Nairaland GeneralLagos Hails Dangote’s Decision To Employ Lsetf’s Trainees by Uranus1(op): 3:07am On May 16, 2018
The Lagos State Government has said the Dangote Group and other partners of the State Employment Trust Fund’s Employability Support Project have agreed to employ the over 350 graduates of the project following the completion of an eight-week training programme.

The Executive Secretary of LSETF, Akintunde Oyebode, who stated this on Tuesday in Ikeja, commended Dangote Group and other partners for the gesture, saying the Employability Support Project was a way of providing a viable platform to bridge the gap of shortage of skilled and employable labour in the job market.

He said, “Manpower skills’ gap remains a significant issue for businesses operating in the state and we are pleased to see that world-class brands are satisfied with the quality of our trainees and the scheme in general.

“I enjoin other corporate organisations to follow Dangote’s lead in recruiting the well trained and certified manpower that the Employability Support Project has produced, thereby supporting the government’s effort to bridge the unemployment gap in the state.”

Oyebode explained that the Employability Support Project was an initiative of the LSETF with support from the United Nations Development Programme to provide unemployed and underemployed youths in Lagos State with vocational skill training by certified and credible training partners.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer, Arc Skills Nigeria, Amit Washington, represented by the General Manager, Mrs. Ebunoluwa Bolodeoku, said the firm also organised a job fair as part of the training, adding that the decision by Dangote and other partners to employ trainees of the Employability Support Project was a testament to the quality of the scheme.

“The vision for setting up this project, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is to increase the pool of employable graduates.

“As such, it is fulfilling that a multinational organisation of Dangote’s calibre has shown interest in recruiting a large number of our trainees.”

He added that about 150 graduate trainees had been selected for immediate employment in addition to 600 job commitments from leading organisations, including Brickhouse Construction Company, Genesis Cinemas, Crown Nature Plc, David Wej and Construction Kaiser.

Christianity EtcListening To Music During Ramadan by Uranus1(op): 2:52am On May 16, 2018
Every year , Muslim faithful around the world embark on the Ramadan fast . The Ramadan is a holy period that tests the practical application of Islam in the lives of Muslims .
Ramadan is significant to Muslims because it was during the holy month that the Quran was first revealed . And it is also one of the five pillars of Islam .

Die To Flesh
One of the tenets of the Ramadan is to abstain from anything that will cause a faithful to backslide or cause the prayers to be ineffective.
Although there is a general understanding that people abstain from illicit sexual affairs , drinking and smoking , there is an ongoing conflict on music .

Herculean Music
Music , a universal language , is like medicine to the soul. It transcends the physical and can greatly affect the mood of a person.
Yet , it is one of that must be carefully scrutinized if one must maintain holiness. Words that promote sex, the use of guns , anger are sensitive because it can create imagery and influence the thought pattern .
It is for the reason ( and some more ) that a school of thought in Islam opine that music is haram ( forbidden ) . But another notes that music is permissible insofar it does not promote what contradicts the dictates of the Quran and Hadith . This school recognizes music as a gift from God noting that in itself is good but when its content/ lyrics encourage sin, it becomes haram . This school of thought restricts haram to drinking , eating and having sexual relations . After all , they argue , the prophet Mohammed passed by a group of street singers with his wife without condemning it.
Another school abhors the use of certain musical instruments such as string - based ones. Hence , there is an abundance of nasheeds done in acapella .
To be or not
Regardless of the debate, some Muslims still find music as an instrument of praising Allah .
For musicians like Cat Stevens now known as Yusuf Islam , the sound of the Adhan , the call to prayer which was explained to be as “music for God” was his first touch with Islam . Until then , he did not know that music could be used to praise the one the creator of the universe .
Some have creatively sung covers of secular songs to sing one that praises Allah while being in total appreciation of the works of Allah . One of such artiste is Deen Squad .

HealthHow To De-worm Yourself Naturally? by Uranus1(op): 2:04am On May 14, 2018
Parasitic or intestinal worms are behind many health challenges people face; they can cause a lot of problems including digestive problems.

Some common types of parasitic worms found in man are flukes, tapeworms, hookworm, roundworms and other types of internal parasites.

If they are not quickly eliminated from the body, they can cause a lot of health problems like anemia, intestinal blockages, digestive disorders, it causes infection in pregnant women and frequent complications can occur in those with suppressed immune systems like those living with HIV or AIDS.

Signs and symptoms of intestinal worms
Signs and symptoms indicating the presence of worms in the body include unexplained weight loss, itching in the abdomen, abdominal cramps, pains and tenderness; bloating, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, dysentery, rash or itching around the vulva or rectum, frequent hunger and passing out worms in your stool.

They can also cause cravings for a high amount of sugar; headaches, head sores, constant hunger pangs despite eating, desire to eat unnatural things, seizures and itchy buttocks.

It is possible for one to have worms for a long period of time (years) without having or feeling any of the above symptoms.

Causes/risk factors
There are causes or risk factors that make it easy for worms or their eggs to enter the body and some of them are:

Eating raw or undercooked meat of an infected animal.
Drinking contaminated water
Consumption of contaminated soil; that is why it is important to thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables before consuming them.
Coming in contact with contaminated feces
Poor personal hygiene
Poor sanitation around your home and environment
Children are at greater risk of having worms and they are more susceptible to intestinal infections because they play in soil that can be contaminated.

Older adults are at lower risk of having worms; the adults who have higher risks are those with a weakened or suppressed immune system.

It is estimated that 10% of people in developing countries have intestinal infections caused by worms; they get this mostly by drinking contaminated water and their environment are mostly dirty.

Once someone comes in contact with the contaminant; it enters into the body and heads straight to the intestines where they grow and reproduce.

There can reproduce and increase in size and become so many that they start interrupting normal metabolic functions; their waste products are toxic and can cause a lot of disruptions in cellular functions and metabolic activities. This is when the symptoms start to appear.

Natural ways to de-worm yourself
Deworming, also known as drenching is the process of removing intestinal worms and parasites from the body. Below are effective natural things that can expel worms and parasites from the body.

Papaya seeds: These seeds contain powerful compounds like caricin, Carpaine, and an enzyme called myrosin; these compounds kill parasites, contract the intestines, expel the toxins secreted by these parasites as waste products and reduce inflammation caused by the waste products of these worms.

You can eat fresh pawpaw seeds gotten from the fruits and you can also take dry pawpaw seeds with yogurt.

Cucumber seeds: These are effective in removing tapeworm from the digestive tract; this is due to their rich content of enzymes. Eat lots of these seeds daily until you get the desired result.

Pineapples: The bromelain contained in this fruit helps in expelling tapeworms from the body; it also expels the waste products and free radicals produced by these worms, it also starves these worms by reducing the amount of glucose available to them.

Cloves: The active compound in this herb is Eugenol; it is regarded as the most powerful germicide in the plant kingdom; it contains another compound called caryophyllene which is a strong antimicrobial agent.

These compounds kill parasites, along with their eggs and larvae.

FamilyExamining The “wife Material” Ideology by Uranus1(op): 2:01am On May 12, 2018
If you spend any amount of time engaging others on relationships and marriage, you may get the sense that there is only one acceptable kind of wife. She looks a certain way , behaves a certain way , and is great at certain things. Any woman who does not fit into this mould is not “wife material ”.
In reality , nothing could be farther from the truth . There are many different kinds of women and, as such , many kinds of wives. No one “type ” is superior to the other .
You hear “a wife should be this ” or “this is what wives do” with little or no room to acknowledge the fact that, even though there are basic similarities , women ( and wives) are not all the same .
Some women like to have guests over, cook and entertain . Others prefer their solitude and want to keep their home as a private haven . In the same vein, some women are domestic goddesses who enjoy doing housework , while others prefer to pay someone to handle the housekeeping .
Some women are high achievers on the path to being shining stars and dominating their industries . Whereas the right husband will be proud of her, she will not be valuable in the eyes of a man only looking for a wife to cook , clean and wash for him . Then, there is the woman for whom feeling secure is the number one priority . She wants to marry a man who knows to provide for and take care of her , even if she is also bringing money to the table .

A woman may particularly like the finer things in life and will prefer for her man to provide them for her . A man who marries her without understanding this may label her materialistic.
Many assume that all women are romantic , but this is not so . Some women excel at being realistic, prudent and practical . What they lack in romance and affection , they make up for in capability and shrewdness . A man who does not prize these qualities will keep comparing her to other women . But , this same woman will be an asset to a man who needs and appreciates her great qualities .
Not all wives can skillfully get great bargains or find cheaper alternatives of good quality. There are women who will take excellent care of their man and run a home as long as money is no object . They simply don’t know how to budget or be frugal. There is certainly a kind of man they have no business marrying.
“Wife material ” is not a popsicle mould into which every woman must pour herself.

HealthTraditional Medicine And Cure For Malaria by Uranus1(op): 5:10am On May 11, 2018
It was very interesting to hear officials of the Federal Government of Nigeria announcing , the other day , the creation of a traditional medicine department in the Ministry of Health to find a cure for malaria.
According to the World Health Organisation ( WHO ) , traditional medicine is the sum total of all knowledge and practices , whether explicable or not, used in diagnosis , prevention and elimination of physical, mental or social imbalance and relying exclusively on practical experience and observations handed down from generation to generation , whether verbally or in writing . It encompasses all kinds of folk medicine, unconventional medicine and indeed any kind of therapeutical method that had been handed down by the tradition of a community or ethnic group. So , it is a cultural genre of medicine, which is common in various communities of the world.
In Nigeria , traditional medicine has developed in various communities in response to the health needs of the people . The British colonial masters brought in orthodox medicine and today , both systems of medicine exist in the country ; and they have the primary objective to cure , manage or prevent diseases and maintain good health .
Thus , various forms of therapies such as herbal medicine, massage , homeopathy, mud bath , music therapy , wax bath , reflexology , dance therapy , hydrotherapy , mind and spirit therapies, self - exercise therapies, radiation and vibration , osteopathy , chiropractice , aromatherapy, preventive medicine , radiant heat therapy , therapeutic fasting and dieting spinal manipulation , and psychotherapy are just a few elements of traditional medicine.
The custodians and administrators of the various forms of traditional medicine are popularly referred to as traditional healers . As WHO stated , a traditional healer is a person who is recognised by the community in which ( s) he lives as competent to provide health care by using vegetable , animal and mineral substances and certain other methods based on the social , cultural and religious background , as well as on the knowledge , attributes and beliefs that are prevalent in the community , regarding physical, mental and social well- being and the causation of disease and disability. They include herbalists , traditional birth attendants ( TBAs) , traditional surgeons and traditional medicinal ingredient dealers . So , traditional medicine has come to stay and has been recognised by WHO and even the African Union ( AU ) .
In fact, the AU summit of Heads of States and Governments which took place in Maputo , Mozambique in July 2003 endorsed the African Traditional Medicine Day and WHO instituted 31 August for the commemoration . Even as far back as 31 st of August , 2009, the World Health Organisation Ethiopia Country Office hosted the celebration of the Fifth African Traditional Medicine Day with a half - day panel discussion and exhibition of products of research on traditional medicine at the Conference Hall of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa ( UNECA ) . Furthermore , in 1996, the WHO published ( WHO Policy and Activities in the Field of Traditional Medicine) that in China , the ratio of medical doctors to the population stood at 1 : 20 ,000 compared with traditional practitioners ratio of 1 : 2000, and in Swaziland, these figures are 1 : 10 ,000 and 1 : 100 respectively . These are pointers to the fact that Africa should look in the direction of traditional medicine for home grown solutions to health care .
Therefore, the so -called creation of a traditional medicine department in the Federal Ministry of Health ( FMoH ) to champion researches into the discovery and application of traditional medicine for health care is a needless duplication of efforts , as there already exists a parastatal of FMoH that can handle that assignment . The parastatal is the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development ( NIPRD ) , which was established to carry out R& D of drugs , biological products and pharmaceutical raw materials based on indigenous resources, with its Board of Governors having representatives from the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria ( PSN ) , the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturer ’s Association of Nigeria ( PMG -MAN) , Traditional Medicine Practitioners , FMH and Federal Ministry of Science and Technology ( FMST ) . What is needed is for FMoH to re - energise it instead of creating a new department .
Notwithstanding , it is heart- warming that the search for malaria cure is the first focal area in the new drive for the use of traditional medicine in Nigeria , because nine out of 10 persons are at risk while about 66 per cent of all clinical attendance is due to malaria. So , it is obvious that it is relevant to the majority of Nigerians . Discovering traditional cure for malaria is possible because in Ethiopia and Western Kenya , studies have shown that the use of mosquito repellent plants in and around residential areas , which also beautify the environment and freshen the airs control malaria Nigeria can learn from these countries . Again some proponents of traditional medicine believe that it is a natural course that where a disease is prevalent, there is a traditional cure .
Furthermore, most Nigerians , especially those living in rural communities do not have access to orthodox medicine and it is estimated that about 75 per cent of the populace still prefer to solve their health problems consulting traditional healers and that many rural communities have great faith in traditional medicine.
While it is important that government allocates the resources needed for the search for malaria cure , the leadership of this initiative should ensure that the money budgeted is used judiciously . Furthermore, since anecdotal evidence suggests that there are tradition medications for malaria and no one is reinventing the wheel, FMoH and NIPRD should undertake scientific research to generate evidences for the safety , efficacy and quality of the traditional medicinal products and practices, particularly those on malaria. This department can also work with states that have established traditional medicine boards because what is needed now is stepping up action in the area of “research and development ” to modernise and standardise them ; and working with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control ( NAFDAC ) and PMG -MAN for good manufacturing practices in order to ensure stable and well- preserved products , uniform and accurate dosage and properly - labelled herbal medicines. Herbalists should also be encouraged to register their proven and efficacious standardised herbal preparations with NAFDAC, while NAFDAC should ensure that the medical products discovered undergo rigorous scientific analysis /clinical test before being endorsed for use.
Finally, there is also the need for collaboration among relevant institutions for the seamless integration of traditional medicine proven to be safe and effective into the health system ; development of regulation and guidelines for the control of traditional medicines, training of technical personnel working in research , controlling activities and the conservation of medicinal plants , especially those facing extinction due to over- use, bush burning , drought and urban development .

With partners who have trust issues, come some difficulty which can be overcome with time and enough loving.
In a generation that quickly wants to dump and move on to the next, it’ll be refreshing to be the partner who tries to help another move beyond some insecurity and imperfection as opposed to giving up on them in the search for perfection.

1. Be trustworthy
It’s a no-brainer, right? You cannot help someone forget something if you keep bringing it back to their consciousness.

HealthHow To Manage Muscle Pull Or Strain by Uranus1(op): 1:53am On May 08, 2018
Muscle strain is an injury to the muscle caused by strenuous activity. It is sometimes referred to as muscle pull. Almost anyone can put undue tension on muscles while performing his or her daily tasks.

Causes and Risk Factors

Some activities, including sport, that can increase the risk of muscle strain. It can be triggered by a sudden acceleration or deceleration and by throwing or lifting heavy objects, among other actions.

It is possible to strain any muscle that moves bones. Commonly strained muscles include the lumbar muscles, muscles of the thigh, abdominal muscles, biceps muscles, triceps muscles, adductor muscles, quadriceps muscles of the thigh, triceps muscles, calf muscles, upper back muscles, neck muscles, the intercostal muscles and muscles of the chest.

Symptoms and Signs

Swelling, bruising or redness, or open cuts as a result of the injury.

Pain in the affected muscle at rest.

Pain when the specific muscle or the joint in relation to that muscle is used.

Weak sensation of the associated muscle or tendons.

Inability to use the affected muscle at all.

Muscle spasm, muscle cramping, muscle weakness, and bruising may occur.

Diagnosis

The doctor will take the medical history of the patient and perform a physical examination. The examination is generally all that is needed for diagnosis and it can help to establish whether the muscle is torn or not.

A higher degree or grade of strain (grades 1-3) may take a longer time to heal, require a possible surgery and a more complicated recovery. X-rays, CT, MRI or laboratory tests are often not necessary unless there is a history of trauma or evidence of infection.

Treatment

Muscle strain typically involves varying degrees of injury to tiny blood vessels. The effects of swelling or local bleeding into the muscle can best be managed early by applying ice packs to close the blood vessels and by maintaining the strained muscle in a relaxed, stretched position.

Heat can be applied to further relax the muscle when the swelling has lessened. Always use a protective covering such as a towel between the ice or heat and the skin. Protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (known as the PRICE formula) help the affected muscle.

HealthThe Complicated Relationship Between Shaku Shaku And Drug Abuse by Uranus1(op): 2:38am On May 07, 2018
There have been instances in recent history where trendy vices were used as tools to promote equally trendy subcultures in music . Arguably the longest and most destructive of these relationships began over a decade ago , between internet fraud and a very popular dance move that reportedly started on Lagos Island .
Olu Maintain released his monster hit Yahoozey in 2007 . The song was the most blatant and over -the -top celebration of internet crime in pop culture up to that point. There had been references to ‘Yahoo - Yahoo ’ floating around for years , such as Nkem Owoh ’s satirical Chop Your Dollar for the Osuofia movie series ( 2003 ) , but it was the former Maintain singer that truly put a cool stamp on internet fraud.
Olu shared the open secret of the Nigerian underworld with the rest of the country , and made the dance so popular that former US Secretary of State , Colin Powell , made the ill -advised move to perform it with him on stage . In the years that followed , other artists like Kelly Hansome went on to turn internet fraud- inspired music from a moment into a subculture and the recent success of 9 ice ’s Living Things — where the singer showered praises on alleged internet fraudsters — is proof that it’ s still alive today .
In some ways , Shaku Shaku is to 2017/ 18 what Yahoozey was in 2007 / 08 ; a dance movement so popular that, in only a few months, it has broken new artistes , given older artistes new life and created an entire subculture out of thin air . But the Agege-born dance movement is in danger of having one more characteristic with its tainted predecessor, and that’ s being tethered to another stubborn societal vice : this time, its drug abuse.
Nigeria has a drug problem ; the twin challenges of availability and abuse are decades old , but recently seem to have been exacerbated among millennials . With marijuana and its variants becoming increasingly more socially acceptable and hard drugs like cocaine and heroin heavily stigmatized and out of the reach of the common man , the drugs at the heart of the recent surge are low - priced prescription medicines , particularly Codeine and Tramadol .
Codeine and Tramadol are both opiates prescribed for pain relief. In drug culture, they are considered ‘downers ’ because they have a sedating effect on the user . Codeine is also a cough suppressant and is the chief component of many types of cough syrups . It is natural and derived from the poppy plant, tramadol , on the other hand , is synthetic .
Both drugs are called opiates because , when taken, they bind to the brain ’s opioid receptors – the part responsible for controlling pain, reward and addictive behaviors. That ’s the reason why users of either drug could easily become addicted. Besides being addictive , when overdosed or taken in combination with other drugs , codeine and tramadol could cause seizures with brain damage , kidney damage , breathing difficulties, coma and, in some cases , death.
There ’ s a nationwide black market for the drugs. According to government reports , millions of bottles of codeine are consumed illegally every day , and the NDLEA routinely busts tramadol trafficking rings worth millions of dollars. Loose regulation means a bottle of cough syrup with codeine can be purchased on the street, or at a pharmacy without a proper prescription , for ₦1000 , and a 10 - tablet strip of 100 mg tramadol can be gotten for as little as ₦100 .
Early this week , the BBC released a documentary titled “ Sweet Sweet Codeine ” to highlight the codeine epidemic in Nigeria . Embarrassed , the FG reacted hastily by announcing a ban on the production of cough syrups containing the drug. But I ’m hopeful for a more holistic approach that would include discussions around complex topics like mental health , addiction and unemployment , and the promotion of drug use in pop culture.
By some accounts , shaku shaku ’s very history is rooted in drug use . According to DJ Real - the DJ widely credited for the rise of Small Doctor - shaku shaku was named after the way street urchins ( awawa boys ) danced after smoking large amounts of marijuana ( among other things ) . The ubiquitous dance then spread from the grimier parts of Agege to other parts of Lagos through uninhibited street parties.

Christianity Etc5 Habits That Are Destroying Your Faith In God by Uranus1(op): 2:28am On May 06, 2018
We take a look at five reasons why your faith is dwindling.

There are at least five habits that are capable of destroying any Christian’s faith in God.
They include:

Worrying
This is probably the most common one as almost everyone is guilty of it. Unfortunately, nothing good comes from worrying. What you get is diminished faith, instead.

James 1:6–8 tells us of the repercussions saying, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

In order to keep our faith in God, we need to choose faith over worry every single time.

No matter what tries to make us worry, we have to make the conscious decision to choose to trust God, His timing, His wisdom, and most importantly, His words, the scriptures(See Philippians 4:6).

Being cynical
Constantly expecting the worst to happen in an attempt to prepare yourself for the worst scenario kills your faith.

Being pessimistic instead of being optimistic eventually results in a faith-less Christian.

As believers, we need to be hopeful, not in our chances or people but in God because we need hope in 9rder to have faith (See Hebrews 11:1).

CareerGetting The Most Out Of Office Hours by Uranus1(op): 1:36am On May 05, 2018
Work hours are supposed to be productive, giving time for other activities when work ends. The habit of taking work home is not healthy.
Most people spend almost half their day at work and seem to achieve little or nothing. To get the most out of your working hours, you should:
Make a list of tasks every day. This helps you to see the big picture, and you can have an aim. Besides, crossing those tasks off is very satisfying.

Set important meetings in the morning, when you are most alert. You will be better able to come up with fresh ideas.

Start with the more difficult tasks and work your way down in decreasing order of difficulty. You will get a lot more done that way without the temptation to procrastinate.

Always finish one task before the next. You can accomplish more this way.

HealthFive Things A Cup Of Red Wine A Day Can Do For You by Uranus1(op): 1:21am On May 05, 2018
The Mediterraneans have, for centuries, consumed wine with their meals. Research shows that the Mediterranean diet-including moderate amounts of red wine is responsible for the relatively low incidence of heart disease and weight issues in their population.

However, these benefits are only viable when red wine is taken in moderation. This means one glass of wine daily for women and no more than two glasses for men.

Here are five great benefits of drinking a glass of red wine every day.

• Red wine contains a compound called resveratrol, which is contained in the skin of the red grapes used to produce red wine. Resveratrol promotes cardiac health and has been found to help in acne treatment.

• Resveratrol has also been connected with preventing several forms of cancer and promoting good eyesight.

• Omega-3 fatty acids contained in red wine help to protect the heart against plaque formation.

FashionGrowing Healthy Fingernails by Uranus1(op): 12:57am On May 05, 2018
Healthy nails are attractive and hygienic. Nails might seem like such a small part of our anatomy, but they are just as important as the hands they are attached to. The state of the nails can often reflect the state of the hands.

To grow longer nails that are strong and not prone to breakage, you should do the following:

• Stop biting. This is a bad habit that leaves you with chipped nails, and there are germs in and around the nails that can be transferred to the mouth, causing unsightly infections.

• Your nail cuticles and nail bed should be kept healthy in order to encourage nail growth.

PropertiesEko Atlantic City Ready In October 2019 – LASG by Uranus1(op): 2:16am On May 04, 2018
The Lagos State Government on Thursday said the phase six of the Eko Atlantic City would be completed in October 2019.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, stated this in Ikeja during the briefing of his ministry to mark the third anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration.

He said “the Nigeria’s premium rising smart city situated adjacent to Victoria Island” was designed to stand on 10 million square metres of land reclaimed from ocean and had six phases of implementation.

He said, “Phase one and two have already been completed with roads, potable water to the World Health Organisation’s standard, fibre optics advanced telecommunication facilities and over 10,000 trees planted the city.

“The new city emerging will change the aesthetics of the coastline and real estate market.’’

Adejare said work was progressing on the construction of nine jetties with shelter and shoreline protection, as well as channelisation of four new ferry routes to boost water transport in the state.

“The projects, upon completion, will help reduce pressure on road infrastructure,” he added.

The Commissioner said the first phase of the reclamation and protection of Badagry Marina involving shoreline protection had been completed, adding that within the last three years, the government completed the Epe Marina, reclamation of Lekki Foreshore scheme and Orange Island.

Family5 Wrong Ways To Apologise To A Partner by Uranus1(op): 2:25am On May 03, 2018
Nobody is perfect and it’s OK to make mistakes and offend your partner. However, the manner of your apology, and not just your decision to apologise will determine whether or not you’re forgiven, and whether your relationship will move forward or hit a snag at that stage.
Here are the wrong ways to apologize:

1. Point out they once did the same thing
It doesn’t matter if this person once did the same thing to you. When apologizing, no need to mention that.

2. Remind them of how good you’ve been
That you have been good for so long does not excuse you from apologizing and doing it right when you have messed up.

3. With a nasty tone
An apology doesn’t mean anything if you say it with attitude. People notice it if your words are “I’m sorry” but your tone is “Screw you.” The words aren’t enough. Tone is everything.

Politics2019: INEC Wants Candidates Subjected To Debate by Uranus1(op): 1:51am On May 03, 2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission has stated the importance of debates among candidates running for political offices in 2019.

The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this while delivering a speech titled, ‘The role of media in the Nigerian electoral process,’ at the 69th General Assembly of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria in Lagos on Wednesday.

Yakubu said the debates were a vital part of the democratic process as they helped to guide the decision of voters.

He said, “As a key player in the Nigeria Elections Debate Group, it is appropriate that BON and its members, in consonance with the practice in advanced and developing democracies, should remain in the forefront of efforts to institutionalise the practice of debate among candidates seeking political office in Nigeria.

“Such debates are necessary for deepening democracy by promoting civil discourse and providing a platform for candidates to articulate their positions on public policy issues. They also allow the public to judge aspiring candidates for political office under pressure and evaluate their arguments in competition with other candidates.

“Debates also serve an important role of demonstrating to the aspiring candidates that democracy is about standing before the public and answering their questions.”
