Less than four days to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bayelsa State governorship primary, scheduled for September 3, it is gathered that the choice of candidates has been narrowed down to three aspirants.

Specifically, the elders and stakeholders of the party in Bayelsa State and the party national headquarters have zeroed in on the trio of Timi Alaibe, Kamela Okara and Reuben Okoya, out of the 21 aspirants that purchased the governorship forms.

The reason why the elders of the state are backing the choice of these three, it was gathered, was that they could match anybody from any other political party.

While it was pointed out that Alaibe has what it takes to win the election and govern the state, Okara and Okoya, it was also gathered have the experiences to pilot the affairs of the state also.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday, one of the elders said, "we want our party, the PDP to win this election. We don't want anything that will make us to regret later.

"Alaibe, Okara and Okoya are qualified for this position and they have what it takes to win the election and rule the state. Imposition of a candidate will not help us at this point in time.

"The governor should eschew sentiments and not allow personal interest to destroy or destabilise the chances of PDP in the November 16 governorship election. Whatever biases he has against any of the aspirants should be suspended and let us concentrate and win the election first and whatever has been the problem will be settled later."

Ahead of the Bayelsa governorship primary scheduled for September 3, the Restoration Group of Governor Seriake Dickson is presently enmeshed in crisis.

Recall that the Governor and the Chairman of the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had boasted that the candidate for the governorship must come from the Restoration Group.

However, some members of the group have expressed displeasure over the plan to narrow the choice of candidate to two aspirants.

A member of the group, Ebi Mills yesterday condemned the choice of Sen. Diri Douye and Kamela Okara as possible choice of the group.

The aggrieved member said that such an action is capable of destabilizing the group and creating bad blood among the members.

He added that the Restoration Group should be allowed to pick its candidate, adding that a candidate should not be foisted on them.

Mill said: "This plan of trying to impose a candidate on us is highly condemnable; it should not be tolerated at all by any of us. The action if carried out is enough to destabilize the Restoration Group.

"Members of the group are matured enough to select its candidate and besides, the aspirants should be allowed to go to the field and slug it out.

"This idea of imposing a candidate will not help the party in this coming election; it will succeed in exposing the party’s weakness. The national leadership of the party should wade into this development before it is too late."

It appears the crisis rocking the build up to the Bayelsa State governorship election is gradually taking different dimensions, as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths kicked against the alleged plot to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd).

It was alleged that the plot to impeach the deputy governor is not unconnected to his stance against the manipulation of the forthcoming governorship primary in the state.

The PDP South South Youth Vanguard, in a statement by its National Chairman, James Efe Akpofure, warned against the plot to impeach the deputy governor, pointing out that the deputy governor has been a loyal and dependable person, who ought to be rewarded by his principal.

The group, which fingered Governor Seriake Dickson in the plot to impeach the deputy, added that it gathered that members of the State House of Assembly have already been mobilized to carry out the act.

Recall the Youth Vanguard had warned against interference in the forthcoming governorship primary, adding that interfering with the primary would send a wrong signals.

The group had also advised the state governor to allow all the aspirants to have a level playing field in the forthcoming primary in other for the party to produce the best candidate.

The PDP Youth Vanguard said that the alleged plot would not only destabilize the party, but will open room for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to have a smooth sail in the coming governorship election.

They reinstated that the governor should play a fatherly role now that he's rounding off his tenure, as interference would only bring discord to the party in the state.

The group said: "If what we have gathered is true that the plot to impeach the deputy governor is because of his stance against manipulating the September 3 primary, that will be very wrong on the side of the governor. The deputy governor has done well and he should be rewarded."

Let your state government handle it. Akwa Ibom is a rich state. Ask mods to push it to front page. No matter how much we contribute it cannot help much with 6 children and a housewife. She needs government assistance.

Women need to stop giving birth to more children than they can afford to take care of. 6 children in this day and age is ridiculous. There are family planning options everywhere! Life is too uncertain and difficult for this!

Yeaaa lack of Education

ImaIma1:
I always wonder why these people keep having children that end up being a burden to take care of. It is unfair on the children.
