.....10,000 Man March In Solidarity Of Gov. Udom's Presidential bid and succession plan set to hold at the capital city.

Traders in Akwa-Ibom state have also concluded plans to down tools on Saturday, close down all shops for a mega rally in Uyo in what is to be a show of support for Gov. Udom Emmanuel's Presidential bid and Pastor Umo Eno's ambition for the hilltop mansion seat.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, in uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, President of the Akwa Ibom State Traders Association, Mr. Idorenyin Raphael said the call was necessitated by the Governor's track record of performance so far in less than 7 years as Governor.

He explained that Nigeria at the moment needs a leader in the mould of Mr. Emmanuel with proven track records of performance, competence, credibility and capacity to fix its cracks and restore the country.

Raphael who also doubles as the South/South & South-East Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Traders as well as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Matters, disclosed that the traders had carried out a thorough appraisal of the contenders for the nation's Number One seat, and came to the conclusion that Mr. Udom Emmanuel remains the best man for the job.

"Now, that Nigeria has challenges, now that Nigeria has a problem, we need such a performer in the person of Udom Emmanuel. We are asking him to run for the office of the President. He shoud not be silent, he has what it takes to transform Nigeria".

He described Governor Udom Emmanuel as the most traders- friendly Governor the state has ever produced, and lauded him for the N2billion business support and free interest loan he gave to the traders. Mr. Raphael hinted that another interest free loan to the tune of N4billion is underway for Akwa Ibom traders.

The Governor's aide described a leading Governorship aspirant in the build up to the 2023 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as 'the best for the State'.

Special Assistant on Entrepreneurial Development to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mrs. Meflyn Anwana, has charged students to embrace entrepreneurship and skills development, saying that it will help spur enterprising youths,
boosts start-up rate, increase the number of new jobs , proffer innovative solutions and fashion out strategies that will enable students community extend the frontiers of enterprise development.

Addressing students of both the University of Uyo and AkwaIbom State University, (Aksu) who converged for the Unveiling of the Uniuyo online market, an online platform built to facilitate entrepreneur-customer relationships and to promote goods and services of students. Mrs Anwana, while performing the unveiling to kick-start the training of 500 students on different entrepreneurial skills, educated the students on practical approaches to entrepreneurial growth and sustainability of businesses, while lauding the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration for revolutionary leadership that has not only weaved the infrastructure which has scaled the Akwa Ibom Economy, but has enabled ease of business, engendered a transcendental overture which has yielded commendable rise in the Human Development Index of the State, propelled the spirit of enterprise and jumpstarted latent entrepreneurial capacities in line with the Dakkada Philosophy.

Comedians in Akwa Ibom State under the aegis of Ibom Comedians Guild (ICG) have passed a vote of confidence on the person of Pastor Umo Eno, endorsing him as their candidate for the 2023 Governorship Election.

The endorsement was the highpoint of their general meeting held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The meeting had 36 persons in attendance, begining with the opening remark by the president, MC Mista, who commended the group for being the most coordinated entertainment sector group,making it a reference point for others. The occasion also afforded him the platform to present a calendar for the group's activities for the year 2022.

The meeting welcomed special appearances by the Special Assistants to governor on Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) and Project Monitoring, Godfada Uko who admonished the members and encouraged them to continue in the right path.

Following deliberations, the president having confirmed that every ICG member was positive with their support for Pastor Umo Eno, hereby moved a motion declaring their unwavering support for Pastor Umo Eno, which was seconded by Teddy Whyte.

After reeling our their plans for 2022, the president went further to inform the governor's aides of the unalloyed support ICG has for the governorship candidate who has been a pillar of support for the group, he reassured that ICG as a guild is 100% for Pastor Umo Eno.

Additional Exco members were sworn in by the SA on Entertainment, Utang Akwa Ibom, who later gave a short speech encouraging comedians to maximize their support for Pastor Umo Eno and also advised ICG members not to get involved in social media attacks. In responding to submissions, the SA said ICG being in support for Umo Eno doesn't stop any member from playing at other events.

Governor's aide and gospel musician, Godfada Uko commended ICG on the level of maturity and unity, he advised the guild to stand their ground concerning their support for Pastor Umo Eno who him refered to as God sent.

Etteh in his presentation urged the youths not to be afraid to dare in the positive direction, stressing that to succeed, a young person must dare.
"No one can stop a young man who dares to succeed. But first, to succeed, the young person must dare! It is in attempting the impossible that most people in life have become successful. The largest and most successful businesses in the world were founded by young people.


The former State House Member who was represented by a reputable youth leader, Mr Akan Etteudo further urged the youths to adhere strictly to Governor Udom Emmanuel's instructions on the need not to allow themselves to be manipulated by people to further their selfish political ambitions.

"May I charge you to beware of those asking you to take oaths no matter how much money they entice you with. Your future cannot be mortgaged for the transient desire of anyone", he added.

In an interactive session, a veteran Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike urged youths to keep developing their talents for maximum utilization, adding that ' your talent will always make people come for you' sighting an example of the famous Ikorodu boys.

Earlier in his speech, The project Supervisor of Save The youths Conference and Chief of Staff to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Tommy Enodien , appealed to the youths to start taking responsibility for their future.

"It is high time they stopped playing the blame game and dare the future. Daring the future simply means taking advantage of today, in order to influence our tomorrow", Enodien quipped.

Obong Akan Udofia has challenged private investors to help redeem the deplorable state of medical environmental in the country as a way of stemming the increasing brain drain ravaging the country.

Udofia, the CEO of Desicon Engineering Group, who was the chairman at a doctors’ meet in Uyo on Friday, November 26, 2021, decried the poor remuneration of doctors as well as the inhuman conditions some of them work.

The gathering was the 2021 NEC Meeting of the National Association of Government General Medical & Dental Practitioners ( NAGGMDP) with the theme: “Stemming the Tide of Brain Drain in Nigeria: The away Forward”.

In line with the theme, Udofia urged investors within and outside Nigeria to help salvage the situation as the brain drain was leading to devastating health implications on the populace.

Consequently, he said, while doctors’ brain drain results in Nigeria’s social and health losses, it unfortunately leads to the economic gain of the receiving countries.

“We must at this stage understand that government can’t do it alone. The only way we can tackle this monster (brain drain) today is to also involve the private sector in a partnership scheme. The private sector has to be a partner in what we are talking about. We also have to look for ways and means to invest in health education, particularly in the tertiary education side. We must give the medical practitioners the verve and the pride to maintain the love and the dignity of the profession”

He also said: “A lot of us do not understand that the working conditions of some of these doctors are, to say the least, very very unhealthy and unbecoming. It is as a matter of urgency that I will implore everyone of us outside government, even as a moral duty, to contribute our little to stem the brain drain. It affects our social and economic standing. Just like the name suggests, we are losing something, and we are losing it to somewhere else, to other countries. As ours (doctors) leave, it empowers their (other countries’) GDP and degrades our own GDP.

Udofia said it was important to act beyond “sit and talk” to ensure that our “health practitioners have a conducive environment, they must be duly remunerated commensurate to their education, commensurate to the kind of work they are doing. So that we do not have any more of our highly skilled doctors going out of this country to offer their services and by so doing depleting our social-economic standing”.

Udofia’s position was adopted by the Keynote Speaker, Barr Onofiok Luke, who spared time to thank the Desicon boss for leading the way, as a private investor, in helping to salvage the deplorable health situation.

He particularly made reference to Udofia’s recent commendable donation of N100million towards the building of a Teaching Hospital at the Akwa Ibom State University.

Udofia and Luke agreed that government cannot do it alone, even as they acknowledged Gov Udom Emmanuel’s enormous impact on the health sector in Akwa Ibom State

Billionaire businessman, Obong Akanimo Udofia, has paid glowing tributes to the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, while felicitating with the statesman on his 83rd birthday.

Udofia, the GMD of Desicon Group, a global leader in oil and gas, described Obong Attah as a committed, selfless and patriotic leader who, as governor, stopped at nothing to fight for the welfare of his people.

He recalled that aside from his numerous contributions to nation building, Obong Attah laid a solid foundation for the eventual growth of the modern Akwa Ibom state as governor between 1999 and 2007.


“As governor, Obong Attah had a lofty vision for the state and pulled all the stops to ensure our glorious future. For instance, his invaluable role and its impact in the resource control struggle can never be forgotten. Attah, an architect of note, fought passionately for the improved economic status of the Niger Delta through his resource control struggle, which pitched him against the federal authorities.

According to Udofia, Attah’s “brilliant and invaluable interventions in national discourses have been a source of pride to most of his admirers, of which I happen to be one. May God grant him more years to witness the imminent peak of the glory of Akwa Ibom State”, he added.

A frontline aspirant to the office of governor in Akwa Ibom state, Obong Akan Udofia (OAU), has declared that he will run a people-focused government, if given the chance come 2023.

He told journalists at Victor Attah International Airport, where he arrived to a rousing reception by his teeming supporters, that everything he will do will be to ensure a better future for the children, youths and elders of the state.

Specifically, he said: “The people, of course, will be my focus. It’s going to be about prosperity, like I have often said. We are going to continue with the laudable programmes of His Excellency Udom Emmanuel. We pray today that God should make his Completion Agenda to come to fruition. And then, we will take it from there and run with it. He has laid a good foundation. Now, we are going to come and complement what he has done”.

He further commended the governor on the recent agreement for the supply of 10
additional Airbus planes to Ibom Air.

Against speculations that he had no specific party, the billionaire businessman stated clearly that he had always been a member of PDP. Asked by a report where he belonged, Udofia said: “I belong to Akwa Ibom State, I belong to you all. I belong to everybody. But like you can clearly see today, I am a PDP member. I belong to PDP, I’ve always belonged to PDP and the PDP family, our great party”.

He also reacted to speculations that his gubernatorial ambition was just to test the waters or that he may just be trying his luck. Rather, he explained that he meant business as he was never known to try out on luck in his life.

“What am I trying? I’ve never tried anything in my life. I’m about success, I’m about prosperity, I have never tried. I go out and I win. I’m a winner. Now, I want to win with all of you. There’s nothing about trying. There’s nothing to try…I’ve come to continue the good works Gov Udom Emmanuel is doing. I intend to continue from where he stops. His Excellency has done exceedingly well, so what are you talking about trying? There’s nothing to try”.

The basis of his confidence and conviction, he said, was his experience in the past 32 years. After inheriting a family business with about 15-member staff and growing same to an empire of 4,700 workers, Udofia’s submission was that he has the proven experience to change Akwa Ibom economic fortunes.

Hence, he said he was not bothered concerning his other co-contestants. “I am not bothered about other contestants. But I want to beg each and everyone of you not to be fooled. Don’t let anyone fool you. Anyone who has not done it before, don’t believe him. I am a man who has done it for 32 years; I have been succeeding for 32 years. I am a pride of Akwa Ibom state. I’ve done it right from my youthful days. And so this time, I’m not doing it for myself. I’m doing it for the future of our children. I’m doing it for the next generation. So, let’s not talk about me, let’s talk about the next generation”, he added.

Asked if he was confident that PDP will win at the centre as well as retain its leadership in Akwa Ibom State, the GMD of Desicon Group, a global leader in oil and gas, answered unequivocally in the affirmative.

“Of course”, he said, “ we are going to take 2023. PDP is getting to power in 2023 by the grace of God. I know God has done it for us before and God has continued to do it for Akwa Ibom state.

He acknowledged that power comes from God and He gives to whoever he desires, stating that should PDP fail to give him ticket in the run up to the general election, he will not abandon the party. “Why would I defect? Defect to where? God gives power, so if PDP doesn’t give me ticket , I will know that God has not given me political power”, he submitted.

Reacting to a question on how he would reconcile his ambition with that of his close friend, Senator Bassey Albert, Udofia said there was nothing to reconcile as Albert was not just his friend but a brother.
His words: “I need to correct an impression. Obong Bassey Albert is not my friend, he is my brother and I love him dearly. So there’s nothing to reconcile. And actually, we are not fighting, we are not quarrelling, so there’s nothing to reconcile. God gives power, that’s all”.

His advice to Akwa Ibom people on transition was that they should continue to pray and be steadfast.
“It is God’s project, let’s continue to pray, let’s continue to be steadfast. Let’s continue to pray that His Excellency, Gov Emmanuel, will finish well. But for the future, the future is very bright. God has never forgotten Akwa Ibom, God has never forgotten us”, he submitted

He was addressing a mammoth crowd of youths who welcomed him to Ini local government, where he attended the burial of the mother of Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong (Iraq) on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Udofia who was again escorted by the excited youths as he wanted to leave the reception venue, after the burial, told them to be peaceful and hopeful, promising to change their narrative for the better soon.

The international businessman lamented the poor economic situation as well as the joblessness which has turned some youths into beggarly living but assured them that he will focus on changing the economic fortunes of the state.

Whereas previous governments had tried to develop infrastructure and industries, among others, the multi-billionaire businessman said he will focus on “commercialization” and human capital development.

He explained that without getting the means of economic sustenance to yield for the people, economically and socially, government would have failed in its responsibility to the people.

Displaying his trademark humility and sociability, the renowned philanthropist, at the event venue, had gone round sharing jokes while also dancing to the music.

Many who expected Udofia to behave like some politicians by displaying negative attitude towards other aspirations he met at the event, expressed surprise when he shared hugs, banters and took pictures with them, instead.
