I very much agreed with much of the post. However, we still have to keep everything in context. In Nigeria, everything is different. The idea of spending millions of Naira for a tow truck is not practical if you are going with the thinking of the tow operators. Why do that when you can find an old Landcruiser or Nissan Patrol to convert and be in business. All under N500k! Even you will count yourself "lucky" to get a tow truck in critical time in this country. Don't eve n begin talking about the cost! If you have to be towed like in the picture, it comes down to the speed. Anything under 60km / hr should be fine. Otherwise you MIGHT ruin your drivetrain. Good luck out there |

Turn Signal mirror is only for European/Dubai/Naija (Honda Place) spec Accord. US Spec DID NOT have it. Good luck in your search. |

This is a TR-100 Terex Rigid Truck (100 Ton Capacity) going down the road on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday May 19th 2012 evening. Each Truck is well over $1m. The Caterpillar version sells for close to $1.5m. They are 5 in Number These truck are used mainly in mines / Quarry and will never see the street for most of their entire life. Just too big for normal roads. I was very giddy to see these Monsters on the road. i had to stop and take some pics. Lots of traffic cos cars can barely pass and there are no lorry that can pass at all. Very close to Ibadan toll gate. Lovely to see. On one hand i was happy to see these type of money flowing in this country. On the other hand, i am not, knowing that PROBABLY these trucks MAY not be owned by a Nigerian Entity / Individual. In short the full option - My price range is 1m to 1.5mWith all due respect, you MIGHT not be ready to drive a 4Runner. You should be looking to shell out about N2m to drive one of those. Or at least a non- problematic one. To clear in Lagos alone will run you about N330 - N350k. Shipping / Trucking and Prepping will set you back for around N250k. That's plus/minus N600k. And you were looking at a budget of N1m? Or N1.5? even a 2000 Camry will cost about N1.3m for a really good one. Not to speak of 4Runner. N2m and you have yourself an excellent one. For ports like Baltimore, the wait time to get loaded is roughly 2-3 weeks after you deliver the car to the port. This is the time that it takes the car to clear customs before getting the green light to leave. New York /New Jersey port can take like 4 weeks while Jacksonville takes like 1 week thereabout. If i am not mistaken (i stand to be corrected)All vehicles booked by any agent will have to be pre-paid by your agent to Grimaldi before allowed to sail. That means, your agent will either have to either pay partial / full for the cargo to Grimaldi before getting a space. The delay might be occurring if your agent is not bouyant enough to pay all booked cargos at once. That means he waits to collect on one before paying others. That is a possibility. It also makes a difference if your agent is the direct contract agent with Grimaldi or not. Most "AGENTS" are just sub - sub contractors. And where that makes a difference is when there are issues that arises. Your "agent" cannot call Grimaldi directly to iron things out. First of all, you NEED to know what you want. If you are not good with cars, get a GOOD mechanic. BE REALISTIC: Don't be like some of these clowns that come here looking for a 2006/2007 Honda Accord with full options for N1.3m. Thats not a realistic price or offer. If you find somebody that gives you and unbelievable offer, i GUARANTEE you that you will find yourself in an unbelievable situation rather quickly. If you wanna employ the service of someone who knows what to look for in customs paper, that won't hurt too. That's my 2 cents |
