CultureSee The 81-year Old Historical Tower That Gives Complete Aerial View Of Ibadan by uche87(op): 3:40pm On Jul 20, 2017
Maiden online TV company - Hello Oduduwa founded in June, 2017 by ace Nigerian photographer, Ginikah Okafor Emmanuel to cover the rich history and monumental structures of the Yorubas has covered a historical and pre-colonial structure in the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State regarded as the Bower's Tower.

The structure which is one of its kind was commissioned in 1936 in honour of the first British resident in Ibadan and the traveling commissioner of the Yorubaland, south- western region of Nigeria, between 1893 and 1879 - Captain Robert Lister Bower.

Mr Bower is fondly regarded as the 'Ajele' of Ibadan due to his contribution to the development of the ancient city.

The Bower’s Tower, located at the peak of Oke- Are, the highest hill in Ibadan, is one of the historical monuments that Ibadan could be proud of. It is 60 feet high and 11 feet with two entrances and a long spiral stairs. From the top of the monument, the altitude of Ibadan would be seen as a vast sheet of brown roofs.

The building was nicknamed ‘Layipo’ because of its long spiral staircase which some claim to make them dizzy after climbing. It served as one of the most visited tourist center in the city of Ibadan.

The memorial tower symbolizes a plethora of meanings.

On one hand, it is perceived that the peoples reflection of the footprints of Bower in the annals of their history necessitated the erection of that historic monument as a memorial of his relatively peaceful era, socio-economic development as well as his general administrative acumen in the course of his service among them which remain indelible. As a rider to this, the monument serves as a reminder to the Ibadan people in particular and the Yoruba in general, of the man who firmly established the loyalty of their forebears to the British imperial crown. (S. Ademola Ajayi, 2008.)

Mounting the tower gives one the cherished advantage of enjoying an aerial view of Ibadan and seeing the expansive area of land - a total area of 3,080 square kilometres.

According to the anchor of the short documentary named Wole Adejumo, climbing the long stairs helps one to sight the Lekan Salami Stadium, University College hospital, Broken House (Femi Johnson) at Dugbe as well as other buildings of interest.

Follow the indigenous online TV on 'Hellooduduwa' on Instagram and Facebook as it celebrates the beauty of the Yoruba culture in its next journalistic adventure.

PoliticsBefore Secession: Open Letter To My Biafran Woman by uche87(op): 6:17pm On Jul 16, 2017
Dear Chizaram,

As the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election which is a litmus test of influence and power between the secessionists and the Federal Government approaches; I deem it appropriate to express my fears through this medium.

The popularity and surge in the campaign of hate and division by the leader of the Independent People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has remained cancerous to the 'theoretical' unity of Nigeria. As a political scientist and public commentator observing the state of political affairs in the Southeast state, I am of the opinion that the electoral exercise scheduled for the 18th of November, 2017 election will be successful despite the intimidating confidence and proclamation of Mr. Kanu. But what if I get my analysis wrong my love?

The implication is that the Federal Government will be strong-armed into organizing a referendum for the exit of the Igbo Nation from Nigeria which might go the inapt way. What will become of our seeming formidable love amid the political squabble accrued to seceding? This question has taken sleep off my eyes and caused me to look out of the windows at night searching for answers that are beyond me under the faint lights of the stars.

Aside our romance my future wife, I am more concerned about the economic advantage of population size and landmass Nigeria is about to throw away to the dogs due to the menace of inscrutable, impassive and vacuous pseudo leaders making populist statements to hoodwink the plebeians and the weak-willed citizens for self-absorbed gains. The entrepreneurial skills of the South-easterners coupled With the agrarian nature of the locals in the northern part of the country, the depth of formal education in the Southwest and the crude oil in the South-south part of the country if unified could provide the formidable force for the economic recovery of the country if our strengths are efficiently harnessed and exploited without corruption as we have today.

I am scared of my imaginations of the crises of Sudan and South Sudan which degenerated into two different civil wars within 1955-1972 and 1983-2005 and also the South Sudanese civil war of 2013 till date. What about the Syrian civil war which has been ongoing since 2011 with the world losing count of the death toll? According to Al Jazeera, more than 465,000 Syrians have been killed in the fighting, more than a million injured and over 12 million Syrians - half the country's prewar population - have been displaced from their homes.

I am disturbed about a repetition of gory incidents of violence during the Nigerian civil war of 6th July, 1967- 15th of January, 1970 where brothers and sisters assumed different identities and killed each other. According to history, over the two and half years of the war, there were about 100,000 overall military casualties, while between 500,000 and 2 million civilians died from starvation. This excludes the infrastructural facilities destroyed and economic activities disrupted during the period of turbulence. Till date, the wounds have refused to heal and they have become plagues spreading from one generation to the other.

What about the Rwandan genocide involving the Hutu and the Tutsi causing the death of about a 500,000 to one million people within a period of 100 days from April 7 to mid-July 1994? An estimated 2,000,000 Rwandans were displaced and became refugees. The scars have refused to fade away even under the beauty of expensive clothes and heavy make-ups by the women literally speaking.

May that day not come when Nigeria will be divided across ethnic lines and the Igbos will be called to evacuate the South-west and other parts of the country for the Southeast for census as part of the secession process.
Chizaram, I am scared of the uncertainties and spatial separation this might cause between us. I can't imagine you applying for a visa to see me wherever I find myself in the remains of Nigeria. I can't picture my family obtaining visas for the traditional rites of our envisioned wedding in Umudike, Abia State.

I am so much pertubed about the threat to the businesses investments of the Igbos in Lagos State where they dominate the local economy with enviable success. Business moguls like Ifeanyi Ubah, Orji Uzor Kalu, Sir Emeka Offor Cosmos Maduka, Chief Arthur Eze, Vincent Amaechi Obianodo, Leo Stan Ekeh, Pascal Dozie, Tony Ezenna, Pat Utomi and other underground wealthy men running business empires in the financial nerve-centre of Nigeria will be highly apprehensive over this menace being blindly supported by a majority of youths acting on impulse with no sense of history and foresight.

My Nirvana, I remember you telling me how you will like to own your own consulting firm in Lagos and also give back to the society where you grew up. With the imminent secession, the achievement of that vision might be cumbersome as Nigeria and the Igbo Nation will likely part with a war colder than what Russia and America have shared since 1947 after the Wold War II.

The governor of Plateau State, Solomon Lalong just recently announced that the Igbos hold 70% of the Certificates of Occupancy in his state which is a subtle threat to the indigenous people but nobody is making a fuss about it. The Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje also affirmed the indispensability of the Igbos in economic growth when he said Kano would not have risen to become a commercial hub to reckon with without the presence of majorly the Igbos and other ethnic groups. This describes how much we have been so mixed with each other despite our over 400 ethnic nationalities. What about the flourishing businesses of the Igbos in other northern parts of the country as well as the Southwest? Some Igbo businessmen have even failed to leave the war-torn north-eastern part of the country due to the cash flows from their enterprises.

When I was posted to Bauchi State for my National Youth Service Corp in 2010, I thought I was outside this world already because the people looked strange to me physically coupled with their language but to my surprise, some local merchants from the Southeast were joyously trading among them and conversing freely.

I wish these youth supporting the ostensibly myopic and ill-thought-out cause of the Independent People of Biafra and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB could see beyond their noses to realize that the strength of Nigeria just like the United States of America lies in her diversity and size.

Dear Chizaram, I hope you don't feel I am insensitive to the plight of your people. This national marriage that gave birth to Nigeria as brokered by British colonialist, Sir Frederick Lugard's amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria in 1914 is clearly imperfect. Nothing is perfect in this world. A course work in Philosophy during my University days taught me that perfection only exists in the Utopian world of forms - a figment of human imaginations.

The way the northerners in Nigeria clinch to power is mind-boggling. They make it seem like its their birth-right. Democracy which is a game of the majority favours them. The appointments into public offices made by President Muhammadu Buhari are truthfully lopsided, the Igbos have only produced a President ceremonially (Nnamdi Azikwe) for just 6 months in the 56 years of existence of the Nigerian entity. Northerners are presently heading 14 out of the the 17 security agencies in Nigeria while southerners hold 3, the rebuilding, reconstruction and reconciliation process of the Southeast after the war hasn't been sincerely and duly followed as promised by the government, the 2017 budgetary allocation for capital projects - N28.22 billion to the Southeast appears meagre compared to the north (North-Central got N207bn; North-West, N73.7bn; South-West, N48.97bn; North-East N46.69bn; South-South, N35.31bn), the migrating Fulani herdsmen have freely maimed, killed people and destroyed properties without any quintessential government interference, even Buhari once admitted on foreign soil that he will not treat the regions in Nigeria evenly as their voting pattern during the 2015 election will be considered in his approach to national development; the pitfalls go on and on.

Power is transient, Aso Rock Villa is not Buhari's father's house or his private property. His time will come and go but if the Igbos leave, they might never come back. This reminds me of the words of the former British Prime Minister David Cameron to the Scottish people when he was faced with a referendum in 2014.

Here is an interesting excerpt from his lengthy speech:

"If you don’t like me – I won’t be here forever. If you don’t like this Government – it won’t last forever. But if you leave the UK – that will be forever.

Yes, the different parts of the UK don’t always see eye-to-eye.

Yes, we need change – and we will deliver it but to get that change, to get a brighter future, we don’t need to tear our country apart."

On a lighter note, I can't imagine the streets of FESTAC Town in Lagos without those local dishes like Oha soup, Ofe Onugbu, Abacha and Ugba, Ofe Akwu, Ofe Nsala, Isi Ewu, Nkwobi and others. Even though the people of other tribes have learned it, you can't compare with the expertise of the Igbo folks.

Imagine the club houses and other social gatherings in Lagos without the light-skinned Igbo ladies constantly 'slaying' under the colourful lights with those natural endowments American stars like Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, Black Chyna, Remy ma and others allegedly paid plastic surgeons handsomely to acquire. But our sisters got them for free in original form.

There is a widespread stereotype that our Igbo sisters love money but some of us can't take our eyes off them due to the alluring beauty they possess. Its two years now and I still remember the outstanding Egusi soup a female friend, Chidinma once prepared for me. I was intoxicated and had to suggest marriage as a way of tying her down still she reminded me my bank account is as frail as Buhari in London. I will never trade these sweet For gold or silver.

Chizaram dear, I hope my revelations haven't sparked any jealousy in you with my very personal revelations. Its my utmost wish that they serve the general will of keeping Nigeria together as one for our onward movement. I urge the government to tackle the issue of poverty, unemployment and debilitated economy which has caused undue anger in people prompting the messianic status given to Nnamdi Kanu who has struggled in United Kingdom as a black man.

I applaud the audacity of a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu who has dared odium to publicly play down the essence of the Biafra cause. I have no plans of marrying a foreigner or losing my friends.

I believe in a united Nigeria and I will fight with my pen to keep my beautiful Chizaram close to me till the day I meet my demise.

Yours sincerely,
Osayimwen Osahon George
Lagos State, Nigeria.

PoliticsIt's 60 Days: Will President Buhari Ever Return To Nigeria From London? by uche87(op): 6:38pm On Jul 07, 2017
Today makes it 60 days that President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress jetted out of Nigeria for a follow-up medical treatment in London, United Kingdom.

On the 7th of May, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari - a former military dictator transmitted a letter to the National Assembly to officially transfer his political power to his deputy, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as he embarked on an indefinite medical leave to London.

Today makes it 60 days that President Buhari has left the shores of this country without an official explanation about his state of health to Nigerians. The nature of Buhari's ailment remains unknown as the alternative media has alleged that the 74 year old is battling with Crohn's disease as well as cancer and the toll of old age.

There are rumours that Buhari is bed-ridden with his voice impaired thereby making him unfit to govern Nigeria. Some political hawks reportedly arranged with Buhari so send an audio message to Nigerians on the 25th of June, 2017 during the Eid al-Fitr celebration by the Muslims in Nigeria.

Buhari's audio message was delivered in Hausa language belonging to the dominant ethnic group thereby dividing Nigeria faster than the secessionist advocacies of the Biafra separatists and the coalition of Arewa Youth groups.

As the former soldier remains 'Missing in Action' for about two months due to health issues, his popularity has continued to dminish. Its not sure if he will run for office in the 2019 presidential election. Its also uncertain if Nigerians will vote for an elderly and sickly leader despite his integrity claims.

Tori News political correspondent, Osayimwen Osahon George has consistently condemned the secrecy Buhari's health is shrouded in as Nigerians deserve to know his well-being.

It remains unclear when the Fulani native will be returning to Nigeria as the poor masses lament on the 'long distance relationship' between Nigerians and their leader especially during a period of political, security and economic turbulence.

PoliticsOur President Goes 'missing' In London by uche87(op):
It will be delusional to believe a leader battling for his life in spite of available world class medical facilities will have the capability of salvaging a sinking ship of over 180 million people - Osayimwen Osahon George, journalist at Tori News.

48 days after President Muhammadu Buhari announced he was leaving the shores of the country for London, United Kingdom for a follow-up medical treatment on the 7th of March, 2017, he has refused to communicate directly with Nigerians.

Everything about the President who is a 'public property' by virtue of the responsibilities bestowed on him as a leader has been shrouded in secrecy by a powerful cabal as rumoured.Regular pictures of a fragile Buhari attending to special guests at the prestigious Abuja House in London have refused to surface like we had it when he was initially on medical exile the last time for 49 days.

The mainstream media has remained loudly quiet about the health status or actual location of the First Man of Nigeria who appears to have literally lost the strength to fight corruption which he was railroaded into office to battle. Foremost Nigerian newspaper, The Guardian summoned courage to sponsor a correspondent to the Abuja House on a fact-finding mission but security operatives almost engaged him militarily to abort his journalistic work.

The alternative media again has risen up to play on the sensibilities of Nigerians in the absence of a viable and trusted channel of information/communication to reveal Buhari's true health status concealed expertly for egoistic and thoughtless political reasons. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who is the spokesman of the Federal Government appears to be speaking to himself alone due to trust issues borne out of thousands of incoherent and unverifiable 'Tales by Moonlight' credited to his person in the cause of laundering the image of this present administration.

The Kwara State native had sacrificed his credibility and integrity during the heated 2015 general elections when he was accused of feeding Nigerians with intelligently crafted and spontaneous lies for cheap political ratings. The former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress appears to be gaining felicitous attention from Nigerians patronizing satirical and comedy social media pages just to laugh off the scathing hassles of economic recession which is putting citizens at the risk of depression. A recent statement by the Chief Consultant and Head of Behavioural Medicine, Karu General Hospital, Dr Daramola Tayo, posits that an estimated nine million Nigerians may be suffering from depression and by my understanding, we can't separate the abysmal economic realities of the country from the nationwide disconsolation and despondency.

There are reports that Nigeria is being ruled by a cabal in the name of Buhari who has been rumoured to be bed-ridden. Online news platform, Sahara Reporters claims the 74 year old leader of Fulani descent suffers speech impairment due to the side-effects of medical treatments and he has not spoken to anyone in a while.

Aisha Buhari, his wife as well as the embattled former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu have doused the mental tension faced by sympathizers of Buhari by bringing suspected fabricated goodwill messages of London from Buhari. On arrival, they have revealed the President is recuperating and will be returning to Nigeria soon. The golden question remains how soon? Can this be as soon as the coming of Jesus Christ as revealed by the Holy Bible?

Some legal practitioners are of the opinion that Mr. Buhari can afford to stay 'forever' in the Abuja House, London or anywhere in the world to attend to his debilitating illness as far as he has relinquished power to his deputy -Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo who was handed the controversial 'co-ordinating' power as stated in a letter sent to the National Assembly by Buhari to communicate his indefinite leave and power transmission.
A constitutional lawyer and former Chairman of Public Interest Lawyers League - PILL, Dr Abdul Mahmud, affirmed that there is no specified number of days the President can spend on vacation. He cited section 145 of the Constitution to back up his argument:

“When the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representative a written declaration that he is proceeding on a vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President”.

Buhari who spent 16 years fantasizing and jostling for the seat of the President has being constantly appealed to in good and ill-health to resign as Nigeria takes abode in recession and insecurity from Boko Haram terrorists, killer Fulani herdsmen and high-profile kidnappers like Chukwudi Dumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans - the celebrity criminal.

In Buhari's absence, the National Bureau of Statistics revealed 5.5 million Nigerians lost their jobs under him in two years as against his campaign promise of creating 3 million jobs per year. A recent attack by suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers in Borno State claimed the lives of 17 people with 24 others injured. Gradually, the fear of terrorist attacks is returning to Borno State as the Buhari administration celebrates the "technical defeat" over Boko Haram.
Nigeria is also yet to recover from its worst economic recession although the Naira is recovering against the Dollar in the parallel market courtesy of the regular interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The anti-corruption team has been firing blank following the loss of high profile cases like that of Justice Adeniyi Ademola and his wife Olabowale, Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal and the six suspended judges have been recalled by the National Judicial Commission. The national budget of 2017 which is the blueprint of development in the state for the year was dramatically passed in the middle of the year. There are also the threats that Buhari might not meet Nigeria as a united nation following the unbridled showboating between the coalition of Arewa Youth Organizations, Ohaneze Ndigbo and the Independent People of Biafra, IPOB.

The recent ethnic clashes between the Fulani community and the Mambila tribe in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State has reportedly claimed 200 lives, 4,000 cattle, precious properties destroyed, thousands displaced with many injured people in just four days. And also, there have been incidents of rape and murder by irate Fulani herdsmen who have also invaded schools with their animals thereby disrupting educational activities as recorded in Edo State.

This anomaly has further divided Nigeria as victims in the geopolitical zones seek justice against their tormentors in futility. The popular notion is that Buhari is sympathetic to the violent cause of his Fulani brothers. All these are just highlights of despicable events engulfing Nigeria as Buhari is distracted with the combat for his life on foreign soil.

But what is actually wrong with President Buhari who has kept us in the dark about the ailment that has necessitated a blood transfusion as well as a temporary vacation from his highly coveted seat of power? Is this a playback of the incident of former President Shehu Musa Yar'Adua of Katsina, northern part of Nigeria who passed away in office in 2010? There are similarities between both cases if we desist from being sentimental, emotional, partisan and economical with the truth. The alternative media is suggesting with utmost credence that Buhari might be battling with Crohn's disease as well as cancer as he has allegedly become incapacitated including suffering from incidents of dementia. With Buhari 14 years above the official retirement age, one doesn't expect a rosy recovery.

As a man of integrity and honour that Buhari is believed to be, why can't he respect the trust given to him by over 15 million Nigerians during the 2015 presidential election by coming out clean with the actual status of his health?

Benin President Patrice Talon, 59 underwent two surgeries during a prolonged stay in Paris, France. His spokesman broke the African jinx by publicly admitting on Monday, 19th of June, 2017 that doctors found a lesion (related to cancer) in his prostate. Talon's case is very similar to that of Buhari as he was also mysteriously away from his country for almost a month thereby compounding the menace of medical tourism at the expense of his local economy.

In as much as most of us still love and believe Buhari could govern the affairs of this country from a sick bed in Europe (similar to the case of 93-year old Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe) courtesy of our unfounded and uncanny loyalty to him, we should remind ourselves that being heavily drunk doesn't translate to blindness. It’s time to tell some bitter truths in pursuance of the general will of the people.

Mr. Eric Stuart Joyce, the well-known British ex-military, ex-Member of Parliament and serving MI6 operative who has alleged Buhari is dead without being confronted with hard facts and figures has described the leader of a country as a "public property" that should be accurately and promptly accounted for on public demand.

In his words:

“And so, a top tip for Nigerians. Insist that, like most democracies, it is a strict requirement of being president that your people know exactly what your physical condition is at all times. This practice is not historically confined to democracies, of course. Kings of old were routinely watched in their bedchambers; Queens were watched as they gave birth to heirs. This was all to ensure that things were as they seemed. Requiring a president to show he is capable of running his country, and is definitely not dead, is a simple and practical extension of this."

Buhari's health status has become a taboo topic in Nigeria while the country faces its worst fear of disintegration. This is the chain reaction of having a faulty head in any setting. Nobody will be shocked if a drunken man leads his beautiful body adorned with ostentatious attires and jewelleries into the dirty gutters of Oshodi, Lagos because something vital is missing in his head.

Once there is a problem with the head, the other attached units will struggle and falter. Fate has reduced the almighty Buhari - the messiah of Nigeria two years ago to a sickly man that can hardly save himself not to talk of the sinking ship of Nigeria conveying about 180 million people who are backwardly divided among primordial lines courtesy of the cancerous antics of politicians. Buhari's effectiveness as a leader has become a wild fantasy and a masturbatory feeling Nigerians have to wipe their eyes and recover from because an indisposed man cannot heal a sick country. Some Nigerians are already drafting their condolence messages for the anticipated news of Buhari's demise just like Yar'Adua. God forbid!

Since the main opposition party in Nigeria - People's Democratic Party, PDP has failed to serve as a viable watchdog to the ruling All Progressives Congress as democracy entails, the onus is on the Nigerian masses to rise up and take the country back from the hands of self-seeking elites through vibrant and peaceful advocacies.

It’s time for us Nigerians to wake up and ask questions regardless of our political affiliation or other attachments to the ruling class. Borrowing a leaf from the political movement of a former PMAN (Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria) president, Charles 'Charly Boy' Oputa, 'our mumu don do!'

PropertiesHeat And Mosquitoes: Inside Lagos Neighbourhood Where Residents Hardly Sleep by uche87(op): 10:11am On Jun 13, 2017
After spending 11 hours at work on a Wednesday, and another solid 2 hours in Lagos traffic choked with poor ventilation in elderly vehicles and unavoidably sniffing foul odour from stagnant waters and blocked gutters; Morenike Olaniyan – a single lady in her late twenties returned to her rented apartment at FESTAC extension to close her eyes in sleep.

This was expected to afford her the chance to replenish her depleted energy level and enjoy a temporary escape from her financial worries aggravated by the high cost living and the ruthless economic hardship ravaging the entire country unendurably.

In some parts of Lagos State which is the commercial capital of Nigeria, having an air-conditioner is not a luxury like some people in Ibadan or other small cities in Nigeria might believe. It’s ineluctable because the normal electric fans can't do the proper work of ventilating the house erected in an area where town planners were purposely alienated from the equation for egoistic reasons.

The seeming minute quantity of oxygen is rationed among an unofficial population of 23 million people occupying a landmass of 3,577 km² scavenging the length and breadth of the area for scarce economic resources. FESTAC extension is just outside FESTAC Town itself as the name suggests.

FESTAC Town has been described as one of the few well-planned areas in the over-populated metropolitan city of Lagos but that might not be said about the extension area which is like the dichotomy of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The extension is an area of old storey buildings where most blocks have 16 flats, some 32 and others 8. Some of the small rooms housed families of four or more hyperbolically sleeping on top of each other.

For the record, FESTAC Town is a federal housing estate located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Its name is derived from the acronym FESTAC, which stands for Second World African Festival of Arts and Culture that was held there in 1977.

FESTAC town, originally referred to as "Festival Town" or "Festac Village", is a residential estate designed to house the participants of the Second World Festival of Black Arts and Culture of 1977 (Festac77). Consisting of 5,000 contemporary dwelling units and seven major avenues, the town was designed in an efficient grid in order to accommodate upwards of 45,000 visitors as well as any Nigerian employees and officers working at the Festival.

The Nigerian government invested substantial sums of money and resources into building FESTAC Town, which sported state of the art electrical generators, police and fire stations, access to public transportation, supermarkets, banks, health centres, public restrooms, and postal services. The village was therefore intended to evoke the modern age and the promise of state-sponsored economic development fuelled by oil revenues.

After the festival, the Federal Government of Nigeria allocated the housing and landed properties to eventual winners who participated in a ballot. Initial regulations forbade such winners from renting and disposing-of the properties to third parties but these appear to have changed now.
Back to Morenike, she sluggishly opened the door to her mini-flat in the FESTAC extension area of the state. Her flat was situated in a four-storey building of 32 flats of majorly two bedrooms each with occupants switching on their power generators of diverse sizes owing to the failure of the power companies to match their high and mostly estimated power bills with efficient and reliable service delivery. In fact, the entire house could be likened to a big factory of gigantic machines at night as soon as power goes off. This is so critical that one of the storey buildings experienced a partial collapse earlier this year and the vibration caused by generators was suspected by the committee of occupants.

As Morenike opened the door to her flat, some ‘uninvited guests’ with modern ‘musical instruments’ who preferred her brand of blood were well stationed at the door ready to join some of their colleagues in the rooms for a night of feast at the expense of her wellbeing. It was already 11pm, Morenike munched the bread and fried egg she had bought from a Hausa trader commonly called Mishai along the road. Her eyes were failing her and she struggled to open the small window in her room which was normally stifling and air-less almost all round the year due to obvious reasons. The area was densely populated and it was as if the builder of the house almost skipped the window from the plan. The area was like a mini-market due to several retail outlets that were illegally erected by residents to make ends meet. The resultant effect was that all the available facilities in the area including fresh air were severely strained.

In a matter of 30 minutes after she changed into her pyjamas, Morenike had begin to sleep when 'hundreds' of the unwanted and unpaid musicians playing a blend of European, American and African contemporary music in her ears started the what looked like a circus show. She restlessly rolled around in distress in response to the nuisance they constituted.

In no time, her body was enveloped in sweat from the intense heat in her room. The power company had supplied more of the usual darkness that night. In no time, her body began to itch her from all angles. The ‘performers’ were done with their music. It was time to feast and her blood made a palatable red wine for them. Morenike woke up to see her visitors flying around in strange mass ‘pregnancies’. It was clear they were drunk on her blood. She reached for an insecticide but it was detrimental health-wise to spray it and still sleep inside the same room. The level of tiredness affected the quality of her decisions as she gazed at the clock which read 12am. The single lady left for her veranda in total confusion and was stunned to observe approximately 15 electric generators working tirelessly.

The fumes flooded the vibrating floors; it was as if the rundown building with drab colours was going to collapse. Generators could be heard from afar of making waves in other buildings close-by. The noises of the power generators were irregular depending on their capacities, power load and years of service. Some sounded like the component units were going to disintegrate like the major tribes in Nigeria.

Morenike looked into the sky in abject bleakness and tribulation as she unconsciously tried counting the stars. She started looking at Nigeria as an extension of hell fire. She pictured heaven in her head and felt like having a relief there for an hour. She thought about the possibility of missing heaven and heading to the lake of fire as the Christian faith teaches.

She looked around and spotted two of her scantily-clad neighours hustling for fresh air with the aid of a hand fan as they battled with unseen mosquitoes drawing blood inconveniently from their legs. Her body needed rest but the environment wasn’t conducive. The dirtiness of the surroundings was a chain reaction of the lack of unity among occupants who have frequently turned down pleas to contribute to a common fund and get the environment fumigated.

“I am used to mosquitoes, I hardly fall sick. Make them bite me, na them go tire” is the kind of response you will get from some tenants in the building obviously shying away from responsibilities and liabilities. Every penny counts in Lagos and every Lagosian tends to be too wise for himself as well as nursing distrust against his neigbhours.

Morenike’s plight is a typical night most Lagosians and Nigerians endure. The situation can only be ameliorated with more money. The decent houses in habitable areas are unnecessarily expensive. Some privileged people run their generators with their air-conditioners. This means the fuel which is sold at N145 per litre will suffer at the expense of one’s recessed pockets.

Morenike stood disillusioned spotting all the oddities in the building with her eyes hovering to and fro as she expressed regrets about being a Nigerian. Her friend in South Africa had earlier discussed with her about the constant power supply he enjoyed. Nigeria is struggling with an insufficient and unsteady power supply of over 4,000 megawatts for over 180 million people despite spending a whooping sum of N2.7 trillion in 16 years. South Africa which has a population of 54.96 million manages 34, 000 megawatts of electricity which is subject to a yearly increase to cope with demand. Most countries of the world have overcome the challenge of erratic power supply but Nigeria has refused to outgrow hers.

The All Progressives Congress-led administration of ‘Change’ ushered in a former governor of Lagos State – Babatunde Raji Fashola as the Minister of Power, Works and Housing thought it wise to increase the power tariff by 45% without a corresponding improved quality of power supply. In fairness, Fashola appears to have been progressively busy with invisible results regarded as ‘motion without movement’.

Morenike’s woes certainly didn’t end here, she decided to have a cold bath to ease the heat but the tap wasn’t running and all the buckets were empty. Since there was no light, pumping of water from the borehole was impossible and nobody wanted to use his hard-earned money to fuel his generator for the needful. Power supply is indeed inevitable in this 21st century. Morenike had always wanted to leave the apartment for a better one but she was financially-challenged. The projection didn’t agree with the average size of her monthly salary. She always tabled her job hunt before the altar in the church but she was only fortunate to keep hers in the two years austerity period of President Muhammadu Buhari administration during which 5.5 million Nigerians lost their job to economic uncertainties according to records made available by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Changing accommodation for her perceived better place will mean working and living for the landlords in Lagos as her entire salaries and savings will be exhausted by the yearly rent. Even if you have the funds for rent, it’s not an easy decision to change accommodation in Lagos due to the politics involved.

Realtors/estate agents locally called ‘House agents’ in Nigeria work in consonance with the landlords to ‘legally’ cheat people. The outrageous agent fee which costs about N100,000 upward in most cases depending on the size of the house is painfully paid apart from the gargantuan house rent. A caution fee of about N20,000 or more is also paid to the landlord and other nefarious fees before one could move into the apartment. At times, the new tenant might be forced to cough out more funds to correct some anomalies in the house to make it convenient for him.

Olusegun Afolabi, a fraud investigator in one of the leading multinational audit firms in Nigeria once paid over half a million naira as 2-year rent for a mini-flat of just one bedroom in the old Ebute-Metta area only to discover that several parts of the roof were leaking. He got to know in a very hard way after a heavy downpour that hit his house in the middle of the night. His landlord started avoiding him when he lodged complaints.

Samuel Akpabio was also taken aback when a power company official informed him after a disconnection that his apartment was owing about N450,000 accumulated power bills. The online newspaper editor was still recovering from his huge rent for the new place when he started sorting power officials every month to prevent a total blackout. His smooth-taking estate agent and house caretaker who brainwashed him that all was well with the house initiated the childish ‘Hide and Seek’ game when he raised an alarm. He had to carry an inherited cross on his fragile head throughout his lengthy stay.

At around 2am, Morenike angrily stormed her room to flush out the mosquitoes like Nigerian troops battling with Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east. She picked up a broom and engaged them in a frontal battle. She recklessly supported herself with the available insecticide. She wanted the insects to feel her ordeal too. In about an hour, the beautiful and colourful walls of her room were designed with dead mosquitoes and blood stains. It was an ugly sight! This added to her depression as she later sat on the floor and started crying out of frustration.

2 hours later, she dozed off on the floor as the remnants of the mosquitoes bit her amid panic of a possible reprisal attack. An hour later, her alarm rang and she had to prepare for work as she battled with a migraine due to inadequate sleep. She usually woke up at 5am to deal with the heavy traffic associated with the Island area of Lagos where she works.

The migraine became more intense as she dressed up looking so dejected and lost as she raced with her office bag. She became so hot-tempered overnight as she struggled to get a bus to convey her to her working place. Her eyes were red and one could have mistaken her for someone suffering from Acute Haemmorrhagic Conjunctivitis (Apollo) or even an Indian Hemp smoker. You can’t really cheat nature; Morenike in no time slept off until she passed her bus stop. She later dropped to retrace her steps only to discover her money, phone and other values were gone.

It was a nightmare she needed to wake up from. “Even if it means trekking to America or any other developed countries, I am leaving Nigeria next year to start all over. I don’t mind doing menial jobs”. Morenike told her colleagues at work as she narrated pathetic stories of her usual long nights in Lagos.

In as much as Lagos appears beautiful, it’s also starkly ugly on the inside. This accounts for the reason why most Lagosians are mentally strong. They use the odd conditions to motivate themselves to success.

PoliticsFour Notable Nigerian Prophets Who Predicted Nnamdi Kanu Will Be Released by uche87(op): 2:46pm On Apr 25, 2017
At the beginning of this year, some notable Nigerian men of God had predicted that secessionist leader, Nnamdi Kanu will be released this year, it seems like the prophecy will finally come true.

The decision of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to grant bail to the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu on health ground might soon give credence to the prophecies made by a number of Nigerian men of God at the beginning of the year that the Biafra leader will regain his freedom this year.

Kanu was arrested on the 14th of October, 2015 at the Golden Tulip Essential Lagos Airport Hotel and has been in prison for over 2 years.

Four notable Nigerian prophets had predicted that Nnamdi Kanu will be released from prison this year and having taken the first step - securing his bail - based on logistics, the words of these men of God might actually come true. Could these men of God have actually seen the future? Well, that discuss will be left for another day as I give you the list of the four notable men of God who predicted Kanu's freedom.

Four Nigerian prophets who predicted Nnamdi Kanu's release

1. Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi of King of Kings Deliverance Church had in his prophecies for 2017 stated categorically clear that Nnamdi Kanu will be released this year and that would lead to the actualization of Biafra. He made the prophecy in Asaba, Delta State.

However, Chukwudi added that towards the end of 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari’s health will fail him and he “shall go the way of all men.” It is yet to be seen if the second prophecy about Buhari will come to pass.

“Tell pro-Biafrans to stop shedding tears. Their leader Nnamdi Kanu shall not remain in prison custody for too long again. He is already on his way out. As for their (pro-Biafrans) agitations for Biafra, the Lord says it is already in the horizon. Their day shall come soon”.

“The Lord is also speaking about Nigeria. Nigeria will come out of its current recession before the end of 2019. Oil price will stabilize and hardship shall disappear.

“But towards 2019, the president’s health shall fail him, and he shall go the way of all men. But VP Yemi Osinbajo shall wrestle with the soldiers. They shall try to seize power and Osinbajo shall prevail. He shall lead Nigeria into 2019.” Chukwudi said.

2. Another notable man of God, Prophet Princewill Iheme also predicted among other things that President Muhammadu Buhari would release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.
In his own words, he said: “My fellow Nigerians, I'm not afraid to deliver God's message the only thing that can happen to a man is death which is the biological zero point of a man.
Every human being must die one day.”

“God revealed to me that President Donald Trump can't give Biafra. The only thing that can give Biafra is unity among the Biafrans. The Biafra agitators are not united so how do you think that Biafra will stand as a country? If all Biafrans unite together as one they will get Biafra before one year. So if you need Biafra there must among Biafrans first.”

Prophet Iheme restated: “President Buhari will release Kanu soon. But Donald Trump cannot give Biafra.”

3. Pastor of the Champions Royal Assembly, an Abuja based church, Bro Joshua Iginla also predicted the release of Nnamdi Kanu with his 72 prophecies for the year 2017. Pastor Iginla had said that agitation of Biafra will take another turn and that Kanu Nnamdi, the Biafra leader will face health challenge.

"The agitation of Biafra will take another turn. Pray so that this time it should not be bloody. We should pray for Kanu Nnamdi, the biafra leader, because I see an health challenge and I see bitterness and agitation from thissame region he is coming from. And I pray the current administration is very sensitive over the case of Nnamdi Kanu because what I see is not too good. May the Lord keep Nigeria. Will he come out? Yes! How will he come out? I can’t really tell. I see it as something divine. I don’t see legal issue as a means of removing him from there." he prophecied.

4. Also, an Enugu-based man of God, Prophet Anthony Nwoko
foresaw the release of Nnamdi Kanu. He had earlier in the year predicted that Kanu will regain his freedom this year.

Nwoko also said that Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will not die in office as purportedly prophesied by some people who he described as fake prophets, saying that they not of God.

“Some said President Buhari will die but I am telling the world that President Buhari will not die as that prophecy is not from God Almighty, Buhari will see the rebirth of Biafra from Nigeria”. Nwoko stated.

While speaking during his New Year prophetic message titled: ‘2017 a year of liberation for Biafra’ Nwoko said that 2017 is a golden jubilee of Biafra spiritual battle in Nigeria, adding that the storm is over.

Prophet Nwoko who is neither married nor has children said Biafra as a nation will show the light, but warned the Igbos not to deride the plan of God for them in this period of realisation as that will bring more hardship on them. He stressed that there is going to be the return of Igbo glory adding, “Ndigbo has run the race; and only those who have run the race well will be crowned.

“So in 2017 God will lift Igbo nation above other nations; 2017 is a year all the Igbo detainees across the 36 states of Nigeria on account of agitation for Biafra will be released”.

PoliticsMother Of Nigerian Soldier Going Blind After Boko Haram Killed Her Only Son by uche87(op): 4:07pm On Apr 21, 2017
A former The Cable editor and investigative journalist with special interest in the spate of Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east has reported the sorry plight of a woman after the demise of her soldier son who died fighting terrorists.

Multiple award-winning Nigerian journalist, Fisayo Soyombo has reported the case of an abandoned family of a slain Nigerian soldier whose mother is set to go blind as she suffers from an eye defect that needs prompt medical attention.

Mr. Soyombo took to his Facebook page on the 18th of April, 2017 to share the heart-rendering story of the poor woman who currently lives from hand to mouth and can't cater for her medical bills.

The story which exalts the influence of the Nigerian army in containing the Boko Haram insurgency over the years was titled "He Died For You - But He's Not Jesus Christ"

Read his story below:

Many of you are returning to work today after an extended four-day weekend made possible by the Christian celebration of Jesus Christ’s supreme sacrifice for the redemption of the world. Today, I will tell you about a man who gave his life for you and me — just that we don’t know him, much less acknowledge or celebrate his sacrifice.

For 12-and-a-half years, his parents were childless. His father, rich at the time and the proud owner of two cars, withstood pressure from his family to take another wife. “No way”, he told them. “Child or no child, my wife and I share a love that will continue like that.”

But his wife eventually conceived. When she put to bed, it was a boy. That was on July 9, 1985. Twenty-six years later, boy decides to join the Nigerian army, and he is soon drafted into the hunt for Boko haram insurgents. Once, in late 2014, he escaped death by the skin of his teeth, crawling more than four miles to safety after a brutal Boko Haram attack. He bruised his hands and legs in the process but after a few weeks in the hospital, he returned to the battlefield in January 2015.

On February 14, 2015 — perhaps at a time when many of us were snuggled up to our lovers or even busy ‘going the whole hog’ — he readied himself for one more onslaught on Boko Haram. Ahead of that trip, he wrote on social media: Well, nothing more 2say, we are going back 2 recapture our #‎monguno base 2day, I must fulfill my vow 4my country…my faith is one and ever! THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

It turned out to be his very last operation; he never returned. On March 19, 2015, he was buried in Maiduguri. This was a man who died fulfilling his vow to his country. Did his country fulfill its to him? More than two years since he fell in battle, the army has not paid his family their entitlement. But that’s not why I’m writing.

As part of field work for my book on the insurgency, I recently met the late soldier’s mother in Amansiodo Village in Ezeaga LGA of Enugu (pictured) and — much as I tried — I failed to hold back my tears. Even my sturdily-built friend who accompanied me on the trip couldn’t, too. This woman, despite ‘donating’ her son to this country, has cataract and is gradually going blind. Doctors have said she will lose her right eye if it isn’t operated upon soon enough. Tragically, it is her slain son who always promised to take care of that eye!

“He promised me that he would care for me because of my eyes,” the grief-stricken woman told me. “But I look around me every day and I don’t see him again. There’s no one to help me again. I don’t know what I’ll do; I’m tired.”

I was so moved by her anguish that I’ve chosen to momentarily forget that the interviews were meant for an upcoming book, and instead let out this bit for public consumption. I have decided to raise funds for this woman’s eye operation. If we raise more than the medical cost, she’ll have the rest for upkeep.
And I do not see it as service if we give to this woman; I consider it OUR RESPONSIBILITY. I can explain it.

I’ve noticed that south-westerners often underestimate the scale of the havoc that the bellicose Abubakar Shekau was bent on unleashing on this country. Having travelled to Borno extensively, I can confirm that were it not for the thousands of soldiers laying down their lives in the north-east, the insurgency would surely have spread to the south-west. And maybe I would be dead by now. Maybe even you reading this would be a corpse already.

We have enjoyed peace in these parts because some people gave their lives up; if there’s a chance to show their families some gratitude, let’s try!
If you’re willing to donate to the mother of this slain soldier, please inbox me on Facebook (or email me: platfom@gmail.com — no letter 'r') and I will send you the family’s account details within 24 hours. And not just am I making a public appeal for funds — I will send my own contribution as well.

Finally, anyone who donates can be sure of accountability. On my honour! When all this is over, I will put up a public post detailing how much we’ve succeeded in generating.

Are you doubting that this soldier deserves your money, particularly in this period of economic recession? Well, I personally have no doubt — because he is 'my Jesus Christ'. He gave up his life for me, why can’t I give up my money for him?

PoliticsOsborne Towers N13 Billion: A Peek At Buhari's Macabre Dance With The Looters by uche87(op): 7:07pm On Apr 17, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari's warplanes attacking the camps of venal elements in the country on Wednesday - the 12th of April, 2017 might have accidentally hit the roof of his 'extended family house' with a big bomb just like the Rann mishap in Borno State where over 236 internally displaced people were consequently killed as result of an expensive military miscalculation.

The embattled Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu in an assumed thirsting bid to impress the Presidency to the dismay of the Nigerian Senate dramatically uncovered gargantuan amount of monies calculated to be N13 billion in a luxury apartment at the prestigious Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos. Operatives of the EFCC reportedly swung into action following a tip-off from a whistleblower. The anti-corruption boss - Magu who had earlier unearthed some stray monies – N49 million at the Kaduna airport, N449 million in an abandoned Bureau de Change building in Victoria Island, Lagos and another N250 million at the popular Balogun market in Lagos Sate must have seen the intelligence report as another avenue to excite the Presidency as well as the general public about his competency and tenacity; so he broke the news on social media straight away.

In fact, the news was backed with a video footage that afforded netizens to watch hard currencies being painstakingly counted in a recessive period where money is as rare as pure gold. Magu was beginning to relish his hero moments before he later discovered that the whistle was blown in a sacred building indirectly connected to his principal’s camp.

Initially, I found it inconceivable that humongous sums of money specifically $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 will be seized in an apartment and the owner will be nowhere to be found. It was clear the powerful owner spent over 48hrs seeking soft landing from appropriate authorities. Even the EFCC left Sahara Reporters and other investigative news platforms to have a field day with erroneous reports linking the seeming illicit funds to prominent Nigerians like Esther Nnamdi Ogbue - the immediate-past managing director and chief executive officer of the downstream sector of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, former chairman of the People's Democratic Party - Adams Mu'azu, daughter of former PDP Board of Trustees chair - Tony Anenih, Senator representing Lagos West constituency – Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Chief Executive Officer of Ebony Life TV - Mo Abudu, former Rivers State Governor & current Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and lately former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan before the ostensibly dormant National Intelligence Agency came to claim the funds with an official narrative that may never sway a mentally-retarded person.

Under normal circumstances, the EFCC will conventionally issue a press release concerning the feat through its Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren or simply through Facebook just like the similar saga of the former General Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Andrew Yakubu whose mini-bank in a Kaduna slum with a capital of N3.04 billion was exposed. But on the contrary, premier anti-graft agency has maintained a loud and embarrassing silence thereby giving us the impression that the culprit caught red-handed might metaphorically be the King's only son whose mark of royalty places him above the law.

As concerned Nigerians tried to fill in the blank spaces, PDP political warhorse of the South-south, Governor Nyesom Wike raised his hoarse voice to the highest pitch to claim the orphaned funds on behalf of Rivers State. According to him, the funds belong to his former ally turned sworn foe, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi who allegedly sold gas turbines during his tenure as governor of Rivers state to an oil company, Sahara Energy and then prodigally diverted the proceeds. A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode who has seen more court rooms than a lawyer in recent times corroborated the weighty allegations of Wike who was also supported by a former deputy chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus.
Fiery legal practitioner and activist, Mike Ozekhome - a thorn in the flesh of the EFCC in the court room has also alleged that a minister serving under Buhari is the owner of the orphaned funds.

In the absence of an official statement by the EFCC as well as the Federal Government concerning the apparent slush funds, one could join the aforementioned public figures to presume that a politician who must have played strategic and pivotal roles in the emergence of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress at the centre owns the cash and all efforts are being made to secure his identity.

Concealing the face of this person is going to be herculean following the failure of the NIA to convince Nigerians that the funds were allocated for a ‘covert project’. Another brightly coloured red flag was the decision of the NIA to warehouse the funds in a private luxury apartment despite the proliferation of financial institutions in the 21st century coupled with improved means of electronic funds wiring. One also wonders what clandestine project would require such a volume of money that could be utilized to raise a private militia against the state.

Aside regarding the action as a potential case of money laundering, one could safely say it betrays the principle of accountability obtainable in a democracy as the usage of public funds of that magnitude remains undisclosed. This creates a safe haven for corruption to prosperously breed like a seedling planted by the river side.
President Buhari is currently in a close shave caused by the ambitious or overzealous nature of Magu. The old man rumoured to be struggling with his health again has decided to keep mom and let Nigerians have a field day wagging their tongues and making wild guesses. The brief response by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has aggravated an already bizarre situation if we are to weigh his words on an intellectual scale. Adesina spoke from the two sides of his mouth when he told a Premium Times reporter that the NIA's involvement with the orphaned money is more of a 'security issue than a Presidency issue', hence he had no comments on the matter. That utterance if true could be regarded as an insensate play on words if one is to be blunt with him for a second.
Adesina should be reminded that a working Presidency will not shy away from security issues. The protection of the lives and properties of the citizens of the state is one of the primary responsibilities of the government. What if those funds were reserved for the financing of terrorism? It’s been over 8 years now we don’t know the financiers of the Boko Haram sect.

This saga confirms the public view that Buhari has been harbouring some sacred cows under his tent. In fact, some political analysts will tell you in affirmation that there is no difference between the ruling APC and the opposing PDP as both parties exchange members on a daily basis. Most of the political juggernauts flying the flag of the APC contributed immensely to the stinking rot in the PDP which plunged Nigeria into perpetual backwardness. APC seems to be where their redemption lies as they become saints the moment they cross-carpet under any guise.

This saga of the orphaned Osborne Tower billions gives credibility to the assertion that Buhari's highly-celebrated anti-corruption war is selective. As painted by the newspaper cartoons, when the rampaging angels of the war see ‘the broom’ – emblem of the APC on the roof of your house, they will pass over you.
The verbose governor of Ekiti and staunch critic of this present administration, Ayodele Peter Fayose has reiterated that Buhari's anti-corruption quest is a hole-and-corner plot to muzzle dissenting voices and potential political threats. He could be right because from the look of things, the 2019 presidential election might be a walk over for Buhari as the unclothedness of potential PDP competitors have been duly exposed by the ill wind of anti-corruption.

The Osborne Tower saga will remain indelible in the history of Nigeria when the potency of Buhari's anti-graft war which is his selling point is being reviewed by political pundits. This is a litmus test for the level of transparency and impartiality of the anti-grant campaign which Buhari might not mind failing for political advantage. As a die-hard supporter of Buhari who has been deemed one of the few Nigerian leaders with integrity, I am not really appalled by his action or inaction concerning the scandal. I am more disappointed in the country as a whole. It burns my heart that there is little or no hope for the youths whose fathers, guardians, family members or friends are not connected to the ruling class as their future is being stashed in both foreign and local bank accounts, private buildings and other awkward places to avoid suspicions.

These money-grabbing politicians make up the governmental structure and they can't be questioned or else their challenger might work alone like the Borno-South senator, Ali Ndume or the House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin who are both serving lengthy suspensions for debatable offences.
The real owner of the funds could be Buhari's political backbone and financier. The last thing a sane man will want to do is to start a fight in his house because he will pay for it dearly with his sleep. One of the reasons why Buhari spent 49 days on a medical vacation in London, United Kingdom without any major threat to his esteemed seat is because of the calibre of people on his side. These people make him and without them, his political influence and authority could begin to wane. He will reciprocate their loyalty by wielding his government powers to protect them from the looming consequences of their grave sins against humanity. It's a Cul-de-sac for Nigerians and Nigeria as a whole. The only panacea to the quagmire might be the Armageddon. Let's end it all and allow the Supreme Being in heaven – God to judge us all impartially on the final day according to the provisions of the Islamic/Christian faith.

On a closing note, I sincerely urge Nigerians not to lose faith in Buhari. This battle against graft is far from perfection but it’s sacrosanct at least for the future of the country. Anti-graft war is a very minacious and emotive battle capable of turning a hero into a villain due to quantum of resources available to the bad guys. In a country like Nigeria founded on lies and deceit, if the war is to be impartial, Saint Buhari might be forced to arrest himself before others due to the questionable and unclear sources of the APC election campaign funds.

I have always argued that the war against corruption can never be unprejudiced and non-partisan as far as politics is a game of numbers and defection of party members is rife as it is in Nigeria. The desperation of politicians to amass supporters at all costs towards winning the election creates future hassles for the political leaders. They end up embracing the potential enemies of the state and also accepting financial support from them to prosecute the election.
It was the fatal mistake PDP made with a former Borno State governor - Senator Ali Modu Sheriff according to Fani Kayode in his article titled "Who Has Bewitched the PDP?”

These high-profile miscreants constantly exploiting the polity for their elitist interests will end up forming the bulk of foundation supporters of the well-intentioned election winner. Fighting them might be morally correct but politically it is wrong and suicidal. Waging a war against them results into two major odds; it's either the fighter ends up walking alone exposed without supporters under the harsh political weather or he is dragged in the mud as they are like pigs.

This agrees with a popular Yoruba saying which goes thus: "Ti enu ba je, oju ma ti", in English language, it means someone that has been bribed or has benefitted from the proceeds of stealing will surely abstain from the truth.

It hurts to be Buhari right now, I am sure this issue would have been effortlessly swept under the carpet if Magu didn't go public about the funds without contacting the Presidency.

EducationBeautiful Lady Who Graduated With Third Class Shares Her Touching Story (Photos) by uche87(op): 12:02pm On Apr 07, 2017
Since the revelation that a Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye graduated with Third Class honours from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna, more Nigerians with the same class of degree have been speaking out.

A lady identified as Atinuke who is the CEO of Gizzelles Place has discussed how she bagged her Third Class degree at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State despite starting high school as a top student.

Atinuke who is currently running a successful make-up business in Lagos has narrated her story on Instagram with the moral lesson that Third Class honours graduates deserve respect.

Senator Dino Melaye's travails have given Third Degree holders the boldness to come out, as he has turned out a very successful politician.

Read Atinuke's story below:

Pree that Honors behind that class of degree. Yea, that's 3rd class Honours, therefore ladies and gentlemen, don't pronounce 3rd class without respect.

It's 3rd class Honours! That was what I presented my parents with after 4 years of hardwork.

While some parents Will say "is that what all your mates are bringing home?" my parents knelt me down and prayed for me. Lemme take you on a quick trip to my educational background. I remember one afternoon when I ran to my mom's shop in Iyana Ipaja garage with one of my books on my hand to show her that I can now write the number 8 correctly.

Lemme not confuse you, for a long time you see, I always wrote the number 8 by putting two zeroes on top of each other though I was the best in class. My mom and the other market women laughed at my childishness. You can never know how happy I was on that day. In JSS1, I was enrolled to a girls only government school in agege. I was in JSS1p and we were 150 in my class. Yes 150. After our first term exams, my class teacher, a woman whom I had never seen before came to the class to share our report cards. She started calling positions from the 10th downwards and asking us all to clap as they identified themselves.

When she got to the first position, she called out my name. I didn't stand up because I was somewhere at the back, seated on the floor among many others whose parent couldn't afford that pako locker. When everyone pointed to me, she urged me to follow her, took me to the staff room and showed everyone her best student with a percentage of 96.6.

Don't doubt it people, it was 96.6. She got me a locker afterwards and even customised it with my name so it won't be stolen. You would understand this if you went to a government school. Later on, my parents took me to a private school. lol, those kind of private schools that you would have to stay in the area where they are located to know they existed.

I was the headgirl for 3 years (sss1-3) because my head was big. OK you know why already. On end-of-session parties, which we barely paid for, I would participate in every program on the list of activities.

All parents knew me, I was hard to miss. On one of these occasion, my mom was called out to take a picture with me as the best student in English. As she turned to leave, they called the best in maths-me, and she had to turn back. Best in chemistry, physics and biology. I remember one woman shouting to my mom as she turns to leave everytime "kuku stay there till they finish".

Oya lemme not lie, I don't know maths, just that the other students in the class were even worse than I was in maths. Lol. I wrote WAEC twice simply because my maths was cancelled the first time. I wrote jamb twice too with an aggregate of 223 and 216 respectively. Am I ya mate? clap for me jor.

Don't mind me. Fast forward to my higher education. This was when I started making bad choices. I chose the wrong course. I wanted to study medicine so bad and when I couldn't get into lag, I chose the wrong school. TASUED was a bad choice and studying biology when I couldn't get medicine was an even worse choice. Before TASUED coman withdraw the certificate they gave me, let me say TASUED is a great school.

It is in fact the premier university of education in Nigeria. Oh so you don't know? Well I told you already. Medicine was a childhood dream. I didn't realize in time that science wasn't my passion. Even if I had studied medicine, I would have failed woefully. After these four years in school, I realize I wasn't built for science. I am a talented pencil artist, a makeup artist, I sing well and I would love to learn furniture making.

Where does all this fit into science? Medicine was a mere fantasy and I let societal pressure of going to the university affect my choice. I could have gone to a technical school, a home furnishing school, an art school and instead, I chose a science course I wasn't really interested in. At this point let me educate some of us on our failed education system.

Do you know that after JSS3, we were supposed to chose between spending 3 years in technical school or spending 3 years in senior secondary school? I bet some of us don't know this. Yea, because our society has found a way to surpress technical school. I wish I knew this earlier.

I left the things I loved and ran after what people expected me to do. Money was another factor. This was in fact the main factor. I remember in 200l when I wasn't allowed to do 5 exams out of 8 in first semester and 3 out of 9 in second semester. God, I almost packed my bag to leave cos I was done.

My mother, hmmm, God bless this woman insisted I stay. I told her my CGPA has been affected and I might never recover from that blow. That maybe I needed to start all over. Over just hissed and said "Atinuke, if they give you pass, just bring it home. If they give u 3rd class, accept it greatful" Mind you, she said this in yoruba ni o her English can break windscreen.

It was her voice in my head that made me continue. People who didn't even know anything were having 2.2 and 2.1. Lol. However, my non-challance played an important roll too. Since I got that blow in 200l, I lost faith. I became unserious. I would go for test, even if I went, I won't read. I lost focus. Now when I look at some of the dullest students in my class in secondary school, I understand what king Solomon said "time and tide happened to them all.. "

The race is not for the swift or mighty, but for God who showeth mercy. Success for me isn't going to happen within the four walls of a school or within the confines of education because I am not regular, I am VVIP.

This is me and this is my real life. Don't compare your real life to someone else's online controlled content.

CrimeSee What Armed Security Men Did With Kemi Olunloyo In Port Harcourt Prison (pic) by uche87(op): 10:26am On Mar 31, 2017
Daughter of former governor of Oyo State and controversial blogger, Kemi Omololu Olunloyo was yesterday paraded in prison custody on handcuff under heavy security presence.

Another picture of Kemi Omololu Olunloyo in Port Harcourt, Rivers prison under heavy security has been published online alongside conflicting reports about her freedom.

According to the Punch, Kemi Olunloyo has been refused bail and remanded in Port Harcourt prison custody for the second time in two weeks.

This time, it was the Federal High Court in Rivers State that denied bail for the daughter of the former governor of Oyo State and remanded her in prison after a Magistrate Court had granted her bail.

However, charges against the Port Harcourt-based publisher, Samuel Walson, were dropped. Olunloyo and Walson were arrested over an alleged online defamatory publication against a frontline cleric, Pastor David Ibiyomie.

Another online news platform claim Madam KOO as she is fondly called has been granted a bail. She is expected to provide N200,000 and two sureties resident in Port Harcourt to regain her freedom while trial bordering on defamation of character continues.

Meanwhile the picture of Kemi in a green prison gown has been welcomed with mixed feelings on social media as Nigerians lament on her continued incarceration.

Below is an interesting social media post of a top commenter:

Nairaland GeneralReno Omokri Schooled On Social Medial Over Controversial Advice by uche87(op): 2:29pm On Mar 22, 2017
Some free lectures have been given to Pastor Reno Omokri - former media aide to ex President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over his advocacy for massive entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

Mr Perez Tigidam, creative director at Arden & Newton Brand Management company as well as editor at TheNerveAfrica.com has responded to a viral tweet from the account of a former presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri on the inefficacy of the regular 9-5 jobs being widely embraced by Nigerians.

Mr Perez Tigidam, a Lagosian voiced out his opinion via his Facebook page in an insightful piece titled "Pastor Reno Omokri: The Anti 9-5 and False Entrepreneurship Preachers"

Read the piece below:

I have tried my best for so many years now to remain civil on social media until Reno Omokri happened and I lost my chill.

There are times we must sincerely ask ourselves "who chill epp" just so we can protect young and vulnerable minds from the fallacy and entrapments of modern day pseudo-intellectuals and the many shallow minded entrepreneurship coaches and opportunists who are manipulating information to fatten their bank accounts. I am an entrepreneur and employer of labour, but I detest falsehood.

A few days ago, I saw a tweet that was already viral and had so many retweets from young people on (Nigerian) twitter, it simply read "A salary is a bribe they give you to abandon your dream" it irked the living day light out of me, but I tried as much as possible not to get involved in the conversations that ensued.

I looked through the thread of most of the apologists of this line of thinking and they seemed to me like people who are not collecting or have never collected a salary, neither do they even have a dream that pays the bills. I said to myself "Don't get involved in idle chatter, let them continue in their masturbatory excitement".

What worried me most was the sheer number of people who agreed to this; not so much of their number but the fact that such numbers could be that shallow minded and lack the ability to think rationally, it also reflected the shallowness and manipulative nature of the source(s) of these lines of thinking.
The conversations went on endlessly and for days, many of them used the opportunity to carry out what I'd choose to call career-shaming. They were simply career-shaming people who were in paid employment, making it seem like there was something wrong with people who have decided to build a life and career in paid employment.

My friend Chinonso Ogbogu runs entrepreneurship training programs and I remember a few weeks ago when he came visiting the office, I told him that I am an entrepreneur but I do not like people in his circles, as a matter of fact, I detest people who go about screaming entrepreneurship. I remember telling him that he should keep his message sane as it is at the moment that the day he turns manipulative, that's where our friendship ends and I hope he adheres.

You see, in situations like these, you ignore the juveniles and hope that those who are blessed with age will have the wisdom to come forward with a balanced narrative but I became convinced that wisdom isn't necessarily a conferment that comes with age as Reno Omokri yesterday tried to take advantage of the moment and tweeted the rubbish attached to this post.

It took me a long while before I summoned the courage to break the rules of engagement and responded to that tweet. I said to myself, I am an employer and I owe it to myself and my team to protect their minds from folly and fallacy. I owe my friends and family in paid employment who are shamed into quietness by words like Reno's to speak out and counter sensationalism with truth, line upon line.

The world is in the mess it is because of extremist ideologies, as mundane as a subject matter as this may seem, this line of thinking that Reno holds is an extremist leaning.

It is statements like these and that of the many entrepreneurship training charlatans that created the many shitty businesses we have all over the place, people who have no business with being in business, refusing to work because they've been made to believe that there is something wrong with paid employment. It is even affecting the psyche of those in paid employment who want to build a career out of it because their ego and sense of self esteem is badly bruised by misinformation.

The same line of thinking that has aided the duplicity of mushroom churches because we are now all ego driven and think there is something wrong with being subject to someone else's leadership and authority. We should all be entrepreneurs and pastors they think.
Reno Omokri, a professed pastor who recently left paid employment as an aide to the former president says paid employment is a waste of education.

What a wawu!

PoliticsRe: 6 Controversial Reasons Why The Senate Rejected Ibrahim Magu Today by uche87(op): 3:45pm On Mar 15, 2017
I believe replacing Magu will be a setback to the anti-corruption fight which is the utmost wish of the SINnators.
Politics6 Controversial Reasons Why The Senate Rejected Ibrahim Magu Today by uche87(op):
The six controversial reasons why the Senate unequivocally rejected the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the EFCC has been revealed.

The Senate on Wednesday rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after he was questioned by some of the Senators for hours.

Magu who had been previously rejected by the Senate was re-nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation. He was rejected, yet again by a majority of the Senators through a vote.

Here are 6 reasons why Magu was rejected by the Senate:

1. The main reason for Magu's rejection was because of the Department of State Security (DSS) earlier letter indicating in strong terms that Magu failed the integrity test and was unfit for the office.

2. Magu couldn't get the popular votes. He was rejected by a majority of the Senators who voted against his confirmation.

3. Senate took seriously the allegation by Magu that that two reports were submitted in one day about him by the DSS. They lawmakers didn't find it funny that Magu questioned the intergrity of the security agency's report.

4. The Clerk denied claims by Magu that the Senate received two letters from the DG SSS. When asked, the clerk confirmed that he received only one letter.

5. Senators questioned and frowned at the manner the EFCC arrest and detain individuals without following stipulated laws of the land. The Senate was irked by EFCC's penchant for disobeying court orders and the many cases of human rights abuse.

6. Magu failed to appear before the Senate with his own version of the report about the DSS allegations that cleared him on the matter which made it difficult for the Senators to understand.

Nairaland General7 Simple Things You Should Stop Doing On Social Media, No 3 Is Too Important by uche87(op): 11:38am On Mar 15, 2017
Blogger, Ademidun Abimbola has moved to educate the generality of Nigerians on the safe and optimum usage of social media.

Social media platforms have the deceitful look of encouraging unlimited freedom for users which prompts them to abuse the system.

Below is a list of do's and don'ts that should guide the conduct of Nigerians on social media.

DO'S

1. Let your bio or profile be attractive. Summarize what you do in your bio, it makes it easier for fans to locate you. In other words, maximize your bio or profile.

2. Interact with your followers. Let them know your social media profile is being handled by a human not a robot.

3. Be original by creating your own posts. Do less of copy and pasting of third party posts. Let your posts reflect creativity and originality.

4. Offer great customer service. Answer questions as soon as possible and mention a follower by name in a comment to make them feel relevant.

5. You are allowed to be funny with your posts as long as no one is offended.

6. Post what your followers will like to see. Posts on your page are not about what you like, they are about what interests your followers. Tailor your posts to catch their attention.

7. Spice your posts with quality images or with short videos. Posts with images or short videos tend to attract more attention.

DON'TS

1. Ignoring comments and questions from followers is a big turn off. Also, don't delete negative comments on your page, try as much as possible to calm an angry customer.

2. Don't be on all social media platforms, pick the one that suits what you do and stick to it.

3. Don't pick fights or quarrels on social media platforms. It sends wrong signals to followers and intending followers. It gives you a bad reputation.

4.
Connecting with everyone all because they follow you is not right. Following some category of people will have a negative influence on your brand.

5. Don't use text only in your posts. Posts without images rarely attract attention.

6. Don't allow long breaks between your posts. Be regular and consistent.

7. Don't choke your followers with posts. Don't overdo it, choose the frequency of your post based on the social media platforms.

For example, it is advisable to post on Twitter up to 5 times daily as the lifespan of a tweet is short. One post per day is appropriate for Facebook and Instagram.

Nairaland GeneralS*x Scandal: 7 Quick Steps Apostle Suleman Should Take To End The Saga by uche87(op): 11:13am On Mar 11, 2017
Nigerians woke up to the rude shock of an image-tarnishing news about Apostle Johnson Suleman's alleged amorous relationship with one Canada-based Nigerian singer, Stephanie Otobo on Monday, the 6th of March, 2017 and the despicable saga has been embarrassingly protracted.

It has been a dilly-dally affair between both parties as they flood the Nigerian media space with constant press statements that have put the founder of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide at the disadvantageous receiving end.

Media consultant and journalist, OSAYIMWEN OSAHON GEORGE who boasts of an enviable wealth experience in the media sector has suggested some basic steps to peacefully silence the free-speaking, Stephanie Otobo - a 23-year old lady with virtually nothing to lose and no good image to protect.

Read the salient points as provided below:

(1) Apostle Suleman should map out subterranean plans to make peace with Stephanie Otobo before she soils the internet with more daring and hard evidences to buttress her ear-blocking allegations against him.

(2) Apostle Suleman should cut a deal with the Keyamo Chambers to end the scandalous case. Worse cases with a higher magnitude in Nigeria have been buried. Realistically, most Nigerian lawyers don't want justice, they want opportunities, fame and more money. History reminds us that it was a celebrated case of the death of a former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, James Ajibola Ige in 2001 that ushered Festus Keyamo, SAN into limelight and opulence.

(3)
Apostle Suleman should withdraw the case from the court of law except he is seeking for a ‘pyrrhic victory’. With my years of experience in journalism, I doubt if there is an option of victory for him as Miss Stephanie Otobo will provide their itinerary details as promised, more unclad pictures and videos, hotel arrangements, and the Keyamo Chambers could be right that more ladies have come forward to testify against the fiery cleric.

(4) Apostle Suleman should literally appease the 'gods' with Kola nuts.
I am not talking about idolatry here. The beleaguered man of God with branches in 16 countries should grease the palms of Stephanie Otobo adequate greenback. She is indignant and ready to cause reputational damage which will affect Apostle Suleman's career, religious empire, family and financial base. Some millions of naira, yes I mean millions will make her switch tongues like a Mountain of Fire Ministries prayer warrior.

(5) Apostle Suleman should refrain from threatening New York-based media platform, Sahara Reporters and others with law suits. A mutual agreement with Omoyele Sowore, the founder of the investigative media firm who has been at the forefront of the propagation of the scandal could be reached if possible. A man of God should be in the Church and not in courts.

(6)
Apostle Suleman should keep a low-profile for a while pending on when another controversy envelopes the Nigerian media space. Inciting statements against Ms. Otobo, religious issues, politics, targeted prophecies and others related to public affairs should be halted for now while he goes about his gospel activities within Nigeria and abroad.

(7) As a Christian, Apostle Suleman should seek the face of God through fasting and prayer. This cup should pass way; he mustn't drink from the cup. Even King David who committed adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba and successfully plotted his death returned to the presence of God for direction and restitution as stated in the Holy Bible.

In conclusion, Apostle Suleman should take a cue from how oil mogul and the Chief Executive Officer of Forte Oil Plc - Femi Otedola overturned his purported s*x scandal with the Canadian escorts named Kiran and Jyoti Matharo who were Abuja-based sisters specialized in blackmailing their wealthy male clients.

The Cable news platform exclusively reported that a deal was struck with the police to release the international passports of the ladies to allow them leave the country quietly, drop the incriminating evidence and refrain from making any reference to any s*xual engagement with the billionaire in any manner.
So what happened next? The case slipped into coma and the general public moved on to other issues.

With the resurgence of social media and blogs, the worst thing that could happen to a prominent Nigerian is to be embroiled in any impropriety. The media system is uncontrolled and unregulated thereby giving way for fake and malicious reports to thrive.

PoliticsBimbo Daramola: "l Will Resign After 2 Years In Office" - Ekiti Guber Aspirant by uche87(op): 12:35pm On Mar 10, 2017
Ekiti political warhorse, Bimbo Daramola has boasted about turning the fortunes of the South-western state around within a period of two years if voted into the office as governor of the state in 2018.

An aspirant in the forthcoming Ekiti gubernatorial election, Congressman Bimbo Daramola has declared that if he emerges as governor of Ekiti State in 2018 and can’t turn around the fortunes of his people in two years, he would resign as governor.

“In two years, if I can’t favourably turn around the fortunes of this State, I will resign”. Bimbo made this known during a hold-no-bar conversation with bloggers on Thursday, 09, 2017 in Ado Ekiti.

While responding to questions from a cross section of bloggers, the Ire born congressman said this is not a mere political talk. He said “I know that the fortunes of Ekiti State can be better than what we have now if her human resources are well utilised.

In his characteristic brilliant manner, Bimbo Daramola said gone are the days when countries rely on natural resources – oil for development. “The word now is human ware. It is no longer about soft or hardware.”

"Look at countries like Finland with a little more people than Ekiti State, look at Singapore who has no drop of oil, they are first class countries driven by people."

He said there are only few things that I cherish more than building relationship with the people. This has been the pivot of his youth centric approach to things. He pointed out repeatedly that in a special feature on the #Ekiti2018 in ThisDay newspaper, he was described as the candidate with the strongest youth reach.

A unique feature of the congressman predating his time in the National Assembly. Bimbo noted that he started purchasing JAMB/UTME forms for students in and outside Ekiti State around 1999/2000. My love for the youth can’t be denied and I hate to see people suffer.

Describing what would be an essential need of whoever becomes the next governor of Ekiti State, the NaijaGreenCard proprietor said the will power to do would top that list.

This above everything is the most essential for the next governor of Ekiti State. In his words, “gone are the days they say in Ekiti, it is one house one professor. I doubt if we can boast of that any longer”

RomanceOpinion Poll: Nigerians Fail To Believe Apostle Suleman On S*x Scandal by uche87(op): 4:35pm On Mar 09, 2017
Canadian-based Nigerian singer, Ms Stephanie Otobo has flawed the founder of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman in an opinion poll organised to determine the public acceptability of the different sides of the story relating to the chilling illicit relationship between both parties.

A poll organised by a New York-based online media platform, SaharaReporters to determine the views of the general public about the two different accounts of the alleged amorous relationship between fiery cleric, Apostle Johnson Sulemain and one Ms Stephanie Otobo has been concluded.

3,550 readers participated in the feed-back system through the Twitter page of the media body within a space of 48hrs. Ms Stephanie Otobo who claims to have gotten pregnant for the religious leader after regular s*xual encounters and also provided hard evidences of a flirty videocam chat between them amassed almost twice the vote of her counterpart on the scale of believability.

Stephanie Otobo recorded 33% while Apostle Johnson Suleman who had since denied sleeping with the 23 year old entertainer recorded just 17%. Surprisingly, 50% of the participants claim not to care about the disgraceful saga.

Otobo alongside a friend have remained incarcerated since Friday last week due to administrative bottlenecks of perfecting their bail conditions given by the court over charges of 'terrorism', defamation, blackmail and others.

Nairaland GeneralAll The Big Brother Housemates Including Big Brother Should Be Disqualified by uche87(op): 4:58pm On Mar 06, 2017
Nigerian singer and comedian, Tunde Ednut has reacted has reacted to the contentious disqualification of housemate, Kemen from the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show.

The exit of Kemen of Akwa Ibom from the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria reality show for groping his colleague, T-Boss in her sleep has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians.

Majority of the female folks have criticized Kemen whom they have described as a "pervert and a potential r*pist" for touching T-Boss inappropriately without her consent.

A prominent Nigerian celebrity, Tunde Ednut has defended Kemen's action. According to him, Kemen has been undeservedly made a scapegoat for the same act the reality show promotes.

Mr. Ednut reiterated that the entire show that promises the winner a car and a whooping sum of N25 million should be disqualified alongside Kemen.

Read his Instagram update on the Big Brother Naija drama below:

"It's funny how BIG BROTHER will be disqualifying someone for the same BULLSHIT they are promoting."

"Bullshit! That girl didn't shout or complain after she woke up and saw him. Cut me that slack Big Brother. People have done all different kind of things in that house. All of them should be disqualified plus BIG BROTHER himself. This whole game looks staged to me. The only problem now is that Kemen will have a bad name for a long time in this our country Nigeria where we can not find our President, Buhari."

CelebritiesThe Laughable Tale Of Nollywood Actress, Oge Okoye And The Stolen Innocent Dogs by uche87(op): 10:51am On Mar 05, 2017
One of the ills of social media is that it has made celebrities out of nonentities living a lie. Every seeming beautiful lady on social networks with the ‘stripper audacity and orientation of life could amass thousands of perverts as fans for no just cause.

Some of these ladies who can't even boast of a modest rented apartment in a Lagos slum can afford to snap in upscale hotels in the privileged Island area of the state and flood social media platforms with colourful pictures to oppress others. These treats are facilitated mostly by some inelegant and pot-bellied Sugar Daddies or Yahoo Bois whose pictures are concealed like contraband goods at the borders. This has led to mass envy upon emptiness.

The Nigerian social media space has recorded several cases of public figures sponsoring dubious success stories and posing with ostentatious properties they dream to acquire just hoodwink their followers. Nowadays, everybody is desperate to prove that he/she is immune to the current economic recession that has turned the opulent and flamboyant sinners into 'Born Again Christians' in terms of spending.
Fakeness is deep rooted under our black skins and social media resurgence has fertilized the intentional propagation of lies.

Taking a stroll down memory lane, in 2013, a false report emerged that singer MayD had purchased a N150 million 6 bedroom duplex at the Magodo Phase 2 area of Lagos. The lanky entertainer allowed the story play to launder his image and help upgrade his status until he was exposed.
The music Taliban, Oritsefemi was also alleged to have lied about purchasing a N200 million house around the Admiralty way in Lekki, Lagos.
Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo once claimed ownership of an exotic Porshe car after allegedly downloading the picture on the internet and sharing on her page as a testimony.

Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid rented a house in Lekki only to announce that he bought it. He was later served a quit notice by his landlord when he failed to renew his rent.
Foremost Nigerian blogger - Linda Ikeji, 36 out of desperation to cover the vacuum of her love life hurriedly shared photos of her fake Hermes Birkin bag that cost her N4.8 million just to attract the needless attention of netizens.
Laura Ikeji, a self-acclaimed blogger and fashionista also toed the part of her elder sister by posting fake products on Instagram for sale until she was busted by eagle-eyed followers.
Mercy Aigbe Gentry recently flaunted a fake Gucci bag which was admired by her fans until she was mocked by one personal shopper based in London.
She was also embroiled in a shameful saga of wearing a free cloth and refusing to give due credit to the designer who sent it to her for promotional purpose.

Nollywood filmmaker and Chief Executive Officer of Ebony Films, Seun Egbegbe was once described as a millionaire. At some point, he shared photos of his latest convertible vehicle soon after breaking up with Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu (Now Toyin Abraham). We all thought everything was perfect till he was exposed to be a habitual criminal operating under the shining sun.
Kemi Omololu Olunloyo also recently lied that her 'polished voice' is worth $6 million dollars at the Statefam Insurance, United States of America. According to her, if she loses her voice permanently, she would collect a sum of N3 billion.
I will not also forget Tonto Dikeh who shared the pictures of a pink iPhone 7 shortly after its official release and also a brand new Lexus LX 570 three weeks later which she attributed to the benevolence of her husband only to make a U-turn on her claims in the face of a rift.
On a final note, the list of the 'Lai Mohammeds' of Nigeria will be incomplete without making reference to Toke Makinwa who abandoned her marriage that was overwhelmed by wild fire to help build the homes of others. Is it not mind-boggling that the On-Air-Personality built a YouTube channel of thousands of subscribers with her assumed and untested relationship advice?

Back to the subject matter of this piece, Nollywood actress, Oge Okoye in a bid to impress her over 848,000 followers on Instagram recently engaged in a contemptible act of ‘electronic robbery’. The single mother, 36 invaded the Instagram page of an American model and reality star, Kenya Moore to steal the picture of her cute puppies. Aunty Oge who is on an extensive sabbatical or 'Buharic' leave from the film industry didn't stop at the broad daylight theft, she also swiftly organised a naming ceremony for the innocent puppies thereby changing their identities from originally King and Twirl to Rob and Rosy.

The stolen picture instantly served the needed purpose as it earned over 3,992 likes in no time and elicited interesting comments from her fans who were fooled by her fantasies. Kenya Moore who found that kind of odious act in this modern world so strange raised an alarm considering the fact that it was coming from a verified Instagram account with massive followership indicating that she is a prominent person.
Idle Nigerians looking for an avenue to offload the scathing frustrations of the cash-crunch, inflation, high-rate of unemployment and other endemic stormed the Instragram page of Aunty Oge with long whips to reprimand her. Aunty Oge instantly adopted a damage control measure by deleting the image of the stolen dog from her page but it was too late. She became a pathetic victim of the Screenshot feature on Smartphones. The micro-blogs on Instagram had already blown the story beyond control. As the Yoruba people will say, "The wind had blown and the anus of the fowl was in full public glare"

Another celebrity with an expensive life on social media was exposed. Aunty Oge was tortured with ill comments from people she could be a mother to. It was a field day for all angry Nigerians with strong intentions to channel their energies into the wrong directions. Aunt Oge couldn't bear the consequences of her actions. It was more difficult to come out clean. Offering a deceitful explanation wasn't an option, she just had to disable comments on her page and act like social media doesn't exist.

I can bet my life that even the best PR companies wouldn't have offered her a way out of the quagmire. The best option would have been to lie that her account was hacked and the person behind it published the picture of the puppies on her behalf. I am sure an insane person would never fall for that balderdash.

The efforts of the legendary attention-seekers on social media namely actor Uche Maduagwu and the controversial daughter of a former Oyo State governor, Kemi Omololu Olunloyo made the already bad case worse. The already sour and unpalatable drink was made poisonous for public consumption by these two people that made names from meddling in celebrated issues.
Kemi popularly known as Madam KOO myopically claimed Aunty Oge was being sarcastic with the act of e-robbery that must have changed the orientation of the American lady about Africans. Uche who has been rumoured to be suffering from an undisclosed degree of mental illness offered a spurious account of the 'Intellectual Property' theft by claiming he rang Aunty Oge and she actually wanted to buy the dogs but the unscrupulous seller sent her the stolen picture and she went ahead to announce the arrival of the dogs she was yet to see. Well no wonder, Tonto Dikeh warned Uche against writing about her tumultuous marriage before he would make her and Olakunle Oladunni Churchill irreconcilable with his top-notch stupidity.

Nobody born of a woman can save Aunty Oge from this disesteem as she has been caught-red-handed. The only solution is for her to endure the verbal attacks and stay off social media till the issue dies a natural death. An indelible mark has been made on her beautiful acting career in addition to the 'Other Room' hustling associated with Nollywood actresses in general. This story will die but the internet never forgets.
References will always be made to the unbecoming act by a supposed big girl that flies more than an Edo witch. This will serve as deterrent to other celebrity-wannabes and empty public figures painting false images of their despondent life on social media.

The gospel truth is that the lives of some of these so-called Nigerian celebrities might be similar to that of Nigeria as a country in terms of hopelessness. Most of these stars are Aba-made. Most of them don't really shine and several ones are living on past glory. Most of their followers don't even understand the concept of followership. There is no positive impartation on the lives of their fans so it’s a blatant case of blind followership.
The fans only serve the purpose of promoting the products of their idols when the time comes like new music alerts, movies, brand promotions, events etc. So at the end of the day, there is no substance or value and no loyalty. The same supporters will easily play the devil's advocate and also switch back like they are on a movie set.

It was on this note that former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan failed gallantly after hiring some prominent Nigerian stars to help him propagate 'Transformation Agenda' which was subdued by the slogan of 'Change' of the then opposition party - All Progressives Congress. These celebrates are the worst propagators of any meaningful message because they can't command the obedience of their followers. It’s a case of emptiness upon emptiness. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's star-studded meeting with some Nollywood personalities at the prestigious Eko Hotel during the 2015 presidential election campaign period would be added to the long list of regrets in his life as it was more ineffective that President Muhammadu Buhari's economic team.

Aunty Oge has learnt the hard way and Nigerians have started hiding the pictures of their unwanted and stray local dogs to help her overcome the temptation of electronic theft.

PoliticsSo Hilarious: Buhari To Contest As 'mayor Of London'....see Poster (photo) by uche87(op): 2:44pm On Mar 03, 2017
President Muhammadu might be considering a public position in the United Kingdom following his long distance political relationship with Nigeria.

A concerned Nigerian has designed a satirical meme to mock President Muhammadu Buhari's protracted stay in London, United Kingdom on a medical vacation.

A campaign poster expressing Buhari's interest in the public post of the 'Mayor of London' has been publicized on social media. It reads "Vote Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the Mayor of London'.

President Buhari is certainly not contesting for such a position in Europe but the picture aimed at hilarity has served its purpose of frowning at Buhari's extended stay in London despite his campaign promise of halting the spate medical tourism in Nigeria.

Medical tourism according to an October, 2016 report gulps a whooping sum of $1 billion yearly in Nigeria.

BusinessThe Unstable Value Of The Naira In The Parallel Market - Afolabi Olugbemiga Sam by uche87(op): 11:49am On Mar 03, 2017
In his article titled "Fundamentals of Nigerian Economy and the Political Economy of Foreign Currency Manipulation" Dr. Olugbemiga Afolabi has explained the embarrassing instability suffered by the greenback in exchange for the U.S dollars.

Read the insightful piece below:

Looking at the above title tells us that there are several connections between an economy or economic life of a country and foreign currency, especially the dollar in an increasing globalized world.

A country’s economy at its base represent the total package of day to day life (daily living) and how income and expenditure of individuals and groups are structured. It is a system and processes that defines the wealth and poverty of individuals and nations. Without being too simplistic, a country economic structures and processes captures the essence and existence of any given people of a particular country.

That explains why some countries would, ceteris paribus, remain backroom players and some would remain the front runner, given the competitive edge inbuilt in economic processes and systems, intra and inter states. That explains the wealth and poverty of nations, apologies to Adam Smith, Acemoglu and Robinson.

The above preamble would readily suggest to the reader that economic issues are better not to be left to the whims and caprices of the novice, nor should they be left to those who are faint-hearted to take important and hard decisions to better the lot of the generality of the people. Directly important to an economic systems and processes are institutions and structures as well the quality of individuals who are charged with managing these processes and systems.

A cursory look at those charged with managing the Nigerian economy inspires no confidence. They themselves radiates little or no confidence. At the risk of sounding unmerciful, when you have HND and BSC holders managing the size of the Nigerian economy with potential for growth, then what you are likely to have is a stunted growth and uninspiring performance, both of the managers and the economy. The institutions they head are often like them, uninspiring and under-performing. This is aside the systemic corruption that permeates individual, private and public life, including institutions, especially those charged with the economic management.

However, the problem goes beyond the managers at different levels. The fundamentals of the Nigerian economy shows it to be a buying and selling economy, or what the average trader calls buy and sell. In other words, Nigeria operates a buy and sell economy. That forms the basis of Nigerian economic life, structure and process wise.

Let me quickly explain that by structure, Nigerian economic institutions are built to buy and sell and this, successive governments and economic managers have continued to maintain and redefined to suit each successive government without fundamentally altering its nature, features and character. We have argued elsewhere and severally too, that, even though this buy and sell economic structure was instigated and built by colonial interlopers, Nigerian rulers and economic managers have not only perpetuated this structure, they have manage to even bastardized the structures to abysmal levels, especially during Jonathan era.

In concrete terms, Nigeria had always been relying on commodity products like Cocoa, Groundnut, Coal and now, crude Oil to sell at cheap prices and buy technological products at very exorbitant prices, creating a permanent unequal and unfavourable terms and balance of trade, to the near fixed disadvantage to Nigeria. These structures in clear terms are Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Nigeria and other government created financial institutions. These is not to exempt individual, group and quasi government institutions outside the government. They fall into the same category of institutions that buy and sell.

By process, we mean the orientation, attitude and manifest consciousness that permeates and pervades the individual, social and state towards the Nigerian economy. Everyone has been conditioned to think in terms of buy and sell, not to create and manufacture. This explains why everyone is selling maize, food and ‘pure water’ at the lowest economic level; establishing schools and churches/mosques, etc at the middle level; and, joining politics/selling votes, currency traders and influence peddling. Almost everyone is now a currency dealer and speculator as well MMM participant/dealer.

Thus, the buy and sell process shows why everyone sell the same goods and services on every street corner; proliferation of schools and churches/mosques; wants to join politics and crudely accumulate wealth, explains do or die politics, and every Yinka, Nnamdi and Dogo now trade in foreign currencies, otherwise known as forex (fx).

When Buhari government came to power, fx was much lower and was trading around 205 naira to a dollar. What sustained the naira then was the high price of crude oil at the international market, excessive looting resulting in excess liquidity in the system (unhinged corruption) and proliferate spending, especially on elections and vote buying.

Dollar became the medium of exchange. It was a case of postponing the evil day and/or waiting for the economic bubble to burst. However, the rental or buy and sell economic structures and process predates Jonathan administration. It has continued apace since Buhari’s government came to power, made worse by his government try and error economic policy, low crude oil price and low quality of personnel managing the economy. More alarmingly is the failure of successive government, including Buhari’s to attempt a restructuring of the Nigerian economy away from buy and sell economy to a manufacturing industrial economy. Such restructuring of the economy would involve economic and political economy thinkers and not just run of the mill NHD and BSC that currently pervades the corridors of economic decision making. Nigeria have a long way to go.

In light of the above, we argue that the recent intervention of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the forex market is not sustainable on many fronts and indications are already pointing to that. As of today (03-03-2017) the naira has started falling again (450-8 to a dollar) reversing its recent short-lived gains (see abokifx.com). Due to a combination of individual, systemic and governmental structures and process, we ask, how long will CBN continue to supply dollars to the forex market in view of volatility of oil price, foreign reserve and structure of international economic system?

At whose cost is the intervention and manipulation? What are the opportunity cost in terms of infrastructures and peoples welfare? What about inside trading and round tripping? While economic purists and Utopian academic idealists would argue that currency (fx) intervention by governmental agencies like CBN is positive as a regulator, we posit that such interventions are part of currency manipulations that we only serve as a stop gap and generally fall into same category of currency manipulations that often occurs in a buy and sell economy with no longer term benefits, except the fundamentals of the economy are changed.

PoliticsNnamdi Kanu And His Crew Don't Represent The Igbos - Igbo Broadcaster by uche87(op): 9:56am On Mar 02, 2017
The beleaguered leader of the Independent People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has attracted diverse reactions on social media following his controversial comments on Nigerians whom he referred to as 'savages and animals'.

Incarcerated Nnamdi Kanu had a field day in court yesterday after the judge struck out 6 of the 11 criminal charges leveled against him by the Federal Government.

During a brief interview outside the court in Abuja, Mr Kanu in his Jewish attire accused the Nigerian security operatives of failing to obey laid down rules and regulations. He ended by reiterating that Nigeria is filled with 'savages and animals'.

As he was led away by prison officials, he cheered up his IPOB supporters with the Biafra chant and threatened to retaliate the death of the extra-judicial killings of the Igbos reportedly perpetrated by security operatives.

His outburst and controversial utterances capable of inciting violence in the already fragile and restive polity has attracted the intellectual response of the Operations Manager at WE TV, Wazobia TV, Gochu Enwereji who happens to be an Igbo too.

An indifferent Mr. Enwereji based in Lagos took to his Facebook page to penned down the short piece below:

"My response to a post by one youth that solicited lots of heated verbal abuses based on ethnic and other appalling sentiments on the Nnamdi KANU issue - trust me it goes on in all forums in same format ... "Our mumu done do" I say:
Firstly, its youth like you guys that make me feel we have a hopeless future - why go the route of the old divide and rule generation?!!!... Nnamdi and his crew don't represent the IBO's, how many of the enlightened IBO's believe in him?!!!, secondly, a vegetarian has no business selling me meat - he and his family are not based in Nigeria and have UK passports, so how does he claim to fight for me from out there- how would he feel my sufferings from out there ... Thirdly no proud IBO man would claim to be a second class citizen of any other country, not even Israelis who are mostly racist this days ... When he was arrested, he called himself a UK citizen in other to seek help, now they are Jews ?!!! ... Truly a confused lot who should all be tried for treason ... Ask these people routing for him, what he has ever done or achieved for the IBO race and in the Eastern part or Nigeria - dude is just looking for cheap money, power and fame, and he's lost on all counts ... He should start by building up the east, then we would listen to his talk about a Biafran el Dorado ... Back to you Lanre, am IBO but I believe in Nigeria as a collective entity and so am very detribalized - its so barbaric to generalize any ethnicity in Nigeria, cos we have the good, bad n ugly in all of them ... Instead of coming together to fight our common enemy who don't think tribe, religion or class, when they are sharing our collective wealth among themselves, we keep playing into their hands by fanning the embers of their divide and rule strategies !!! ... Like Charly Boy said, ' our mumu done do' !!!..."
