I was reading a soft copy of 'My book of bible stories online' and i saw this. I remember it was in the hard copy also i had during childhood. Remember the 'my book of bible stories' wwas by Jehovah's witness. This verse says CAN you see that bright star one of these men is pointing to? When they left Jerusalem, the star appeared. These men are from the East, and they study the stars. They believe that this new star is leading them to someone important. When the men got to Jerusalem, they asked: ‘Where is the child who is to be king of the Jews?’ “Jews” is another name for Israelites. ‘We first saw the child’s star when we were in the East,’ the men said, ‘and we have come to worship him.’ When Herod, who is king at Jerusalem, heard about this he got upset. He did not want another king to take his place. So Herod called the chief priests and asked: ‘Where will the promised king be born?’ They answered: ‘The Bible says in Beth´le·hem.’ So Herod called the men from the East, and said: ‘Go make a search for the young child. When you find him, let me know. I want to go and worship him too.’ But, really, Herod wanted to find the child to kill him! Then the star moves ahead of the men to Beth´le·hem, and it stops over the place where the child is. When the men go into the house, they find Mary and little Jesus. They bring out gifts and give them to Jesus. But later Jehovah warns the men in a dream not to go back to Herod. So they return to their own country by another road. When Herod learns that the men from the East have left for home, he gets very angry. So he gives the command for all the boys in Beth´le·hem two years of age and under to be killed. But Jehovah warns Joseph ahead of time in a dream, and Joseph leaves with his family for Egypt. Later, when Joseph learns that Herod has died, he takes Mary and Jesus back home to Naz´a·reth. This is where Jesus grows up. Who do you think made that new star to shine? Remember, the men first went to Jerusalem after seeing the star. Satan the Devil wanted to kill God’s Son, and he knew that King Herod of Jerusalem would try to kill him. So Satan is the one who must have made that star shine. Matthew 2:1-23; Micah 5:2. What is ur opinion on the bolded. |

i think it just makes us not to think and be unreasonable For instance, i remember in undergrad in naija and during exam periods when we had to say prayer petitions in fellowships for exam. We had prayer points like 'praying against the spirit/demons of missing paper', 'praying that NEPA should give us light during the exam....' and bla bla bla... When i reflect i ask myself, 'What the phuckk was/is wrong with me/us. How is there a spirit of missing paper when my name was obviously on the attendance sheets( all 3 of them sometimes) and the lecturer carelessly misplaced my script. If it was a saner clime that shitt wouldnt happen or the lecturer would be fired but instead of challenging the system we term it 'a demon' and pray more so it wont repeat itself'. On one of my nairaland threads i wrote about getting on a bus from phct to enugu in the night few years ago..The roads were freaking bad and the driver had to usually move from his lane to the other lane with incoming traffic just so he could avoid bad portholes which were more like death traps... THe roads were poorly illuminated..There was a pastor on the bus who stood up to pray and told everyone to pray against the spirit of blood sucking demons/witches/wizards on the road that cause accidents on the road...After a while i couldnt take it any longer and told him to shut the phuckk up and to stop using religion to blackmail people as thatz what we suffer in Nigeria...He reacted along with the passengers and accused me of been possessed. I told him further to shut it.A blind man knows that these roads are bad and are death traps and ur driver has to move from one lane to another to avoid portholes popping up everywhere..Why wouldnt there be accidents? Why wouldnt there be loss of lives?I told the pastor that no one was flying in the air trying to cause accidents...I further asked him 'why the demons and witches in naija seem to be more hyperactive than in more developed countries? Why are they hiding in corners or in the air? I told him that The demons are the contractors who did a bad job alongside the minister who commissioned that road. God has shown them to you in physical form..Lynch them and accidents will reduce by other contractors taking a cue. You hear things like the spirit of 'mber month. Why wouldnt there be accidents in 'mber months when the bad roads have much more traffic than usual as that is the time easterners travel. Why the hell cant we reason some of this things? I tire sometimes. The first time i got here and i wanted to embark on a journey via bus, i usually say my rosary as per naija levels . After a few months it began to look crazy to me cos 'there wasnt anyone trying to make us have accidents or needing the blood of accident victims'. How many times have i gotten on a road from 1 part of the UK to another and just slept off knowing that there are no spirits here. THis is because the system is working and the roads are safe. THe contractors who do the roads i ply on are most probably unbelievers but the fear of the law and not fear of Jah/Allah make them do very good jobs. If u place ur car and travel on the road and have an accident due to bad portholes, do u know that u have the right to sue the government here? You will see lawyers coming to beg you to take up your case.I remember stories of people who imported cars from overseas through dealership with motor companies, drive to their village to show off and on their way back have accidents as the 'village people were not happy with them'. I was discussing with a chinese friend studying mechanical designs and he mentioned stuff on recalling of cars due to factory issues and which i tried to look up. I will copy paste links on it here. i tried doing a little research on Car recall and what i read astonished me. Do u know that thousands and millions of cars have been recalled due to power steering failure, faulty brake pads etc.by top car manufacturers. Do u know that this year alone toyota recalled 6.4 million cars? Do u know that Toyoya paid 1billiondollars in compensation in 2012 involving unintended acceleration problems in its vehicles.? From this site, http://blogs.wsj.com/corporate-intelligence/2012/12/26/toyotas-1-1-billion-payout-what-it-means-for-owners-and-more/ In short, here’s the details of what this means for all involved, based on the details outlined in the draft settlement. Toyota owners, past and present: - If you sold your Toyota, or returned a leased one prior to the lease expiry, a $250 million fund will be established to compensate you for the reduction in the value of your car. If the fund doesn’t have enough money to cover the full loss in value for every owner, it will pay out a pro-rated amount. - If you are still driving one of the vehicles listed in the settlement, Toyota will pay for a brake override system to be installed in your car, or make a cash payment in lieu of the installation. The system, the settlement says, “will automatically reduce engine power when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are applied simultaneously under certain driving conditions.” If your vehicle is not elligible to have the system installed, Toyota will make a cash payment of up to $125. In some cases and if u have had an accident due to car trouble the makers pay a fine to you or settle out of court or pay to the government. Now where the hell do u think some of the recalled cars which cant be repaired are sent to..You are damn right. Africa and in our case naija as we dont have a system in place for checking out these.. And the car manufacturers have to recoup their money. An average nigerian gets on the road with a new ride, has an accident due to the brake not working, escapes unhurt and goes to give thanksgiving. AND THATZ IT. If u know anyone who has had accident with a potentially new car and u know the make of the car, try typing on google for example, 'BMW recalls steering wheel' and u will be amazed at what u see online. I failed to add that i am not an expert in the field of biology/biochemistry/pharmacy/medicine as this really aint my forte. But i would love to know if we dont have nairalanders in this health section studying pharmacy related courses here who could give us a logical breakdown of the pros and cons of nanosilver with its effectiveness theoretically on the ebola virus. This will help us all. |
I was doing a little research on the internet to learn much about the effectiveness of nanosilver as a solution for the ebola virus. I came across this article written sometime in september last year and thought to share on nairaland. Note though that the study for this article was made before the outbreak for ebola. More intriguing about this article was the 'comment section' where people who had used nano silver on varying ailments talked about the effectiveness of nanosilver. It makes for an interesting read. FDA Protects Big Pharma Products by Declaring that Silver Has No Therapeutic Value Silver has been used as an antimicrobial for thousands of years—that’s why forks, spoons, and platters were traditionally made out of silver. Nanosilver, however, sprang out of the new science of nanomaterials, which involves creating objects smaller than 100 nanometers. (A nanometer is a billionth of a meter.) For example, the period at the end of this sentence is a million nanometers wide. Objects this small can penetrate parts of the body that larger sizes of silver cannot and thus potentially increase silver’s antimicrobial effect. The new size however also poses potential risks of misuse. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) filed a lawsuit in January 2012 to block the EPA from allowing nanosilver on the market without the legally required data about possible harmful effects. Australian microbiologist Gregory Crocetti adds that important clinical uses of silver “will be diminished by completely hysterical and frivolous uses” such as nanosilver being used in bedding and clothing simply to prevent odors and keep linens fresher longer between washings. He implicitly acknowledges, as the FDA will not, that nanosilver has important therapeutic applications. Silver kills all kinds of bacteria, attacking them in three distinct ways: Weakening the cell wall, thus causing the bacteria to collapse or burst; Interfering with the enzymes the bacteria need to metabolize nutrients, starving them; and Disrupting the ability of bacteria to replicate. This triple-pronged attack makes it unlikely that bacteria could develop resistance to silver—although it cannot be completely ruled out. (Bacteria would have to mutate in all three ways.) For this reason, critics of using silver in clothes and similar products are right. Because silver weakens the wall of the bacteria, it also allows conventional antibiotics to enter more easily. Research on mice at Boston University showed that with silver added, lower doses of antibiotic drugs were needed to kill bacteria. Silver was also able to reverse the antibiotic resistance of E. coli bacteria, making them once more susceptible to tetracycline. The mice were left unharmed by the silver. This is huge, if only because it may force medical authorities to recognize silver as a therapeutic agent. It could also be the answer to the growing problem of antibiotic resistant diseases that are becoming endemic. Individual studies have confirmed silver’s powerful therapeutic effects against thrush, pericoronitis (infection of the gums around the back teeth), E.coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. Silver nanoparticles in blood serum from cattle showed “highly potent antibacterial activity” toward certain bacterial strains. The FDA does not recognize colloidal silver (silver suspended in a liquid) as a safe and effective antibiotic and believes there is no evidence to support its use. This has been the agency’s position since 1996. This led the authors of this study to want to evaluate the This led the authors of this study to want to evaluate the mineral’s antimicrobial efficacy (and therefore the FDA’s claim). They found that, contrary to the agency’s claim, ionic colloidal silver is highly effective in killing bacteria. Another study similarly concluded: “Silver particles could offer a great potential for application as [an] antibacterial agent with low human toxicity.” An epidemic of tuberculosis is currently ravaging Myanmar, with 9,000 new multi-drug-resistant TB infections every year. The normal strain of TB is easy to treat with a simple and cheap drug regimen, but when patients skip doses, the bacteria can fight back by mutating in ways that sidestep the drugs’ assault. Now, the drugs that are needed to fight this resistant strain of TB are highly toxic, one hundred times more expensive, and must be taken for longer periods of time. As we reported in 2012, the “miracle drugs” and vaccines of the mid-to-late 1900s are not standing the test of time. Where is silver in the treatment plan for multi-drug-resistant TB in Myanmar? There are no known cases of silver-resistant bacteria, and as more “modern” antibiotics are rendered useless by bacteria that have learned to outsmart them, silver is an obvious answer. Silver nanoparticles also show promise in fighting viral infections. The Journal of Virological Methods reported in 2011 that silver nanoparticles inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the hepatitis B virus, and the H1N1 influenza A virus. That was confirmed in studies here and here. Condoms coated with silver nanoparticles have been shown to inactivate the infectiousness of both HIV and the herpes simplex virus. Water disinfection systems using silver nanoparticles were shown to exhibit antiviral properties, and silver applied to a water filter more than doubled its effectiveness in removing viruses from drinking water. Although this is providing important information, using silver in this way is untested and might also jeopardize silver’s continuing use as a potent antimicrobial agent. How about using silver against fungal infections? There is mounting evidence for its antifungal effects, including four recent studies from universities and research institutes the world over (1) (2) (3) (4). This is heartening news. Is colloidal silver safe for use by individuals and families? The evidence is that it is, but that care must be taken to follow the manufacturer’s directions in order to avoid an overdose. In general, it is better to avoid using silver for everyday infections such as teenage acne, but instead reserve it for more serious infections. Meanwhile the FDA continues to keep its head buried in the sand. It ignores mounting evidence that silver is an important general antimicrobial, an important tool especially against resistant infections and pandemic, while ignoring the proliferation of nanosilver in consumer goods. The agency appears to be trying to protect drug company products. The difference between drug company products and silver is of course that the latter is natural. As such, it is not easily patented, and not being patentable, no one can afford to spend $1 billion on FDA approval. This is a scandalous situation. How many millions of people will have to die as a result? Source: http://www.anh-usa.org/fda-declares-silver-has-no-therapeutic-value/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7wNfRCuOZE

i get so sad sad sad sad sad when i see news like this!!!!!!!!wtf s wrong with us? it would make more sense IMO if money is gathered to develop indigenous medicine and research institutions or even empowering herbal doctors to look introspectively and see if they can do something about the virus than this tomfoolery this people are doing here...so ashamed. anyways lets keep praying for 'infidels', 'unbelievers', and 'people who are going to hell since they dont follow Jesus/Mohammed as our religion tells us' (i mean the americans, the west and the chinese) to develop a cure for us in africa and then give it to us free of charge because we prayed for them...What an irony!!!!!! African leaders, when will your brains be activated? Africans, we keep constructing all sorts of buildings that add little to our productivity (if Félix Houphouët-Boigny is not wasting millions of dollars on a cathedral in Yamoussoukro, the dude wasted $300million on the world's largest church while his people lived in grinding poverty in the same city he sited his grandiose basilica, you will see the Yobe State Government wasting billions of naira on a mosque that will sit 100,000 worshippers, forget the fact that their children are begging on the streets and their women are dying in thousands during childbirth) but the things that really matter, hospitals, libraries, research & development centres, astronomical observatories, recreational parks, we never build those. An American doctor who also got infected got the experimental drug and he is doing fine now because the scientists and leaders in their own country have their brains and they make good use of their mental resources. so true @ d bolded sandijey: You are so right. And the worse part is that this blacks do not even strive harder to make something outta their lives. Not sure bur I can bet that most blacks u see in schools or working hard in u.s or Europe came from Africa or second or third generations of Africans who have imbibed the culture of working hard from their parents. You should see d way the black Americans give birth to children anyhow, have different baby mamas as if it's a trophy, not to talk of the drugs. Its almost the same thing in africa. Giving birth to children we cannot take care of. If we say the system is bad, how about people like Oprah Winfrey. Naomi Campbell. Etc. The only honourable thing u see blacks doing is sports. Music has become so dishonourable considering drugs and prostitution. Not saying the whites are perfect. But they have made the society suit their supremacy. They will continue to rule and treat blacks anyhow till we have another martin Luther King. I don't no the kind of spirit that governed that man but he was different. What is stopping this blacks from going to schools, or colleges. Becoming scientist too and inventing things? Must we always switch on our tvs and see white people doing this and that. White people hair. White people this white people that. Why won't Africans bleach. Why must they always want to make quick money. What's the difference between the black Americans who do drugs and the yahoo boys here. It's all about quick money. How about bringing down syndrome. If u no how the blacks abroad look at the Africans. I'd hate them. Many of them don't care about Africa. When my sister calls home she gives me stories of the kind of questions black Americans ask her about Africa. Imagine one asking her how she got to America and if there are airplanes. My sister being who she is said she swam through the Atlantic ocean for 7 days non stop. Another one asked her if we have cars, skyscrapers and if there are monkeys on the street. Imagine the nonsense coming from a black American. Here in africa nko, see as south Africa they vex say we overtake their white economy. In Nigeria nko, tribal issues here and there. Can africa ever stand for one thing? |
