Obinnau:There is a liaison office here in São Paulo where you'll fill the form and submit your PC. You can also send the PC to the embassy yourself after filling the form. The man there will advise you accordingly. You'll pay processing and courier fees. I can't paste his phone number here but I'll describe his office. Go to Galaria Sete D'abril, Republica. Go upstairs and ask for Mr Ifeanyi. There is a Nigerian woman that sells food on the same floor, if you find her first you can ask her for his office. After you send it, make sure to follow up with the embassy. Their phone number is on the Embassy's Google page and they respond will.

Karleb:Brazilians are indeed very nice. The government is a reflection of it's people, very generous and accommodating. However, an average Brazilian does not play with their money o. I'm surprised he said a Brazilian paid his bills because that's rare. A Brazilian can help you with everything but if it's money, it's a different ballgame. On the flip side, they don't expect you to just dash them money, they are usually surprised, taken aback and very grateful when you do. Uber drivers will count coins to make sure your change is complete, they also won't let go of their 10 cents and say leave it. If you don't have, when you log back in the app you'll meet your debt there😂 |
Obinnau:You don't need to authenticate them at the Brazilian embassy in Nigeria. You can translate and authenticate your Police Character at the Nigerian embassy here and also apply for consulate letter there. That's all the document you need from Nigeria asides your passport. The other documents are Brazilian docs. There's an NGO that can assist you if you're still having difficulty. |
Chuwagold:There is no way to go about it except your husband comes. He has to be present for his name to be on the birth certificate. If you "manage" to get his name on it somehow, it will complicate your baby's passport application process. He will need to sign an authorization form for your baby's passport as a parent and without him being present to sign it at the passport office, no passport. |
Obinnau:Not surprised at all, seems like they derive joy in delaying and refusing to board. They refused to board a friend, she had to fly Turkey eventually. |
Obinnau:R$ 80-100 for a single page document. |
IderadeAratumi:Like someone mentioned, you have to consider your limitation date for traveling especially if you are flying Qatar. I advise people not to fly Qatar because they are very problematic. If you have already booked them, dress smart and get a doctor's report. If you're flying any other airline, you'll be fine. Once you get to Brazil, you don't have a problem. They are not concerned about you giving birth here as long as you have a valid visa. They usually do not ask questions but if they do it would be regarding your itinerary and accommodation. Regarding hospitals, the difference between Private and Public hospitals is comfort really. In a private hospital, you get a room to yourself and it's more conducive than what you have in Public hospitals. The medical services are pretty much the same. This is not to say public hospitals are not conducive, they are but you get to share room with others. In private hospitals, communication might be easier because you'll find English speaking doctors. You may find them in public hospitals too especially if it's a teaching hospital. Regarding C-sections, the rumor is that private hospital easily opt for C-sections because it's easier and less time consuming. The truth is C-section is quite common in Brazil, I know some of us who have birthed here and most of us had C-section. The rule in Public hospitals is that if you are fine with no medical complications, they will not do C-section for you except you don't go into labor at 41 weeks. They also opt for C-section if you have been in labor for a long time. I experienced both. I also know ppl who had normal births in private hospital so it depends on your situation and also what you want. |

IderadeAratumi:You're welcome ma'am Some Private Hospitals include Santa Joana Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital São Luz Morumbi Here are some doctors in SP, you can reach out to them: https://www.instagram.com/drmarceloantonini?igsh=a29rNTduNzZnZmow https://www.instagram.com/marcelonunesantos?igsh=cXk2a2JpNWwxMWVj https://draamirahazime.com.br/ |
IderadeAratumi:If there is no specific reason why you want to go to Rio, I would advise you do São Paulo instead. The entire process is so much easier in SP than in Rio. If you're going to Rio however, when you arrive, google "UBS perto de mim" if you want to use public clinic for antenatal. For private clinics, search for "Hospital Maternidade Particular em Rio de Janeiro" you'll get a list. Check for the one closest to your address. It's best to visit them physically when you arrive and you can also ask them to refer you to a doctor. You can also do your antenatal at the UBS and eventually give birth at a private hospital. All the best. |
wavz:It's indeed cheaper to live in non big cities and non touristy places but you may not like it there. Most of the time, the people and the system there are not used to foreigners so you may find it difficult to integrate or get things done especially with the language barrier. Personally, I feel the south is the best to live because of the exposure, development and opportunities. I don't know much about Rio but I can tell you about São Paulo in detail. The city of São Paulo is located in the State of São Paulo and it's just one of the 645 cities in the state. Yes, the state alone is over a quarter of Nigeria's land size with a population of 45m. It's very possible to find and live in cheaper cities within the state of São Paulo. You can explore cities that are close to São Paulo city. It's not always a traveling distance, you might just be crossing a street to enter the next city. There are also cities categorized as São Paulo interior, they are farther from main cities but they are cheaper, you may get bored there too depending on your personality. For example Campos do Jordão, it's a touristy interior city about 3 hrs drive from the city and very hilly, if you like nature, you may like it there. You may stay in any of these cities and move to SP City later if you want, it's more feasible to move within a state than to move inter state. Brazil is too big that moving from North to South for example will be a big headache. There are places that will take you 3 days by road to get there, even Rio to São Paulo is 7 hrs by road Another city you can check out is Curitiba in the state of Paraná. It's conducive and relatively cheap. Rio and São Paulo are expensive especially with accommodation but food and transportation isn't a problem in SP. São Paulo is more developed than Rio but more crowded. São Paulo is the New York of Brazil. Rio is more of an older city with older buildings and lots of graffiti but the people are generally perceived to be nicer. I hope I answered your questions. |
koolsammie:Yes, it's possible. You can apply directly to the university of choice. You may still be able to get grant from the university directly if it's not already competitive. GCUB grant is for international students specifically but the government bolsa is for everyone, there's still a chance to get it. If you don't get it, it's still tuition free but you won't be getting the monthly stipends. |

oloyemeji:Studio apartments are usually kitnets for students and the price I almost the same with a two bedroom. Apartments in Brazil are generally very small, studio apartments are usually about 30-40 square meters and 2 bedrooms from 48 upwards, the bigger, the more expensive. 1500 reas is about $306 today at R$4.95 to $1 Asides rent, you'll pay condominium fee, water, gas (if charged separately) and electricity. |
oloyemeji:It depends on the type of rental. If it's a temporary furnished apartment such as airbnb, it tends to be more expensive budget between USD1k - 1500. Might be lucky to find cheaper. Unfurnished 2 bedroom apartments in a good area, 1500 reas upwards. Generally, Food budget depends on what your family eats but here are prices of some things Feeding 5kg Rice. R$20 White Beans 1kg : 11 reas Milk 380g: 25 reas Chocolate powder 800g: 13 reas Red Bell ppers 1kg: 23 reas (supermarket) Tomatoes 1kg: 6 reas Caroline Reaper: 10 reas Onion 1kg: 7reas Water 5l: 9 reas (you can drink filtered tap water) Noodles: 5 reas per piece Chicken 1kg: 12 reas Turkey 1kg: 22 reas Beef 1kg: 25/30 reas Rice Swallow 2kg: 20 reas Apples 1kg: 13 reas Orange1kg: 9 reas Grapes 500g: 10 reas Sweet potatoes 700g: 9 reas Bread (1 pack of sliced): 9 reas Butter 200g: 10 reas 100% Fruit Juice: 13 reas 30% Fruit Juice: 6 reas Biscuits 400g: 7 reas Cornflakes 200g Kellogg's: 14 reas Pringle's: 11 reas Nigerian smoked fish: 50 reas (6 pieces) Transportation by bus 4/5 reas per trip and valid for 3 hours if using the transport card Uber's base fare is about 7 reas, total price depends on distance |
wavz:Application for 2025 intakes will be done this year, keep a watch on their website. Yes, a lot of Brazilians want to learn English. |
untamedd:Your police report is from Nigeria and you need it for your own PR application only, has nothing to do with your baby who is a Brazilian. To use your police report here, you have to legalize it either at the Brazilian embassy in Nigeria or Nigerian embassy in Brazil. CPF is not a requirement except this is a recent development and it has to be as recent as this month cos I know ppl who did it last month. Assuming CPF is now a requirement, anyone can get a CPF. Everyone I know including myself got their CPF as a tourist and it's valid for life. You get your child's birth certificate at the cartorio, they only need your name and passport number and the yellow paper from the hospital. Other documents application do not need your police report either Only your own PR and Naturalization need it. You have no reason to apply for asylum. |
Bammybestowed:Not True Everything stated by your friend is false. You do not need to apply for asylum for any reason. I don't know if it's a recent update but you do not need CPF for police report. Assuming you do, anybody can get a CPF number even a foreigner. You also do not need Police Character to get any of your child's document. You can even get a CPF while in Nigeria. |

If you have someone in Lagos, ask them to go the embassy to check for you. They are not the best in responding to inquiries or complaints. Something similar happened to a friend, DHL picked up but couldn't use the return waybill possibly because it had expired so it was just sitting in DHL office. My point is it could be from either party so check both. |
Asmy91:DHL didn't respond to your emails? Your return label should have a tracking number which you can use to track it. You can go back to where you got the return label and ask then to find out where it's at if it's not trackable on their website |
Anniebam:Physical submission. They are going to call your bank to confirm if the amount is there as at the date you printed for physical but to be safe just leave the money there till like a week after |
Taal17:You're absolutely correct. Thank you. |
koolsammie:Seriously |
