Guys.it has become a habit here that whenever any violence occurs, people start to attack islam...please I beg you all to please leave islam alone. Islam doesn't support violence in any form..no religion does...violence is something both christians and muslims should condemn...the issue of boko haram to me is complicated..nobody here truly knows what they are fighting for or who their sponsors are..all we hear are assumptions...I have to admit that christians have suffered major casualty but we have to admit that even muslims have also been part of the casualties too....islam totally condems violence..infact, taking your own life is a very good way of attaining hellfire as your abode not to talk of taking another's life according to islam...please guys(non-muslims), please consider this when some attacks happen and the terrorists claim they are muslims fighting for Allah..Allah dnt ask anybody to commit murder or any terrorist act for Him...if some1 does, there is a possibility he is trying to cause a religious war in 9ja or he simply doesn't understand what islam says about war. Its obvious there are some verses in the quran, that ask muslims to fight or kill the non-believers but when quoting such verses, its advisable to read few verses befor and after to know the context...try hard to know if islam actually teaches violence..if possible, go to a muslim scholar or a muslim and ask about such verses. Don't just pick a verse that suit your motives and attack islam..thank you All...may Allah (swt) bring peace to Nigeria.ameen..pls let's all continue to pray for 9ja

ovo4u: I heard it depends on which way they die for Allah, if you get killed by JTF without successful bombing, you ain't entitle to get the complete 72 virgins, rather 14 from the age of 10-16yrs but if you complete the mission well like it was stated in the Quran from muhammed, then you are entiltle to get your complete 72 virgins ranging from 9- 65yrs. grin grin grin grin grin

This people mumu is undescribeable wink wink wink
Please be reasonable here. Your hate for islam shouldn't cloud your sense of reasoning. I have always been asking for those talking about 72 virgins in islam to bring proof from the quran. Am sick and tired of this statement. You don't just jump up and say muhammad(pbuh) said dis, quran said dat without pointn out the verse. You even went ahead analysing the types of virgins. POC: the holy quran isn't from muhammad(pbuh) but from Allah (swt). Pls let's be mature and responsible in our comments..I can't just jump out and say so so so was said in so so book without proof..it becomes more offensive when its false

I know one thing for sure ; Any Christian who kill, fight, kill in the name of self defense or for any imaginable or unimaginable reason, lack knowledge of the doctrines of Jesus. The Jesus whom the Christians follow said that they should love their enemies, pray for those who despitefully use them, bless those who curse them,do good to those who wrong them and also turn the other side of their cheek for a second slap para venture they are been slapped by anyone(keep ur cool wen you are been offended) ! So if you claim you follow Christ, then any contradictory acts to these points here, then it simply means you are not a christian or u lack understanding of the teachings of Christ-which is very very clear that needs no interpretation.
The Roman empire,Germans, Persians, Ethiopians; even the Oyo empire if they all killed to gain dominance or retain power, should not be likened to religion except if that religion they practice approves of it.
If Boko Haram today continue with all these acts of theirs and claim that they are doing it for allah, why blame them when it is clearly written and there instructions given to them according to the dictates of their book-quran?
See their motivation below

God help us
First of all, may Allah show you the light and forgive you your sins. Its gud to be knowledgeable but when the knowledge is halved, it becomes a serious issue which am afraid its your case here.I want to assure you
that we Muslims do not hate non-
Muslims, be they Christians, Jews, Hindus,
Buddhist or followers of any religion or no
religion. Our religions does not allow killing
any innocent person regardless of his or her
religion. The life of all human beings is
sacrosanct according to the teachings of the
Qur’an and the guidance of our blessed
Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him and
upon all the Prophets and Messengers of
Allah.
The Qur’an says about the prohibition of
murder:
ﻭﻻ ﺗﻘﺘﻠﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻨﻔﺲ ﺍﻟﺘﻲ ﺣﺮﻡ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺇﻻ ﺑﺎﻟﺤﻖ ﺫﻟﻜﻢ ﻭﺻﺎﻛﻢ
ﺑﻪ ﻟﻌﻠﻜﻢ ﺗﻌﻘﻠﻮﻥ
“..Take not life, which Allah hath made
sacred, except by way of justice and
law: thus does He command you, that ye
may learn wisdom.” (al-An’am 6:151)
and Allah says in the Qur’an:
ﻭﻻ ﺗﻘﺘﻠﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻨﻔﺲ ﺍﻟﺘﻲ ﺣﺮﻡ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺇﻻ ﺑﺎﻟﺤﻖ ﻭﻣﻦ ﻗﺘﻞ
ﻣﻈﻠﻮﻣﺎ ﻓﻘﺪ ﺟﻌﻠﻨﺎ ﻟﻮﻟﻴﻪ ﺳﻠﻄﺎﻧﺎ ﻓﻼ ﻳﺴﺮﻑ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻘﺘﻞ ﺇﻧﻪ
ﻛﺎﻥ ﻣﻨﺼﻮﺭﺍ
“Nor take life – which Allah has made
sacred – except for just cause. And if
anyone is slain wrongfully, We have
given his heir authority (to demand
Qisas or to forgive): but let him not
exceed bounds in the matter of taking
life; for he is helped (by the law)” (al-
Isra’ 17:33)
According to the Qur’an, killing any person
without a just cause is as big a sin as killing
the whole humanity and saving the life of
one person is as good deed as saving the
whole humanity. (See al-Ma’idah 5:32)
However, your question is valid then how
come the Qur’an says:
“kill them wherever you find them…”as it is
mentioned in Surah al-Baqarah 2:191 and
Surah al-Nisa’ 4:89. The answer is simple and
that is you should read these verses in their
textual and historical context. You should
read the whole verse and it is better that you
read few verses before and few after. Read
the full text and see what is said:
ﻭﻗﺎﺗﻠﻮﺍ ﻓﻲ ﺳﺒﻴﻞ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺍﻟﺬﻳﻦ ﻳﻘﺎﺗﻠﻮﻧﻜﻢ ﻭﻻ ﺗﻌﺘﺪﻭﺍ ﺇﻥ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ

ﻓﺎﻋﺘﺪﻭﺍ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﺑﻤﺜﻞ ﻣﺎ ﺍﻋﺘﺪﻯ ﻋﻠﻴﻜﻢ ﻭﺍﺗﻘﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻭﺍﻋﻠﻤﻮﺍ
ﺃﻥ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻣﻊ ﺍﻟﻤﺘﻘﻴﻦ
“Fight in the cause of Allah those who
fight you, but do not transgress limits;
for Allah loves not transgressors. And
kill them wherever ye catch them, and
turn them out from where they have
turned you out; for tumult and
oppression are worse than slaughter;
but fight them not at the Sacred
Mosque, unless they (first) fight you
there; but if they fight you, kill them.
Such is the reward of those who reject
faith. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-
Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight
them on until there is no more tumult or
oppression, and there prevail justice
and faith in Allah; but if they cease, let
there be no hostility except to those
who practice oppression. The prohibited
month, for the prohibited month, and so
for all things prohibited, there is the law
of equality. If then any one transgresses
the prohibition against you, transgress
ye likewise against him. But fear Allah,
and know that Allah is with those who
restrain themselves.” (al-Baqarah
2:190-194
Allah (swt) also said :
“They but wish that ye should reject
Faith, as they do, and thus be on the
same footing (as they): so take not
friends from their ranks until they flee
in the way of Allah (from what is
forbidden). But if they turn renegades,
seize them and slay them wherever ye
find them; and (in any case) take no
friends or helpers from their ranks.
Except those who join a group between
whom and you there is a treaty (Of
peace), or those who approach you with
hearts restraining them from fighting
you as well as fighting their own people.
If Allah had pleased, He could have
given them power over you, and they
would have fought you: therefore if they
withdraw from you but fight you not,
and (instead) send you (guarantees of)
peace, then Allah hath opened no way
for you (to war against them). Others
you will find that wish to gain your
confidence as well as that of their
people: every time they are sent back to
temptation, they succumb thereto; if
they withdraw not from you nor give
you (guarantees) of peace besides
restraining their hands, seize them and
slay them wherever ye get them; in their
case We have provided you with a clear
argument against them. (Al-Nisa’
4:89-91)
Now tell me honestly, do these verses give a
free permission to kill any one any where?
These verses were revealed by Allah to
Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allah Ta’ala Alaihi
Wa Salam) at the time when Muslims were
attacked by the non-Muslims of Makkah on a
regular basis. They were frightening the
Muslim community of Madinah. One may say
using the contemporary jargon that there
were constant terrorist attacks on Madinah
and in this situation Muslims were given
permission to fight back the “terrorist”.
These verses are not a permission for
“terrorism” but they are a warning against
the “terrorists.” But even in these warnings
you can see how much restraint and care is
emphasized.
It is important that we study the religious
texts in their proper context. When these
texts are not read in their proper textual and
historical contexts they are manipulated and
distorted. It is true that some Muslims
manipulate these verses for their own goals.
But this is not only with Islamic texts, it is
also true with the texts of other religions. I
can quote dozens of verses from the Bible
which seem very violent, if taken out from
their historical context. These Biblical texts
have been used by many violent Jewish and
Christian groups. Crusaders used them
against Muslims and Jews. Nazis used them
against Jews. Recently Serbian Christians
used them against Bosnian Muslims. Zionists
are using them regularly against
Palestinians.
Let me mention just a few verses from the
Old Testament and New Testament and tell
me what do you say about them:
“When the LORD your God brings you
into the land where you are entering to
possess it, and clears away many
nations before you, the Hittites and the
Girgashites and the Amorites and the
Canaanites and the Perizzites and the
Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations
greater and stronger than you. And
when the LORD your God delivers them
before you and you defeat them, then
you shall utterly destroy them. You shall
make no covenant with them and show
no favor to them. (Deutronomy 7:1-2)
“When you approach a city to fight
against it, you shall offer it terms of
peace. If it agrees to make peace with
you and opens to you, then all the
people who are found in it shall become
your forced labor and shall serve you.
However, if it does not make peace with
you, but makes war against you, then
you shall besiege it. When the LORD
your God gives it into your hand, you
shall strike all the men in it with the
edge of the sword. Only the women and
the children and the animals and all that
is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take
as booty for yourself; and you shall use
the spoil of your enemies which the
LORD your God has given you… Only in
the cities of these peoples that the
LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance, you shall not leave alive
anything that breathes (Deutronomy
20:10-17)
Now therefore, kill every male among
the little ones, and kill every woman
who has known man intimately. But all
the girls who have not known man
intimately, sparefor yourselves.
(Numbers 31:17-18)
Even in the New Testament we read the
following statement attributed to Jesus
saying to his disciples:
“I tell you that to everyone who has,
more shall be given, but from the one
who does not have, even what he does
have shall be taken away. But these
enemies of mine, who did not want me
to reign over them, bring them here and
slay them in my presence. (Luke
19:26-27)
So you see my dear brother, you don't just pick up a text from the quran and attack the muslims with it out of context. Please learn more about a religion before you go asking google for verses of war in the quran. May Allah guide you to the right path. Ameen

It really amazes me how Islam wld want to fetch out inconsistency in the bible for christ sake islam originated more than 600yrs after christ if d words in d bible were nt true then how come most of it founnd its way to d koran am a historian nd can give u clear cut details abt all dis d way islam speaks of christianity nw d prophet of islam Mohammed wld never ve done dat in his time cos he knws d truth also. 4.4. prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the old testament:
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by
name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5
verse 16:
"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim
Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem."
"His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is
altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and
this is my friend, O daughters
of Jerusalem."
In the Hebrew language im is added for
respect. Similarely im is added after the
name of Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English
translation they have even translated the
name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as
"altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament
in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) is yet present.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the New
Testament:
All the prophecies mentioned in the Old
Testament regarding Muhammad (pbuh)
besides applying to the Jews also hold good
for the Christians.
1. John chapter 14 verse 16:
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give
you another Comforter, that he may abide
with you forever."
2. Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:
"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the
Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."
3. Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7: "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go
not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".
"Ahmed" or "Muhammad" meaning "the one
who praises" or "the praised one" is almost
the translation of the
Greek word Periclytos. In the Gospel of John
14:16, 15:26, and 16:7. The word 'Comforter'
is used in the English translation for the
Greek word Paracletos which means
advocate or a kind friend rather than a
comforter.
Paracletos is the warped reading for
Periclytos. Jesus (pbuh) actually prophesised
Ahmed by name. Even the
Greek word Paraclete refers to the Prophet
(pbuh) who is a mercy for all creatures.
Some Christians say that the Comforter
mentioned in these prophecies refers to the
Holy Sprit. They fail to realise
that the prophecy clearly says that only if
Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter
come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth
before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh),
in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when
Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc. Hence
this prophecy refers to none other than
Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh).

3.The Children of Abraham
According to the Bible, God made a promise
to Abraham about his descendants: I will
establish my covenant as an everlasting
covenant between me and you and your
descendants after you for the generations to
come, to be your God and the God of your
descendants after you.[Genesis 17:7]
In this verse we see God promising Abraham
that He will have a covenant with his
descendants. This covenant was fulfilled by
God by sending Prophets from the
descendants of Isaac to the Jews (e.g Daniel,
Jacob, Jesus etc.). But the promise that was
made to Abraham by God was to all of his
descendants, so it makes sense that Prophets
would also be sent from the descendants of
Abraham’s other son Ishmael.
In the Old Testament, God singled out the
descendants of Ishmael (the Arabs) for a
particular blessing: And as for Ishmael, I
have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will
make him fruitful and will greatly increase
his numbers. He will be the father of twelve
rulers, and I will make him into a great
nation. [Genesis 17:20]
According to the verse above, God tells
Abraham about a ‘Great Nation’ to come from
Ishmael. This is another reason why God
would send Prophets amongst the Arabs, how
could God call a nation great if they were to
be unbelievers? Their greatness is defined by
their belief and obedience to God. We see
that Muhammad (pbuh) fits the description
of a Prophet from the descendants of
Ishmael, who called people back to the
religion of Abraham.
Muhammad (pbuh) did indeed come from
that nation of rulers mentioned in Genesis
17:20. The book of Genesis tells us that
Abraham left his wife (Hagar) and Ishmael to
settle in ‘Paran’ (Genesis 21:21), which
according to historians is in Arabia. Ishmael
grew up and settled in Arabia and had twelve
sons one of whom was called
‘Kedar’ (Genesis 25:13). Isaiah 21:13-17
confirms that the descendants of Kedar were
in Arabia. It is well known that Muhammad
(pbuh) was a direct descendant of Kedar.
In the Davis Dictionary of the Bible it is
stated that Kedar is ‘…A tribe descended
from Ishmael … The people of Kedar were
Pliny’s Cedrai, and from their tribe
Mohammed ultimately arose’[2]. There were
Jewish tribes in Medina (the city that the
Muhammad (pbuh) migrated to) who had
settled there because they were awaiting the
arrival of a Prophet. In fact, Ben Shalom the
Chief Rabbi of Medina embraced Muhammad
(pbuh) as the Prophet whose arrival was
foretold in their scriptures.
Now let’s look at some interesting verses
from Isaiah 42 about a messenger from
Arabia.
The Messenger from Arabia
The Old Testament prophesises the coming
of a Prophet from Arabia who would be from
the descendants of Kedar. The verses of
Isaiah 42 describe the coming of a Prophet
who God refers to as ‘my Messenger’ (Isaiah
42:19). This Messenger would be from ‘the
villages that Kedar inhabits’ (Isaiah 42:11),
which means that the Messenger would
emerge from Arabia since that’s where the
villages of the descendants of Kedar lived
according to Isaiah 21:13-17. This Messenger
would give ‘judgment’, ‘light’ and ‘Law’ to
the ‘Gentiles’ (Isaiah 42:1-4). Gentiles is a
term referring to the non-Jews. This
Messenger would be a ‘man of war’ who will
first be persecuted and then will fight and
defeat idol worshippers (Isaiah 42:13-17).
This description fits Muhammad (pbuh)
exactly. Muhammad (pbuh) emerged from
Arabia and was a direct descendant of Kedar,
he was persecuted by and then fought and
defeated the idol worshippers [3]. He bought
about ‘judgment’ and ‘law’ to a lawless Arab
people (Arabs would be classed as ‘Gentiles’)
when he became the ruler of the Arabian
Peninsula.
IslamMuhammad (PBUH) In The Bible. by udatso(op): 9:41am On Mar 22, 2013
Am sure so many of you have been asked by christians that if muhammad(PBUH) was such a great prophet, why is he not mentioned in the bible. Well my brothers and sisters in islam, here are some good replies for them.
The idea that the Bible contains prophecies
about the coming of Muhammad (peace be
upon him), may surprise many people. It isn’t difficult to understand why, since the general perception people have of the Muhammad (pbuh) is that of a man with no connection to Biblical Prophets or prophecies.
However, taking a closer look at
Muhammad’s (pbuh) life, it becomes clear
that he upheld the basic tenets that the
Biblical Prophets came with, and led millions to do the same. Indeed it was because of the
teachings of Muhammad (pbuh) that billions
of Muslims since his time up until today have revered the persons of Jesus, Moses and Abraham (peace be upon them all).

Let us now consider the Ol and New Testament contain numerous
verses which describe the coming of a new
Prophet. Additionally, verses from the Bible
itself will clearly show us tha Muhammad
(pbuh) is that Prophet.
1.John and the Priests
In the Chapter of John, some Jewish priests
quizzed John the Baptist about three people
who they were informed about in their
scriptures. They asked him:
“Who are you?”
John confessed (he didn’t deny but
confessed), “I’m not the Christ.”
They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you
Elijah?”
John said, “I’m not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”
John answered, “No.” [John 1:19-21]
So they then asked him, “Why do you
baptize if you aren’t the Christ, nor Elijah,
nor the Prophet?” [John 1:25]
The priests were expecting three people as
prophesied by their books, so they asked
about Christ, Elijah and ‘the Prophet’. So who
is ‘the Prophet’ they are referring to here?
This cannot be a reference to Jesus as he is
the Christ.
Looking at a copy of the Bible with cross-
referencing, we find that the words ‘the
Prophet’ which occur in John 1:25 refer to the
prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:18 in the Old
Testament, which also mentions a
forthcoming Prophet.
According to Deuteronomy 18:18 God speaks
to the Prophet Moses and tells him that he
will raise up a new Prophet who has certain
clearly identifiable characteristics: I will raise
up for them a Prophet like you from among
their brethren, and will put My words in His
mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I
command Him. And it shall be that whoever
will not hear My words, which He speaks in
My name, I will require it of him.
[Deuteronomy 18:18-19]
In this prophecy God is telling Moses that he
will raise a Prophet like him, who will be from
‘among their brethren’. Since these verses
are directed to Moses and the Jewish People,
the ‘brethren’ mentioned here are the
brethren of the Jewish people.
Now Abraham, the forefather of the Jewish
nation had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac
(Genesis 21). The children of Isaac are the
cousins of the children of the Ishmael. The
children of Isaac are the Jews and the
children of Ishmael are the Arabs.
‘Brethren’ in the language of the Old
Testament can refer to the Jews themselves
(Numbers 32:6), or to the ancestral cousins
of the Jews such as the Arabs, Edomites and
others (see Deuteronomy 2:4,8 for usage of
the word ‘brethren’). So the Arabs are
considered the brethren of the Jews.
2.Muhammad and Moses
Some people may claim that Jesus is the new
Prophet being referred to in Deuteronomy
18:18. However ‘the Prophet’ mentioned in
John 1:25 can’t be Jesus because he is
described as a separate person to ‘the
Christ’. In addition to this, the verse informs
us that the Prophet will have the
characteristic of being someone who is ‘like’
Moses. Jesus was very different to Moses, but what about Muhammad (pbuh)?
The table below compares the lives of
the three men (peace be upon them all):

There is no doubt that Moses and
Muhammad (pbuh) are very similar. Many
historians who have studied the lives of
Moses and Muhammad (pbuh) have
remarked upon the many similarities
between them. The late Reverend James L.
Dow (1908-1977) who authored the Collins
Gem Dictionary of the Bible wrote under the
entry of ‘Moses’:
‘’The only man in history who can be
compared even remotely to him is
Mohammed.’’[1]
All of the evidence so far shows conclusively
that Muhammad (pbuh) is the Prophet
mentioned in John 1:25.
There are still many people who reject
Muhammad (pbuh) purely because he was
not Jewish (i.e not from the Children of Isaac)
But we know that Prophets such as Noah,
who are also mentioned in the Bible, weren’t
Jewish either.

ckkris: Christianity emanates from Jesus, and if you evaluate Him from the opening lines of Genesis to Revelations, you will see Him. And you'll likely like Him.
And there's no way you can begin to compare yourself with Abraham, or Moses, whose records has stood the testh of 3500 years.
It seems you don't get the islamic point of view.....islam teaches us to love him, respect him but we never consider him God. Just want to ask this out of curiosity, you are free to ignore it if you are not comfortable with it. How did these 2 words "bible" and "christianity" originate? Are they in the scriptures?

According to him, you need to be guided by the holy spirit. By that theory, no one can bring any fault in christianity as a whole, really like that approach. Nxt time someone asks me questions about the quran that I can't explain, I jst tell him he needs spiritual guidance to understand the book of God

This is serious.....somebody said 1+1=5 and another said 1+1=2. I don't know what spriitual. Guidiance would make them equal.its very simple as ABC. I have heard this comment from many christians especially after they find certain contradicory places in the bible they can't explain. I am beginning to think its not a coincidence. God is not a God of confussion. A is not B and B is not A. What sprirual guidance do you need to comprehend this simple fact?

ckkris: Now I can really shout HALLELUJAH !

The Israelites read their precious Holy Tanakh, and see a world-conquering MESSIAH/KING. These Jews are inspired to be creative, inventing things and ideas that rule the world, even today.
I read the Holy Bible and see THE MESSIAH, from the opening lines of Genesis, through every page, to the last verse of Revelation. More than 20 years ago, especially through the revealed WORD of the Holy Bible, THE MESSIAH has healed my spirit, soul, and body, with a gentle LOVE that conquered my natural rebelion, just as He has conquered hundreds of millions of people all over the world, in every land and clime.
You also reead the same Holy Bible, and say its 'confusing', and its understandable. In John 9:38-41, Jesus cautioned against this condjtion, and left it open to personal CHOICE.
Jesus has indeed conquered, far more the Jews anticipate, but not by physical sword, but with the kind of LOVE the Greeks define as AGAPE.
I hope Ido not add to your confusion, because, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I would have be happy if you didn't talk about my confussion.
Well, I wdnt have been confused, if these verses were not opposing each other or the unfulfilled prophecy, I wouldn't have bn confused. Am sure anybody would understand why someone is confused with all the evidences. If a there was a party somwhere and mr A tells me that in the party there were lots of beer and mr B tells me there was no bear. There is a possibility, both are wrong, or one of them is wrong but both can't be right. And as you can c, this is a confussion but when this type occurs in the book of God,.......I reserve my comment. Tnx for ur time
