TV/Movies15 Ladies Bare Their Breasts In Singer Tekno's Music Video (images) by uche87(op): 1:05pm On Dec 20, 2019
Tekno just released the visuals of his new song titled 'Suru' but something has caught the attention of the audience.
Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known by his stage name Tekno has been engulfed in different controversies after recovering from a throat infection which hampered his career in the last two years.

He seems desperate to claim his spot as an A-list singer/performer in the Nigerian music industry which is highly populated and competitive.

In the video of one of his comeback songs titled 'Agege' featuring Zlatan Ibile, he paraded half-naked women who danced in a transparent moving truck on the streets of Lagos which attracted a backlash from residents and the government.
The desperate Tekno who was later invited by the police concerning the issue seems to be back again with another controversy designed to attract undue public attention. In the just-released video of 'Suru', over 15 ladies appeared in the pop song wearing mere panties and showcasing their n*ked breasts before the camera with their bodies smeared with mud.

The 27-year-old former Made Men Music signee danced around the semi-unclad women in the video as they giggled their mammary glands around him. Since the video surfaced on YouTube about 7 hours ago (press time), viewers have been complaining about the explicit nature of the content.

In recent times, video vixens have been engaging in questionable acts in music videos depending on the money the music artiste has got to offer.

Damn! that relative of yours is a LION! He deserves a death penalty for such fraud lol
meobizy:
This man is a bored writer. Any male with a relaxed mind and minimal wealth knows all this. Without all those enhancements men will overlook the female. It is no different from broke guys who use lies to put themselves in positions they’ve never encountered. I had a relative who lied for months saying he was a doctor. It took his wife two years to realize he was a mere GNLD agent.

Lagos-based ladies have been setting 'booby traps' for men who are lovers of curves and many have been quietly taking the 'L' without making any fuss about it. It seems like a shame when you step on that kind of banana skin and it sends you crashing to the ground on your back. It could be shameful to even discuss it with one's closest friends.

Funny enough, the randy men who are easily moved by what they see, I mean physical endowments are the easiest victims of this well-coordinated subtle fraud taking place in the financial hub of Nigeria where the purchasing power is quite high. Come to think of it, several men over here have just too much cash to throw around.

Imagine a scenario in which you met a lady at a club on a Friday night with a huge bust, bulgy hips and large bum as you love it and you decide to take her home to ease off the stress you encountered at work and as you guys are about to get down, she asks for some privacy, heads to the bathroom and then comes out as a totally slim person with all the physical attributes that encouraged you to go for her gone just like that. At first, you might think the alcohol you took had started to play pranks on your eyes and brains with that instant and inexplicable physical transformation. You start to feel disillusioned and as a gentleman, you might not have the courage to ask the right questions about what's wrong to avoid annoying her. At that moment, you will feel scammed, demoralized and short-changed. This is a blatant case of the regular social media e-commerce drama of "what you ordered for and what you got"

If this issue is not well handled, I believe it could escalate from verbal attacks to a physical one causing bodily harm and subsequently death.
In essence, what I am trying to point out here is that most Lagos women especially the young ones who want the attention of men at all costs mostly for financial gains have been hiding their insecurities with boobs pads, hips pads and butt pads. These items look too natural and befitting that these men even with their years of experience in the field of hunting and having eagle eyes still fall for this 'legal scam' and it has always ended in tears and gnashing of teeth.

Over the years, I have always advocated against coming out fake. I hate telling lies and I don't like being deceived. I personally believe it's more honourable to appear the way you are and someone who likes you for who you are and what you represent will come for you. I have come across men who love their women slim/athletic and these guys will never have anything to do with the plus-sized ones. They hate too much flesh and find it difficult to cope with their size in bed. They believe these ladies are not that energetic and good with extreme positions behind closed doors. I have also seen men who will never even want to associate themselves with slim women, they love everything big and it works for them. Some others don't care, they literally eat anything that comes their way just like that heavyweight boxer Andy Ruiz.

When a lady doesn't alter or pad her shape with this material stuffs, the man in question goes for what he wants and everybody ends up being happy getting what he so desires at the end of the day with maximum utility guaranteed unlike when some greedy women employ underhand tactics to hoodwink unsuspecting men. This is the same way the National Assembly pads the national budget with phantom projects and consequently making the current administration look bad.

Men who flirt around on social media have also been taking the hit. What they see in pictures are always totally different from what they get in reality. This also accounts for why some men are wary of light-skinned ladies online. They exploit nice angles, bright lights good locations, improved camera lens and picture-editing applications to come out with killer pictures which end up being in direct contrast to their actual beauty rating. Some even use these apps to allocate hips to themselves as the Nollywood actresses and singers do. They are called the 'iron-benders' and prominent faces have been caught in this act. I have heard of ladies 'sucking in their big tummies' in pictures to con men seeking flat tummies.

When the iPhone X series came out, many complained it made them look too beautiful as their looks were exaggerated. Their profiles on social media became more attractive and got more views but most men started getting a series of disappointments on meeting them.

Men who don't look at the heart of women before making certain romantic decisions have been at a loss. Nothing is real anymore. Bald-headed women suddenly get the longest and most beautiful hairs within 24 hrs by wearing wigs and a lady with a flat bum or small breasts today might show up next week with the natural features of Nicki Minaj with the introduction of liposuction. The truth is not the truth, the more you look, the less you see.

Christianity EtcSupposed Picture Of Popular Comedian Pulling Down Lady's Pants Stirs Controversy by uche87(op): 9:17am On Dec 04, 2019
A picture that resembles a buzzing comedian asking a lady to remove her pants publicly has been trending online.

Segun Meroyi aka MC Tom, a Lagos-based entertainer and rib-cracker was shocked when his fans started sending him a picture of a man who shares a striking resemblance with him apparently taking undue advantage of a vulnerable lady.

Many wondered why MC Tom, a Born Again Christian and seeming perfect gentleman will condescend to ridicule a woman in public just to thrill his audience.

In the picture taken on a podium, a man holding a microphone appeared to be commanding a woman to pull off her underwear which she did.

The man calling the shot not only looks like MC Tom but they also share other similar physical attributes like complexion, stature, hairstyle, and colour of trouser.

When the picture was further investigated online via reverse image search, it was discovered that the man in the picture was an alleged fake pastor cajoling a female member of his congregation.

When contacted by Tori News, MC Tom explained that he feared for his reputation and happy marriage when the picture was linked to him.

" This might seem like a joke but it's not. I am happily married with three children and I respect women so much. I can't imagine myself pulling such a stunt on a woman under any guise. The man in the picture isn't me and will never be me" he said affirmatively.

PoliticsSowore: The Greatest Fear Of President Buhari by uche87(op): 2:00pm On Nov 14, 2019
If you are an ardent follower of international politics, you must have noticed that there is a current wave of protests across several countries as experienced during the Arab Spring of 2010. From last year to the beginning of this year, Algeria, Sudan, Tunisia, Serbia, Cambodia, Albania, Russia, Somalia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, France, Brazil, Colombia and others have had their own fair shares of protesters storming the streets to express their displeasure and loss of faith in government. At the later part of this year, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Spain, Haiti, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Lebanon, Iraq, India, Egypt, Bolivia, Pakistan joined. Objectively speaking, these protests have been prompted by different factors varying from one country to another, but the commonest challenges most of these countries share are bad leadership, corruption, poor infrastructural facilities, and poor economy. The people feel betrayed by their leaders and the skewed system of government, hence, the need to withdraw their signatures from the Social Contract on the basis of which the government is in existence.

I have always argued over the years that the average citizen all over the world doesn't really care about politics. As far as they are informed at the surface level, they are satisfied. Anybody who is interested in looking deeper into the power play involved might be an academic, journalist or an aspiring politician, gathering knowledge of how the system in his country works. But things change in a flash when certain negative economic policies that limit human progress and comfort are made. Sometimes, it might have to do with a limitation of some fundamental human rights as stipulated in the United Nations Charter of 1945. When their general will is impeded on, everybody develops an interest in politics and they begin to ask questions they have ignored over the years.

I will give two recent examples; in Lebanon, the level of hardship was already stifling the people but the street was calm as nobody expressed any interest in starting a protest movement against the government. But the government which took the silence of the people for granted went ahead to propose a tax on WhatsApp calls and similar applications as part of efforts to raise revenues in the country's 2020 draft budget. In a twinkle of an eye, people stormed the streets to exercise their displeasure and anger. They were not just after a reversal of that proposed policy, they demanded an entire change of government. After days of resistance, the Prime Minister, Saad Hariri resigned and the protest is still on.

Chile whose economy has been witnessing a downturn increased the train fare and just like a fire outbreak, a political turmoil started. The people felt they have had enough and it was time to enforce a radical change in government.

The city of Hong Kong which is being controlled by China made a costly mistake that it's Chief Executive, Carrie Lam will forever regret. It proposed a bill to extradite offenders from the city to mainland China for trial and everything changed. The protest has been on for about 5 months and this has driven the city known for its beauty into economic recession.

Now, let's take the story back home and see how it affects Nigeria. With the level of economic hardship in Nigeria, poor infrastructural facilities, high cost of living, corruption, security breaches and lack of opportunities amidst other grave challenges, one wonders why the country's population of over 200 million is as cold as a dog's nose. How come the people have failed to realize the real power in a democratic dispensation rests in their hands and not the elderly politicians walking around on wobbly legs?

They are not fools, they only need a torchbearer to lead. It’s a case of the brave individual that will bell the cat and Nigeria which is battling with the Resource Curse just like Iraq, would boil. Over 300 protesters have been killed in Iraq, thousands injured by security operatives and the people are not backing down. A similar case of the resilience of protesters has been shown in Chile where the security operatives have been shooting directly at the faces of protesters. According to the New York Times, about 180 protesters have been partly blinded, the number is rising and the people have been resolute in the struggle. Nigeria could follow suit since there is always this contagious effect in politics like the widespread protest during the Arab Spring.

Omoyele Sowore, the founder of Sahara Reporters and a pro-democracy activist positioned himself as the biblical Moses with the special staff of authority to lead Nigerians out of the land of Egypt through the Red Sea. Sowore didn't hide his modus operandi which were to an extent reckless and questionable. He was vocal about it and this ended up being a costly mistake. Buhari knows things were about to go out of control with the organised 'days of rage' protest. He swiftly weakened the group by arresting the head before the massive indoctrination process was complete. This is the same way America weakens terrorist groups by killing their leaders e.g. al-Qaeda under Osama Bin Laden.

In my previous article on this topic which I centred on the decline of democracy across the world, I predicted a rough and tough time for Sowore. Even after being granted bail by the court, the Department of State Security has refused to release him and he has embarked on hunger strike to force his freedom. It might be hard to believe but Sowore is now occupying the living room in Buhari's head, rent-free. Buhari knows Sowore could start an uprising that could bring down his government. With the anger being suppressed by Nigerians who are now seeing the country like the biggest prison in the world, Sowore would have been perplexed about the outcome of the movement he was about to start. Buhari knows this and it has become his greatest fear.

I pray this administration focuses on governance and not politics so as to address any catalysts of a future national protest that could threaten peace, progress, and security in Nigeria. It's just a matter of time, another Sowore could rise up if things refuse to change. Sowore whose stock has risen since his arrest and detainment has planted seeds in the hearts of people and they are sprouting already. It's just a matter of time!

If there is anything you can't take away from this couple, its the fact that there are good-looking, young and fond of each other.

Ifeanyi Nwakaudu will be walking down the aisle with his sweetheart Sandra Onyeso in a couple of weeks and they have decided to share their pre-wedding pictures with us.

The couple after a debate on some concepts of photography decided to recreate their high school pictures in which they treated assignments together.

This is reminiscent of what was obtainable while we were growing up in which a brilliant boy knowledgeable in Mathematics could win the hearts of the finest girl in the class.

They also switched to a more corporate and mature concept of pictures at the later stage of the shoot to reflect their present realities. Sandra Onyeso couldn't stop laughing throughout the photoshoot as seen in the pictures.

We at TORI News wish the lovebirds the best in life as they start a new phase of adulthood.

CelebritiesThe Moment Comedian Met Veteran Singer, Tope Alabi In Person (photos) by uche87(op): 12:04pm On Oct 30, 2019
While growing up as a child from a very humble background, he regularly found succour in the songs of popular gospel singer Tope Alabi. Even when he gained admission to the Obafemi Awolowo University to study Political Science in 2005, the woman's inspirational songs kept him going in the face of life challenges.

Tope Alabi from the onset cemented her stand as one of the evergreen gospel singers whose songs will forever remain relevant even after her sojourn on earth.

Meroyi Olusegun popularly known as MC Tom never thought he would one day headline the same event with the celebrity of Yoruba extraction. The day finally came on the 16th of August, 2019 at the Ejigbo, Lagos and it wasn't just Tope Alabi that he met dignitaries like Dr. Lanre Teriba (Atorise), Detoun Praise, Evangelist Olusola Dosumu and other prominent entertainment icons in the South-western part of Nigeria were also part of the show.

MC Tom who is now a popular comedian, a father of three and a fantastic husband to a beautiful lawyer brought out his mobile phone publicly to take selfies with his idol.

He was full of admiration of her and according to him, the event has given him a high sense of fulfilment.

In his words:

'This is a dream come true because I have always been blessed with her songs right from the days she was brought to the Obafemi Awolowo University as a guest artiste.

She worships God with ease. Being on the same stage with her simply means the anointing that worked for will definitely work for me

After the event, while we were taking pictures, she said, 'Tom, you will go far in this field, just make sure you remain in Christ even when you fame comes' and I simply said an affirmative Amen because it came with authority'

Nairaland GeneralFake Miracles: The Baffling Story Of The Woman With Bulgy Hand by uche87(op): 11:57am On Oct 26, 2019
There are two sets of people in Nigeria who have sworn never to tell the truth even if the heavens will fall. They are the clerics and the politicians. I say this with all sense of responsibility. Although, there are still very few decent figures among the clerics but as for the latter, the judicial system in heaven might skip their trial procedures and condemn them to hell fire without fair hearing because they don't deserve it.

When I moved to Lagos State in 2015, it didn't take much time to realize that majority of the churches here are just mere social gatherings and business centres. They are mere beautiful and well-structured buildings with a set of people organized for 'meet and greet' purposes. Some churches had more problems than their members and these challenges were largely financial. The implication of this is that you stand a good chance of leaving the church services poorer than you came after being cajoled by some motivational speakers in suits posing as pastors to sow seeds like farmers. Due to my personal experiences and other people's accounts, I didn't expect much from the churches anymore.

I just enjoyed some selected teachings, prayers, praise and worship sessions and went home quietly. I was very much wary of prophecies because they are mostly the imaginations or mere wishes of the speakers. Specifically, I stay alert with suspicion the moment I hear the phrase; 'And the Lord said to me'
Well this doesn't totally mean God doesn't speak to some people but that phrase has been abused by several pastors. We don't know who actually heard from God anymore.

I never knew the rot in the church was that deep and stinking until a few days ago when a social media user spotted fraudulent acts perpetrated by some 'god of men' parading themselves as shepherds across the country. A middle-aged woman suffering from a medical condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) - a group of genetic connective tissue disorders with symptoms which may include loose joints, joint pain, stretchy skin, and abnormal scar formation is being paraded around by pastors to display their spiritual healing powers.

So far, 5 pastors in Nigeria have employed the services of this unnamed woman who has mastered the theatrics of stretching her bulgy hands thin during organized prayer sessions. In a well-choreographed manner synonymous to Nollywood productions, the woman stretches her hand as the pastors intensified prayers and their audience cheered as they experienced 'signs and wonders' to prove that their leader has a connection with God.

The pastors are very smart; they are aware that Nigerians are not interested in the genuine gospel of holiness and salvation anymore. They crave more for shortcuts to wealth and unmerited favours. Most people are brainwashed to believe that one elderly woman from their paternal or maternal families with brown teeth and tattered clothes in a remote village is monitoring their progresses in life through one mystic bowl of water. The pastors stage miracles to prove that they could subdue those spiritual forces and afflictions which might not even exist. The congregation follows these pastors sheepishly and their pockets suffer consequently. The pastors get richer and graduate from riding the best cars to flying in private jets around the world while the contributing members wait for their rewards in heaven.

From time immemorial, fear has been a potent measure of controlling humans. It works better on Africans who generally lack critical and analytical skills. The best way to ensure the cooperation of a Nigerian is by telling him you have spiritual powers. Even if he doubts you, he wouldn't want to take chances with you. He gives you this sort of instant respect and needed space. This is psychological tool used by most pastors to control their members. For example, specifically in April 2018, when Daddy Freeze intensified his campaign against the payment of tithes, Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God didn't bother to counter his claims with scriptural references, he only said those who fail to pay tithes will go to hell fire.

“Make it clear to them. Anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven. Full stop.” he said.

Politicians also use the fear factor to control the people. Most people wish to revolt against the President Muhammadu Buhari government due to the untold economic hardship but they are scared of sustaining bodily harm or having their freedoms denied like Omoyele Sowore. This is the same way most members lack the courage to question the decisions of their clerics as they fear the wrath of God. It's clear that both politicians and clerics use the same playbook. Even in the face of sex scandals and brazen corruption, some members still find it hard to take concrete decisions as regards their membership of certain churches.

2 of the pastors who hired the services of the 'miracle vixen' of a woman have been identified as Prophet Abbey Godswill, who is reportedly the founder of Ambassadors of Christ Assembly and the popular Dr Chris Okafor, a leader and founder of Mountain Of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, also known as Liberation City who is a 'good friend' of the media for publicity purposes.

While most of the indicted pastors have buried their heads in shame and kept silent, a church official of Pastor Chris Okafor kicked with an explanation that could make the Guinness Book of Records as the lamest and dumbest of all time. He reportedly said:

“The woman was in our church really. But you know in this issue of deliverance, some people could be delivered here and then go back to where they stayed before and the attack would return. That was what happened to the woman,”

My major grouse is not about the fake miracle per see, it's more about the fact that the woman isn't well paid for her services. She has been wearing the same clothes multiple times and this shows that these pastors might be underpaying her while they rip their members like Shylock.

Staged miracles are not new in Nigeria. The only issue is that they come in different dimensions with very creative scripts. It's still fresh in our memories how actor Jim Iyke was in year 2013 'delivered' at the Synagogue of All Nations of a demon that delayed him from getting married. He rolled on the floor with the kind of energy and skills he puts into his movies. He is 43 years old and not married till date. Prophet T.B Joshua who conducted the miracle later predicted the outcome of the 2016 U.S election wrongly. In 2017, he also healed the notorious
'Snake Pastor’ Penuel Mnguni of End Times Disciples Ministries in South Africa which turned out to be false.

Pastor Alph Lukau of the Alleluia Ministries International in South Africa also released a video of how he raised a man from dead. Less than 24hrs later, the Zimbabwean man named man, Brighton ‘Elliot’ Moyo was discovered to have been his cameraman. He allegedly died of HIV, kidney failure and tuberculosis days after the exposure.

Unemployment and poverty are prevalent in Nigeria coupled with illiteracy which has made people vulnerable. The inadequacy of regulatory bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN has made it easy for the people to be exploited. There is no quality control in Christendom. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can just wake up and set up a church and start to look for members to extort tithes and offerings from after threatening them with the hell fire experience. The religious entrepreneur makes so much profit from the religious venture without remitting tax to the government. The fact that there is mostly no transparency in the church finances makes the heist easier for those corporate con artists. The government needs to wade in like President Paul Kagame did in Rwanda. All pastors should obtain credible and verifiable certificates in theology. They should be registered and issued licenses before allowing them preach the gospel. This sounds awkward but it will help screen out some religious investors and opportunists.

CAN and PFN should also be empowered to take disciplinary actions against erring pastors and their churches. We should stop leaving them to God for judgement because they don't fear God. Most of them will leave the ministry for other viable jobs if the collection of tithes and offerings is banned.

CrimeA Closer Look At The Arrest Of Suspected Fraudster, Mompha by uche87(op):
Within a space of two years, a man with no decent history, no evident entrepreneurial ideas or viable business ventures and limited education bought a McLaren 'flying car', Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari 488 Spider, 2020 Rolls Royce Wraith Eagle III, Range Rover Autobiography and other exotic cars and Nigerians on social media started 'tapping' into his blessings.

Nobody cared to know his source(s) of income. They assembled on his Instagram page where he showcases his ostentatious life and started begging him for crumbs. Even Nigerian celebrities weren't left out, they sacrificed their egos to be associated with him. Despite the fact that they could smell from a distance that he was shady, nobody really cared as long as they could be beneficiaries of his largesse.

In early October 2019, Ismaila Mustapha aka Mompha who is based in Dubai announced that he bought the one of the 2020 collection of the Rolls Royce Wraith Eagle III reportedly worth N180 million. He claims to be the first African to buy the car which is of a limited edition, specifically 50 pieces in the world.

In one of his posts on Instagram, he once said he drives the 'Rolls Royce Wraith in the morning and Range Rover Autobiography in the afternoon'.This is apart from the expensive clothes, shoes and other pieces of jewellery in his possession. He is a premium customer of the Emirates Airline and he always flies first class. He even nicknamed himself a 'citizen of the sky' due to his regular foreign trips. Now the question is this: What does Mompha do for a living? He claims to be a Bureau de Change operator. Even the president of the Bureau de Change operators in Nigeria, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe can't bask in the kind of luxury Mompha displayed. As he showcased his wealth online, he gathered over 650,000 followers on Instagram by doing regular giveaways and people worshipped at his feet. His former friend-turned-foe Raymond Igbalodely aka Hushpuppi was also, on the other hand, showing off items that could stun the richest man in Nigeria, Aliko Dangote.

These are interesting times. In the past, people with questionable sources of income always live in hiding. They could be briefly seen but they don't want to be heard from. They avoid media attention like James 'Ghost' St. Patrick, the main protagonist in Power TV series. One of the greatest mistakes Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar made was venturing into politics. The U.S frowned at him making Colombia an official hard drugs cartel and immediately started exposing him. Today, we have people like Mompha and Hushpuppi associating with bloggers and celebrities to gain media attention. Mompha loves to show his wealth and brag. Hushpuppi takes it further by even commenting on public issues and offering his vivid opinion. He hardly denies being an internet fraudster. When he was called out last year by an activist Deji Adeyanju, Hushpuppi didn't bother denying who he is. He only did a long video detailing how much he has suffered in his life and how he made it to the 'top' and Nigerians changed their stance about him after listening to his phoney tales.

Earlier this year, Nollywood actor Charles Okocha holidayed in the house of Mompha in Dubai. He was taken around town in some of his cars and they even did a comic skit together. He must have left his house with some crisp dollar notes stuffs in the pockets of his tight jeans. This was all aimed at giving Mompha the media attention and visibility he hungrily craves for on the internet.
In the comment section of Mompha's Instagram page, you will find an assembly of female celebrities especially from the Yoruba section of Nollywood lobbying to be 'blessed'. One of the greatest fans of Mompha is a social media influencer, Tunde Ednut who is one of the top two Nigerian influencers on Instagram. Late last year, Mompha gave him a sum of one million Naira to share among his followers during a regular giveaway exercise. Before then, he had always given him monies to Tunde Ednut who shares his handles over the place. All these are done for the purpose of advertising Mompha's Instagram page to the world. He wanted to be a public figure by all means.

Other rich guys rumoured to be into internet fraud also sponsored the music of artistes for the same purpose. They make cameo appearances in music videos and the artistes stamp their names all over their songs as some sort of honour all in a bid to be identified with by the general public.

The almighty Daddy Freeze isn't left out despite his self-acclaimed public persona as an idealist, reformer and fiery critic of Christian clerics. Daddy Freeze travelled to Dubai with his baby mama and was hosted by Hushpuppi. Daddy Freeze who claims to be an 'online pastor' was so drunk in the wealth of Hushpuppi that he interviewed him and showcased his luxury home and cars without making enquires about his profession. Since then, Daddy Freeze has been singing the name of Hushpuppi just like the way North Koreans rock the songs of praises of Supreme leader, Kim Jong Un. That video Daddy Freeze made with Hushpuppi will one day come back to haunt him; he is beginning to lose his credibility rapidly.

The implication of this publicity strategies is that fraud became attractive to everyone. The younger generation started feeling it's the way to go. People started giving up on developing themselves academically and vocationally. The mentality instantly became about fast money, fast cars, exotic hotels, designer clothes and the best of women.

The situation in Nigeria made their mindsets justifiable. We have leaders who are talented in corruption and they are working assiduously to loot every day. Nigeria has an unemployment rate of 23% and over 90 million people live in extreme poverty. The Human Development Index rates Nigeria lower than an slowpoke's IQ. Most intelligent people get frustrated and suicide became the only way to leave Nigeria and start all over again in heaven. Internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo Boys used this opportunity to seek justification and validation about what they do. They won arguments on Instagram popularly used for showing off. From their colourful lifestyles shown in pictures and videos, funny handles and badly written English language, we knew them. They shared money regularly online and started getting massive followings.

During this period, Nigerian musicians namely Simi and Falz were attacked for speaking against internet fraud. A controversial rapper and United Kingdom returnee, Naira Marley linked the current spate of fraud to a payback mechanism for the pains of slavery inflicted on Africans by white men. Even one of the biggest music acts in Nigeria, Davido retweeted his view to show endorsement.

Yahoo Yahoo became a big debate online and the con artists were winning the conversations. Most ladies surprisingly were behind their backs. During that period, you could walk up to a lady and be like 'My name is Jesse, I like you, I am a Yahoo Boy and she will jump into your hands'. This is because she believes this is the 'profession' that could efficiently pay her bills and help her 'slay' to the envy of her friends online. During this period, jokes of Nigerians ladies desiring a "god-fearing Yahoo boy for a serious relationship" pervaded the Nigerian social media space.

Truth be told, most of these suspected internet fraudsters gave their female lovers the best treats, they always end up being spoiled with the good things of life and this increased their tastes. Their tastes became unrealistic as they couldn't find such young men with deep pockets in their immediate environments. This was how the Momphas of this world gradually changed our societal values and behavioural patterns although one can't solely blame them for the acts of greed by the women.

In life, most people don't have it perfect. Even the top stars we celebrate across the world have dark sides in their lives. They got their hands dirty in their transition to greatness while dealing with difficult situations but they never stopped there, their eyes were on the bigger picture. American rapper, 50 Cent was once into drugs and heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class B drug in 2011. Today, these people are living better lives doing legitimate jobs. Most internet fraudsters want to do it for the rest of their lives. They are addicted to easy money. They wish the government could legalize it and even create a special industry for them. They want to gain wide acceptance in society and be accorded medals.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC later changed the narrative at the beginning of this year when it started its incessant harvest of Yahoo Boys. Parading them on social media followed by critical comments of critics reduced the morale of the fraudsters who felt ashamed. Nobody wanted that kind of ignominy to be brought upon himself and his family or friends. They started hiding their faces although some myopic people will still argue that the EFCC should go after politicians who they believe are the real problems of Nigeria.

The future of Nigeria seems bleak with the Momphas and Hushpuppis of this world being allowed to strive. They don't look like the problems of Nigeria and many will argue fallaciously that they should be allowed to operate and help their poor families. The truth is that the activities of these men gradually pollute the minds of vulnerable people who have issues with reading between the lines when they consume social media contents. This mostly leads to depression as they wonder why a man who isn't as qualified as them educationally or in terms of intelligence would be living in affluence while they struggle with a take-home-pay that can't actually take them home. After several doubts, they assume internet fraud could be the way forward and they will use our so-called corrupt leaders as the justification for their actions.

How does this affect Nigeria? There is a connection between leadership and followership. Bad leaders are made by bad followers. There is a strong likelihood that a bad leader had always been a bad follower before mounting the podium of leadership. Most of the people who adore the fraudsters will find their way to public offices with that mentality of defrauding people and living the best of life like their mentors. It becomes apparent that the vicious cycle of corruption in high places will never end with the generation of the current elderly politicians, the detrimental values will or has been passed on to the younger ones who I believe will set new records.

How much more can Nigeria endure the challenges of bad leadership and corruption which have crippled the country despite the human and mineral resources at its disposal?

An estimated $582 billion has been stolen from Nigeria since independence in 1960 according to a Chatham House May 2017 report. The only industry working perfectly well in Nigeria is the corruption industry and this is why most of our politicians are richer than the businessmen because that's the only gateway to instant and unimaginable wealth.

On this note, the arrest of Mompha is a welcome development and a reality check for unscrupulous people who want to live big out of stealing big from people. Using him as a deterrent will at least trigger the factory reset button in the brains of Nigerian youths whose minds might have been corrupted with the quantum of malicious contents they have consumed on social media.

Nairaland GeneralRap Battle: Who Wants Jude 'M.I' Abaga Dead? by uche87(op): 11:33am On Oct 21, 2019
It's no more news that Vector has accepted the rap battle challenge being organized by one Willie Xo to face legendary rapper Jude Abaga aka M.I. At first, Willie Xo who is also struggling to make a bold statement with his own music career immediately put N20 million on the table for both rappers to have a face-off at a set date at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos State before their fans. As both parties ignored the U.S-based organizer, he added an extra N10 million to his offer to make it N30 million. This time around, he even showed off the interior of his Bentley luxury car in a short video either for clout or to prove that he is capable of affording the cash. A suspected internet fraudster, Hushpuppi also offered to add N10 million to the funds promised by Willie to make it N40 million which the winner of the battle is entitled to fully claim.

Willie went as far as giving Vector a call to prove to him that he is serious and I guess he must have also reached out to M.I too but his end has been quiet. Vector made a short video on Friday in which he accepted the challenge and claimed he just needed the time and venue to take on M.I. The caption of the post on his Instagram page read "What's a rat to a snake when there' N40mil on d table? @williexo let's do this"

M.I has sworn never to reply Vector again and he has refused to speak to journalists on the issue despite the fact that Vector's last diss song which was powerful enough to keep the names of three rap figures namely M.I, Jesse Jagz, and Milli trending massively on Twitter at the same time raised serious questions. In fact, M.I will be leaving the country temporarily to kickstart his U.S tour tagged 'No Snakes' while Vector moves freely around to promote his upcoming music album.

When Vector dropped his second diss track Tetracycline after The Purge with Payper and Vader, M.I laughed it off on Twitter. He claimed the song was wack and even went as far as stating it wasn't worth his response. He said he was going to reply Vector on the ground that he claimed M.I's fans are dumb. As M.I's fans hailed him on social media, he actively joined the conversations and even posted the diss song by Vector. Truth be told, the song wasn't good enough so M.I was confident he could obliterate Vector with just one single shot from his armoury. And yes, he finally did on a boring Saturday when the news atmosphere wasn't forthcoming. M.I dropped his diss song and gave Nigerians something to talk about. Even people who never liked rap music were forced to listen to the song in order to join the conversation. M.I had a field day and many even feared Vector could either slip into depression or commit suicide due to the severity of the trolling online.

Real hip-hop heads knew the battle was just starting concerning Vector's abilities and lyrical prowess. Vector is a talented rapper and lyricist. M.I was right when he said Vector didn't reach his full potentials. Vector lacks a vivid understanding of the Nigerian music industry. The father of one has produced good products that the public wasn't interested in consuming. It was like selling luxury clothes in a rural area, only a few people would patronize you. M.I gave the public what they want. He made millions of people including females to love rap by making rhymes with what they could relate with and capping it with nice hooks. This gave M.I much financial success and till date, he has focused on the business side of music to stay afloat. His energy is diverted elsewhere and his rap abilities have declined considerably. M.I has tried though; over a decade of being on top of the rap game is no joke. At some point in Nigeria, every artiste just had to keep a verse for him on their songs to attract listeners. What a great feat!
His special place in the history of African hip-hop is forever assured.

On the other hand, M.I was never strong enough to deal with Vector. This is synonymous to a case of heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson coming out of retirement to fight Anthony Joshua who is in his prime. Murder will be the case like Patrick Day (R.I.P). This doesn't mean Tyson's legacy will be erased or that Joshua is now greater than him, it actually means his time is gone.

If you listen to Vector's first single 'Kilode', you will realize that he came into the industry with this demeanour of a warrior. He even started his music at the University of Lagos with rap battles. On 'Kilode', he apparently talked about battling M.I whom he referred to as a 'cool kid'. Vector went ahead to win the Headies Lyricist On The Roll awards twice, and he did the longest rap freestyle in Africa which lasted for two hours on Rhythm FM. Vector who is younger than M.I has so much gas left in his tank to carry him. One of the challenges of Vector is that he is more focused on cementing his stand as a rap heavyweight rather than entertaining people with good music. This was the same mistake another veteran rapper Mode9 made. Vector would rather win the battle and lose the war. Like M.I said, 'don't just win in beef, win in life'. Vector might not mind choosing the former.

Another point is that Vector at times gets too confident and cocky on the beat, tries to improvise with his style and ends up not making any sense at all. Nobody will go download a manual to understand his music. Who has that time?

When Vector's song dropped, M.I was loudly silent on Twitter. It was so strange. He must have been following the conversations on Twitter from the corner of his room. This time, he never posted it. He went as far as unfollowing and blocking people who didn't support him on social media. M.I must have played the song more than any Nigerian. The song had too many low blows. Even though some fans tried to act as if it was lame, they knew deep down M.I was hurt and could need some time to recover. He must be thinking of safeguarding his legacy right now.

Indigenous rapper Zoro was smart enough to enlist rappers M.I and Vector on the remix of his song titled 'One one One'. It appeared MI was threatening Vector while the latter didn't even know M.I was going to be on the song.

In conclusion, M.I will be making a deadly mistake if he accepts to battle Vector. Vector might also get a black eye but I am confident of him humiliating M.I. Already, Vector has already created doubts in the minds of M.I's fans and it would get worse. If M.I is the rat as Vector claims, then the whole house has been littered with booby traps to catch it dead or alive.

Anyway, the rap battle was never going to happen after all. In this era of clout-chasing, everybody is an opportunist trying to gain more social media followers and influence. Even Daddy Freeze who is a 'pastor' or 'spiritual blogger' like a troll said dined with Hushpuppi in Dubai and released a documentary of sorts to hype the young man. Willie might just be exploiting the beef to boost his own popularity. He is largely an underachiever in music. What does he really do for a living? Where is the money coming from? Why can't he invest those funds in his own career? He promised to bring important personalities like Tim Westwood and other judges across the world, who would pay for the logistics? This reeks of 'Audio Money'

The most significant thing Willie has done over the years is not even related to music, it's doing giveaways on Instagram is which to lure people to follow him. The fact that Hushpuppi has volunteered to drop N10 million makes it more ridiculous. Hushpuppi is a young man that has made an admirable career out of make-believe. Apart from posing with cars that are not his own, he has a long history of absconding on social media after promising people money. Controversial blogger and self-acclaimed investigative journalist Kemi Omololu Olunloyo was his last victim. Apart from this, a rap battle of two established artistes has never happened anywhere in the world and Nigeria is never really interested in making history in positive areas.

Willie and Hushpuppi are being smart, they know all these and are just playing to the gallery. I can bet my life that both parties will cry more than Nollywood actor Hilda Dokubo if the rappers accept the challenge.

PoliticsFlooding: We Need Noah's Ark In Lagos, But Who Will Build It? by uche87(op): 12:47pm On Oct 19, 2019
I used to love the sounds of rainfall during my days in Ibadan, Oyo State where I grew up. I enjoyed how it beats the roof of my house and the windows. The impact of the rains on the streets of Jericho was beautiful. It had a way of washing the streets clean and bathing the green plants and trees that dance to the tune of the accompanying breeze after the exercise. My best periods of rainfall were the weekends. Mostly I would wrap myself under the duvet on my bed, partially close the windows, start watching a movie and simultaneously fiddle with my mobile phone. Luckily for me, the power company would mostly keep the lights on as far as the wind wasn't strong enough to cause much obstruction or damage.

But all these changed when I relocated to Lagos for economic reasons. The rains became unwanted visitors that could either enter your apartment through the door, under the ground or the roof. This is a major challenge that never respected the economic class of residents. The recent October 12 (Saturday) rainfall alone hit the highbrow Island area of Lagos so hard that a young man swam from his house to see his friend who lived close to him. This was caught on camera and the video was uploaded on social media. As usual, Nigerians by nature love humour. We enjoy trivializing all issues, we laugh them off, talk plenty and wait for the next trending issue we would use to while away time. We even commit disasters in the 'hands of God' like He is our project manager that needs no budget to embark on operations; then it happens again and possibly in a more severe fashion. I believe the Lagos State government must be tired of writing fresh press statements in the event of flooding. It could as well repost previous ones and adjust the dates because the circumstances are apparently the same.

Natural disasters are common occurrences across the world, no major city is totally immune to them in recent times. Most developed countries have continued to hold profound conversations about climate change even though a leader like President Donald Trump believes it's a hoax.
We have read about incidents of earthquakes in Asia, typhoons, hurricanes, heat waves, mudslides and torrential rains tearing up major cities and the rural areas. Majority of the environmental conditions affecting Lagos State are easily avoidable. The drainage systems in the city are conspicuously ineffective. You don't need to look too close to realize that they lead nowhere. They are clogged and some 'smart Lagosians' use the gutters as refuse disposal systems in the event of rainfall. When the water can't flow, it finds spaces in the houses of the residents and they start to cry foul. The government in the occurrence of flooding pretends like it's working to allow the issue to die down and then moves on like nothing ever happened. So it happens again in future like a ritual. Commonly, committees whose members might never convene are set up to tackle the challenge.

What if I tell you an apparent 'river' which is big enough to accommodate a baby mermaid or a crocodile has surfaced at the Community Road area of Ago Palace Way where I stay for the past two to three months and everybody is acting as if it's not an anomaly. A large portion of the road was constructed with no drainage facility. This has not only affected movement around the area but has also crippled businesses. Influential figures in Nigeria drive through that road every day and they cover their faces with newspapers seated at the passengers' seat while they leave the challenge of vehicular movement in their hands of their chauffeurs. The incident will never be newsworthy until it claims the lives of people and then everybody becomes sympathetic about the incident all of a sudden.

The challenge of flooding might persist to eternity especially at the Island area of Lagos where the sea is being suppressed to create more lands for human occupation. For example, the Eko Atlantic is recovering thousands of acres of land lost to sea erosion by building on sands dredged from the ocean floor. As at 2014, Lagos had reclaimed 5 million square metres of land from the sea and has built a strong wall to hold off the waters. The truth of the matter is that those areas are volatile and the sea levels have been rising in recent times.

The bitter truth is that 'Lagos isn't working'. Transforming Lagos from a megacity to a smart city like the immediate past governor Akinwunmi Ambode fantasized about is a farce and mirage. Residents regardless of the sizes of their pockets groan and moan about life in the metropolitan city. The roads are so bad that the potholes could abort a woman's pregnancy while commuting. Ridiculously, a busty Lagos socialite, Latasha Ngwube once complained that the dilapidated roads in Lagos left her breasts shaking and almost damaged her bra.
People die on these roads like the ill-fated promising Chartered Accountant, Adewura Bello who was swallowed by a manhole. Much of our productive time is spent in traffic and cars hardly last due to the accumulated effects of bad roads. Major parts of the city are not only dirty, but they also stink. You pay astronomical amounts of money for rents and maximum satisfaction is never guaranteed. You end up in being lost in the paper chase in your quest for comfort till you realize your hairs have become grey, skin wrinkled, the body is weak and your retirement day is close, so you pass the baton to your children to continue from where you stopped.

Majority of the jobs are provided by mushroom companies who have little or no regard for their employees. They can't even guarantee them of the least decent career paths. Everyone is being preyed on here and there. Tensions are high and people throng the burgeoning beer parlours in the pursuit of phantom alternative reality.

The international community rates the financial hub of Nigeria so low. In September this year, Lagos was ranked as one of the worst places to live in the world for the third year by the 2019 Global Liveability Index by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Lagos’ general rating stands at 38.5 per cent - 20 per cent on stability, 37.5 per cent on healthcare, 53.5 per cent on .environment, 33.3 on education and 46.4 per cent on Infrastructure. Lagos ranked 139 which is the pride of Nigeria was just a step ahead of Damascus (140) in war-torn Syria which is ranked as the worst city to live in anywhere in the world. With these poor records, one might be forced to ask Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress colleagues to roll out the hidden Lagos 'Master Plan' which Ambode flouted to warrant his political annihilation.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu recently declared a state of emergency on Lagos roads and mapped out about 116 locations that will be inspected and repaired by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation in conjunction with some engineering firms. It appears to be a good step in the right direction and I hope the declaration wasn't a dummy move to boost the public perception of him. With the current dire state of affairs in Lagos, we fight need a 'Rage Cage or Anger Room' where residents can ease their minds by destroying objects as we have in China and America. Psychologists believe it's helpful and our local entrepreneurs could consider it an option for investment purposes. You would be shocked to see the governor in attendance as he may have some sort of frustration to expel.

With most streets at Ago Palace Way still ridden with flood days after rainfall, I fear the untold hardship another one might inflict on residents severely starved of adequate infrastructural facilities. Residents might need the ingenious efforts of selfless carpenters to build an ark to keep them safe as the days of the biblical Noah.

CelebritiesWizkid Actually Slept With Victoria Kimani Severally? by uche87(op): 1:34pm On Oct 13, 2019
The beef between rappers M.I and Vector has revealed alot. From allegations of homosexuality, to mismanagement and Jesse Jagz' disappearance and other issues relating to their personal lives, the audience seems to have been furnished with too much details.

A random Twitter user named Pearl Ometosa who seems to be in the know attacked Victoria Kimani, a Kenyan ex signee of Chocolate City who seems to have a bad relationship with M.I. She accused her of sleeping with Wizkid while he openly dated Tania Omotayo. In fact, it was alleged that Aunty Victoria as I want to address her out of respect once escaped through the window on one occasion when Tania caught them together. For a minute, I doubted it because I believe such emergency exit routes are mostly for men but it appears Aunty Victoria has got fast feet too and could easily evade danger. The lady further alleged that Aunty Victoria's private sessions with Wizkid were so incessant that M.I and Ice Prince had to go beg Tania to ease her anger and prevent her from hurting Aunty Victoria.

As I read the short story, I was deeply praying in my heart for Aunty Victoria to debunk the allegation in it's entirety. It was hard to believe. My hands were shivering and my mobile phone almost fell off. If Aunty Victoria had contacted me for help, I would have issued a very long, compelling, and powerful press statement disregarding the accusations as if I was a eye witness. But what is really my business in this case? The truth is em...em.....emmm. I will say the truth; I have a serious crush on Aunty Victoria. Since I saw her in a video with M.I (Oya ft M.I, released in 2014), during the early days of her musical career, I wanted to know her but fate never brought her my way. I wasn't alone with the admiration, even Runtown must have been crushing on her that he put it in a song. You remember his lines in one of his hit singles 'Gallardo' featuring Davido? He was like 'She fine like Victoria Kimani'. That line made me jealous because I felt he stood a chance of going ahead of me to win her heart. If I had links with the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, I would have banned the song or censored that line. But I had no sure influence then, I was still in Ibadan trying to figure life out. I thought the feeling was going to fade away but it got worse when Aunty Victoria released the visuals of her single 'Show' produced by Tekno in 2014.

My world came crashing when I watched her dance in a scantily-clad form. Then the Shoki dance was in vogue. I swear, she killed it better than some Nigerian ladies. I have never seen a foreigner do a local dance better than the indigenous people. When Aunty Victoria turned her back to the camera, I almost suffered convulsion. The curves and her bum were perfect, they must have been molded in heaven on a Monday morning before fatigue, inadequate resources, and distractions set in. I kept playing the video over and over again. As for her voice ehn...it gave me the feeling and inspiration singer Slimcase gets from Codeine Diet. I know some people will say she is short but I am used to 'women looking up to me' by virtue of my superior height.
Let me stop describing my feelings for her so that I can stand a chance of forgiveness if my girlfriend gets to read this.

Aunty Victoria didn't pity her fans like me. Her response to the tweets shattered the table beyond repair. She revealed that she is at liberty to sleep with whosoever she wants, however, and in any position.

In her words:

"I can sleep with who I want, how I want, in any position I want. So what's next"

I almost passed out but I changed my mind thinking it would be dangerous since I was home-alone. Who would have resuscitated me? I am not sure I cried but I just noticed water flowing down my cheeks from my eyes. I didn't believe my actions, they were highly involuntary. There is the possibility someone was cutting onions in the neighborhood. Trust me, I am hardly moved to tears. When former dictator, Sani Abacha died, I didn't cry. I also did the same when my neighbour's Alsatian dog got electrocuted. I wonder why I felt and reacted differently to the case of Aunty Victoria

Aunty Victoria's response reeks of a clear admittance of guilty. It is a blatant case of a failed attempt by the accuser to shame the shameless. It would be recalled that Aunty Victoria who doesn't fake or hide her feelings has been supporting Vector against M.I. This angered the accuser and she made an attempt to hurt her by going public with the rare information. To me, this news is as bad as Atiku Abubakar realizing he is not a Nigerian and then deciding to return to Cameroon to start a new life. I wept 13 times as I slowly sipped my very chilled Tigernut drink; I couldn't come to terms with the StarBoy drilling the oil well of my crush. The imagination is turtuous.

After some wraps of Indian Hemp washed down with an expensive wine while lodging in a cosy 5star hotel room, Wizkid invites Aunty Victoria to dance for him. She twerks in her underwear with her rounds hips like the Abuja yam and her bum like the front of Bobrisky's new Range Rover SUV. He smacks the bum intermittently, while Aunty Victoria not minding the age difference of five years between them laughs hysterically like the hyena. After uttering some incoherent words out of intoxication, Wizkid hops on Aunty Victoria on bed and begins to dissect her like a dead frog displayed in a Biology class. It's sad!

Let me stop imagining the sex scenarios to ease my pains. In my next incarnation, I would love to be a musician and not a journalist. I wonder what I have done to Aunty Victoria to deserve this deep and sharp pain caused by her response.

As for Wizkid, that boy don enjoy life sha. Even if he dies tomorrow, he will still be thankful and fulfilled. Aside the money and the fame, the best of women have been rumoured to have 'come under his management'. From Tonto Dikeh to Tania Omotayo to Aunty Tiwa Savage to Victoria Kimani and thousands of other women if I am allowed to be hyperbolic.

Aunty Victoria has never hidden her hatred for Aunty Tiwa. When she did her version of 'Bleep You Challenge' by Kizz Daniel, she directed it at Aunty Tiwa. She accused her of falsifying her age and prostituting. Since then, I have been wondering where the bad blood came from. I think I know the source. It might not be far from the fact that Wizkid might be marking the scripts of both parties with the same pen.

Dear Victoria Kimani, I want you to issue a full statement denying any amorous relationship with Wizkid so that I can sleep well. I still have a feeling you didn't do it. Something tells me you are a virgin and that you might be waiting for me lol.

Romance#sexforgrades: An Old Story That Seems New Again by uche87(op): 12:04pm On Oct 10, 2019
When the recent documentary by the BBC ('Sex For Grades: Undercover Inside Nigerian And Ghanaian Universities') on the spate of sexual harassment in two major African universities was announced, I quickly recalled how the problem was so prevalent in the past that a veteran musician, Eedris Abdulkareem made a hit song titled 'Mr Lecturer' out of it in 2003. The song was so big that Eedris had to drop a remix to rake in more cash. The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood wasn't left out. Movies were made about incidents of sexual exploitation in tertiary institutions in ways that made the act enticing. Young minds even felt sleeping with students as part of the benefits attached to being a lecturer.

Normally, most songs and films are supposed to help create awareness about events and possibly influence public perception of it. We all danced to the songs, watched the movies, and nobody really frowned at it. Then the NGOs and civil society organizations were not popular; we only heard about pressure groups like the Nigeria Labour Congress and Petroleum & Natural Gas Staff Association (PENGASSAN) advocating for specific interests of its members. Enjoying such contents was like a case of a failing student mocking his teacher's grammatical mistakes in class.

Scapegoats were never made out of the suspected offenders and the development was treated as mere regular rumours and possible a new norm that the society should live with. The reality of life is that a bad behaviour that is condoned without consequences will come to stay and multiply. It becomes an untreated wound that continues to fester and get worse. Let's tell ourselves the truth, sexual harassment or sex for grades in schools is like a hidden culture. Virtually every female student or higher institution graduate you meet has a story to tell about her experience with male lecturers who just wanted a share of her body before she could pass their courses.

A lecturer in my department was suspended during my first degree days at the Obafemi Awolowo University for sexually-harassing a female student. Rumours later revealed that the senior lecturer had been indulging in the act for years before the Student Union Government stood up to him. In fact, his gist was part of the informal orientation programme given to us as freshers by the returning students, meaning it his insidious escapades were common knowledge like the scandals rocking music legend R.Kelly. In another department in the faculty of Social Sciences, going under a lecturer was like a core course some female students had to take. My lecturer once cracked a joke about the madness in class and we all laughed about it like it was nothing serious. He called it 'bottom power'. The popular victims were the extra year female students struggling with mathematical academic courses. They had very limited choices about 'added times' under some pot-bellied, suspiciously scrawny and haggard-looking lecturers in their desperation to graduate and move on to other things in life.

The talk about sexual harassment is as rampant as bad leadership in Nigeria. 8 out of every 10 ladies from most public institutions of learning will tell you about one experience or the other. My girlfriend showed so much keen interest in the BBC documentary which I found quite unusual. She is normally not the news type and her medical discipline might have contributed to that. I was forced to probe further on her interest and she revealed to me that she had been sexually harassed during her early days at the University of Lagos. She didn't even have the courage to tell me her story and sincerely, I am scared about listening to the expected bombshell.

As I got to work the day the documentary dropped, a new female colleague who joined the office conversation on the sex scandal revealed how she was harassed regularly by male lecturers in her tertiary institution in the South-east. She recounted how she had to wear a fake wedding band to ward off lecturers who respected the Igbo tradition that forbids sleeping with a married woman.

It's heartbreaking to know that the brainchild of the documentary, Kiki Mordi never had a degree as she had to drop out of school due to sexual harassments. Another teary account is that Dr Boniface Igbeneghu abused a former student of UNILAG for years and even confidently said he was going to hand her over to his colleague for continued abuse. His victim claims to have attempted suicide four times as the memories of the torrid times keep haunting her.

The brazen way Boniface who doubles as a pastor at Foursquare Gospel Church led the undercover journalist in 'prayers' before unveiling his real intentions speaks volume of a lot. It shows confidence and power-drunkenness. It's also an indication of a full-blown moral decadence which is beyond redemption due to lengthy years of practice. I am forced to feel Boniface might be sick in the head thereby necessitating a thorough and immediate rehabilitation or spiritual deliverance process that could even warrant regular flogging reminiscent of how clerics in the white garment churches purportedly 'cast out demons'. The sight of the so-called 'Cold Room' in UNILAG forced tears down my eyes especially when the lady was urged to join other women of easy virtues in engaging in a dance of shame. I don't see any solution to the challenge on the ground, we can only slow the lecturers down, we can't stop them.

They will feel the heat for some months and later devise other discreet means of sleeping with vulnerable female students old enough to be their daughters. This will be synonymous with the regular battles against corruption in the political space. It will shock you that the number of Nigerians hoping to steal public funds one day is more than those presently looting like it's their birthrights.

Reading different stories about sexual harassments on Twitter made me conclude that it is finished! They might not be entirely true but it's embarrassing that people lived with the epidemic all through their years in school just like we endure terrible roads across the country.

It's a welcome development that the BBC documentary has sparked conversations and the influence of social media will help intensify the pressure on questionable lecturers but there is no light at the end of the tunnel. It's the bitter truth!

One would have thought that the travails of the disgraced and jailed Obafemi Awolowo University's former lecturer, Prof. Richard Iyiola Akindele would have served as a deterrent to his colleagues in the business but it didn't. The urge to defile young women appears greater than the risks of being nabbed.

In the words of a popular Ghanaian actress, Efia Odo;

"No difference between sex for grades and sex for a job. Happens in America, Africa and all parts of the world. The f*cked up part about this "revelation" is that its not gonna stop!!"

“As long as there are vulnerable young women, there will be sex in exchange for something! This narrative ain’t gone change. What’s really gonna happen is that these assholes of men will just be a little more careful. They will start checking for hiding cameras. God help us all!” Efia Odo also added.

The world is approaching a new phase where men now see women as objects of pleasure and this is why cases of sex scandals are rocking prominent figures in America and other parts of the developed world. Recently, President Donald Trump alone has been accused of another 26 incidents of “unwanted sexual contact” and 43 instances of inappropriate behaviour, including a claim he hid behind a tapestry to grope a woman at his Mar-a-Lago property.

The fashion trends followed by women are not helping matters but men are scared to talk about it in other not to be termed, potential rapists. As you talk a walk down the streets of Lagos, cleavages, exposed hips, tummies, and protruding bums in tight clothes are common sights and the brain rapidly processes that information gathered in the speed of light. At times, it takes the grace of God not to crack after seeing too much. The social media space has also made things worse; now ladies pose in bikini wears to gather followers, attract comments and likes. Most female celebrities now post sultry photos like singer Tiwa Savage exposed her breasts of late just to trend despite being a powerhouse already. On Instagram, videos of ladies twerking has continued to compete with normal pictures for spaces and the former is winning. The Nigerian music industry is also making matters worse. The song lyrics and music videos like 'Pawon' by Olamide objectify women. They were presented as pleasure toys for those that could afford them and the general public is loving the jam. Nollywood isn't left out. Today we have stories of randy ladies with happy endings in life; they come from the ghetto and make it to the top using the 'oil well' between their legs. The audience keenly watching this will unconsciously feel this is a viable option in the face of abject poverty or other life challenges. The actresses don't only act such roles but also lead such lives, in reality, using the industry as a decoy to evade the hypocritical puritans and fundamentalists. All these factors have gradually affected the way we see life whether we admit it or not, its more a psychological problem right now.

My brutal advice for he-goats posing as men is to go and buy sex for a start so that they don't suffer from the Withdrawal Syndrome. If you know you wife can't satisfy you or you are probably tired of eating the same 'food' over the years, nothing stops you from visiting a nearby restaurant to have a taste of a new dish by paying for it and not stealing or taking it by force. Religious people will unrealistically frown at this recommendation but its the gospel truth. It's happening already; several Nigerian ladies are selling their bodies online for extra bucks and they will readily do business with any man as far as money is concerned. That pleasure industry is so buoyant especially in Lagos state that if the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS could tax it efficiently, the debt of Nigeria will be totally paid in two years with extra revenue to develop the infrastructural facilities.

Any married woman who doubts me needs to check the smartphone of her husband for applications like Inmessage, Instachat, Badoo and Tinder to know the purposes they serve.

CelebritiesM.I Vs Vector Beef: Who Is Winning And Losing? by uche87(op): 2:56pm On Oct 06, 2019
Let's go straight to the point because I want to make this as brief as possible. The grievance between rappers Vector and M.I is actually a good thing. Nobody is pulling a gun on his rival and I believe there will be no bloodshed. Both parties are actually well-educated gentlemen. Beef is part of the rap game and nutritionists will also tell you how proteinous that can be especially in a country like Nigeria where people don’t eat a balanced diet.

Hip Hop in Nigeria is dead. It's like a forbidden genre of music right now. Ace producer Don Jazzy some years back converted his rappers like Ikechukwu, Dr Sid and D'Prince to singers because he believed it was difficult to market rap music in Nigeria. Doing dancehalls or what we call 'commercial' in our local parlance rakes in the money faster. Rapper Eedris Abdulkareem made money and became famous by apparently 'speaking in tongues' on songs and Kennis Music projected him as the best thing since sliced bread. At that point, Ruggedman did the real thing and stayed local to the doctrines of the game but failed. He spiced up his rap with a total switch from Queens English to Pidgin and then went after Eedris. He exposed his weaknesses and stole his shine. Modenine also made attempts to dethrone Ruggedman. Ruggedman was obviously inferior to Modenine lyrically so the former shifted to pop music a little bit to focus on the money. While Ruggedman enjoyed his windfall, Modenine also earned a few bucks from his sweat. Overdose, Terry Tha Rapman, Pherowshuz and iLLBliss were other players in the Hip Hop world with strong ties to Modenine.

The Hip Hop game was progressive as the casuals and hardcore rap fans knew which music artistes they had to listen to for maximum satisfaction. When M.I arrived at the music scene and dropped his debut album ‘Talk About It’ in the year 2008, he was all over the place. He corrected the lapses of Ruggedman and rapped with lines that were easily relatable. With the advent of M.I, thousands of Nigerian young ladies who never fancied Hip Hop loved his rhymes and flows that they became fans of rap music.

It would be recalled that several Nigerians felt Modenine's lines were too deep and abstract, people had to literally employ lecturers in literature to decipher them. M.I apparently had no rival; he was like a god. The late Da Grin later came on board in 2010 after being underground for a long while to tell the Nigerian story in the indigenous Yoruba language. Nobody really thought that style would work but it did. Well, he was not the pioneer of that style considering Lord of Ajasa too who was there before him. Kelly Hansome, Iceberg Slim, A-Q and other rappers wanted M.I's spot. These notable figures attacked him openly and he responded. Yes, it made the Hip Hop game so fun and brought out the best of most guys. I still listen to 'Somebody Wants To Die', Nobody Test Me, Beef by M.I and others till date. Kelly gave M.I a run for his money. It was stunning that Kelly Hansome, a natural singer could take on a rapper and give him a bloody nose. M.I's dominance birthed several rappers like Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Loose Kaynon, Yung6ix and other dopeheads who I can't mention due to limitations of time and space. Vector also appeared on the music scene while the show was all about the ‘short black boy from J-Town’.

Olamide later replaced Da Grin but the dude wasn't interested in being the king of rap, he just wanted to make money. He delved into singing and made an instant impact. Meanwhile, M.I also toned down his rap in his second album to make it more marketable. He was focusing on money, a step down from his 'Illegal Music mixtapes' and his first album. As Olamide soared in success, rap music was the sacrificial lamb; that genre of music was severely polluted. Olamide was interested in catchy sounds and rhythm laced with lyrical emptiness. The era of hard drugs and alcohol epidemic in Nigeria in which people don't realize what they listen to but dance helped the career of Olamide. Even Skales took to his heels and embraced singing and he got the instant results with a better life. M.I faded away gradually, even Vector and others who had better music skills couldn't hold it down for Hip Hop. M.I made a comeback track in 2017 titled; ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives’ trying to diss all Nigerian rappers for failing to dethrone him but nobody took the bait. He was wearing a crown nobody seemed to need. Other rappers were busy trying to deal with the hard economic conditions inflicted by the new government of President Muhammadu Buhari. Only a man that has eaten will have the energy to rap in the studios. It took Cassper Nyovest of South Africa to remind Nigerians that we were now actually lagging behind in Hip Hop as he alluded to the view of M.I on the dire state of Hip Hop in Nigeria.

So, M.I dropped a few songs that didn't do quite well and the diminutive rapper went on performing old songs from his reigning days to keep body and soul together. He gave the audience the nostalgic feelings and it worked for him but he wasn't on high demand in the entertainment industry.
The long-term term beef between M.I and Vector has had a positive effect which is that it has given M.I the attention he needed to reaffirm his status as the king of rap in Africa and also revive rap music in Nigeria. He dropped his diss song titled 'The Viper' and it started trending on social media for hours. That kind of unprecedented publicity is what politicians even fail to get after paying millions of naira. He got it on a platter of gold!

Vector's other attacks on him have also gained serious traction online. I feel this is a good thing; life and providence have handed both parties second chances. M.I and Vector are off the market but they have much quality to offer the Nigerian music industry. They finally have the ears of the core rap fans and the casuals. It's time for them to feed out of it and put Nigeria on the rap map again.

Both responses have come with limited flavours and lyrical strengths. It appears Vector forced some of his rap lines to make sense. They are not coming naturally. From the look of things, Vector might be releasing his songs with a manual to help us understand them. This wasn't far from the reason why he dropped the lyrics of his song in the form of a video explaining them on M.I's birthday. I would have loved to break them down but this article might become a textbook. M.I has also confirmed my fears that he is far-spent as he left rap to focus on what Nigerian bloggers do; tell bland and unfounded stories rather than show his lyrical strengths, depth and rap skills we know his brand for. M.I also borrowed some ideas from Nollywood by dramatizing the whole thing with sounds, effects and religious practices. He needs to understand the basis of the beef. it's more about competition, not real jealousy or hatred; rap is a game of superiority. Every rapper believes he is the best just like we have in boxing too. Even the historic animosity between legendary boxers Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier later died when they both left the sporting scene. This is not personal, it's about the game and the love and language of it. Let them make history as they are at the twilight of their careers already. A last bold statement will make a difference and help inspire the younger generation.

Vector is jeering up to bomb M.I again and I hope we can see an improved version of him. I have a feeling M.I might not respond again. He has nothing to lose but much to gain. My advice is that both parties should focus more on metaphors, wordplays and other parts of lyricism as against attacking their personal lives. Let's enjoy this while they get back into the game and make final statements.

As for who is winning, the game is winning. We have all missed interesting beef in Nigeria. It has a way of bringing excitements among fans, bringing the best out of the parties involved and also boosting their careers.

PoliticsThe Only Huge Mistake Omoyele Sowore Made by uche87(op):
When President Muhammadu Buhari visited the Chatham House, London in February 2015 in the build-up of his presidential election campaign, he apologized to the learned audience for the human right abuses that took place under his watch as a military ruler within 1983-1985 with seeming utmost sincerity.

Regretting the shortcomings during the military era under his watch and his readiness to transform the country through a democratic government, Buhari said; "Permit me to close this discussion on a personal note. I have heard and read references to me as a former dictator in many respected British newspapers including the well regarded Economist. Let me say without sounding defensive that dictatorship goes with military rule, though some might be less dictatorial than others. I take responsibility for whatever happened under my watch."

”I cannot change the past. But I can change the present and the future. So before you is a former military ruler and a converted democrat who is ready to operate under democratic norms and is subjecting himself to the rigours of democratic elections for the fourth time. ”

Buhari was only playing politics and his audience must have known this. They are used to hearing flowery speeches read by politicians who mostly have no knowledge of the paper in front of them. A speechwriter collaborates with the politician's media team to produce it and he reads it as his heartfelt thoughts. A leopard never changes its spots. Buhari is an atypical politician with an inexplicable support base just like the U.S President Donald Trump; both parties get away with anything they do no matter how noisome. As a result of Buhari's military background, he knows that playing by the rules in politics might slow him down. He has always complained about the rule of law and following due process on multiple occasions. He believes in ruling by decrees, mob action, and jungle justice mentality.

In Political Science, there is a concept we call the 'Game Theory' which entails two players trying to beat each other with diverse strategies like Chess. Buhari keeps bringing the old tactics to the table and the majority of Nigerians don't mind. In retrospect, those anti-democratic moves have proven to be the most effective ways of dealing with dissenting voices and the perceived enemies of the state. These 'victimized' political actors don't also play by the rules of the game; come to think of it, a public office holder guilty of corruption has broken the rules but he doesn't mind. He will further break more by exploiting the various lacunas in the judiciary to escape justice. He walks into the court and offers the judge his share of the loot after hiring the best lawyer in town and the case dies. He pays some protesters to parade the streets on his behalf with placards labelling him a victim, and then he gives the media practitioners their share to report the development favourably like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly did in Israel. By the time you know it, the accused is clean again. Buhari has seen it all in his 76 years in this world and he has devised measures to play his game in an unorthodox style.

Omoyele Sowore - the founder of Sahara Reporters who must have lost touch with reality underrated Buhari and that was a costly mistake. Buhari knows the courts can't jail Sowore for calling for a revolution but he will play his odd cards to break and slow him down.

Nigerians have been screaming the term 'democracy' into the unhealthy ears of Buhari to make him realize that he might be turning into a dictator. I believe those advocates of democracy haven't been following the global trends of politics. Buhari is not alone in the business of ruling with dirty iron hands; in fact, its the new norm among world leaders. Democracy is dying gradually and the electorate across the world wish for better forms of governance to create better lives for them. Trust in government has continued to be a big issue even in developed countries. Let's start from Africa, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has been ticking the right boxes in terms of the economy and infrastructural development considering where the country is coming from, a brutal genocide. Rwanda is fast becoming the Singapore of Africa and Kagame has been likened to Lee Kuan Yew for his cerebral nature but there are several buts about Kagame. His human rights records are very low. He harasses dissenters, under him, a controversial law jailing anyone who insults the president for five and seven years was made and also another banning publication of political cartoons although later repealed.

Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has been in power for over thirty years. He has a long history of treating dissenting voices like terrorists. His victims have been the media, protesters and popularly Kizza Besigye ( political opponent) and recently Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine. Eritrea has become the North Korea of Africa, nothing goes in or comes out of the country. Only God sees what happens there. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt has arrested and detained an Al Jazeera journalist for over 1,000 days without trial. Protesters and other opposing voices have either gone into hiding or locked up under him. In fact, in the last election in the North African country, he technically contested against himself and won by a landslide.

Additionally, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson prorogued the parliament to support his plan for a no-deal Brexit in the European Union. President Donald Trump allegedly dug dirt on Hillary Clinton by colluding with Russia in 2016. He is giving his challenger Joe Bidden the same treatment by mounting pressure on Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden's son over his business dealings in the country. According to the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Trump worked actively to derail judicial processes. President Vladimir Putin of Russia owns the press and has zero tolerance of opposition. His critic Alexei Navalny has been in and out of prison cells for speaking against the former KGB member. President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines shockingly supports extrajudicial killings. India's Narendra Modi has spoken in ungoverned ways that have terrified his country's minority groups and eroded its secular culture. Leaders like Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan in Turkey and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary have managed to change the constitution to assist in one party or one-man rule. This is a never- ending-list of world leaders bending the rules of the game of politics.

According to Fareed Zakaria of CNN, the world appears to be experiencing a 'democratic recession'. Data gathered by scholars have shown that the enthusiasm for autocrats has grown. Between 1995 and 2014, there were large increases in the share of people who would like to see a strong leader who doesn't have to bother with parliament and elections. That sentiment has grown by nearly 10 points in the US, almost 20 points in Spain and South Korea and about 25 points in Russia and South Africa.

We are living in times of change and people feel insecure and anxious. They don't believe existing institutions, elites and established ideologies are serving them well. Of 27 democratic countries survey by the Pew Research Centre, a majority in 21 countries believe they see little of change regardless of who wins an election. So people are open to supporting populist leaders who play on their fears, seizes on scapegoats and promise to take decisive actions on their behalf. Tribal politics have also added to the problem. Tribalism is the enemy of institutions, norms and the rule of law, Fareed Zakaria opined.

Buhari has flouted about seven court orders so far and I see him doing more with no consequences. The main opposition party, PDP can cry foul till tomorrow in futility. The party paved way for Buhari when it's members viciously raped the national treasury at regular intervals and depleted public trust. Sowore's recent act of showmanship at the courtroom will not help matters; Buhari hates to feel he is in danger, it makes him act irrationally. When Nnamdi Kanu refused to hearken to the voice of reason, the Nigerian military invaded his father's house. Sowore will soon regain his freedom with a better experience of how Buhari operates. This will serve as an eye-opener in boosting his political maturity and future.

There is no ideal model of democracy in the world today, democracy is a mere journey and not a destination. With the level of hardship in Nigeria presently, the poor masses will not mind sacrificing their fundamental human rights for better economic opportunities like we have in China..

TravelCanadian Government To Stop Mass Immigration Of Nigerians? by uche87(op): 3:36pm On Sep 30, 2019
The government of Canada is likely to make significant adjustments to the mass immigration of Nigerians and nationals of other countries of the world to her country via the popular Express Entry, Provincial Nominee and refugee settlement programs.

The current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who favours mass migration with a target of an additional one million immigrants in the next three years is heading to the polls on the 21st of October, 2019. Should he fail to secure another term in office, mass immigration via both streams including the refugee settlement program might be either stopped or highly restricted by the candidates of the other political parties who have more conservative approaches towards mass migration to Canada.

Canada - a bilingual country in North America presently has 5 major political parties namely the Liberal Party that currently forms the government, the Conservative Party who are the official opposition, the New Democratic Party, the People's Party Of Canada, and the Green Party of Canada.
Immigration just like in the United States of America has become a hot topic among indigenous Canadians who feel foreigners are gradually taking over their country and politicians jostling for the number position in the country have continued to latch onto it with varying immigration policies to boost popularity.

The issue of mass immigration continues to fuel negative sentiments amongst the natives. The election day which is about three weeks away will determine if the immigration will stop, reduce or be increased. According to local policy analysts, the current immigration policy is likely to be maintained if Trudeau wins.

The New Democratic Party remains indifferent about immigration as it focuses on the reduction in the rising cost of living in Canada. This can't be said of the conservatives who are focusing on the loopholes in the present immigration system with reference to the number of asylum claimants coming into Canada.

In the same vein, the leader of the People's Party of Canada, Maxime Bernier has been very vocal about the immigration level, multiculturalism, and diversity. In fact, his campaign billboards with the inscription "Say No To Mass Immigration" have been erected across highways in Canada by a third party. Bernier wants a maximum of 150,000 into Canada in a year.

"We want fewer immigrants, a maximum of 150,000 a year and you know we are not for mass immigration. For me, mass immigration is 350,000 in a year. If you look at it after two years, that will be a million new Canadians and the equivalent of the population of Nova Scotia (a province in Canada)" he recently said at the sidelines of a campaign rally.

It should be noted that asylum claims in Canada have witnessed an unprecedented increase since 2017 thereby causing worries for the country. People have been regularly crossing the borders to claim asylum.
Ralph Goodale, the Public Safety Minister expressed the commitment of the government towards plugging the loopholes exploited by the asylum claimants.

"Let me make the point emphatically, the coming across the border in a way that tries to circumvent the law or defy proper procedure is no free ticket to Canada. Seeking asylum is not a shortcut to get around normal immigration rules and procedures. There must be legitimate reasons why asylum is necessary or it will not be granted" Mr Goodale said.

It is worthy of note that Nigeria and other countries of the world have benefitted immensely from the challenges of ageing and population implosion faced by Canada. This necessitated the encouragement of the mass immigration policy to help grow the local economy. Immigrants are given Permanent Residency status on arrival to Canada and are eligible to apply for citizenship after spending 1,095 days in the country.

Christianity EtcFatoyinbo Series: Sex In The Name Of God by uche87(op): 11:57am On Sep 30, 2019
Let's get this straight, the church is no longer safe for anybody, not even the sinners seeking redemption. There is a strong possibility that they might even get hardened in the church just like the offenders in Nigerian detention facilities. The church which is supposed to provide hope and solace to the people has turned into the home of actors-cum-motivational speakers wielding the Holy Bible to enhance egocentrism.

Most churches don't even harp on soul-winning anymore, it's now about raising money to fund one project or the other. Evangelism is now about stealing the members of other churches. Once you are confident, eloquent, and can read, all you need to do is get some decent suits and mount the pulpit to share what you understand about the Holy Bible. The book is very subjective so any decent interpretation goes!

Don't preach too much about holiness, people find keeping the 10 commandments unrealistic and might get uncomfortable and bored when the criticisms are too much. Nobody wants to hear what awaits them in heaven or hell if they die, rather they want to enjoy their years on earth. Don't tell them Jesus Christ is coming soon because nobody is really waiting for that anymore. Focus on the prosperity gospel which preaches that a penniless man today might be richer than Jeff Bezos in less than 24hrs if God wants it or if he sows a good 'seed'. You can match this with some fake prophecies to make the ministry grow faster. Nigerians love unmerited favour and will go to any length to a partaker of 'His grace'.

I have tried as much as possible to avoid writing or publicly commenting on the Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo and Busola Dakolo saga but the drama has refused to go away. I watched the latest special report anchored by ace journalist, Adesuwa Onyenokwe which is certainly giving credence to the allegations of rape made by Busola Dakolo against the senior pastor of COZA. I had to download the almost 1-hour long video named "The Pulpit and the People - Rev Ost & Pst. Busola", after watching it on YouTube for the purpose of several replays in order to understand every allegation made against the Christian cleric. It is very difficult to believe Pastor Abiodun isn't culpable, but I will try as much as possible not to make any accusations because the issue is in the court of law.

Let's be truthful with ourselves, sexual scandals are not new in Christendom, they happen every day around us but the church covers them up. All 34 of Chile's Roman Catholic bishops offered their resignations in May 2018 over a child sexual abuse scandal, Father Paul Moore, 82, who is a Catholic Priest in Scotland was jailed for nine years for sexually abusing three children and a trainee priest. Moore previously admitted he had an attraction to young boys and had a desire to abuse minors. The statistics of cases of sexual abuse in Pennsylvania, US might force you to dump Christianity. In August, 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court released a sweeping grand jury report on sex abuse in the Catholic Church listing hundreds of accused clergy and detailing 70 years of misconduct and church response across the state. About 1,000 children were abused sexually and the cases were covered up by the church leaders. Every now and then, you read stories of pastors either extorting or raping or impregnating vulnerable church members in the newspapers, social media or blogs, and we live with it like it's a norm.

Back home, one Pastor Timothy Omotoso of the Jesus Dominion International in South Africa allegedly abused over 30 young women and girls. He was caught by the police at the Port Elizabeth Airport restroom while he was trying to elope to avoid justice. This is a man that is so influential that he runs churches in different areas in South Africa such as Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and in the United Kingdom. Additionally, busty actor Cossy Ojiakor keeps insisting that she did 'good business' with Apostle Johnson Suleman who was also accused of having an affair with one Stephanie Otobo. Only Bishop Francis Wale Oke was bold enough to come out clean about having an affair with his secretary many years back. Pastors are scared of removing the facade of 'perfection' placed on them, so they fail to admit their wrongdoings and seek help for the selfish purpose of staying in business.

I will never blame you if you don't fully buy the story of Busola Dakolo. Her account has a lot of loopholes that we might find less believable but it's normal about human beings. Rape is hard to prove especially when it's not recent with evidence destroyed; even the almighty FBI cleared the Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Brett Kavanaugh when it was obvious something was amiss.

Victims of sexual abuse hardly come clean completely. They tell the stories in a way that fully absolves them of all faults and later leaves gaps in it. For youths exercising their waists in the name of bachelorhood, you must have come across women that would subtly encourage you to sleep with them without protection and then blame you when pregnancy comes knocking like you jinxed them during sex. Another example is that only a handful of women would totally admit they made mistakes in their previous romantic relationships, the man is always the devil while the women are the white angels devoid of blemish. What I'm driving at is that women by nature are more liable to play the victim card, it's their natural behavioural pattern. Now, on the basis of this premise, let's do a brief overview of the story of Busola.

Personally, I don't believe she was actually raped by Pastor Abiodun. What I see is a case of a naive teenager/mentee being manipulated by her idol or mentor. Women by nature love God, they easily get too religious and see pastors like idols. Most women who disrespect their husbands bow down and lick the feet of pastors who might be far below the social status of their spouses. Whenever they go, they keep reiterating the views of their spiritual leaders and what you hear regularly is 'my pastor said', 'according to my pastor', 'my father in the Lord', 'Papa' and others' They forget the fact that these figures they worship like demigods also have demons they battle. Some of these pastors have viable waists that could impregnate women in an entire village and also half of the ones in the nearest city. The women end up positioning themselves for attacks by being off guard. There is a level at which you will adore someone that whenever they make a demand from you, you will find it difficult to decline their request no matter how costly. This is the psychological state of female fans that collapse when they see their favourite celebrities. Some even go as far as throwing underwear at them or offering sex immediately. Singer Innocent '2Baba' Idibia would have handled this sub-topic better than me.
These vulnerable women one day get shocked when the shepherd becomes the wolf but most times, it's already too late for them to retrace their steps. All they do is nurse the pains of the abuse and die in silence in order to avoid stigma or public condemnation. Pastor Abiodun is a handsome, intelligent, and a stylish smooth talker; match these attributes with a pastoral persona and you will realize no woman is entirely safe around him. This is like the case of a football striker who can use both legs and also the head to score goals like Cristiano Ronaldo; any inexperienced defender pitched against him is in hot Egusi soup!

A 16-year old Busola against a Pastor Abiodun would be tantamount to assigning ill-trained Peace Corps operatives against the Boko Haram terrorists. The outcome might be a replay of the disastrous atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. This is what I feel about the fate of Busola. One doesn't expect her to come out painting the truest picture of what played out. She must tell the story from a position that gives her an advantage. It's a natural phenomenon but does that absolve Pastor Abiodun of any wrongdoing? My answer is NO!
Sex with such an underage girl is not only morally wrong, but it's a grave sin against God and it should never be tolerated in the Christendom in order to maintain the sanctity of the temple of God and retain public trust. As Pastor Abiodun's former spiritual leader - Busola Olotu, Pastor DODIM Ilorin, Kwara State said, he is not the only successful and popular pastor in Nigeria. Why are several women making allegations against him? At first, it was Ese Walter in 2013, other faceless ladies made similar allegations but couldn't boldly come out due to stigmatization; Busola followed in 2019, another lady also joined and told her story to online news platform, YNaija with a concealed identity. Chude Jideonwo of Ynaija claims to have other women corroborating the revelations of Busola. Pastor Abiodun's former spiritual mother also claims to know other ladies who have also been under his 'anointing' but can't come out due to fear of opprobrium. Adesuwa also added that in the course of reportorial, she also came across one married woman who was allegedly raped by the pastor even while being pregnant.

This is getting close to the saga of the Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, R. Kelly, and Bill Cosby. It will be very myopic to term these allegations as an attack on the church. We shouldn't treat religious issues like political ones to prevent eventual total system collapse.

The bad news is that the truth will never surface. Pastor Abiodun is back on the pulpit and with the different narratives out there, people don't know what to believe. The Nigerian judiciary hardly convicts the rich and influential at least at the rate of common criminals, they easily manipulate the weak structures of the system and go scot-free or get a slap on the wrist.

The weakness of the church system has been exposed once more. There is no sanctioning body to maintain sanity and hold churches accountable for misdeeds; the likes of the Christian Association of Nigeria and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria can only sit down and watch like spectators. Busola and other women alleged to have been abused might be forced to wait till we get to heaven before they get justice. Before that day comes, other pastors can have a field day continuing with the business of enjoying the best of women and making easy money from their followers.

PoliticsHow Buhari Disgraced Nigeria At The UN (video) by uche87(op): 5:12pm On Sep 25, 2019
President Buhari's attendance of the United Nations General Assembly summit has been marred with yet another controversy.
A video is currently trending on Twitter shows President Muhammadu Buhari giving an entirely different answer to a question bothering on Nigerian youths.

In the video shared by one of the aides to the president on New media, Bashir Ahmed, the President was asked by the anchor; what the pathway for resilient future looks like considering the fact that Nigeria has a young population.

"President Buhari, Nigeria has a very young population, perhaps you might highlight a pathway for what resilient future looks like" the female interviewer asked Buhari who was sitting with other leaders.

The President, who was obviously reading from a prepared speech gave an answer relating to climate change. The video has been deleted by his aides as some sort of damage control.

In 2016, Buhari had issues with his ear and had to be flown to the United Kingdom for treatment. His media aides are struggling to find an explanation for the latest gaffe by the 76-year old. The awkward video has sparked conversations on Twitter with netizens likening Buhari to the late Zimabwean leader, Robert Mugabe who also did a similar act by reacting the wrong speech publicly.

Politics2023 Presidency: Should We Tell Tinubu The Gospel Truth? by uche87(op): 1:46pm On Sep 25, 2019
When President Donald Trump began his foray into politics in 1999, he organized a press conference and the turnout was poor. There were several empty seats that could slur the words of a speaker who holds himself in high esteem. The billionaire went on to announce a rally which was expected to attract about 20,000 people. Trump was headlining the event alongside a popular American motivational speaker, Tony Robbins. Trump met the target but many of the attendees didn't come to listen to him, it was the motivational speaker who was the second speaker that stole the show. From that moment, Trump understood that the American voters were not interested in listening to politicians. From that day, he was convinced he stood a chance in the presidential race; it was just a matter of time. He went on to premiere his hit reality show named 'The Apprentice' which projected him as a successful, decisive, goal-getter which he played on TV. This identification and other controversies played a big factor in his ascendancy as president in 2016.

Ukraine also removed a sitting president this year to replace him with a comedian and actor, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky despite his lack of experience in politics and public administration. Sebastian Kurz of Austria, Emmanuel Macron of France, Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand, and Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia have also profited from the desire of the people to see new faces in politics rather than the usual figures with grey hairs, wrinkled faces and tired legs.

This factor is gradually coming into play in Nigeria too; people are wary of the core politicians who have amassed huge fortunes out of their careers spanning over decades and are still trying to be relevant despite being far-spent. APC perceived the public disposition towards core politicians and made interesting adjustments. President Muhammadu Buhari whose major baggage was alleged dictatorship as a military ruler between 1983 and 1985 was painted as a dirt poor cattle-rearer who couldn't afford the party's nomination and interest forms. He claimed to have obtained a loan from the bank to make necessary purchases. The party also picked another clean technocrat as his running-mate in the person of Professor Yemi Osinbajo. In fact, they went for a Christian cleric from one of the biggest religious ministries in Nigeria, The Redeemed Christian Church of God which has over 15 million members in the country. The decision was well-measured and calculated. With due respect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is significantly different from these two figures in terms of reputation.

In a democratic process, one of the toughest the challenges a politician faces is public trust and believe me, this is a very arduous job for any media team or PR firm to achieve for politicians. Even when you have the best political structure, you might still fall short on election day. Nobody will drink from a tank of water if rumour emerges that a drop of the Sniper insecticide was mixed with it by domestic staff. You simply don't want to take chances even when your chances of survival are high. This was a problem a former Vice President and presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar had to deal with. In spite of having the war chest to fund any sort of campaign strategy, his political influence, beautiful manifesto, and perceived frustration of the people with President Muhammadu Buhari, his main opponent, he still lost. Well, the loss is still being debated in court but let's work with the official results by the INEC.

The Lagos State godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is rumoured to be interested in the number position in Nigeria shares the same fate with Atiku as per reputation. There is always a 'but' when his praises are being sung by his benefactors. People murmur about it and then you hear, 'Nobody is perfect, are you a saint? Politics is like that' and the talk ends but the doubt persists especially for people without personal interests. Most of the die-hard supporters of Tinubu today are majorly those who have benefited directly or indirectly from him.
Another Achilles Heels of Tinubu could be better explained in terms of football. Spanish giant, Barcelona could nail any team at Camp Nou in the UEFA Champions League but their away matches could be pathetic and ridden with lacklustre performances like the infamous experiences at Roma and Liverpool. Tinubu is a master of Lagos politics. At his present form, he could make a dead man the governor of Lagos State and intellectuals will celebrate him but outside Lagos, he struggles with inconsistencies. He was schemed out of the Kogi gubernatorial race in 2015, his preferred candidate lost to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in Ondo in 2016, the Osun governorship result obviously came with external influence and underhand tactics, his anointed candidate in the 2019 Oyo gubernatorial race, Adebayo Adelabu crumbled like a pack of cards. Tinubu also struggled when he chaired the reconciliatory committee set up by Buhari to resolve the differences of the party members. In fairness to the stupendously rich politician, he got the desired result in Ogun State in the governorship race this year even against the will of the then sitting governor, Ibikunle Amosun. What this is telling you is that Tinubu doesn't even have a firm grip over the south-western part of Nigeria where he hails from.

The story of the fall of former governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode as allegedly orchestrated by Tinubu has sent the wrong messages to the general public. It was a pyrrhic victory! Ambode's downfall is yet to be concluded. The former GOAT-turned-scapegoat is presently at the noose and dagger of the anti-graft body - EFCC and the Lagos State House of Assembly investigating him for alleged corruption. He has been denied a seat in Buhari's cabinet and with the way things are going, his traducers might so taint his image that he will be appearing in public spaces in disguise out of shame. Tinubu's show of influence despite pleas from influential party individuals might also be a lesson to Buhari and his men who may be scared to help him become president. They might suffer a similar fate with Ambode if they fall-out in the nearest future. Politics is not built around love and affection anywhere in the world. Let's be sincere, a cerebral person like Tinubu will never love a 'certificateless' leader like Buhari, it's all about personal interests and ambition. Even the general public is scared of what Tinubu could do with power and authority when offended. It's Ambode today, it could be them tomorrow.

Another factor that will work against Tinubu is his firm belief in zoning the presidency ahead of the 2023 presidential election. I don't know the level of assurance Tinubu has but the fact is that the South-western part of Nigeria has been promised the seat likewise the South-east and this was thrown like a bait to secure the support of the region during the last presidential election. Politicians like Rochas Okorocha, and Orji Uzor Kalu will be itching for such an opportunity to realize their biggest political dreams. While Tinubu is also hoping, Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State is warming up for the presidential race as a sign that any unwritten agreement of power-sharing is a ruse and will not be honoured. If the rumours that Tinubu is one of the brains behind the present travails of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for being a stumbling block to his presidential ambition are true, then he should be ready to weed out more people from his team as they remove their masks. There are more enemies to be unveiled in the nearest future.
The APC might also find it disadvantageous to field a Yoruba man as a presidential candidate who will go up against someone in the PDP that will likely be from the North. Matching Tinubu with a running-mate from the North might have so real impact. The Vice President's position in Nigeria is almost ceremonial and the electorate know this. The North has got the numbers, we can't deny the political power at their disposal and I doubt if they would follow Tinubu considering how divided Nigeria is today. I don't see a replay of the contest between Moshood Abiola and Bashir Tofa in 1993 where the voting patterns were devoid of tribal, religious and regional undertones.

On these premises, Tinubu might be building his castle in the air if he believes he could be president in 2023. But wait a minute, a political upset in Nigeria could be interesting. As a fan of boxing, I never believed Mexican heavyweight boxer, Andy Ruiz could beat Anthony Joshua let alone drop him 4 times but it happened. Although Nigerian politics mostly leaves we Political Scientists with no surprises except the casuals, let's allow things play out for the purpose of history. Tinubu has nothing to lose as long as his private firm, Alpha Beta keeps raking in money for him through the management of the Lagos State Internally Generated Funds.

TV/MoviesBbnaija: Tboss, Ceec And Tacha As Serious Societal Problems by uche87(op): 11:30am On Sep 18, 2019
Aside from the winner of the different seasons of the Big Brother Naija reality show, one contentious figure whose image is built around a pool of dissension and discordance springs up. This person's role is likened to the proverbial mentally-deranged woman dancing at the market place. Everybody enjoys the sight of the exhibition of shame except the relatives of the person.

The prodigal figure suddenly becomes popular and gathers so many fans not because he or she is loved or doing some things right but because there is a need to instil some madness in the reality show for the purpose of entertaining the audience. This sort of craze exhibited by the person is tagged the needed 'spice'. This person in question becomes an irritant who is to a large extent unwanted and disliked by the other housemates. For this reason, the person is regularly put up for the weekly eviction but the fans who are enjoying the lunacy displayed by the individual dole out cash to support the person with votes to keep him or her in the house.

In simple terms, they draw so much entertainment from the flagrant bad behaviours of the person and other misdeeds which might reek of poor upbringing, undying bad habits, lack of courtesy, pride and other oddities one should be ashamed of in saner climes. This is a winning strategy which the show has been projecting since 2017 thereby making celebrities out of uncouth and unrefined individuals of questionable characters. In 2017, the maiden user of this strategy was Romania returnee, Tokunbo Idowu, 35, self-styled Tboss. She was a very caustic figure who went hard on individuals who crossed her path, she was very defensive, outrightly boastful and she promoted the culture of being a 'king' over men. At some point, she boasted that she was going to expend the N25 million prize money of the show in just one week and that men with private jets flock around her. She was soon branded a 'strong woman' and a feminist by individuals who have a jaundiced view of feminism. Her beauty as well as free will to show off her boobs and bum also endeared her to some perverts who must have pictured her in their heads while engaging in the act of masturbation.

Tboss, later on, became more popular when a fellow housemate, Kemen was accused of groping her while they shared a bed together in the middle of the night. She went on to become a finalist at the end of the show. Several business brands rushed to grab their share of the attention she was getting from the general public. Tboss would later on in 2019 have a child without a father. As Tboss' antics were televised and supported by her fans on social media, a younger generation was also watching and some of them who wanted to participate in the subsequent edition of the show adopted her style deemed the winning strategy or game plan. One a normal day, every housemate is expected to have a game plan that will enable him or she outlast the other 19 or more competitors gunning for the prize money that runs into millions of naira.

In the year 2018 when another season of the reality show started, a younger lady named Cynthia Nwadiora, 26, aka CeeC copied Tboss' style and even made it worse with her 'rare talent' of deep bitterness. She picked a sparring partner in a lopsided show and made a fool of him. The partner, Tobi Bakre who was hopelessly in love with CeeC was so mesmerized that there were frequent incidents of outrage by the audience who took to social media to express their grievances. From Tobi, CeeC spread her tentacles across the house and started clashing with other housemates. Just like Tboss, she once claimed that some of the housemates are privileged to share the same roof with her. As expected, the audience who are like fans of combat games cheering at the sight of blood was excited about the drama she brought to the house and they laboured to keep her in the show till the final day. She even went close to winning the reality show. When the show ended, CeeC like Tboss was swarmed by brands with endorsements. They just wanted a bit of the attention she was getting. It was a move for publicity and subsequently profit. It's a trend in Nigeria; Instagram comedienne Etinosa Idemudia started getting endorsement deals and more movie roles after she stripped naked during a live video session on Instagram. These mushroom companies associated with her just liked the fact that she was in the news, the reason means nothing to them.

As CeeC gathered over a million followers on Instagram in a matter of months, another younger lady was also watching her and hoping to be like her and this person is Tacha. I am sure Tacha must have boasted to herself of her ability to behave worse than the sullen CeeC in the bid to be rewarded for it. The self-acclaimed Port Harcourt First Daughter made it to the current season 4 of the reality show of the year 2019 and she has been stinging anybody that comes her way. Men like Seyi and Mike have been verbally battered severally by Tacha. She even extended her rudeness to the organizers of the show. Something her predecessors in the business of bad behaviours were scared to attempt. In fact, Tacha is so dramatic that she has been tagged the 'real pepper' of the show. Tacha who carries herself as a celebrity expressed similar views with CeeC by claiming her colleagues in the house should cherish the opportunity of being around her. She also bragged that she has achieved a lot at the age of 23 even more than what Seyi, the grandson of late elder statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo has achieved at 30. One can perceive a similar script being acted out by the controversial trio.

Tacha's madness is so loved that she has been getting the highest votes during eviction sessions. The dancer who garnered over 200,000 followers from practising all manners of obscenities on Instagram is so sure she is doing what the audience wants that she boasted from the inception of the show that she would win it. According to her, she has fans who vote with the last drop of their blood to keep her in the show. So far, she seems very right. Tacha, the ambassador of colourism has suddenly become one of the hottest entertainment topics on social media all for the wrong reasons.

Inasmuch as many believe the BBNaija show is a mere game one should read deep meanings into, the trio of Tboss, CeeC and Tacha are reflections of the stench and rot among the 21st century Nigerian females needlessly competing with men under the guise of feminism. These women have lost their African values as they compare themselves with their counterparts in the western world. They are women with an embarrassing sense of entitlement, importance and egotism. Most of them can't cook, clean or even maintain healthy relationships. They are bereft of intelligence and riddled with an acute inferiority complex. They are the ones that easily go under the knife to enlarge their boobs, hips and bums to boost their sex appeal. They never pay attention to what they have upstairs. They value having large followings on social media than real-life achievements. These people support Tboss, CeeC and Tacha because these individuals are reflections of them, so they relate with them easily. This is a far-reaching quandary in Nigerian society. Young men seeking for future partners will admit that finding sex is as easy as breathing in and out while finding a wife could be as hard as stopping the politicians from stealing public funds. We are sitting on a keg of gunpowder and as long as the reality show is allowed to strive, more figures like the trio will surface with stinking characters.

It will be worse if Tacha realizes her dream of winning the reality show and bagging N60 million in prizes. The wrong person is about to be positioned at the centre stage as a role model. Ace comedian Basketmouth was forced to admit that he would be depressed should Tacha win the show in a couple of weeks. As a father and adult, he knows what it means to have someone like Tacha as an influencer. We can only pray to God for a spiritual intervention!

PoliticsNnamdi Kanu: The Latest Clown In Town by uche87(op): 12:20pm On Sep 17, 2019
Let me start this article with a very short story about a personal experience. One day, I was at a bar at the Festac Town area of Lagos State in 2016 watching a football match when a potbellied full-figured man passionately unloading some empty bottles of alcohol started analyzing politics with his friends in a very distracting tone. His voice was so reverberating, and he reiterated his views with so much confidence. Gradually, he started to win over the attention of everybody including me. The latest way of winning or dominating arguments in such places is to shout on top of your voice and remain defiant even if you are not making sense. It works like magic.

"The solution to the problems of Nigeria is to gather all our leaders and set them on fire, burn them to ashes!" he echoed.

His friends whose eyes and brains must have been failing them gradually due to alcohol intake cheered him. As I walked home from the bar after the match that night, I thought about his extreme 'revolutionary solution' and disagreed fundamentally. For every corrupt politician that dies in Nigeria, there is a competent replacement amongst us, in fact, we have a clone or a replica. The Nigerian State is a reflection of its people. My usual prayer is that God should save Nigeria from Nigerians. A perfect example of such a cantankerous figure masquerading around as a freedom fighter, history maker and game-changer is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The South-easterners are very religious people; predominantly Christians and I believe they are special in the sight of God. Confirmation of my view is the failure of the secession cause of Nnamdi Kanu under the banner of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. If Biafra had worked, Nnamdi Kanu in the bid to reap the 'fruit of his labour' would have forced his way to the driver's seat and a fatal accident would have been the case. Biafra and South Sudan would have been competing for the best case study for why secession is never the solution to the challenges of a minority group in a country. I trust my colleagues in academia to jump on it and win awards with the research.

Nnamdi Kanu is a man of theatrics and he never fails to entertain. My problem is that his jokes are becoming too expensive and they have been taken too far. The world has seen 'good comedians' in politics. While some have failed, others have gone to achieve great things. The 41-year old president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky was a comedian and actor who brought his role in a movie to reality, beating a sitting president at the polls this year to gain power. He is presently reforming his country and commendably secured the release of some Ukrainian sailors detained by Russia. Others with clownish antics are President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and maybe President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines. The 51-year old Nnamdi Kanu who has secured himself with a British passport is far below the class of these world leaders. He seems to be reading the playbook of a former Iraqi diplomat and politician, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf nicknamed Comical Ali who came to worldwide prominence around the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He successfully did a 'Lai Mohammed-like job' while he was the Iraqi Information Minister under Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, acting as a spokesperson for the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party and Saddam's government.

Nnamdi Kanu is quite smart but I must say he isn't smart enough. He understands how fragmented the Nigerian society is due to identity crisis. He knows how much we all play the victim card; every Nigeria feels cheated and has a justification for every unscrupulous act. He also knows trust in government is considerably low due to corruption over the years. He understands that there is always an information gap coupled with a high level of illiteracy and ineffective educational system. The loopholes are well exploited by him and he has been feeding fat on them making money from his sympathizers. Using the power of the new media, Kanu smartly leveraged on the secrecy of the medical treatment of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017 at a London hospital to announce that he was dead. As his proclamation started to gather momentum, Buhari surfaced although looking like he just rose from the grave. Nnamdi Kanu must have felt disappointed but accepting defeat was not an option. He later went on to announce that Buhari was actually dead and the man that is the leader of Nigeria is one Jubril Al Sudani from Sudan, a body double in simple terms.

Kanu went on to make a series of YouTube videos buttressing his views and the blogs gave him the needed audience. The media system in Nigeria is so flawed and you have everybody competing for traffic and advertising revenue at all costs. Nobody really pays attention to credibility anymore and Kanu became an instant beneficiary. He pushed that Jubril narrative until it gained not only national attention but became a global issue.

The Vice President Atiku Abubakar must have been enjoying the hit on Buhari when Kanu attacked him and claimed he is a Cameroonian who isn't constitutionally qualified to be the president of Nigeria. That joke of a claim later ended in court with Buhari's lawyers alluding to that view probably as delay tactics.

Nnamdi Kanu urged IPOB supporters never to participate in the electoral process but in the last minute made a U-turn. Rumours have it that some political stakeholders cut a moneyed deal with him. According to analysts, Kanu's initial campaign for the boycott of elections accounted largely for the low turnout of voters during the 2018 presidential election in the South-east. He threatened most South-eastern governors with political annihilation but all that failed and his morale dropped. Kanu faded and started to feel irrelevant but later gained resurgence in a more dramatic and daring fashion.

His present charade is taking 'Biafra to the world'. He announced recently that he spoke to the European Union parliament in Brussels, Belgium and circulated his speech among mainstream media platforms. The Punch, Vanguard and The Guardian brazenly published it without due diligence. Till date, there is no video of Kanu meeting with the EU leaders, no photo-ops, no details of the event on the EU website and no information about the proceedings of such a gathering. In fact, the EU parliament never convened on the 10th of September which is the said date he allegedly delivered his speech. One wonders when the EU whose scope is largely economical with a focus on Europe has now developed an interest in local politics in Nigeria.

When questions were asked, his supporters photoshopped a picture of him purportedly delivering a speech at the EU parliament. The quack job that can't even convince a blind fool looked him he was making a rap song presentation on the floor of the parliament. Kanu's camp went on to further mock his audience by releasing a video of him delivering an informal speech outside the EU headquarters. Isn't that loopy?

The latest move is that he will be visiting the United Nations office in Geneva, Switzerland. As usual, the details are very unclear. The UN whose body language hasn't favoured reasonable secessionists like the Catalonians has maintained a deafening silence while Kanu's team continues the lap of honour over a phantom achievement that could be better imagined than actually realized. IPOB's reasons for the unclear details is to deter any form of sabotage by the Nigerian government. One might be forced to think Kanu might be going to pay a personal visit to his friend who works at the UN and is using that avenue to hoodwink the public.

My only concern is that some people actually buy these works of fiction and they might be contributing their hard-earned money to fund it as Kanu has admitted. Kanu is really blessed with such an easy life!

All of a sudden, Nnamdi Kanu's father rumoured to be missing and probably dead has returned quietly to his palace two years after it was invaded by the military. One wonders when all these lies will end. Will Kanu ever run out of lies? When will his supporters realize that he is just a 'political entrepreneur' exploiting the system ridden with despondency?

Kanu's jokes are actually not funny anymore. He needs to be stopped through proactive measures to protect his followers from him. With someone of Kanu's nature on the prowl, nobody will take Nigeria seriously. An intelligent and vigilant foreigner who encounters him will see more danger looming through his deceitful eyes.

CareerCustomer Service Agents Might Go Hungry In The Nearest Future by uche87(op): 12:57pm On Sep 16, 2019
I remember when letter-writing was in vogue; you scribble some words on a piece of paper as a message for a relative or friend living within the same country with you or abroad, package it in an envelope and get it delivered via a variety of means. We did that with excitement but today, social media has eroded this. You don't need to even go as far as loading an internet page to send him/her private messages, you can simply make a video call with the person via FaceTime, WhatsApp or other instant messaging applications. People can now save themselves the stress of visiting the market places and haggling over prices by buying goods and services online, it's simply called e-commerce.

The transportation system has also changed significantly too. You can stay in your house and order for a ride to anywhere within your locality and not panic about being cheated with prices or your safety as a credible value system has been put in place by companies providing that service. What about making financial transactions simply from your mobile phones without visiting the bank? The use of facial recognition to track people rather than the painstaking human surveillance beats one's imagination. The list goes on and one but there will be some costly sacrifices for these convenient changes.

The world is going through an evolution and it's happening faster than we thought especially with the advancement of information technology. Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Automation are gradually taking over duties performed by human beings and there is a projection that it might worsen in the coming years. Research has posited that robots could replace humans in a quarter of U.S jobs by 2030. Specifically, about 36 million jobs could be at high risk of automation, according to a report by the Brookings Institution.

The headline of this article might seem to be a screaming one considering how late development reaches Africa but we never say never. The world is a global village and we have become more connected than ever courtesy of the media and the internet.
The progress made by technologists in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Intelligence means that several jobs performed by human beings might be taken away especially the 'transitional ones' as Canadians will say. We have heard of robots working tirelessly in factories especially in the printing press, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), and others. Some have been successfully deployed in supermarkets and earlier this year, the Chinese state media, Xinhua News Agency did a test-run of robots working as news anchors. Xinhua has been experimenting with AI-driven journalism in recent years. One of its projects, Jia Jia, a Chinese-manufactured robot who resembles a young woman dressed in historical clothing, interviewed AI expert and Wired magazine co-founder Kevin Kelly at an event in Hefei in 2017.

The rationale behind this innovation is that machines are cheaper to use in the long-run and they are not prone to hassles associated with human beings like sicknesses, emotional breakdowns, fatigue, depression, human rights demands and other challenges that could militate against the smooth-running of any organization. This doesn't make the robots perfect, they do malfunction too and the errors could be very expensive.

One of the latest breakthroughs of AI technology in the labour sector is in the area of Customer Service. This has attained massive success in North America as reported by in August 2019 by Bloomberg and companies are adopting it rapidly due to its cost-effective nature. One of the brains behind this is a 23-year old interactive chatbot designer named Laura Morales. The bots solve simple queries on their own. Bots today are everywhere and the people who design their speech are in high demand. The job is like writing a dry screenplay with a choose your own adventure element for the many ways customers will respond. The has been designed to engage in text and voice chats with customers patronizing call centres. It has to deal with keywords pertaining to common questions and problems faced by customers using the product. The robot responds like a human being with a reasonable level of accuracy. Any complicated issue that needs human attention is escalated to a supervising customer care agent. According to a documentary, the application is very easy to configure and doesn't need too much expertise or programming knowledge. This bot works effectively round the clock unlike human beings and it has become attractive to business owners as it reduces operational costs. The ripple effect here is that the workload of customer care agents has significantly reduced and demand for customer care agents in the country might drop if the bots are perfected. Most experienced agents now employed only play supervisory roles over the bots. Several agents have been left without jobs.

"A bot is never late, a bot doesn't get sick or pregnant. Those are specific human situations you can't fight. Automation is about to take that out" Laura Morales said during an interview.

Now how does it affect Nigeria and Africa? Hundreds of programmers in Nigeria and Africa have been showing interest in AI and their innovations are gradually been introduced into the market. One of the leading commercial banks in Nigeria, the United Bank of Africa unveiled a program named 'Leo' to attend to customers online and it has been efficient to a large extent. As a result of its success on Facebook, Leo was integrated with Whatsapp. With Leo on WhatsApp, customers who are users and lovers of the app can now perform basic banking services including checking their balances on the go, transferring funds, paying bills, among other services.
More financial institutions are expected to follow suit in this feat of digital creativity and innovation just like how the idea of the Automated Teller Machines and automated security doors took over the financial sector and other areas.

A 23-year old lady and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Jackye Madu is championing a strong campaign for the wide adoption of the AI products in businesses with much concentration in the area of customer care and manufacturing. She promises the products will be very affordable and regular updates will be guaranteed to make it better. Her AI project known as Conversa has been launched in Nigeria but details about it have remained scanty for now. Her dream is to make Nigeria the hub of AI in Africa. Her newfound fame, beauty, intelligence and eloquence have made the idea an easy sell to small and medium scale enterprises in the country. Believe me, this might seem like a tall order at first glance but it's not. Once it's well tested and an influencer in the business industry successfully tests the product, others will follow in their thousands. It will become a trend and nobody will want to be left out.

The implication is that those in the Customer Service industry will take a heavy hit. The instant effect will be the issue of a higher supply of labour over demand thereby leading to a sharp drop in prices attached to their services. This will make the profession less attractive to people as a result of its unsustainable nature. Although there have been ethical concerns over the use of AI technology in a business but I believe the arguments will not stand the test of time. Most entrepreneurs want to save costs and maximize profits to sustain their enterprises.
A recent admission made by the giant firm, IBM that workers need to retrained is a confirmation of the progress made by AI so far which is a threat to human beings.

Artificial Intelligence is apparently ready to get to work. Over the next three years, as many as 120 million workers from the world's 12 largest economies may need to be retrained because of advances in artificial intelligence and intelligent automation, according to a study released last Friday by IBM's Institute for Business Value. The good news is that advancements in AI are expected to not only displace jobs but also create new ones.

Whether you are a grocer, factory worker, or journalist, all of our jobs will soon be reshaped by automation. Some will benefit from the new work that will emerge, and others will watch their jobs disappear with no clear path to another means of livelihood. Managing this transition will be the defining challenge for us in the decades ahead and we need to be ready for it.

My strong belief is that in the nearest future, AI will not only take over the Customer Service sector but as well as most jobs that do not require human contacts especially the menial/low-wage ones.

TravelMigration: The Long Road To Canada by uche87(op): 1:24pm On Aug 30, 2019
Ayokunle Oladimeji (not real name), 21, a best-graduating student of the Department of Economics at a popular tertiary institution located in the South-western part of Nigeria walks down the corridor of the Social Science Faculty wearing a long face on a very sunny day. He sweats profusely after sitting for hours in a crowded event hall that experienced embarrassing incidents of power outage. He had bagged several awards after finishing top of his class with a distinction. His grim expression on his day of glory wasn't far from his fear of his future despite his skills-set and excellent academic records.

"This certificate might not get me a good job. I have to relocate to Canada for greener pastures. I don't want to end up as a Yahoo Boy (internet fraudster) like most youths in my neighbourhood" he tells a news reporter during a parley.

It has become a norm for youths to return to the homes of their aged and possibly retired parents to feed on their meagre resources after higher education as a result of scarce economic opportunities in Nigeria.16 Nigerian youths died during stampedes while jostling for jobs in the Nigerian Immigration Service in 2014. The government agency had received 520,000 applications for just 4,556 job vacancies after paying a sum of N1,000 ($3) as application fee. Other agencies have also received similar loads of applications thereby prompting clandestine recruitment processes laced with prebendalism, favouritism and corruption.

Nigeria which is the most populous nation in Africa mirrors the major challenges of the continent. Nigeria produces over 500,000 tertiary institution graduates every year with just a small percent of the large figure securing jobs. 23 million Nigerians are presently unemployed, the GDP growth of the country according to the National Bureau of Statistics recently shrank from 2.4% to 2.01% in Q1, 2019 amid credible fears of a return to economic recession as experienced in 2016. Hundreds of companies are closing down relative to the speed they were established, food production has plummeted due to adverse weather conditions, coupled with insecurity and lack of adequate support from the government for farmers; balance of payment deficit, over-reliance on oil, dwindling currency value and gargantuan corruption at the corridors of power.

This myriad of challenges is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, Africa has a high level of poverty that it could conveniently export them across the countries of the world. According to The Brookings Institution, the average poverty rate for sub-Saharan Africa stands at about 41 percent, and of the world's 28 poorest countries, 27 are in sub-Saharan Africa all with a poverty rate above 30 percent. With the accelerated increase in population across Africa coupled with a high level of poverty, African youths seem to have lost their sense of belonging; there is a need for a new place they could call home.

Lawyer and human rights advocate, Bolanle Folawiyo has always argued on national Television that migration of youths in Africa to the Global North countries will never stop until the local economic hardships are attended to by governments in the continent.

“As a result of climate change, animals migrate from their natural habitats in search of food for survival and this is also applicable to human beings who will not hesitate to leave the immediate environment in search of greener pastures. So, in my own opinion, massive migration in Africa is a failure of successive administrations which have failed to tackle poverty” he emphasized.

According to the IOM and UNHCR estimates, around one million migrants and refugees arrived in Europe in 2015 until 21, December 2015, three to four times more than in 2014. And 5 years later, the figures are still on the increase.
The latest choice of destination for Nigerian millennials is Canada through the Express Entry program and other streams which actually don't come cheap. The IELTS which is the Achilles heel of most Nigerians keeps gulping the scarce resources of candidates targeting competitive band scores.

The antidote to the 'epidemic' of indiscriminate or legal migration lies in the hands of African leaders who need to invest in human capital development and create opportunities for the growing populations.

RomanceThe Truth About Delta Tradition That Forbids Married Women From Sleeping Outside by uche87(op): 2:17pm On May 30, 2019
Many people have expressed mixed feelings since information filtered in that a certain curse said to be a part of the tradition and custom observed in some parts of Delta state forbids a married woman from cheating on her husband. Failure to obey this tradition results in the death of her children and husband.

More impetus has been added to the story since photos of Regina Daniels surfaced online showing her being initiated into womanhood according to Anioma culture and drinking from a cup given to her by her husband, Ned Nwoko.

Netizens are worried if the curse is true or not, as some will not want to marry from such a place.

From extensive research which I have gathered, I will present the facts to clear the air on some false information being circulated about this particular tradition. I will also tell you what I believe.

First and foremost, such a tradition is in practice - yes, when a woman married to a man from Delta state commits adultery, it will not only result in the death of her children, her husband also risks losing his life if the woman fails to confess. It is a very well known tradition in the state.

According to the tradition, the cheating woman's family will be struck with mysterious death, starting with her children, then ultimately to her husband. If she doesn't have children, then her husband will be the one to lose his life.

But, rarely does it reach that level, because when such curse takes effect, the husband of such a woman is likely to know and take drastic steps to save his life and that of his children.

This custom and tradition is popular among the people of Anioma (Enuani, Ika and Ndokwa/Ukwuani). I have also heard that it is also practiced by Isoko and Urhobo people of Delta state.

Traditional facts you must know:

1). In some parts of Delta, the curse is commonly referred to as Ishi/Ishia Ishi - confession of infidelity.

2). This custom applies only if the woman is traditionally married and her bride price paid. So, if her bride price has not been paid, nothing will happen to her if she cheats.

3).If the cheating woman cooks for husband with goodies or money gotten from her adulterous partners, then the curse will affect her husband.

4). A woman cheating on her husband cannot prepare food for him.

5). The man will be struck with swollen belly and legs. If the couple have kids, the kids will die one after the other mysteriously.

6). The man must be from any of the communities in Anioma - Ukwuani, Enu-Ani (Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, Asaba, parts of Igbodo, Ilah, Isseles, Idumujes, Onichas etc); Ika (Agbor, Umunede, Owas etc) and Aboh.

7). If the man is also from any of Isoko and Urhobo communities, the custom applies.

cool. It does not affect a woman from any part of Delta state married to a non-indigene of Delta state.

9). The man can cheat with as many women as possible and nothing will happen to him.

10). Nothing happens to the woman and the men whom she is cheating with.

11). If she confesses, in some instances, she's expected to task the men she has been cheating with - if they are reachable - to contribute for the ritual to avert the curse on her family.

12). For the curse to be averted, the woman must confess and perform rituals to free her husband and children.

Conclusion:

This tradition/custom/curse is a concept from a misogynist mind and cannot stand modern day test. As an advocate of equity, I believe this tradition is set out to achieve one way objective - to keep the women folk at bay while the men have the sexual freedom they have always desired.

It is true that this tradition has helped keep most women who marry from Delta state from cheating on their partners, however, it will not be unwise to say that the gods who formulated this curse/custom/tradition were indeed lacking of wisdom.

How can you allow a man or men cheating with a married woman go scot-free, yet go ahead to punish the woman's innocent children and husband? It is a waste of punishment!

The curse should be for the woman and her cheating partners and should have nothing to do with the innocent husband and her innocent children.

As a millennial youth, I believe this custom and tradition is outdated and should never be included in our traditional practices. It does not accommodate the principle of equity. It is meant to subdue the woman while giving freedom to the menfolk to desecrate the marital bed with no consequences.

Finally, I do not believe in the efficacy of this tradition and custom. It is in my opinion a scare-tactics invented by our forefathers to keep their women at bay.

I will never encourage infidelity, but I believe a tradition/custom/culture that tends to subjugate one gender while giving another gender the license to engage in unwholesome attitude without any consequences does not mean well for the society.

It is left for you to believe what you want to believe. As for me, I do not believe in this practice.

RomanceNever A Dull Moment In Lagos - Budding OAP Tells Relocation Story by uche87(op): 2:45pm On May 28, 2019
Oyewole Oluwafoyekemisola, a talented On-Air-Personality relocated from the city of brown roofs to Lagos State to pursue her big dreams and she is telling her story.

I was born, bred, buttered and jammed in Ibadan. I had my primary and secondary education in Ibadan. I made up my mind not to stay in Ibadan for my undergraduate studies, so I went to Obafemi Awolowo University. I stayed all my life in Idi-shin. My church was at ANCE building (Jesus Academy), so my life was essentially school, church and home; I didn’t really have a social life. Plus the fear of my mum’s beating was the beginning of wisdom for me.

I moved to Lagos finally on the 22nd of January 2018. I went for a training at the National Broadcast Academy at Adekunle Fajuyi. I was a bit skeptical about moving because I was scared of Lagos life and Mosquitoes(lol). Moving to Lagos was something I had to do so I left my fears behind and hit the road.

Trust me when I say the atmosphere in Lagos is really different. The hustle starts right from the toll gate unlike the peace and quiet we have in Ibadan. My first night at the academy I couldn’t sleep because there was no light and Mosquitoes did a welcome feast on me! Light was restored like around 6 am, I was happy that I could catch up on sleep a little then came the almighty train! I didn’t know when I started crying(lol); it was that bad!

I haven’t stayed up to a year in Lagos but, man, I have adjusted already o. Before I left Ibadan, I used to feel I couldn’t cope with waking up very early to go to work then come back late and all. At first, it was a bit challenging but now I am so used to it that once it’s 5am I am up; even on a Sunday morning!

Moving around has been fairly easy; Taxify has made my stay there very comfortable, God bless the person behind that. All you have to do is make a request and your ride will be available in the next 5minutes max; unlike the migration cabs we have in Ibadan.

However, I once had an interview in VI, so I requested for an Uber ride because I felt it was going to be more comfortable, little did know that my village people were waiting for me. The ride that was supposed to cost me max between N3,500 – N4000 cost me N8,000 because the driver kept on taking me round and round forming he didn’t really know where I was going to. Thank God I had enough cash on me if not, serious gobe! I later told a friend of mind about what happened, he laughed and said the Uber guy just welcomed you officially to Lagos! I was sad!

There’s never a dull moment in Lagos. I tell my friends that if I had known that this was what Lagos was like, I would have moved a long time ago. If you sell stones in Lagos, people will buy.

I miss the peace and quiet we have in Ibadan. A lot of times, I miss the original amala and gbegiri we have. I also miss the original fresh roasted corn we have in Ibadan a lot of times but, man, Lagos is the money making place, I can’t trade that for anything.
