I was in the same situation with you and the immigration lawyer handed everything. I was in copy of all the mails he sent to KVR and German Embassy. They had to refund me the 150k and apologize. Your lawyer need to work better

Hello, for starters, congratulations on the arrival of your bundle of joy.

As regards the inability to book a new appointment for your wife, I'd suggest you write the embassy and explain the situation to them. Also, I hope you have done your baby's international passport, if yes, you need to book an appointment for your child ASAP, then when you are finally able to get the booking issue for your wife sorted, you can mail the embassy, requesting that they merge your wife and child's application.

My honest advice here is for you to speak to an immigration lawyer. Those guys fear their lawyers a lot and am talking from experience. It will cost you money but you will get result. Reduce doing some of this things yourself. Also, if you pay for legal insurance in Germany, it wouldn’t cost you anything but if not it will cost money.

It's been over 27 months now since I started this FRV process. My lawyer came for verification 10 months after my interview. As if that was not enough, it's been 5 months of resounding silence since the lawyer visited.
What's really going on? Has the duration of the whole process been changed? I just want to vent here. My head don full🤯😓😓

Hi dear, I visited this page again after a long time. I discovered you are yet to get approval. If you want something done fast get an immigration lawyer. This is my only advise.

My lawyer just called me two hours ago, that he will be coming tomorrow. It has been a long wait. I'm so exhausted but I am thankful to God.
This is coming at exactly 8 months and two weeks because although I had my interview in January 2023, the verification process began in February. So I was told by the embassy.
Finally!! I thank everyone in this group for giving me the strength to go on with their kind words of encouragement. We will all smile at the end.

I had same issue but I wrote a mail to the embassy and they responded that it is not required for Nigerians.

I was expecting lawyer visitation but I never saw any rather they started contacting my spouse for documents. There was no reason for no lawyer visitation.

I think what shorten the process towards the ending was the involvement of the immigration lawyer.

It maybe that the Home Office is the one delaying your application. Maybe the discoverer you don’t need the verification.

Below is my update.

I applied to the Family reunification visa in Nov, 2021.

I received Appointment mail in Dec 2022

Had my interview on the 11th of Jan, 2023.

During the interview I was asked to pay for verification(150,000), which i paid.

I didn’t receive any message from the Embassy but in March 2023, KVR sent a message via post to my spouse requesting for some documents which include 12months house contract, Work permit, payslip, some documents from my spouse place of work and legalized marriage certificate.

We submitted the document on the 15th of March, 2023 and we didn’t hear anything from both KVR and the embassy.

In June 2023, KVR sent a mail to my spouse stating that we are yet to submit the document they requested for and asked us to send it via mail even though we had previously sent it via post but they couldn’t find it.

On the 25th of June, 2023, we sent all the documents via mail and we didn’t hear from them.

I called the embassy to follow up the issue and they told my the i should wait for my lawyer that they assigned a lawyer to me while my spouse kept calling KVR but we couldn’t reach them.

In July 2023 we received another from KVR stating that the legalized marriage certificate we sent was not what they wanted and we should send a legalized marriage certificate.

We became confused because we had our marriage at the federal registry. So because of the request they sent in March, 2023, I took the color photocopy of our marriage certificate to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to legalize it and also took it to a notary public lawyer to notarize it and I then sent it to my spouse but KVR rejected it.

When we received their mail in July 2023, the requested we send the legalized document according to German standard before 1st of August or our Visa will be rejected.

I called and sent a mail to the German embassy in Nigeria and the respond stating that I should tell the KVR that such condition is not applicable to us and that I have paid for verification fee but because we didn’t want to take chances, we contacted an immigration lawyer.

So in July 2023, we reached out to an immigration lawyer and narrated our issue after paying him. We shared all the documents we submitted and also the mail response I received from the Embassy. So he sent a power of Attorney for me to sign and he took over the matter. He contacted KVR and the Embassy in Nigeria. But before then we had already sent the mail from the embassy to KVR with our August house rent.

Note: During this period my language certificate have expired and I had to rewrite in July in case they request for it because I was told during the interview that if it expires, that I will need a valid one before they will stamp my visa. So I had to rewrite it and I passed.

Also, because they KVR insisted that the house contract must be a 12month contract, we had to rent another house to take care of that.

On the 3rd of August, 2023, I received requesting for my spouse resident permit and my lawyer was copied.

I respond on the 4th of August 2023 to their request.

On the 8th of August, I received a mail requesting for my passport, insurance and travel date. Then they also stated that I should come and collect the 150,000 that I paid. Note: my spouse if not a Daad scholar neither did we submit a blue card. They also copied my lawyer.

My lawyer sent a mail to the embassy on the 9th of August, 2023 stating that am not in Lagos and it will be expensive for me to come and collect the 150,000 and demanded that a third party should collect it. Then he attached a power of attorney which the third party will come with to collect the money. The embassy replied and agreed for a third party to come and pick the money upon presentation of an ID with the letter.

I submitted it to DHL of the 9th of August, 2023 and it was delivered to them on the 10th of August, 2023.

On the 15th of August 2023, my cousin went and collected the money on my behalf after presenting the power of Attorney and his ID.

On the 16th of August 2023 by 4:30pm, I received a call from Fedex that I have a package from the German Embassy and it was delivered to my door step.

This is a summery of my Journey.

It was not an easy Journey but am glad it is over.

All road lead to Munich

My visa just arrived at my door step this evening. The struggle is finally over.

Yeah but it seems your spouse is a DAAD scholar or a blue card holder that's why you weren't visited.Apart from you, I don't know if there are other January applicants in the house.

Funny enough, my spouse is not a DAAD scholar nor had a blue card.

Good news… I just got a mail to submit my passport. I will share my Journey as soon as I receive my passport.

I did my marriage at a local government registry not federal.I hope that would result in any cause for alarm? I'm glad you are done and over with the legalization process.

We really don’t know the reason because we conducted our marriage at the federal registry. So it was actually strange. You are free to ask. We only hope for the best

Thanks. I was at Ministry of foreign affairs to Legalize it and I also notarized it because I don’t want stories again. Well I didn’t hear from any lawyer. I called the embassy to ask for update, I was asked some questions and they check my details and confirm that my verification is on going.

So for now am working on the document the ABH request for.

No.. we only received a message from the home office in Germany requesting for some documents from my spouse.

this was requested by the German Authority. I don’t even know again because am yet to get a lawyer, so I don’t know if they don’t need the lawyer again.
