This ought to be a lesson to all those who think Nigeria is "rich" because it has natural resources. To all these people, I ask, what resources does Singapore have other than the skills and knowledge of its people?

Nigeria's "blessing" of oil has always been nothing more than a curse other than to a small elite who have the chance to steal massively from the funds handed over after companies like Shell and BP did the actual work of extracting the petroleum that was lying there in the ground for centuries, with the Africans who lived on top of it never even being aware of its existence. The allure of instance wealth from "chopping" some of the "national cake" has completely blinded most Nigerians from understanding that true, lasting wealth is something to be created, not something you "luck" into by winning an inflated contract, embezzling federal allocations or collecting bribes.

Here we are nearly 6 decades after independence, still chasing after our share of the same static "national cake", even as brand new companies like Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google have emerged from garages and dorm rooms to earn more per quarter than Nigeria's 2 million barrels earns in a year. Who knows how many such companies might have been born from Nigerian minds if the country's entire setup didn't revolve so completely around seeking after oil rents? Even now, as many young Nigerians are heavily investing their energies into tech startups and the like, our worthless political elite sets them up for failure at every turn, through stupid policies like Buhari's "strong" Naira, or simply doing nothing to secure the rights of way for telecoms firms seeking to roll out fibre-optic broadband.

The sad thing is that none of the people mentioned in the running for power have a clue about how badly Nigeria has gone off the rails, and those who do have no chance of getting elected, because all Nigerians care about is having "our pikin" in Aso Rock, as if that has ever helped the masses in any part of the country! By all means, keep talking about which "zone" has what "turn" in 2019 or 2023, and continue to ignore ideologies and policy platforms, and see if Nigeria doesn't continue falling further and further behind even those countries it used to laugh at during the height of the "oil boom" 1970s.

It is indeed sad..I don't know if this country is cursed, despite the great number of churches and mosques in every nooks and crannies we are still deteriorating. The two major things killing the country is Religion and ethnicity, I wish the country can be divided in these regards. Either in two(Christian and Muslim) or in three(Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba).

Again , this is why I strongly believe most atheists are not smart . From the discussion above on naturalism , since natural selection is only interested in our survival and religion which was supposedly created by man aids our survival , why stand against this belief . From a naturalist position , you shouldn't care less if it is true since our cognitive faculties are wired for survival not attainment of truth , you should be concerned if it aids our survival and not if the belief is true or false .

And since it has proven to have aided and has continued to aid our survival , why stand against it as a naturalist ?
