Year: 2005 Make/Model/Trim: Toyota Sequoia Limited VIN: 5TDZT38A35S259521 Mileage: 68k miles Reason for Sale: Upgrading Location: Lagos (Ogba / Ifako Area) Price: N2.2m (Asking) My Contact: Kunle (0705-477-3686) Owner's Contact: Tunde (0708-422-2279) This vehicle belongs to a childhood friend /customer of mine. It’s a 2005 Toyota Sequoia that was bought in 2008. Even though I have been involved in auto business (part time basis) in the US for over 15 years (obtained my dealers license in 2007), I have much found memory of this vehicle cos it’s the 1st pre-order I did to Nigeria. Vehicle was purchase with about 36k miles. Clean title all the way. Exceptionally clean car as well. We installed roof DVD and brand new tires before shipping. See the pics. Owner seldom drives the car. Mileage is now at 68k miles. Car has never been repainted. Although there are few “bruises” all over but its still outstanding for a Lagos car. The vehicle is on its first sets of tires after it was shipped from California in 2008. What need to be fixed/addressed: Power Steering belt/pump. Its loud when you start in the morning but quiets down as soon as you rev up the car. The rear door handle is broken. Side molding on the right side is broken.(See Pics) There is a replacement but not installed. Rear lower bumper (right side) is dented There was a short circuit about 2 years ago. Battery shifted and touched a metal clamp. It now causes the warning light to come on sometimes it goes off if you shake and wiggle the battery wire. It does not affect the car’s performance at all. Owner now drives it regularly. We actually met in Ibadan over the weekend at an Owambe party. That’s when I took the pics at a car wash.Let me know if you have any other question(s). DO NOT!!!! if you car is running fine keep it that way. US cars are designed to handle temperature greater than what you can even find here in Nigeria. Don't let quark mechanics destroy your ride. Good luck out there |

Personally, if it were my money, i will not buy any on this list. if left to me, i will go for a 2006/2007 4 Runner possibly with a 3rd row seat. NIGERIA IS A TOYOTA COUNTRY!!!! MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT!!!! If for the size you crave, you can consider a Sequoia. Thats my take. Good luck out there. |
get the corolla. better resale value down the road. also slightly higher on the ground that any of your choices Good luck |

exper_i: Let's look at this from an unbiased point of view. Yes Boson payed ICME for a car. At the point of consideration (Which is an exchange of something of value between the oferee and the oferor... which in this case is cash) the contract was to supply a particular kind of car. Now, the buyer breached the contract by requesting for another car AFTER payments have been made on a particular kind of car. Now... That's the first breach of contract. The Buyer backed out cos he found out the car is not what was described/represented. Seller did not disclose the true nature of the car. Whether willfully or otherwise, it does not matter at this point. That is why Mr Boson is backing out. Either way you look at it: Legally or Morally, the buyer is right. Would you trust a seller to provide you something else when you already caught him in a lie? Money is not easy to come by you know. |
Mr ICME, You are beginning to undermine your own credibility and possible future dealings. Why does a buyer has to wait for a whole month to get his refund? He doesn't have his money nor the car. Yet he has to wait. What happens to simple integrity? Remember, people are like water, we always flow and WE WILL MEET. Will you give him a car to drive pending you returning his deposit? Or how does it sound fair to you? My suggestion is this: Give him a post dated check for the day you want him to cash the check and there will be no going back and forth. Your credibility is SERIOUSLY AT STAKE (Hopefully you still have some)and the credibility of the Auto Forum. Lots of people are reading both home and abroad. You will be hurting yourself. If not now, but in the long run. |
What is the Zip code located in Dallas. i can give you a breakdown and ship for you. Regards |
i would imagine that the resale value of sienna will be better that that of Quest. just a tot |
Lets see the link |
If you can get your agent to clear it, you should be fine. I will advise that you get it containerised though. much safer. they will let you pay comparable duty in the current year model. You possibly will pay the duty for like a 1999 impala or so. What engine are you running? 350 or 454? |
Stay away from the 4 cylinder engine. Only get the V6 for that year Good luck |
Any one of the year is fine. I will suggest that you buy the best car you can buy for you budget. What i mean is that is you budget can get you a SUPER CLEAN 2000 get it as opposed to getting a not so clean 2003/2004. Either way you go, they are all reliable. STAY AWAY FROM 2005 BY ALL MEANS just that you know. Good luck out there. |
txswat: I know my idea might not be widely popular but I believe it'll bring more integrity and confidence to potential automobile buyers on nairaland. I think sellers should post VIN for every car listed for sale. If there is nothing to hide then I really don't see why it should be an issue. Even though there is a "buyer beware" rule I think it'll help when buyers have more information at their finger tips than having to BEG sellers for the info. The idea is not bad nor new. Anyone on this forum long enough would have known that the idea was practiced and enforced about 4 yrs ago. It is a time consuming effort (not to mention emotionally draining) to keep tracking/policing every ad to see if the VIN is posted or for how long the VIN has/has not been posted. The truth is that high percentage of cars imported into Nigeria is salvaged (i will put it around 80% if you ask me). Going by that odds, its safe to assume that the car you are looking at is POSSIBLY salvaged. While we cannot throw the baby away with the bathwater, the next question is trying to determine how bad is the salvage to see if the function-ability of the car will be affected/not. If you have to be begging, dragging the issue of a VIN with a seller, i will say you just move to something else. Means that the seller is neither ready, able nor willing to sell. Even if the VIN is provided and its clean, ALWAYS DO THIS BEFORE YOU PAY: Conduct an inspection of the car with a QUALIFIED Mechanic ( or someone experienced). Verify the VIN provided versus what is on the car. Some "smart" dealers have been known to provide a VIN of a clean ride different from what they are selling. Similar to providing a different picture of a car and you show up looking at a completely different and beat up car. Always go with your gut feelings. There are only VERY FEW (IF ANY) fairy tales/tales by the moonlight in life. If its too good to be true, it probably is. Someone looking for a clean title / non accidented fresh TOKS 2009/2010 Camry with leather for N2m will be duped in no time if not careful But hey this is Nairaland, there are so many "KEYBOARD SUPER HEROS" floating around. At the end of the day, its still... "Buyers Beware" Goodluck out there. |
