This Corolla is in a class of its own. The reason is that buyers of this car spans several age category. Single Young chaps on the come up love it. Young family (1- 3kids). Single female, married female, older people etc. It "fits" into just any category of family structure you can think of hence the higher demand. And the resale value is fantastic. People that paid about N1.3m about 2 yrs ago are now asking N1.1m-1.2m to sell used! and they are getting at least N1m Fuel consumption is EXCELLENT!. Better than Camry Its what it is. the market dictates. Close eye and buy if u can afford it |
kingreign:I did not know the OP from anywhere nor did i cause this problem. Either way it goes, it matters less to me. I am a car dealer and have been for a while, my job is to give my opinion and he can chose on his own. I AM STILL A BUSINESS, THIS IS NOT RED CROSS. Wouldn't it be more crazy if i say i am doing this for free? When NEPA take light, did the petrol station give you diesel for free? Nail puncture your tire and tire shop fix for free?. Someone caused this problem and it will cost the owner either way. Sell vehicle AS-IS or repair. Nobody will buy like run/drive car and just minus the cost of the engine. And to get the engine, its not cheap. That is why i was hoping that the engine matches older model years. If he can solve his problem by spending $2 why make him spend $5? Numbers are as objective as they come, I quoted $5k (ALL INCLUSIVE) and the closest one is about $4,200 without shipping. He can compare with any other one he has gotten so far and compare. So what is my offense? He is free to chose whatever he wants to do with his car but i take offense when i see people trying to make him sell to them at a price which you cannot even get a pencil camry! |
bravolad:I think its high time everyone desist from badgering the owner on what he should do with his car. He surely will have many options he can choose from. He need a clear mind and peace to decide. What if the country situation does not improve but HIS situation improves, then what? God's time ......... Also, i don't think insurance guards against these type of losses (Except he has repair contract insurance.) Even at that, they sure wont cover driver's neglect or carelessness. |
Must everything be killed? |
crestedguy:Remember its still someone else property regardless of the condition. YOU NEED PERMISSION before you go and crush it. There might still be parts from underneath that is useful. Few bodyparts are still good. The owner or dealer who owned it might want to see that its truly damaged before you crush it. Crushing ain't that easy pal! |
what happened to the VIN? |
what is LRU? Those guys in blazers |
woodcook:I don't have but one thing i want u to know is that the clearing thru Cotonue and Lagos is not very different. Most importers will rather bring to Lagos as opposed to Cotonue. so my advise is that you don't close your mind to the ones you see in Lagos. Good luck in your search |
Lexusgs430:Too late now. Does nothing but blew a ginormous hole in the pocket of the owner. He is either too stupid or too careless to know what is going with the car he is driving. Either way, he is gotta go. Owner is in a big dilemma, fix or cut loose? Expensive decision either way. |
You don't necessarily have to be very stringent but the gauge cluster are there for a reason! What gets me is that the driver ignored it! |
Pls post the VIN number as soon as you can. I will like to help you cross check and hopefully, it will be compatible with the older 2003-2006 engines. That way, your cost of repairs will be lower. I will be bummed if a nice car like this ended up being abandoned |
Matters Arising! This is na serious one ooo. How does a driver keep driving a beautiful car like this despite all the warnings and saying that he thought it wasn't working? Let the seller of the engine send you the picture of the engine he is trying to sell you as well. Post it and we shall all see it. And like someone said, tow the car home in a secure location so that they don't bastardize it. Good luck out there |
@ Denn, I get exactly what you are saying. The poster is not a mechanic. he saw an offer. And most likely it will be the only offer out there. I dont think there are several V12 BMW engines just all over Ladipo. If he is lucky he will find 1 or 2. Knowing how rare it is, seller will most likely sell on his own terms cos he is the only game in town (and he knows it). Possibility of being for a 2007 BMW 760I? That's the unknown (Anything is possible) You can pick and chose when choices is plentiful, but not when its only a handful of the vehicle is sold in the 1st place. Once again, 760IL's are rare breed. People don't just buy them, you SEEK them! No one buys such a car out on a whim without knowing why he is paying $130,000 plus applicable taxes which could set it to like $150k We all have a front row seat and we are watching. OP can post the pics of the engine he wants to buy, we can all see physically even if its for the same era of V12 engines. It could be for late 90's model. |
Denn:Getting refunds SEVERALLY at Ladipo is a WISHFUL THINKING at best. Please hear me, i am not saying the claim is false but i PERSONALLY have yet to encounter it. No matter the relationship with the vendor. The good ones will let you exchange without paying extra. Otherwise they will come up with stories why you have to pay more for the other part (even when its cheaper) especially if the part belongs to another seller. Full REFUND ? N650k ![]() |
mandmis007:The one i posted is for 2007. Like i mentioned, IT SEEMS that 2007 engine is different from the others. A VIN number will be the best to verify. You take the VIN to the dealer and they will see which engine was installed. They will then cross check if the same engine is installed in other years as well. Engines are cheaper for older year models. Don't just be asking that you want a BMW V12 engine, compare the pics and BE SURE ITS APPLICABLE TO YOUR MODEL YEAR! The 2008/2009 models of the engines are running like almost $8500. A 2003 model is much much cheaper. The V12 in the 1988 - 90's models BMW750 can be had for as little as $1500. I really hope that you can find a cheaper alternative, either way you go make not a whole lot of different to me. But whatever you pay for has to work. 760LI's are not very common and few are sold each year like someone else mentioned. THEY ARE THE ONLY BMW MODELS WITH V12 ENGINES (For someone talking that they share same parts with other cars). These engines are built to almost last forever, unless someone is careless with them, they don't damage for no reason. And the only way to come across one is from damaged vehicles. May be they have (or do not have at Ladipo) i wouldn't know. Just be sure that you are paying for the right item. Good luck! |
Only the VIN will tell and i will go to the dealership for the last word. No need to argue |
mandmis007:See if he can give you a guarantee. From my little findings the V12 is same thing from 2003-2006. Different for a 2007. Yours is a 2007 You can post the VIN for your vehicle, i will stop by the BMW dealer later in the week to see if it possible that 2003-2006 can work. From my little understanding, its not the same. You need to be sure before you buy cos the brainbox will be different to control it. |
Lexusgs430:$5,000 is the total cost to deliver to Nigeria. Ships from the USA. Its all in perspective, a car that cost $130,000 new will have an expensive part. Even the 5.7L 2008/9 Tundra Engines costs between $3-$4k. Nothing higher than the 760IL under the BMW badge. Same V12 engines used on some Bentley (which costs like $200k). Its all relative |
mayor2013:Its not for the faint of heart. Someone called me a while ago looking for the shocks on a 760il limousine (European Spec). Its air shocks. I went into the dealership and its like $1,100 EACH!! the back ones. Did not hear from him again Better to drive the Landcruisers and 4Runners |
mayor2013:Not really. 760i is the MOST luxurious and most expensive vehicle made by BMW. They are about $135,000 New. Expensive car = Expensive part especially when you are talking about the most important part of the car - The ENGINE Owner should have be more careful. These engines are not supposed to just pack up unless someone was not being too careful somewhere |
I just looked into it, the best i can get you the engine from the USA is $5,000 NON-NEGOTIABLE!!!! |

What is the year of your BM? Better if you have the VIN. I am based here in Jacksonville, Florida. I will look into how much it will cost you to buy and ship down. They are not common engine nor cheap and heavy as you can imagine. whatsapp me on 07054773686 Regards |
zepho:Point well taken. If Naira appreciates, it even makes it worse "investment" cos then it will be about $200k equivalent (let's say it appreciates to N300/$). But N60m or this house with average workmanship at best. Horrible compound. I know its Lagos but God help. No matter the reason of investing in a real estate, what good does it do if you can recoup your money quicker. Unless you have a sentimental reason of buying the house. This is just a building being advertised, no sentiments here. |
Meanwhile a $150,000 house equivalent in the US, lets say charges about $1,300 per month, deduct $300 for expenses, taxes etc will recoup the money in about 12.5yrs Anybody with primary school arithmetic should know where to stay and invest |
The way properties are being priced is somewhat scary. If this house charges rent of 500k, it will take 20yrs to recoup the investment. Forget upkeep and maintenance. God help us |
Mining/Exploration of minerals requires serious financial commitment and the expertise that goes along with it. That is why its easier for a private entity like Dangote to dabble into it as opposed to a state govt. A private firm can take control of the activities and make sure its profitable regardless of who is n the govt. Anything run by the govt does not have the tendency to survive and be profitable especially when govt changes administration. The new govt might not believe in spending money on exploration and be too concerned with looting. That is why MTN and others are profitable and NITEL is not. That is why Delta and others are chugging along and Nigeria Airways is nowhere to be seen. Even when Nigeria partners with Virgin Airlines, its still a flop cos of the way we run business. Any company interested will have to count the cost. Machinery will be in the millions and they have to bring experts. Can they guarantee their safety? With Boko Haram and others everywhere. As soon as a big company comes in, all these locals have to be dislodged. Soon you will have people grumbling that a foreign entity is taking over their land (Don't forget its the same people crying few years ago for foreign investors). How will the wealth be shared equitably? So that it does not go only to the big guys? What role will the govt play in the partnership? Will it be "monkey dey work...... For the govt only want to sit around and collect returns without any tangible contribution. The company will be responsible for housing its staff, security of its staff etcIf a company comes in today and sign a MOU with the current govt for 15% return and they begin, what happens if the next govt got greedy and demand 50%? They are already in too deep to pull out. Nigeria has not legal framework that i know that can protect the investor. Corrupt judges everywhere!!! Anyone that will invest millions will want a way to have it back on way or the other. This is business, not charity. And after all is said and done, they have to test the soil to make sure what they will extract will worth all the effort and investment!!! This goes beyond just bringing in equipment, its the political climate. |
Its easy to say how much they generate, there is also another side of the coin: HOW MUCH THEY SPENT IN MAN HOURS TO PROCESS IT. Regardless of how you feel about the transparency/fairness of the American Visa process, one thing still remain clear: They put in some work in processing every visa application. That requires efforts and time to document and make finding about the information on the application. Just my 2 cents |
i think its a bad idea to try and install a 120v outlet. You are better doing everything in 240v. if power improves fine. if not, you can always get a 240v invert-er. Also, a nice diesel powered gen still beats a natural gas all day especially in Nigeria. Carson, California is the headquarters for MQ generators. Whisperwatt series. Or if you feel like splurging you can get KWIET/Shindaiwa gens. One of the quietest out there. Just my 2 cents |
it will be hard. thats barely $8k buy, ship and clear? Hmmm |
. This change no reach USA. Abi has the fear of Donald trumph started coming into play
