

I have been thinking of trying my hand at the .us extension for a long time but it's the so-called restrictions that have been discouraging me. And you know this extension doesn't support WHOIS Data privacy. Make I no go lose my money when they find out say I no dey for America. smiley

So I've been getting inquiries on next move after Dan as afternic don't usually accepts push plus their higher commission.

Here's the best alternative in my own opinion. List at afternic, Sedo, daaz and atom.com. Then change to atom's name servers to have a for sales landing.

Definitely atom have one of the best sales landing page with free AI domain description and logo generation for some amount of domains. This is one of my domains; bonafideenergy.com

You may consider these actions for more domains exposure.

Make Godaddy no go hijack atom again.
I was about asking what people are planning to do regarding this, but I decided to search first and found this. Nice idea.

The only problem is that using non-GoDaddy nameservers for a domain listed at Afternic increases commission to 25% (30% if you have not opted out of Boost) instead of 20% with Boost if you are using GoDaddy nameservers. But, as many of us have experienced, some buyers choose to buy via Afternic Fast Transfer instead of where the domain is parked when you reach out to them.

I'm still trying to decide whether to opt out of Afternic Boost as some people have done. I sell outbound domains mostly and it doesn't make sense to be giving up extra 5% for a feature that most likely didn't contribute to a sale.

Thanks for this. Can you outline how one goes about this?
You simply need to contact Afternic support that you'd like to be able to receive your payouts via ACH and that you have a US account in your name for that purpose. If you like, you may also explain the challenges (high fees et al) you're having with your current payout method - this may not be necessary sha but I did back then.

You can see in the attached screenshot an excerpt from my conversation with support back in 2021. Before then, I had set my payment option for Afternic to hold on to two small payments I was expecting so I could find a way to escape paying the outrageous wire transfer fee. smiley

Throw more light...

Are you saying one can receive Afternic payment in dollars but the charge won't be as high as when you receive in GBP?
Yes. With ACH, Afternic charges about $1 per payout - precisely, around 90 cents. You just need to ensure that the account you'll be using can receive payment with ACH. Your bank account provider will also deduct their percentage, if any, from your payouts.

@Learner47 In my own case, I used an account provided by Payoneer. Grey only introduced USD account that can receive ACH around the end of last year. But I guess their account should work as well since you have the routing information.

Apart from the Afternic payout fee, I only need to pay 1% to Payoneer for receiving money into the bank account they issued me - similar fee applies with Grey.
BusinessRe: What To Do To Make Money Online? by U1(m): 8:49am On Sep 19, 2024
Seeing how much people are being charged for receiving money from Afternic to Grey GBP account, I can't help but wonder if Afternic policy has changed. I wonder why people have been having difficulty with tax form when trying to add a USD account.

I thought there was an option to indicate you're not in the US when setting up your payout method. 🤨 With that done, you do not need a tax form - at least back in 2021.

I remember stating here in the past, at least once, that I received payment via ACH from Afternic and that I only had to contact support to request for that option. But it doesn't seem anyone actually did that after the said post(s).

The day seems to finally be here! I had started "missing" DAN ever since I came across an excerpts from a podcast chat between Andrew Allemann and Paul Nicks via X in June.

Too bad I didn't get a send-forth sale. sad

OkayDoc - $5k

HT: 3 years

Venue: Dan

Buyer's initial offer: $1.5k (which I rejected of course).
Congrats on the sale, bro. Saw it on X days ago and remembered the "apex" sale again. Omo, levels dey this thing.

It's because of sales like this that I think more of renewals when I register names. Depending on available budget or financial means, identify domains with most potential and be ready to hold them for years.

The real question is: will he get his money back?

What I see here is probably "social media madness" of sorts. Many of these people are always quick to take things online without taking the ideal steps first! That's why some of them are more likely to turn on their cameras in emergency situations than to actually take steps to salvage the situations.

The one or two times I had to request a refund from Jumia I got my money back without any problems. In fact, I didn't even have to return the cheap China-made steps counter I had ordered the first time I requested a refund.

Thank you for sharing this! And sorry about your losses. This is all a "pessimist" needs to discourage him or her. smiley

For months now, I have been seeing different adverts of companies offering shares. I haven't been impressed enough (based on instinct and observations) to do some personal research to decide if they're worthwhile. I mean a 50 kobo share offered at more than N30, paying at best N2-4 a year as dividend (unguaranteed). huh

I finally had time to give a bit more time to the research today. That's how I came about this thread.

Now, factor in the rather rapid loss of naira value (inflation) and possible share price drops. I guess it's better to spend that money today for something worthwhile - food, health, knowledge, real estate, charity etc - depending on the amount. smiley After all, the future isn't guaranteed.

I just don't understand. I read in the post that you quoted that the .ng version was listed on Afternic. Yet, this same Afternic has been rejecting some of my listings for vague reasons, including trademark issues that cannot be verified.

Is there something else I should do after selecting my preferred option?
I can't provide a screenshot to show you right now because I am currently using Opera Mini. But let me try to describe.

When you're viewing the list of domain names, look at the part above the filter, save, and copy options - near top-left. You will notice a drop-down field. Click on it and you will see things like Deleted (extension) 2024-06, 2024-05... Those are the lists of deleted domains in each month. Just click on the one(s) you want.

You're welcome. In that case, pay no attention to the fellow.

I do not understand how a domain hosted with nameservers like those of a marketplace would be used for spam, malware, or whatever.

I Received a mail from godaddy that someone is trying to contact me consigning my domain name.( i forgot to list for sale) the email address of the person godaddy gave wasn't correct, please how can I reach out to godaddy.

The content of the mail is even confusing, I don't know if the person is interested or something else

@ U1
What nameservers did you assign to the domain? The message suggests that it was being used for improper purposes.

Since this is not sales related, I would only investigate the claims (starting from checking the nameservers) if this was my domain. I may not bother much contacting the individual, especially since their email address isn't correct.

I have never experienced something like this, though. Besides, I only started considering GoDaddy again because of Closeouts from last week or so. I stopped using them several years ago because of high prices and paid WHOIS privacy.

I really respect your willingness to go to this length to explain. Many people don't have the patience to convince pessimistic individuals.

Motivational speakers would often say something along the line, "if you think you can or can't, you are right." The glass can be half-full or half-empty at the same time; it's all about perspectives.

For those who would chose to be optimistic, you only need to know that everybody's results may not be like those of 2sexycom, iykepromotions, AwesomeDuru, protocol, Gpexchange, iCauseTrouble, ikhalifah e.t.c. But your efforts will not go in vain if you stay positive, make well-informed decisions (from constant learning), and let God do the rest.

I looked at a closeout domain a while ago and I saw it would have a "one-time transfer fee" added to the cost instead of the standard GoDaddy renewal fee. I assumed the name was at another registrar.

Could someone please let me know if I will still have to pay GoDaddy renewal fee after paying the transfer fee for a domain like that?

Bro, abeg something came to mind regarding this sale. By external domain, did you mean that you had to register an account with the other registrar? Or was domain renewed at that registrar and then transferred to your GoDaddy account?
