ObaKlaz: When the picture hit this forum, I commented about how the stunt by the model was a disservice to the imgage of the nation, how Nigerians are quick to disparage and drag the imgage of the county into the mud in the glare of the international community and how most Nairalanders find it kosher to always pass demeaning, distasteful comments on the country, even when it doesn't call for it, ignoring the fact that this forum attracts visitors across the globe. I got numerous mentions from folks with one-way thought pattern, lampooning me and spitting more venom on everything pro-Nigeria. As expected, they are here, calling this Nigerian-American 'unintelligent' and all sorts! Have you sat down to ask WHY all these you spoke of up there is the case? Until the "WHY" is addressed, these sad things will continue You cannot launder the image of a country run like the way Nigeria is, no matter how you try Structural changes from top down across board need to be done FIRST before presenting a facade of "all is well" to the international community |

And if you take your time to really understood what I said with zero sentiment, you could have easily seen that I wasn't referring to her specifically.
Action has consequence.
It's a simple question I asked You did not answer People have burnt and stepped on the American flag IN AMERICA and are still living productive lives Its only MAYBE when you want to run for office That your opponent may use it against you Apart from that Not that I EXPLICITLY recommend wanton desecration of national flags But the supposed "consequences" that many have been spouting is over exaggerated Especially for a third world decrepit country like Nigeria |

There’s nothing that can justify the nonsense she did. Desecrating the flag of your country. She may get away with it in nigeria but I know people kill for their flags in most other countries.
If anyone wants to destroy her career, it’s just a matter of submitting the picture to whatever agency she signs up with either now or in the future. Even if no one submits the picture, the agency can stumble on it and they’d definitely dismiss her or trash her contract. They will dismiss her without thinking twice.
It’s only in nigeria that we allow all sorts. Most countries don’t take likely to such behavior. People burn the American flag all the time IN AMERICA So what are you talking about ? |

Caucasians don't give a ratazz about you and your problems.... They are just doing business ... Then sell same back to you after some modifications at higher prices.......
It's just business, Black boy .... You are Your own Problems ....
Whether African or Afro-American anything Negroid, Caucasians don't give you a fvck .... They can even annihilate you and your race if they want with just dedicated strikes.....

But until Caucasians build machine that will start using those precious stones as Fuel for the machine , Africa man will never use his own brain to create value for the stones....

Nothing ... Now if Caucasians stopped building machines that are using oyel as fuel ... That's how Oyel will become valueless ....

Imaginary statistics indeed....... what stats have I posted? Africa has always been the foundation of the West. Would America be what it is today without slaves... from Africa? ... and do you really believe the West can survive without the resources of Africa? Keep fooling yourself. Actually the west can survive without Africa. They exploit this continent because it's easier but the knowledge gap between Africa and the West is so damm wide Thats their biggest advantage And as for your talk about African slaves in the USA They supplied the basic labour that anybody can supply The technical aspects to the building of America was not sought from Africam slaves This is not to say that Africsn slaves had no contribution But saying America wont have been a great country without black slaves is ludicrous 2 Likes |

Gerrard59: The Ukrainian dude left his country for another country dominated by Caucasians meanwhile you did not leave Nigeria to another black dominated country? What does it tell you? That Sub-Saharan Africa - home to 95% of black people - is home to the largest number of poor people than any other continent is very poor and actually a slum. In fact, Nigeria which you erroneously stated as Africa's richest has the highest number of poor people in the world yet is the most populated country on the continent. Meaning that there are more poor people in Nigeria than almost all of Eastern Europe.
Africa is not wealthy, the earlier you know this, the better for you. Wealth is not what you have but what you can make do with. Japan, Switzerland, South Korea and Singapore don't have half of the so-called minerals most African countries possess yet are amongst some of the richest places on the planet because they utilised the most important resource - human resource. Which is why crude oil is useless if there is no superior human knowledge in extracting it. In fact, without advanced knowledge from White and Asian dominated countries, so-called minerals in most African countries would have been worthless. Just like crude oil is facing imminent decline in demand due to green technology, it means that so-called wealth will become valueless in the world market. It is the buyer of crude that determines the price of the product based on what s/he intends using it for. Coal more than a 100 years was once like crude oil but today? Less value, implying those countries that were wealthy because they had coal aren't wealthy any longer. Tomorrow, if European and American consumers decide to consume cell based chocolate, the so-called cocoa which could be peddled as wealth based on your post will lose value just as cell/plant based meat will one day make animal based meat to lose value. The buyer dictates whether the so-called mineral is valuable invariably making the country to be wealthy
While GDP is a major indicator of measuring a country's wealth, it is not the only way ditto for GDP per capita. Rather, HDI should be placed at the top. Nigeria according to you is richer than Ukraine based on the sizes of both countries' economies but which country has the highest number of poor people in the world? How can such a country be said to be rich? Yes, any rational person will underrate Africa because it has the highest number of poor people in the world. Have you seen or read where a rich country/person is underrated? So, assuming Africa should not be underrated, what do you recommend? Be placed at the same level like Malaysia? South Korea? Vietnam? Brazil? Do you know the sacrilege you would have committed? If you desire that Africa should not be under-rated, then countries on the continent should be rich, at least more than Eastern Europe then afterwards South East Asian countries then maybe North Asia before Western countries.
Africa is poor and has the highest number of poor people. Last I checked, there is a link between high poverty rates and proliferation of slums. These are facts and they don't care about feelings. https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-1-349-08473-9_2 End of story Technical Knock Out |

Lol, if GDP is useless as you claim, why is the USA world power? Why are they referred to as the richest country in the world and the best economy? That's because their currency is the world reserve currency And most Fortune 500 companies are American companies India and UK almost have the same GDP size But Britain has influence that India can only dream of So I agree with the person you quoted GDP is not an accurate enough metric. Let me make it easier for you India has a bigger GDP than Switzerland But given a choice between two countries above Which will most pick ? There you go |
