PoliticsWhy Do We Parade Illiterates As Our Political Women Leaders In Nigeria?? by Unblockable(op): 1:20pm On Nov 14, 2013
I've come to understand that most of our polical women leaders are illiterates, mostly the wardly women leaders.

Is it that, they are made women leaders by our politicians just to cover up their(politicians) dubious or controversial acts??

You can hardly find a degree holder, or even an SSCE holder as a women leader in the ward levels. Most of them are either PLSC holders or Illiterates.

Most of the politicians are corrupt, so they won't like to make an educationally sound woman, to hold that position so as to avoid scutiny.

They make illiterates women leader just to cover-up their corrupt act. People who will not be able to speak in a polical gathering are our women leaders.

The only polical gathering where our women leaders speak is their ward meeting, where their local languages are highly accepted.

I don't really know the main reason why most of our polical women leaders are illiterates. But I believe some people in the house would be able to say something.

Bare 24hour when Kogi State Governor’s convoy allegedly killed former President of Academics Staff Union of Universities, Late Prof Festus Iyayi, another governor’s convoy reckless driving has caused the death of two persons while many others were seriously injured.

REAPORT ACCORDING TO NAIJ NEWS

https://www.osundefender.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/accident-scene1-360x225.jpg

Two persons were killed on Wednesday, while no fewer than nine others were injured after a tipper rammed into pedestrians at the U-turn end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The tipper was said to be avoiding a government convoy of seven vehicles that allegedly drove recklessly into the expressway from a side road. The incident was said to have occurred between 11am and 12pm.

Eyewitness said the convoy had stopped to visit a yet-to-be identified person admitted at a private hospital in the area.

A witness, who requested anonymity said, “It was a convoy of about seven vehicles. There were four jeeps and three escort vans. The escorts were riot policemen.

“On their way back, while connecting the express, the convoy caused the accident. They drove into the expressway recklessly without stopping to check for oncoming vehicles.

“At the time they connected the expressway, a tipper was approaching on top speed. To avoid hitting the convoy, the tipper swerved to the right side of the road. It lost control and rammed into some pedestrians standing by the side of the road.”

The eyewitness said 11 persons were hit, while two died on the spot. It was learnt that the convoy did not wait initially, but went to make a U-turn to the other side of the expressway.

It was learnt that the convoy later stopped few metres opposite the scene of the accident.

The eyewitness said, “The riot policemen came down, they watched the scene for a while, jumped into their vehicles and proceeded towards the Sango area of Ogun State.

“We could not challenge the convoy when it stopped because the policemen carried guns and they looked menacing.”

It was learnt that a Lagos State Ambulance Service bus later arrived to convey victims to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses were unsure if the convoy belonged to either the Lagos or Ogun state governments.

One of them said, “The number plates of the vehicles were covered. Some people later came and said the number plates on the vehicles of the police had Ogun State written on them.”

A senior police officer attached to Oke Odo Police Division, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not the command’s spokesperson, said, “We were informed that a truck coming from Abeokuta, had experienced brake failure while trying to avoid hitting another vehicle.

“The truck swerved off the road and in the process, ran into some pedestrians who were standing by the side of the expressway. We are aware that two persons were killed in the accident and that they had been conveyed to a general hospital by sympathisers at the scene.

“However, we do not know if the vehicle belonged to a convoy because we did not meet it at the scene.”

Ogun State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Yusup Olayniyonu, said the convoy was not that of the Ogun government.

He said, “The governor is at Abeokuta and the deputy governor is also at Abeokuta. Neither was in Lagos today.”

The Lagos State Commissioner for information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, aso said no government convoy from the state went to the area.

A highly placed government official also said, “The governor is in Marina, Lagos Island, while the deputy governor is outside the country. No government official was in that area today (Wednesday).”

The telephone line of the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, rang out. Text messages sent to the phone waere not replied to as of the time of going to the press.

PoliticsConfab Opponents Secretly Sending Memoranda –Okurounmu by Unblockable(op): 10:04am On Nov 14, 2013
•Ex-minister demands House of Assembly for FCT

Opponents of the proposed National Conference have been secretly sending memoranda to the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue, it was learnt yesterday.

The Dialogue Committee Chairman, Senator Femi Okurounmu, claimed that the opponents of the National Conference had been secretly sending their memoranda despite their opposition to it.

Speaking at the grand finale of the committee’s nationwide consultative forum yesterday in Abuja, Okurounmu said that the national conference is a moving train that has become unstoppable.

He said: “Most of its key opponents have now aligned with popular opinion; no one can stop Nigerians from airing their views.”

It will recalled that chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been strident in their criticisms of the conference, describing it as a waste of time and resources as nothing tangible would come out of it.

But Okurounmu said yesterday that “opponents of national conference send us memoranda secretly”.

He added: “The train of the national conference has become unstoppable and irresistible. Nigerians have keyed in and are optimistic that the conference will usher in a new era of peaceful coexistence and national development.

“As children of this nation, we want to give everyone a sense of belonging and this is the goal of this conference. Even the initial skeptics are beginning to have a second thought and some of them have begun to send us their memoranda secretly”.

According to him, the conference would be different from past efforts as it is not an imposition from above.

Okurounmu, however, said the President did not declare any area of national issue sacred and that Nigerians were allowed to discuss whatever troubles them.

Submitting the position of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), former Minister of the FCT, Dr Aliyu Modibbo Umar, canvassed the establishment of a House of Assembly for the territory, saying the current situation where the National Assembly assumes the role of a legislative house for the FCT is confusing, retrogressive and grossly unproductive.

Umar stressed that the legislative organ, when established, would ensure efficiency in the administration of the 8,000 square kilometres of the territory.

According to him, the FCT as presently constituted is governed without laws.

Umar claimed that the National Assembly, as it is today, is preoccupied with diverse national issues, which hardly leaves it with enough time to legislate effectively for the territory.

He noted that the Abuja Project was supposed to have been completed within 25 years and that now in 37th year; the level of development is still at 25 per cent due to inadequate funding.

Umar reiterated that the present funding arrangement for the territory is grossly inadequate and needs to be reviewed.

He said: “We suggest that the FCT should be restored as a Federation Project and be funded from the Consolidated Revenue Fund by allocating five per cent of the funds to the city.”

Former Akwa Ibom State Governor Obong Victor Attah, however, warned against plans to send the outcome of the conference to the National Assembly for ratification.

He said since the lawmakers already have a constitution review committee, they are likely to treat such recommendation as another “memorandum” and then forward same to its relevant committee.

Attah noted that it was wrong to subject the aggregate views of Nigerians to the lawmakers and instead of a referendum.

“After the referendum, we forward it to the National Assembly and they have just one duty: to repeal the decree that brought the current constitution into being and incorporate the views of the conference”, he said.

If nothing comes out of the meeting today, I would be surprised, because corrupt leaders must be swept out of this nation..

The senate should be able to do what we are expecting from them. She would have appeared before the senate last week, but the senate president went to UAE for the finals..

Let's expect a positive result from the upper chamber.

I've always known you to be a fresh air crooner, ever where fresh air does not exist, you claim it exists.

Have you forgotten Peter Adaobi of Anambra state?? I believe that main reason why you feel that Okorocha is worse than any other governor is because he defeted from APGA to APC (which you all Islamic party).

Apart from those people, who dislike Okorocha because of the party he belongs, which plausible person would compare Okorocha with Adaobi??
PoliticsRe: Anambra Gubernatorial Election: The Verdict!!! by Unblockable:
The main reasons why Anambra must be governed by APC, are:

1. The best governor the south east has ever produced is an APC Governor.

2. The south east, Anambra particularly can no longer tolerate a man-woman as a governor, it's either the governor is a man or a woman.

3. PDP has ruled Nigeria for 14yrs now, and there's nothing to boast about in the SE, apart from the Enugu International airport.

4. APC is a party known to be producing the best candidate in any election. Be it gubernatorial, senatorial, or others.

If the Igbo mods don't ban an Igbo poster, expecting OAM4J to ban the poster because OAM4J is Yoruba doesn't speak well of all three of them.

Just report the issue and continue calling the mods attention to the violation.

The mods are not on every thread and can't see every post.

noblezone: The South East people are not as tribalistic as others, that is why we don't have regional leaders.
That is also our undoing.

Check across Nigeria, which people will you find everywhere developing those places?

And we are calling on our people, it is time for regional interation!

The West has it, the North has it, why cant we?
So are you trying to tell us that most of the online tribalists are not from the SE??

wesley80: what's your definition of a tribalist?
There're so many definitions for tribalism. Here is one.

Tribalism is strong feeling of identity with and loyalty to one's tribe or group.

So, with the above definition, can you now tell us the reason why you feel that Buhari is a tribalist?? Because the the person who possesses the that definition is known as a tribalist.
PoliticsRe: Why The South East, Must ShunThe APC For Now! by Unblockable: 3:51pm On Nov 13, 2013
noblezone: 1. If you are refering to Okorocha, it was not APC that produiced him. He got an offer of a goodwill under APGA and then sold himself so cheap like a call girl. Which politician has changed party more than Okorocha in Nigeria? Soon he will leave APC and join another one.

2. What exactly are you saying> Must you waste space?

3. Onitsha Owerri road nko? The army under Ihejirika is going trough some professional transformation. Wait, let Buhari take over and see what happens to he gains so far.

4. Like those throwing "progressive" blows at the house of Rep na?

let me add

5. APC is known to slaughter corpers because their candidate lost an election.
6. APC is known to get angry with Mr. President because he ordered the Nigerian army to move against the Boko Haram.
So if you agree with me that Okorocha is the best governor SE has ever produces, why all this??

You're against my no. 2?? Is Obi a man or a woman??

APC too is looking for a way to fight the Boko Haram, that's the main reason why we want a plausible president that would be able to declare war against the Boko Haram.
