Its called minimum wage because all that the dishwasher in Canada will make is to live basic minimum life.With 500k salary in Nigeria you are comfortable. You can save buy your car, build your house to your taste employ househelp, driver and security guard. Why do people keep comparing wages like this? The cost of living abroad is very high. The salary deductions and taxes are high, the bills come in monthly and you must never ever be behind in payments else there are consequences. Plus the system abroad is credit and more credit. To buy a house in Nigeria or a car you save and fork out cash.Once you are done its all yours. But to buy a house and car abroad everyone does a payment plan. The day you can't afford to pay, you face repossession. If Nigeria can just get better with the economy, security and otherwise, Nigeria is the best place to Live in.

I disagree to an extent


most who have left Nigeria are upper middle class / rich folks (I mean, you can't make it to Canada without being on this bracket) and have lived such "comfortable life" that you are saying


But for so so many of us to leave at the same time, it means something is fundamentally wrong with that failed state called Nigeria

What makes Nigeria seem "comfortable" to some is the same thing that makes Nigeria a failed state

1)the fact you can cut corners

2)the fact that the justice system is flawed

3) the fact that you can pay domestic staff a pittance and have people at your beck and call at an abysmal rate

4) The fact that The tax system is also flAwed etc etc.


But then like I always say, life is choice

One can desire to hr the big boy in the midst of poverty, and $hithole ness

or he can also decide to work as a menial job guy abroad

or one can even climb up and make it abroad too.

so it all depends on how you see life
