MDM2021: So, how many candidates contested with OBJ then? Can we now have the contest left alone for an "Obasanjo" and an "Ekwueme" so that that Obasanjo can receive the greatest defeat of his life? Let the same scenario of 1998/9 be re-enacted. |
Politics › Re: 2023: Concede Presidency To South-east, Says Sen. Umeh by Udopasa(op): 11:56am On May 09, 2022 |
MDM2021: No contest was left alone for the SW in 1999 if you are not being untruthful to yourself. AD was a party formed in the West by the Yorubas the same way APGA was formed by the Ibos in the East. AD only formed alliance with APP at the presidential level and APGA is not being stopped from doing same. For PDP, a primary election was conducted before OBJ won. Besides, have you gotten an "MKO" like the SW got before 1999 elections? You'd better chosen the path of humility to gain the heart of the Yorubas by doing what you're supposed to do rather than this flagrant display of arrogance and blackmail. Humility and Pride are like Light and Darkness. . The argument isn't coming from the point of pride or demand. Rather, from that of equity, justice and fairness. I'm sure you know that the Abiola saga and the need to compensate the ill done to the South West informed the emergence of Obasanjo in that primaries in a party that Ekwueme almost single handedly founded. If Nigeria stakeholders could rally round the South West to assuage their ill feelings and heal their wounds. Can't we also rally round the South East to give us a sense of belonging and justice? |
Politics › Re: 2023: Concede Presidency To South-east, Says Sen. Umeh by Udopasa(op): 11:51am On May 09, 2022 |
MDM2021: Did Ekwueme step down for Obasanjo or contest with him in the primary? So, equity to you is to demand with pride from a people what you can never give those people? So that you can continue to boast of having a "manipulating sense" pass them right? That's an insult. There's no equity in arrogance and sense of manipulation. Do you in all honesty think that Obasanjo stood any chance if that contest was left for him and Ekwueme? |
Politics › Re: 2023: Concede Presidency To South-east, Says Sen. Umeh by Udopasa(op): 10:17pm On May 07, 2022 |
MDM2021: Exactly. Ibo candidates are allowed to context in the primaries the way other candidates contested with OBJ then. APGA can form an alliance with another party like SDP or PDP for another Ibo candidate to contest the way AD formed an alliance with APP at the presidential level at that time that led to the candidacy of Olu Falae. Weak, lazy, slimmy Yorubas, as they are often taunted, cannot be a threat to the MIGHTY and GREAT Ibos. we do not consider the Yorubas as a threat. We only demand that in the demand for rotation, equity must be of top most priority. |

bjdon: Yes it was for the south. Obasanjo had to work hard to defeat Ekume for the PDP ticket. Obasanjo didn't do any work. If the contest was left for only Obasanjo and Late Ekwueme, Obasanjo would have received the greatest defeat of his life. |
Politics › Re: 2023: Concede Presidency To South-east, Says Sen. Umeh by Udopasa(op): 10:14pm On May 07, 2022 |
MDM2021: Then contest. If it's not by contest, then it's not an election. The contest should be left for South Easterners just like that of 1998/9 in line with equity and justice. |

Politics › Re: Anambra Central 2023: Uzuegbunam Okagbue Gets Apga Backing To Dislodge Umeh by Udopasa: 9:38am On Apr 03, 2022 |
Newsline09: “The Senate Chambers is not a retirement ground for worn out politicians or old peoples home of some sort”.
Earlier last month, APGA faithfuls, and critical stakeholders of Anambra Central Senatorial District trooped the hometown of Chief Uzuegbunam Okagbue, the immediate past Chief of Protocol to former Governor Willie Obiano, where he declared his interest to fly the APGA party flag and contest for the Senatorial seat of the District in the 2023 General elections.
The forty four years old Uzuegbunam amongst other things declared that he is not just ready to close the gap of poor Representation in the Senatorial District, but eminently qualified, Educated and experienced too, to attract development and progress to Anambra Central through robust engagement at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly.
Uzuegbunam decried the poor state of Representation in the zone and the inability of the APGA party to win and sustain the Senate seat of Anambra Central. He asked the party to trust him with the mandate albeit, not without a contest; he will not only win the election squarely, in a free and fair contest, but facilitate dividends of Democracy to the doorstep of every constituent regardless of political party affiliation.
He highlighted his vision and ideas which he described as a pact with the people of Anambra Central.
The former Banker, Business development expert and Strategist, said his experience both at the corporate and public sector where he managed people with different ideas, thought process and cultural background, will be an added advantage at the National Assembly.
“The world today is driven by Technology and information, gone are the days where Senate Representation will be all about constituency projects alone and distribution of peanuts; if given the opportunity to serve, we will seek both foreign and local partnerships with recognized brands and institution, to train our young people in various Tech sector and skills that are in demand globally and facilitate funding and scholarships for our Tech savvy and talented ones amongst many”.
He asserted that the Senate seat of Anambra Central be reserved for serious minds, young and innovative Representatives who understand better the workings and demand of the present world. Perhaps, it’s not going to be business as usual. The National Assembly will no longer be disguised as old peoples home of some sort, not in our time. Uzuegbunam said.
His interest in the race for the Senate seat, has continued to give hope and assurance to the ordinary people of Anambra Central, as the “Uzu” project continues to gain and sustain traction and acceptance with support from both Business and political sophisticated constituents, who have issued warning to Senator Victor Umeh to step aside and rather give support to young professionals to Represent them.
“My interest is not to win the APGA party ticket alone, we have had people who got the ticket on a silver platter, but failed to go beyond that vista; I am putting my foot forward, not just to win the Nomination of the party in a contest, but to jinx the ugly record of our party at the General elections”.
Indeed, Uzu ga atu na Anambra Central.
