Do you know the Responsibities of the Governors Forum is to:

1. Track the bills at National and State Houses of Assembly, so as to build knowledge about these laws and where they are in operation.  This collation helps States that are yet to pass similar laws by providing precedent that can be emulated.  Examples include the Fiscal Responsibility Act, Public Procurement Act etc.

2. The NGF engages experts on legal issues that affect the Federating Units and come up with Blue Prints or Reports on such issues , which if adopted will aid the Federating Units in addressing these issues e.g. Teams of experts on Constitutional Law were engaged to review the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The review led to the production of a blueprint which if adopted will help in the upcoming Constitutional amendment/review.

3. In addition, the Secretariat maintains a database of Legal materials, produces periodic reports on the status of pending Legislations and maintains relations with official gazettes with a view to promoting the timely publications of legal enactment, and preparing of legal decisions for publication.
