I am just wandering that what's the fate of those that their visas were granted a week or two even days before the complete lockdown due to Covid 19. Some countries like France still issued Visas till end of March.

What's going to happen to those visas will it be cancelled or extended and if cancelled, will the applicant have to reapply with all new doc again and start all over from the beginning....

And if extended...does it apply to all types of visas? because according to a message on their website they extended visas already issued for all long term visa and any other relevant type of visa but they did not mention short term visa. Does it mean short term visa is not inclusive?

What should applicants do? Do they need to write to them or rather send a mail to them informing them about the reason why they are unable to use the visa and plead for an extension or they should just fold their arms and look.

Please I need your suggestions on this and travel experts too can also advice. This case is just so different and confusing.

How do couples with different spending patterns cope

my partner is driving me crazy, we have been fighting about everything that has to do with money, she is kinda of lavish and i am prudent. It is really frustrating, she sees me as a miser. She has this idea the higher the cost the more quality, but i know this is not necessary the case. at least from experience, i know how people inflate prices , i try to spend on actual value. I have sat her down and explained to her. How we should nt waste, she promises to change but next thing she is back to the basics.

I also think i may be partially responsible for this, during our courtship, i use to lavish her with very expensive gifts. which to me shd nt be a crime, I wasnt spending beyond my means and there is nothing wrong in giving your woman some exclusive treats once in a while what now bothers me is she expects the cinderella story will continue forever.

There was a day the argument got so intense, she began to say very uncool stuff, on hw she know i hate spending on her and always complain. i really felt hurt. She never looks at the big picture, it is always the most expensive stuff she wants, whenever we do anything.

Our counseling was rushed and proper attention wasnt given to finances and all, everyone just believes she is a well behaved girl. We just got married, I really dont know how i missed this earlier during courtship, but it really causing alot of whahala in our home. The funny part is most of this so called expenses are usually to be solely footed by me. My wife has not for one day called me to say she too will contribute this amount for this or that. I dont complain, or expect, where i have problem is when i decide to pay and she complains it is nt good enough. Am sure if her money was involved she would understand what i mean.

Currently i earn more than her, i found a temporary solution which is to keep her out of the financial decisions, Whenever. i want to buy stuff for the house I dont consult her anymore, i just go and buy the stuff and return home showing her i bought it, instead of the normal asking her which is better and she picks and we begin to fight and argue. This is temporal and actually not the best but what can i do? The fights are just getting to me.

When we started i used to expose her to how much I had and all and plans to maybe get a land and all and maybe start bulding. She knows how much i earn and all. but i dont think she is matured to handled some of these things. And i guess cos she knows of the money available (my saivngs) this is why she just goes for the most expensive and all and just acts lavish.

I had to lie to her that i was scammed of several of millions through MMM to make her forget about the available cash.

Just imagine the rubbish i have to go through.

See me see whahala , me and my own wife again.

Is anyone dating a partner with an opposite spending habit.

The Nigerian government says it would soon commence the recruitment of 500,000 graduates as teachers, in various institutions of learning across the country.

Minister of state for Education, Professor Anthony Anwuka gave this notification in an interview with Voice of Nigerian shortly after leading officials of the ministry to the defence of the 2016 budget before the senate committee on education.



The 500,000 recruitment policy for graduate teachers was part of the campaign promises of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2015 Presidential election, and the Minister of state for Education insists that the government is not going back on its promise to Nigerians.

“Those who are not qualified, they will be recruited may be given a provisional appointment but they must attend the training required to be in our classrooms. So, from now on, if you are not qualified to be a teacher, by our preparation to be a teacher, you will not be in our classroom. So if you are aspiring to be employed under the present 500,000 teachers’ appointment scheme then you must acquire a teaching qualification in order to benefit but if you don’t acquire it, then you must go for a training to qualify before you benefit from the project.”

On measures being put in place to ensure that the policy succeeds, Professor Anwuka who is also a former Vice Chancellor of the Imo state university in south east Nigerian said, “We are working on it because we now have new hands on deck. Be assured that we would work on it to the satisfaction of Nigerians,” he stressed.

He reiterated Federal government’s commitment to repositioning the tertiary education sub-sector in order to meet specific needs of the dynamic world. Professor Anwuka assured Nigerians that the teachers’ recruitment exercise was part of measures to provide quality education to the citizenry.

Personnel Proposal

Meanwhile, the Senate committee also queried a =N=10 billion increment in the 2016 Personnel Proposal of parastatals in the education sector as against =N=88, 199,311,758 appropriated in 2015.

The senate questioned why =N=98, 181,570, 230 was proposed for parastatals in the 2016 budget proposal, while Personnel Proposals of institutions like Unity schools and universities were reduced.

The Chairman of the committee, Senator Aliyu Wamakko expressed displeasure at a situation where schools were losing while parastatals were gaining. He therefore directed the ministry officials to return at a later date to give a better explanation on why parastatals were given priority over schools.

“We will give you time to get us detailed answer because I am not comfortable with the answer given. Find time and give us detailed information about this. This must be addressed carefully,’’ he said.

Senator Wammakko said the committee would not rest on its oars in ensuring that the education sector, particularly the institutions met global education standard.

He expressed the senate’s readiness to ensure early release of funds to all the sectors to enable them implement the various projects itemized in the proposal.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who provided clarifications on some of the issues raised by the Senators, explained that the figures presented by the ministry were submitted by the various parastatals and institutions in the ministry.

She further explained that the variance in the proposals depended on the number of people enrolled in Personnel and Payment Information System (IPPIS).

“The variance depends on the number of people that still exist in (IPPIS). So it is an automatic thing that as people retire, automatically the balance comes down. So if they are not replaced by new staff then we have this variance, it is not that we lost some money.

This is an aggregate of all the parastatals, we will check to know which one has the increase or if there is marginal increase across board because what we have done is to put together all the parastatals.”

The 2016 budget defence exercise for all MDAs continues with their relevant Senate committees for the next two weeks.

Afolabi Imoukhuede, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Job Creation and Youth Employment, at the flag-off of the Construction Skills Training and Empowerment Programme (C-STEMP), in Abuja early last week said the Federal Government plans to train 370,000 artisans this year to boost skills development and employment generation.

“The Federal Government has plans to train 370,000 artisans this year…It has already been decided. We have had a fruitful discussion on it with the Vice President and relevant ministers and we are looking forward to working with the C-STEMP to achieve the goal,” Imoukhuede stated.

C-STEMP is an initiative of J.Hausen Nigeria, a construction management consultancy firm that is aimed at training qualified manpower and artisans in the construction industry.

Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing reiterated the Federal Government’s promise to address the shortage of indigenous artisans as foreigners are being shipped in to do the job.

According to Fashola, the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing would benefit from the skill acquisition training as it already had training centres in Lagos and Imo State.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) in collaboration with Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) is set to train and certify 200,000 artisans this year.

Tijani Shuaib the President of the NIOB said the empowerment programme was aimed at developing a pool of well trained and qualified manpower for the housing and construction industry, and that the training is targeting 2 million artisans over the next 5 years.

“NIOB is ready to commence training, assessment and certification of the Building Craftsmen and Artisans in collaboration with CORBON and the DFID sponsored C-STEMP. We have developed and validated a National Occupational Standards for the key building construction trades, Masonry, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical installation, Painting and Decoration among others,” he said.

He said the lack of skills in the Nigerian construction sector has become a trend in Nigeria that is worrying the regulatory bodies and stressed the need to train building artisans and craftsmen.
