The new tax law has just been gazetted. Information about the law is still sketchy. From January 2026 the full implementation will commence. Some of us are nervous. Those who are knowledgeable should enlighten us more.

Among the things we already know about the law is that everyone that has bank account must have tax ID. Also, everyone must be taxed irrespective of the kind of job you do.

Now the big question is, if a client pay me, say, 10 million for a job out of which 300k is my workmanship, will they tax the 300k or the 10 million?

They already told us that if anyone gives contract to any business that is not registered for tax, such person will be fined 5 million naira. Now, if a carpenter registers a company and a client pays him 50 million to furnish a hotel for him, will he pay tax on the 50 million not minding that most of the money goes for materials that have already been charged import duties on and or VAT?

If they'll charge only the workmanship, how will they determine that?

As a roofer, if someone pay me to buy material and roof his house and I'm not a registered business, will it be considered that he has given contract to none registered tax paying business?

Does this new tax law intend to force artisans to register companies? Or will taxation follow the same pattern irrespective of whether you're a business or just individual?

A lot of clarification need to done on this new tax law.

I use 05 civic. I changed my back shocks to that of CR-V. I could pass anywhere SUV pass. But the problem is that it put too much pressure on the front shocks. I've gone back to using the normal shocks but I'm now suffering bad roads.

If you always carry passengers or loads, consider using CR-V shocks

Can after market tints also be registered?

What is wrong with our policy makers? Bad roads are the major cause of accidents for these big lorries. If it happens at night the damage will be minimal, but if it happens during the day when the road is busy there will be severe consequences.

Forcing them to drive in the daytime means that they will be dragging small good spaces on the road with okada people thereby increasing the risk of accidents

In my own case, I was going through a very hard time. Not long I completed NYSC, the small business I started collapsed due to circumstances beyond my control. (a topic for another day).

When the money entered, I think around 300k, I quickly got a spot and started POS business. 2020 was a bad year. We all know how endSARS protest turned out in owerri. All the police stations closed down and all security operatives went underground. So criminals were having a field day.

So my small POS business was attacked three times between May and November thereby leaving me with nothing and a lot of loans... That was how my COVID-19 loan went...

I woke up this morning with a debit alert. I knew I didn't initiate such transaction so I checked the description and browsed about it. It dawned on me that CBN is recovering COVID-19 loan abi na grant sef, IDK.

My only problem is that they should have embarked on a public enlightenment campaign to alert the general public on what to expect. I'm sure banking halls will be overcrowded by next week because most people have no idea why they're being debited.

For a context, around 2020 or thereabout, CBN opened a portal where people could apply for loan. Selected applicants were credited various amounts through Nirsal microfinance bank. A lot of people thought it was a grant. But CBN is now actively recovering it. Some people even paid a percentage of the money to people that helped them with the application. The notion was that it was free money from government the way many other countries did

With the kind of practical support this girl is getting, she'll be emboldened to maintain her stance even if she may have had a rethink. At this point NYSC cannot do anything to her. She'll pass out as the here of her batch

If these organizations collapse, there will emerge a multipolar world where the United States will no longer call the shot. America is the biggest beneficiary of both NATO and UN against what Trump would have you all to believe. Ellon Musk is one of the individuals that have benefited the most from the existence of NATO and UN. Let me explain

The existence of NATO only serves the interest of America because it ensures that they have access to enormous quantities of raw materials needed to run American economy and also the leverage to assert their military power. In the absence of NATO, America will be isolated and it's economy crippled.

Same as the UN. UN gives American the power to intimidate, bully and coarse any country of their choice. In the absence of both NATO and UN, America will hardly be able to find market for their products and raw materials for their industries.

In a free market economy, America cannot defeat China in export of any form. American diplomacy, all things being equal, cannot win Chinese and Russians.

If America exits NATO and UN, it will be a win for China, Russia and the world at large because they will lose the influence to force dollars on anyone. Russia will expand politically. China's trade will grow exponentially. American dominance, especially in trade and commerce, will come to an abrupt end.

In the absence of NATO, America won't be able to threaten, even countries like Nigeria, because you need a military base in close proximity to attack a country. NATO currently gives America that leverage.

In conclusion, the conversation about exiting NATO and UN is childish because, to start with, both organizations serve only the interest of America.

If America exits NATO and UN, and Europe decide to strengthen EU, EU will enjoy better trade relation with Russia

This is a myth and scare tactic. America's agriculture, construction, trades, and etc. did just fine before tons of illegal Mexicans were around. The main reason those industries use illegals is because they don't want to pay living wages and provide safe working conditions.

There's has never been a time when there were no illegal migrants in America. Mexicans are not the only illegal migrants in America. Now do you think a restaurant owner can employ a person who went to America with a work visa to be washing plates?
