TravelRe: Is It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by Udode(op): 1:10pm On Sep 15, 2009
stop insulting each other, `what is that for.
I asked a simple question, hoping to recieve a simple answer, what you think of others is not really what i wanted to know.

anyhow, i think i will not be going to nija this xmas, i have talked to my husband again and he reassured me that he does not want to take the risk. i can accept that, he must know better and from what i heard from some of you, his opinion is not just out of the blue,

i am just reallly reallly really hoping that things will get better very sooon, i wanted to bring my mother to nigeria so she can see the places and the family, but if the country is insecure like it is right now, i dont think i will feel good to bring her over, !!!!
TravelRe: Is It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by Udode(op): 7:34am On Sep 15, 2009
hi everyone

thank you for you replies. Some of you have asked where i plan to go, well I will fly to port harcourt, travel to aba first and than go to usofia. I also wanted to go and see akwa, since i am founding a foundation to help and send kids to school, but it looks like i will have to postpone that all, it is really a pitty and i hope that the government will do something about it!!! At least I am planing to live in nigeria one day,

pls dont think that i have started this thread so people can complain about how bad nigeria is, i couldnt do it. I love the country, the people, the food the music and everything about it, so no mather what people say about nigeria or nigerians,, i have my own opinion. I really just wanted to hear about other people's experiences to help me make up my mind.

@k2
thanx for your advise, but
i am not going with my husband for controll!!!!!!! i know who i have and even if he goes alone, so what, he has been to naija this summer for 7 weeks without me, that is not the issue, it is just that i want to go too, i love the country and i love the people and i have heard sooo many good things about xmas in nigeria, and yes of course i could stay in lagos throughout, but where is the fun without the family and the palmwine in the village!!!
TravelRe: Is It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by Udode(op): 2:06pm On Sep 14, 2009
I have been to nigeria this spring (march) and I really loved it. But i have to say that the uncle of my husband had been kidnapped that time and only got released after they payed a big amount of money. So i know that kidnapping is there. And I have to admit that it was not much fun being afraid all the time.

I am just angry because i think that these kidnapping issues will not have an end soon, which means that i will not be able to travel to nigeria?!? NO iw ill def. not accept that,

I know i have to be careful (i hardly went out on the streets this summer and i was always accompanied by several people. But these people are telling my husband that things have got worse, which makes him and myself very unsure!
TravelIs It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by Udode(op): 10:43am On Sep 14, 2009
Hi Everyone

I have really been looking forward to go to nigeria on christmas and to enjoy my stay in the village of my husband.
But lately he is not so sure if he should take me along agian, since there has been a lot of kidnapping and he does not want to risk anything.
I am really upset and I would be very sad if I couldnt go to enjoy chirstmas in nigeria just because of some crazy kidnappers.

What do you think, is it really too dangerous for a white woman to go to anambra state (flying to port harcourt) these days or do you think that what we hear over here in europe is exagerated?

Thank you for your reply, I am curious to see what you say,

CultureRe: Have You Ever Lied About Your Age? by Udode(f): 1:45pm On May 11, 2009
I used too, because I always looked older than my age,
the funny thing, all my friends are (still today) older than me,
and my bf lied about his age at the beginning and as i know now he is 11 years older,

in the end, it doesn't make, age is just a number !

PoliticsRe: Nigeria On The Verge Of Becoming Another Columbia by Udode(f): 4:24pm On May 04, 2009
from what i experienced, i was there one week ago -
one family member got kidnapped, most rich people have gun patrols around their houses already
i must say that the kidnapping issue was omnipresent.

I didnt expect that, but it is very sad to see such things,,it destroys the economy to a veeery serious point!

grin

I am sure you would have known, since it is not in peaces, so if you eat bat you see the head of the bat, and if you eat the bushrat you see the head and the tail of that too :-) lol
unless you eat it in the dark :-)
TravelRe: Leaving For Nigeria In 3 Weeks: What Do I Need To Know? by Udode(op): 2:40pm On Apr 27, 2009
oh thnx, people that have prejudices like you mentioned, i am not sure if my experience will help, because those people have either never been to nigeria before or they must be very ignorant of other culutres and habits,

yes i have tried bat and other bushmeat (something like a rat too, ) lol
because i think you can never say that you like or dont like something unless you try it!
TravelRe: Leaving For Nigeria In 3 Weeks: What Do I Need To Know? by Udode(op): 12:53pm On Apr 27, 2009
guess who's back

wow what an exciting trip, i had such a wonderful time,
i dont even know where to start

-the food (delicious) omg i ate nice soups and fresh fruit and and and, anything was just delicious, except for the usu (sorry i dont know how to spell this in igbo - its bat), i didnt like that one sooo much, but it was ok
- the people were just amazing. wherever i went, all the kids and all the people looked at me, oyibo here, oniocha there, it was unbelievably nice and the people where so open and welcoming, nno everywhere, we (white people) could really learn something from these people
- the house(s) - lol a real adventure, as i didnt stay in a hotel i could experience real nigerian life, as well in lagos as in the village i have stayed with the family, which was wonderful. these people are so close together, anything you do you do it as a family, you cook, you eat, you drink, just amazing. something we dont usually do here in europe. I enjoyed listening to radio 90.90 at night, taking a cold shower outside the house while looking at the stars, eating fresh mangos every day, drinking gulder and palmwine :-)
- the language, wow igbo is really hard, especially the pronunciation. but at least i could manage some words and i was never ashamed to reply ntakere ntakeri if someone asked me if i speak igbo, it always made them laugh, and me too of course
- highlits i would say was the trip from aba to lagos by bus (the engine broke down after 2 hours) and we had to wait for 3 hours in the hot sun before we could manage to get a lift, it was very an exciting day and after 13 hours of travelling i finnally got to bed, another highlight was a wedding, and a traditional zeremonie of one guy in the village who became a red cap member :-)

Summary: I am already planning to go again over christmas, i just loooooved it!!!

RomanceRe: Is Loving Selfish Or Selfless? by Udode(f): 12:33pm On Apr 02, 2009
Selfish of course, and if there is only a little bit of selflessness in it - than that is also selfish - because the only reason the selflessness is there is because one wants the selflesness to grow fruits!

Hey, nice Idea!!!

I have worked on a radio station before, why not try to make a cooperation with a world wide radio station, for example radio energy (nrj) = www.nrj.com

They play the finest music and do have a lot of experience you could profit from!
