Akwa Ibom Information Boss Scores Akpabio High On Performance *Presents 8 Yrs Scorecard Of The Governor *Highlights Activities For Akpabio's Hand-Over "Eight years after... it is gratifying to observe that Akwa Ibom has witnessed a people-focused leadership, that has changed the landscape of our dear State, re-defined her people to become more relevant in the politics and economy of the Country". These were the words of the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Deacon Aniekan Umanah, during a special media interactive session, Sunday, in Uyo, the State capital. However, with less than a dozen day to the exit of Governor Godswill Akpabio as the State Chief Executive, the State mouthpiece is of the opinion that so much have been achieved in all sectors and encapsulated into what has been generally referred as the Uncommon Transformation of the State. Among the sectors uncommonly transformed by the outgoing administration, according to Deacon Umanah, are: Education, Infrastructure Development, Health and Agriculture. Others include: Rural Development, Electricity and power as well as Human capital development, amongst others. The Information boss divulged that plans have been concluded by the outgoing administration to inaugurate a total number of 165 life-touching projects across the State before May 29. "The projects are located at College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Eyofin-Udung Uko, Oron, Uquo, Eket, Abat in ONNA, Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat Enin, Government House Grounds. "others are Uyo; Obot Idim Ibesikpo; Uyo International Hospital ; Ikot Ekpene ; Ikot Oku Ubo Offot, Uyo; Ediene Abak, AKS, Obio Akpa, Utu Etim Ekpo ; Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo; Shelter Afrique ; Tropicana Complex ; Essien Udim ; Ikot Ekpene, etc", said Umanah. While lauding Journalists in the State for the unwavering support they gave to the outgoing administration, Umanah, solicited "same level of support and cooperation to the incoming Government of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel", stressing that "no government can succeed without the support of the people". Meanwhile, programs and activities lined up for the smooth transition to the incoming administration had already kicked started, Saturday, 16th May, with inauguration of some projects at the College of Education, Afaha Nsit. This reporter observed that on the 20th May, there will be Valedictory EXCO at the EXCO chambers, Uyo, while Inter Denominational Thanksgiving service in honour of His Excellency, Governor Akpabio will be held, Sunday, the 24th May. Stakeholders Interactive session/Valedictory address by His Excellency is slated on Tuesday, May 26 at the Banquet Hall, by noon, while the Night of elocution in celebration of His Excellency is billed for Wednesday, the 27th May at the Banquet Hall, by 8pm. On Thursday, the 28th May, there will be interactive session/Valedictory address /luncheon with stakeholders at the Banquet Hall, by 10am, while on the D-day, Friday, 29th May, 2015, there will be inauguration ceremony at the Akwa Ibom international stadium, by 10am. https://www.facebook.com/E4plusmedia/posts/915300641870053:0

mmsen:Why are you bothering to explain things to the slowpoke who is paid to post for APC. Akpabio has built 5 general hospitals in LGA that had none in the state in addition to these specialists hospital. Ask him how many gov.in nigeria have built up to 2 new hospitals? He has also renovated most of the existing general hospitals in the state, employed more doctors, given all doctors in the state brand new cars so as to help them travel easily to their duties. Akpabio has also raised the standard of the general hospital in ikot ekpene, eket and oron which were neglected prior to his comming to a standard that is able to accommodate and train house officer's ie young doctors in the state. Not to mention the workdone on the state school of nursing and health technology. |
crixtex:The only people complaining on these threads are those who hate to see others progress. No worries. We know who they are and their antics. |
buchichukwu69:Good question this quatenery hospital that is one of the center that will help train and sharpen the skills of medical professionals in the state and country. The standard of this hospital is higher than that of a teaching hospitals and most doctors in Nigeria do not know how to operate in hospital environment like this one, thats why the 150 doctors that will practice here are expatriates and nigerian doctor's who trained or practice abroad. But in the years to come this knowledge will be transferred to our local doctors. Akpabio has built a brand new states university which started in 2010 and graduated its first student a few weeks ago and in addition he sent 50 PhD student of akwa origin abroad for training of which 24 are already back in the state university helping make the university manpower the best of any university of the same age in the country. The university will help in the manpower development of the state just like the other projects. E.g. the MRO in akwaibomstate airport has sent over 100 indegines for aviation specific training abroad, and Akpabio also was the one that paid for the over 150 students that the past governor sent abroad for training in the twilight o his administration. Manpower development is a process not a destination, and this administration has done its bit to help move the wheel of that process in the state. |
Akpabio is still the only governor in Nigeria with an impeccable taste in government project he takes his time to deliver world standard project in the state building them like one would their personal property. The roads in akwa ibom are abuja standards built by the best construction firms in the country. His stadium the best in west africa His e library the first and best in west Africa His airport. The best runway in the country with night operation capacity. Akpabio is the Pioneer of pipe Jack underground drainage in west Africa. His schools of the best standards. His hotels, ran by international brands Every thing governor Akpabio does is of the highest quality. May god bless him for giving Nigerians a leader they can believe in. |
[s] aresa:Bad belly people haters of progress . Go and enjoy all the infastructure that your governor has so far completed in osun state for you and family.we in akwa ibom are happy with Akpabio s projects. Mean while osun state governor is owning civil servants 10 months salary while his son was caught at the lagos airport trying to smuggle millions of dollars that would have been enough to pay civil servants in the state. here's a sneak peak of the hospital inside

At last Nigeria gets its first quaternary hospital, To god be the Glory, and congratulations to Akwa Ibom people who will now enjoy the state of the arts medical facility.

ROSSIKE:It would be better to leave out insults and just present the facts, so some others will learn. Arguments are won by facts not name calling. |
Octaves:You dont need to trade insults Rossike is right Nigeria has been better under indigenous rule than under the colonial administration, despite the challenges of leadership by Nigerians which are really signs of growing pains that will begin to wane as we bend the learning curve. If you do and empirical comparison the colonial Administration 1897 to 1960 = 63yrs and the indigenous Nigerian Government Administration from 1960 to 2015=55yr which to be honest the military years should not count because it was a period of unmitigated "lootocracy" - stealing without any record or citizen challenge as opposed to stealing under the civilian govt which the records are easily accessible but we only lack the political will to apply the rule of law on the culprits. You would Agree that Nigeria despite its leadership challenges has impacted the lives of ordinary Nigerians better within a period of 55yrs than the british ever did within the 63yrs they ruled Nigeria. If you compare the colonial Administration advances and commitment to development of 63yrs of colonial rule in Nigeria with advances made at the same period of time of colonial rule in South Africa or Hong kong where the colonial imperialist were really interested in developing and had intention of settling there, you would agree that their policy and administration of Nigeria was not far from criminal. |

Sooroptimist:Am waiting for the massive voting for Buhari. The north voted massively for him in 2003,2007and in 2011 he failed to win all three times even with the so called massive northern votes he will fail yet again, massive. Vote or not |
poundlander:Election are won on political structures not propaganda and media manipulations. PDP has strong political structures that they have painstakingly built over the past 16yrs allover the country, As we speak PDP is using its mature political structures to do the needful even in your village and ward while you and other APC goons are online screaming. Voters respond to political structure that take the campaign to the people that matter in the grassroot, not those who are screaming in the media and foreign countries that wont vote in this election. |
mandarin:Keep calculating and analysing, Eye go clear you and APC when GEJ wins the election including most of the Northern states on March 28, While APC is busy campaigning on newspapers and on online platform, PDP is busy campaigning in the 774 LGA and wards doing the needful. Victory belong to hard workers not noise makers. |
olaxco2f:IF YOUTHS ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW, THEN WHEN IS GENERAL BUHARI PLANNING TO STEP DOWN? For OVER 30 YEARS, 73 year old General Buhari has been DECEIVING the youth with useless propaganda on how he wants youths to be the leaders of tomorrow! And for over 10 years, he has been trying to take over the Office of The President in his OLD AGE! He is a man of many contradictions! #Nigerians, General Buhari obviously only cares about conquering Nigeria by ANY MEANS NECESSARY to fulfill his selfish political ambition! Do NOT believe a word the GENERAL SAYS! YOUTHS WILL SURELY BE OPPRESSED IF GENERAL BUHARI BECOMES PRESIDENT! YOUTHS, RISE UP AND VOTE FOR A MAN WHO TRULY CARES FOR YOU, PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN! |
Silly leader that couldn't count or reconcile national Account a primary function of the central bank governor was it $20, $12 or $10bn he couldnt tell nigerians his incompetence got him fired, thank God the price water cooper group has cleared the NNPC and FG from any corrupt practice that this APC leader alleged. Crediting Chad, Niger, cameroon and Imaginary South African Mercenaries for the victory over boko Haram that our Gallant Nigerian Military has won with the Blood of its Soldiers is the height of betrayal of this supposed leader. |
tola9ja:At least GEJ's trains are running and Nigerians are using it daily. Lagos light rail has spent $2 billion so far and 35yrs after inception there is still no train in sight. Sai APC and SAI Buhari for cancelling the lagos light rail in 1984 Where is lagos light rail? Where is Lekki Airport? Where is lagos cable car? |
aresa:You mean as opposed to $96 million finding its way into jagaban and his boys pocket/ bank account? ![]() I would rather have $96 million build the best stadium in west Africa that will last for generations than have the money fritter away by rouges in form of APC |
