lawani: You miss the point. One culture is dominant in the USA. State funded education is English based. Their ties are with the UK. They were a post of Britain and majority of them descended from Britain and Ireland. In your Biafra will be Yoruba people. Infact the Obi Onitsha is a Yoruba descent man but now Igbo and etc. That is how it is. Dominate your sphere!
Now, this restructuring you mentioned, what about police and soldiers? The main thing is let non Yoruba soldiers and police leave Yoruba land as part of your restructuring. Do you like that? If you dont, you must be evil. Majority of Americans did not descend from Britain stop spreading falsehood, What will you say about the Germans and the French. Remember, as at the time America gained independence, they were just 13 rebellious States, now they are 50, so the remaining 37 were not under Britain at all, but instead came from former French prooerty (Louisiana) Mexico (Texas, California AZ and NM) and even Russia (Alaska) so your point is not valid in America's case. |

Duru1: Do not be deceived with the alleged diversity in USA. There must be a dominate culture for nation states to survive. In the case of USA, it is English. As you have alluded with the case of Sarkozy and Hungary, yet the dominate culture is French and the language is the unit of measure. It is not out of ordinary to request the existence of Republic of Igbo land or even Biafra where a dominate culture can consolidated all the elements of progressives. And besides, the American culture today is a mixture of several cultures, that is why it is called the "melting pot of cultures" Fine the language many speak is English, but it all surprise to know that America has no official language at the federal level, so there are dozens of Languages spoken in America too, like French is Louisiana, German in ND and Spanish in California/New Mexico. If you have proposed a confederation of ethnic nationality under the Nigeria umbrella, where each nationality handles it's issues and do not need to run to Abuja to beg, !then contribute for federal infrastructure army and foreign policy, that would have made more sense, but disintegration? That is a lazy argument |

Daboomb: That is the mentality that the WEST is pushing into our children and women of today!
Kick your husband out of the house, poison the mind of your children and let the children moan that their father is a bad person, despite working his socks-off to provide for all their needs!
That is exactly the life of people in the Western countries. That is why they raise children that become "psychologically unbalanced" adult!
"Family Chaos" is the end-result. May God help us. Yea right. But many Fathers in Nigeria should quit being assholes. Many of them believe being an asshole is their God given right, and the result of that is seen in many suffering and unbalanced kids on the streets today. The problem is a two way thing, and for us ti save our society from collapsing, we have to fix it |

Duru1: The Europeans were wise and decided to make sure that culture and tradition should be cornerstone of nation building. Germans and French could not live together in one country. Most of the wars fought in Europe have come as a result of maltreatment of certain minority ethnic group in one country while their brethren are heterogeneously majority in neighboring country. The tribal nations in Nigeria are growing large and wide with stronger embrace to culture and tradition. In future, there must be a need to have a distinct nation for ethnicity. Besides, there is an unforeseen power in vernacular when used as language of education. If Africa follows that line and divide based on ethic lines, we will have more than 1000 countries in Africa, and how viable can they be? The reason why the Europeans overran us in the first place is that clannish proposition you have for Nigeria to divide based on ethnic lines. With more than 250 tribes in Nigeria, should Nigeria now split into 250? |

If Nigerian armed forces of the northern region indigenes were not involved in 1966 riot, we would not have this discussion. Yea right. If Nigeria gets over its tribal acrimony, Nigeria will be a great country indeed. Disintegrating Nigeria will be too bad, and the damage will be felt across Africa indeed, as the armed forces will have to be disintegrated too; and you know what that means for many African countries |

pazienza: Igbos were already dominant in the Army and civil service before Nzeogwu coup. Their dominance in those sectors were not fall outs of Nzeogwu coup, they were earned through hard word and adventurism prior to Nigerian independence, when the British were in charge and competence trumped mediocrity. The coup plotters killed many Igbo soldiers out of hate, resentment, revenge, etc.
Igbo dominance in the civil service was earned. The colonial employed the best hands, Igbos were the best hands, and were adventurous enough to leave their enclaves to take up employment in any remote part of Nigeria their services were needed. I agree with this your post now our dominance in the army and the civil service was worked for and earned, and if course was not because of nepotism. I thought you wanted to deny that fact, then I would have known for sure that you are mischievous if you did that. |

That was clear state sponsored killing. Read one of Wole Soyinka's book (and the man died) to get more details. There is no guarantee that the death of Nnamdi Kanu will lead to the massacre of Northerners in the East. That is pure baseless assumptions... Then you have not been to the east lately. |

Col Arthur Unegbe was killed in the coup. Zik was not in the country during the coup, Okpara was entertaining a foreign leader during the coup.
Ademoyega was a major part of the core coup plotters, some only you know what you meant by to a lesser extent.
How exactly did the Igbo have the Army in their pocket Post Nzeogwu coup? How exactly did they have the civil service in their pockets Post Nzeogwu coup? I eagerly await your statistical substantiation of the above questions with credible sources.
No, the Akenzua Igbophobic article was written before the war, Ahmadu Bello Igbophobic footage was made before the coup , the details of the Northern house of Assembly meeting to curb what they termed "Igbo dominance", was made before the coup.
You will be a mischievous character, to chalk up the Igbophobic stench emanating from Arewa-Oduanistan to the fall out of the Nzeogwu coup. And besides, it is common knowledge that the Igbo were dominant in the civil service prior to the civil war, denial of this will be mischievous. And besides, if the Igbis did not have the army in their pocket, why did the coup plotters have to kill many Igbo Officers to curtail their influence in the army It was the Igbo dominance in the civil service that made Ahmadu Bello voice out his fear about Igbo domination. For you to be talking like this, well sha, I reserve my remark |

blues2022: Politically, you may be correct, but what about the civilians that were massacred. where they also part of the coup? Are they part of the government? After the counter coup that saw many Igbo officers dead, why not halt the killing? Why extend it to innocent civilians? Please, whats your take on it. Wokem? The illiterates who went on killing rampage (their judgement is waiting for them, the ones that are not already dead) were sold the idea that we killed their leaders and want to dominate them etc. that was bad and I will never justify badness. the massacre of the civilians were wrong on many levels (my grand father lost cousins aplenty) but there was a motivation (that is my point) the motivation was not enough justification for what happened, but we cannot just wish it away. I asked the other guy if he knows the consequences of Nnamdi Kanu dying in jail and he was just beating about the Bush. Nnamdi Many dying in jail will lead to the death of many innocent Hausa people in the east, you and I know that. Are the Hausa people who will be butchered not innocent too? Did they send DSS or Buhari to Kill him? what is their concern with Nnamdi Kanu's matter Yet in the heat of the moment, nobody will remember all that, and those guys will be dead meat. why do the Hausa peeps in Anambra flee to the barracks after election? or whenthe atmosphere is hot there? And this is Nnamdi Kanu that is one riff raff somewhere o. Now Imagine an Igbo president killed and the Igbo governors killed too, what do you think will happen? |

If Nnamdi be killed today. Then he would have been killed by an elected Northern president who has northern support and mandate. His murder would have been an institutionized one, that occurred under Arewa-Oduanistan rulership with active online and offline support of Arewa-Oduanistans. Was this the same scenario surrounding the Nzeogwu coup? Before 1966, list another massacre of such magnitude that happened? The one that happened in Kano in 1957/8 was not a massacre, it was a fight gone bad that left casualty on both sides in Sabongari, so before you lie, use another example And concerning your last paragraph, you are the level of your thinking? Was Ironsi killed? Yes was an Igbo killed in the coup Okotie Eboh was not Igbo, so I'll say no. were there other tribes involved? To a lesser degree yes. Let's now go to the results of the coup.... Igbos were the highest beneficiary of that coup. They now had the army, civil service and the presidency in their pocket. in a multiethinic country, that is not a good sign. It is because of this indeed that many Hausa people and Yoruba people who lived then consider us as domineering people. Let us look at this without sentiment please. |

Are you by anyway justifying the massacre of Ndiigbo all over the North post counter coup? Oga I am not justifying anything.... I lost family aplenty because of what happened.... Of course it was not all Igbo that killed Tafa and Ahmadu, but it was cause and effect, and you cannot deny that. Whether it was right or wrong (of course it was wrong) is another thing, but what happened will not have happened if their leaders were not killed in such manner, and if you deny this, you are not a sincere person. My grandfather was the Eze ndi Igbo in Bauchi before the war, well loved by the Northerners there, yet he was a very perceptive mind, he knew what laid behind those friendly laughter and camaraderie from the Northerners, before the counter coup even broke out, he already had left the North with his entire family and was safe at home.
Where as non discerning Igbos like you stayed behind, deceived by friendly vibes they were getting from Northerners, they were all slaughtered by their Northern friends. Few of them that were lucky enough to make it to Benue from far North were ambushed and massacred by Tivs, Idomas, and their Hausa friends in Markurdi and it's surroundings.
Same happened in Benin and in Yorubaland.
Those stupid Igbos died, and nothing happened, their families replaced them, and the Igbo race continued to exist.

There can be no unity with people who hate the very things that make you who you are.
The things that make the Igbo who we are, the ambitious spirit, the entrepreneur spirit that is always searching for opportunities to make money out of nothing, the aggressive drive for success at all cost, in any endeavour he puts his mind to, the independent rebellious spirit that bows to no traditional or political figure head, the colonial spirit that will always seek out to dominate any place he finds himself through sheer hardwork and communal joint effort that makes him to invite kinsmen to help him establish control in a new area, driven by the core values of "Onye aghana nwanne ya".
These are things that drive the non Igbo Nigerians mad, They can never be comfortable with it and Ndiigbo are never going to stop those traits, cos those are our cultural imprints, they are things that make us who we are. We have an impasse with OduaArewanistans and their allies. Hmmm.... Have you lived among Yoruba people in Lagos, or Hausa people to know that they ALL hate us. I have done so, and to tell you the truth, many of my Yoruba peeps tell me that indeed, they admire the hustle spirit of the Igbo man. The bad eggs are the ones causing trouble upandan, the unemployed touts, agbero etc. those ones are miserable and of course, miserable people don't like when people are successful. And as someone rightly said, the hatred is two ways, there are some Igbo people who don't like Yoruba people or Hausa people at all, calling them all sorts of derogatory names and stuff.
