Atouke: WOW Good news I hope they Get the German National team Since the Stadium Is built by Germans. And Am Surprised at the speed at which the turkish construction Giant is using in building the four points by sheraton at ikot Ekpene. I was at the site recently and i was totally blown away.

German National Team? thats a long shot bro. Which country is cape verde? I dont want the super Eagles playing the black stars, The Super Eagles may lose and that will not be a good history/begining for the stadium!

First event scheduled for Akwa Ibom Stadium complex "2014 edition of Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol Night (20,000 singers) will be happening live at Ibom International Stadium. 2013 edition of the Carol Night (9,999 singers) held at Uyo township stadium on the 21st December 2013." culled from http://ibomstadium.com/event/

The Event is an internationally rated Annual Thanksgiving Service organized by the state for which it currently holds the Guinness World record for hosting the biggest carol Singers in one place. the 2014 event is also expected to break a world record.

Before the above event on the 21st of December 2014 there will be an opening soccer match between the Nigerian Super Eagles and a foreign national team the state governor disclosed this information on the 27th anniversary celebration of the state creation recently. As at press time the governor was still making his mind on the choice of Ghana, South Africa or the Cape Verde National team.

The governor has constituted and Advisory team headed by Mr Paul Bassey of CAF, to Advise The state on the choice of a suitable National team for the grand opening of the Stadium.

From Hörsching in Austria to Uyo in Nigeria, the containers were on their travels for three months. But they all reached their destination exactly as planned.”

The new Akwa Ibom soccer stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, is modeled on Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Experts from the ThyssenKrupp Group were also involved in the construction of Nigeria’s most modern and attractive stadium. ThyssenKrupp Plastics Austria supplied 6,900 processed “Satinice” Plexiglas panels for the unique facade. Working to precise specifications, the panels were cut into triangles with and without perforation patterns using a CNC milling machine. This was TKPA’s first order for ocean shipment.

The panels were manufactured to the customer’s specifications at Evonik Industries Austria. TKPA’s reliable partner and main Plexiglas supplier produced the matt 15 mm thick, 1,400 x 3,800 mm Plexiglas panels with a satin finish on both sides. This finish gently diffuses the light and protects the panels from yellowing and fading caused by UV rays.

Logistics challenge

Shipping the Plexiglas panels to their destination in Nigeria called for a sophisticated logistics chain. The numbered triangles were shrink-wrapped and packed professionally on Euro pallets in sea freight containers. 16 of these containers were transported by road to Bremerhaven by Schenker Logistics between March 2013 and January 2014. During the journey, the location of the individual trucks could be checked at any time using a “track & trace” system, ensuring that both the customer and ThyssenKrupp Plastics Austria always knew exactly where the goods were.

After customs clearance and handover to the shipping company, the sealed containers were shipped across the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean before reaching the Nigerian port of Warri two weeks later, 100 kilometers to the south of their final destination.
