Nigerian governments like any government keep a lot of secrets. In Nigeria a lot are unnecessary secrets. Any American can visit the White House with a simple appointment; but very few Nigerians have ever been inside Aso Rock, not even pictures exist of most parts of the Presidential Residence. One secret the Nigerian government has tried to keep were the details of the execution of writer, Ken Saro Wiwa 25 years ago on November 10th 1995. Worldwide executions have multiple witnesses including victims, families and the press. Arrested for a murder he could not have committed, the military government of Sani Abacha accused Ken Saro Wiwa and 8 Ogoni leaders of inciting the murder of four men by a mob and charged them for it. According to any eye witness, the execution of Ken was as dramatic as his life. The morning of November 10th 1995 , a Sunday, he and his co accused were taken from their cells at the Port Harcourt army base and told they were being moved to the Port Harcourt prison as Ogoni youths were planning to riot at the base. In Nigeria condemned convicts are usually not told they are about to be executed, they are told a lie in hopes of keeping them calm; whereas in many other countries, the accused knows his execution date and gets to say goodbyes and make preparations. The men were all sat on benches outside a room and their hands and legs cuffed. Ken Saro Wiwa was called in first. This is what we are told happened in the room. He was arranged on the gallows and his last rites read; but the gallow wouldn't work, the executioner tried again, it still wouldn't work. In all there were 5 different attempts! The prison officials and military men who were there on orders of General Sani Abacha were confused. Since they had a schedule, they took Ken out and he sat down back. He told the men what had happened; his co accused began to panic not expecting an execution. Saro Wiwa calmed them down telling them to be men and dispense with all fear. One by one the others were led in and the executions by hanging was swift. Then they came back to the legend. When they led him back this time; he was said to have said the following words " Spirit of the Ogoni people let me go", then his last words: "Lord take my soul, but the struggle continues." This time the gallows worked and he was executed with no hiccups. The execution led to massive international outrage; Nigeria was expelled from the Commonwealth and banned from the African Cup of Nations which it was expected to easily win in January 1996. Mr. B, one of Ken's creations was probably the number one show on Nigerian TV in the mid 80s. He authored many books. many books. Sani Abacha was said to have ordered a video recording of Saro Wiwa's execution. Source: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=730

Voters in Oregon approved a ballot measure Tuesday that will decriminalize the possession of small amounts of harder street drugs including but not limited to heroin, methamphetamines and cocaine. With more than 70 percent of expected votes reported on the Oregon state website, Measure 110 lead with nearly 60 percent of the vote. The ballot measure would mean that the possession of a "non-commercial" amount of a number of drugs, which varies in amount by type, would be punishable by no more than a $100 fine. Violators can also opt to complete a health assessment for drug addiction instead of paying a fine. The victory for advocates of Measure 110 comes amid a slew of wins for advocates of drug policy form around the nation on Tuesday. In New Jersey and Arizona, voters moved to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, while in Washington D.C. a measure decriminalizing hallucinogenic mushrooms also passed. "Oregon made history tonight by becoming the first state to decriminalize drug possession! Our c4 @DrugPolicyAct led this campaign with @voteYESon110 to make this visionary initiative a reality! This victory is truly transformative," tweeted the Drug Policy Alliance, which led a statewide campaign in support of the ballot measure. Source: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=644.0

The Trial
|
It was around 4am on Sunday April 22nd 1990; Ibrahim Babangida, Military President of Nigeria was about to board a ship to escape to the UK. His government had been overthrown and he had barely escaped from the seat of government; Dodan Barracks with his life. His trusted and loyal ADC; Lt.Col UK Bello had been killed in a hail of bullets; but not before he had ensured his boss was ferried to a private residence somewhere in Lagos for safety. Just as he was boarding the ship; a Corporal in the Army and loyal to the President boldly stepped forward and said "General, sir; with all due respect; you can't leave. We are going to crush these dissidents; and if you leave it will look like you were a coward that ran away". The Corporal was the lone voice speaking this opinion; despite the prevailing circumstances; it took a lot of boldness for a Corporal to speak directly like that to his Commander in Chief. The President’s wife and family had already boarded the naval ship. At that time of day, the odds were strongly against IBB. Dodan Barracks had been taken, contact with his key allay Chief of Army Staff Sani Abacha was not certain. We may never know what convinced IBB, but he stepped off the ship and began working on strategies . Unknown to IBB at that time, that Sunday was not supposed to be the D Day for the coup. The coup plotters led by Gideon Orkar only struck because the coup had possibly leaked. A batch of his men riding in the popular Peugeot J5 buses of those days had been stopped at a police check point. Not knowing what the police would find out, they had moved the coup date back. This led to a thoroughly disorganized coup exactly like the Dimka coup of 1975 which ironically IBB then a Colneal had personally crushed. Tony Nyiam, a Lieutant Colneal had led the onslaught on Dodan Barracks. It is said that he was at the Presidential quarters on a visit to see his friend, UK Bello and they had been playing draft all evening. Unbeknownst to the ADC, Colneal Nyiam had other plans. He was busy spying and somehow removed the firing pins from the armored personnel carriers stationed at Dodan Barracks; this eventually led to the death of UK Bello as when the shooting started, Bello tried to personally take one of the APCs and it didn't work. He was shot dead and his wife says Col Nyiam himself killed his friend, her husband. The Colneal later disputed that account' adding that IBB sacrificed UK Bello. The first gunshots were reportedly fired around 12.30am at Dodan Barracks and the plotters took some of the Armored Carriers on an assault on the Presidential quarters. They took temporary control of weapons and men from the Ojo and Ikeja cantonments, Bonny Camp and Apapa military police armory. But their failure to get their hands on the Army's powerful T55 tanks would eventually be their misfortune as these same tanks would be used to crush them. Many of the men who joined the coup were co opted that morning; some were even released detainees from the guard rooms. By 7am after a long drawn gun battle Dodan Barracks had been deserted with the gates flung open. For the first time ever ; there was no security check point at the Barracks gate. Also for the first time in the history of coups in Nigeria, Government troops battled coup plotters on the open streets. Citizens watched from afar as gun battles raged at the Obalende Bridge well into the late hours of the morning. The great mistake of the Orkar coup was the failure to arrest the strongman of the government; Minister of Defence and Chief of Army Staff Sani Abacha; just like the Major Nzeowgu coup where they failed (or has some have inferred Major Ifejuna chose not ) to arrest General Ironsi. Any coup not complete by 5am in Nigeria is dead on arrival. All successful coups are done by 4am and the speech to the nation is broadcast at dawn. The failure of the coupist to arrest Abacha at the Flag Staff House allowed him to rally troops. One of the first steps he took was to contact as many Commanders as possible to get their commitments of loyalties. By mid day; the Orkar boys had been dislodged from Radio Nigeria in Ikoyi. Major Gideon Orkar had already made a broadcast to the nation at dawn. The Radio station is the most important target of a coup; its where you declare the coup and whoever controls it, controls the narrative and the country. There are two stories about how General Babangida escaped from Dodan Barracks; the first says he was whisked away by his ADC, Lt.Col UK Bello; who then returned to face the rebellious soldiers. The second story was told by the General himself in an interview with Galaxy TV as narrated by Dr. Nowa Omogui on dawodu.com _More recently, General Babangida revealed on Galaxy Television, Ibadan that one Captain Kassim Omowa insisted on him leaving or being evacuated from Dodan Barracks. He is quoted as saying: "Omowa insisted that he would fly me out. But on each mention, I told him no because he was too junior to command me......But the young man said: "I am here to do my job. So I must move you out of this place." According to Babangida, Omowa evacuated him via a secret channel to a location (ostensibly a private residence in Surulere) "where I was for some days while the heat remained." Babangida did not shed light on other accounts that he was physically "knocked down" or "grabbed", smuggled via the Ribadu back gate and maze of adjoining buildings and compounds, tucked inside a Volkswagen beetle and hidden at the National Arts Theater, Iganmu from where he made contact with Abacha and others. It has also been reported that one of his bodyguards was later captured by the plotters but did not betray his location. None of this has been confirmed by authoritative sources._ By 11am, Commanders from various formations around the country had began to go on air to swear allegiance to President Babangida. Eventually General Abacha proved his loyalty and toughness and crushed the coup. When his men stormed and captured the FRCN station, the microphones were on and the whole country could hear Abacha barking orders " Every body lie down, get down" The unknown Corporal saved Babangida's legacy preventing him from being labeled a coward. Lt.Col UK Bello saved the life of his boss and lost his own. Captain Omowa rescued his Commander in Chief to safety when it seemed the coup had succeeded. Lt. General Sanni Abacha saved Babangida's government when he could have assumed office himself. The coup of April 22nd 1990 was the last coup in the history of Nigeria. Odd Things About The Coup 1) It was the frst to involve soldiers, ex soldiers and civilians in planning and execution. All other coups were 100% military, 2) First coup to be funded by a civilian. Allegations that MKO Abiola had funded the earlier IBB coup of 1985 makes no sense. IBB was the Chief of Army Staff, he controlled the Army and needed no funding. 3) First coup that had no operation outside Lagos. This was probably due to the rush to execute. It was a big mistake. 4) All previous coups had one broadcast announcing the take over and one or two more from the leaders of the coup or new Head of State. This was the first coup where several military leaders around the country got on air to declare loyalty and many people were expecting some to declare loyalty to the coupists; but that never happened 5) The Speech by Major Gideon Orkar (the face of the coup) announced that the 5 core Northern states would no longer be part of Nigeria until they installed the rightful Sultan ( Maccido) and remove Sultan Dasuki whom many people believe was installed by IBB against the wishes of the people. This was a major bad move as what people said and repeated was the excision of the states from Nigeria; little was mentioned about it been temporary and conditional. 6) This was the first coup that played out in real time for the world; people watched and monitored it like a football game; the first coup of 1966 was similar too; but Nzeowgu controlled the country for at least 2 days unlike Orkar"s coup. All successful coups are completed before the nation wakes up, Dimka and Nzeowgu stretched a bit further into the morning too, but not like the April 22nd one.. 7) Col Ghandi Tola Zidon of the 9th Infantry Brigade is said to have gone to the radio station in jogging outfit on the orders of Brigadier Ishaya Bamaiyi and pretended to be with Major Orkar . He thus got to access things first hand; the exact same thing happened in 1976 when then Col Babangida approached Dimka at the same Radio Station and pretended to be with him, only to return and rout the coupists. Lt Col Nyiam, Chief Great Ogboru ( financier of the coup who was promised the post of Vice President) and Major Mukuro all escaped from the country and are alive today. Following their trial, Major Gideon Orkar and 41 others were executed in July 1990. 27 others were executed in September 1990. Lets Bring History. The Man Who Was Never Born Bob Lazar has no birth certificate, there is no evidence he was ever born. He claimed to have attended the world renowned MIT and Caltech; both schools deny him. He claimed to have worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory..( a highly sensitive nuclear facility) they said no no. In 1990 whilst in court, neither the defense nor the prosecution could substantiate his schooling or educational background. Even the Judge was perplexed. Are you even real? The judge probably wondered. Yes Bob Lazar is real, just that the shadowy group that controls the US government had wiped out much of his background to de legitimize him. Why? Because in 1989, Bob shook the world to its core, when he declared that he had been working for the government to reverse engineer ALIEN technology. Aliens from a planet in the star system Zeta Retculi, 39.3 light years away (in miles or kilometers, i dont the number to describe that exists in the English language...its greater than 900 zillion zillion quadzilllion miles). At that time, no one had really heard of Area 51. Now Area 51 is the theme of movies, documentaries, tv shows etc. No other plot of land on Planet Earth has attracted more attention and mystery. What made Bobs story very believable was his claim to be a physicist working at Area 51 and having studied at the world renowned MIT . He was fired he said because it was discovered that his wife was having an affair, and for you to work at Area 51, you need to have a drama free life. After he was fired, he discovered that men in black suits were following him around everywhere. Thats when a friend advised him to go to the press as thats the only way he could stay alive. If the press and the world knew, he would be somewhat safe. It was international news at a time when there was no tweets. Facebook nor social media. I was in JS2 then. Then suddenly all his records disappeared, no one knew him and he looked like a liar. Anyone who claimed to know him mysteriously lost their jobs. The "smart" ones denied him. But the government forgot some things! His name on a phone book from work at Los Alamos and a front page news article about him in 1982 when he worked there . 30 years after, he is back in the news. Netflix has done a documentary on him and a group on Facebook is collecting signatures of people to storm Area 51 on September 20th . Over 1. 2 million people have signed up. The Air Force has warned them to stay away. The people say: " you cant shoot us all" While the Netflix documentary is ok in my opinion; if you REALLY want to have a feel of whats really going on, watch his interview with Joe Rogan. Its mindblowing. The FBI, CiA, State Police, Homeland Security, and probably over a dozen other state agencies raided his office just before the documentary came out. Why? They claimed to be looking for some financial documents, but everyone knows what they were looking for .Element 115, which before 2003 was not on the periodic table, no one knew existed on Earth, yet Bob had clearly mentioned in his 1988 documentary as the power source for the Aliens flying crafts. Bob Lazar saw and physically touched a spacecraft from out of this world. A craft no human could have built. He entered it and observed it for weeks. He saw over a dozen other crafts from a distance, but only worked on one. These are mind blowing claims. Probably the greatest claims in human history outside of the Bible. I studied chemistry in school, there was no such thing as Element 115; yet Bob Lazar mentioned it in 1988 and everyone laughed at him. Now we know there is an element 115.

Mamman Vatsa was a soldier and a poet; a published poet in fact whose books were popular in primary schools. He was executed for leading the attempt to overthrow the government of his one time best friend ( yes best friend) and Military President Ibrahim Babangida. Why Major General Vatsa did not escape is beyond understanding. It was on Friday December 20th 1985 that it was announced a coup to overthrow the government had been nipped in the bud. No further announcements were made that, but Vatsa was still a free man that Friday night. Infact he was a free man till Monday night when he was arrested at his Ikoyi, Lagos residence. Many people could not understand why he had not escaped out of the country. According to his wife Sufiya, Armed men led by IBB's late ADC ( who would late be killed in the 1990 Orkar Coup) surrounded their house on Monday December 23rd and arrested the General. The arrest of Vatsa the Minister of the Federal Capital Terrority , Abuja was not announced until a week after the coup was made public. Ibrahim Babangida had been the best man at Mamman Vatsa’s wedding in 1960s and they had been friends most of their lives. But for some reason; Babangida had not involved Vatsa in the palace coup that overthrew the government of Mohammdu Buhari/Tunde Idiagbon. Vatsa had actually been on the Federal Government delegation to the Haji in Saudi Arabia. A delegation that was led by the strongman Major General Tunde Idiagbon. That trip according to historians had the hands of IBB in it; he did everything to ensure it was led by Idiagbon as he knew there was NO WAY Idiagbon would surrender to coupists without a gun fight. After the IBB coup on August 27th, 1985; Vatsa waited a few days in Saudi Arabia before heading back. We may never know what he discussed with Idiagbon; but during the trial, there were allusions that Vatsa wanted to bring Buhari and Idiagbon back to power. The trail commenced in early 1986 at a Special Military Tribunal headed by Major General Charles B. Ndiomu. One of the key points of the prosecution was a sum of N10,000 (worth probably $12,000 in 1985) given by General Vatsa to one of his fellow coupists Lt. Col. Musa Bitiyong. At the trial, the prosecution said the money was intended to prepare for the coup; General Vasta insisted there was no coup and the money was a loan to Bitiyong to help him in his farm business. It was also revealed that the initial meeting had held in Makuridi, Benue State and chaired by Bitiyong. Vatsa in fact did not at any time have any meeting with the other coupists. There were many unfounded accusations including a plan by Vatsa to use aircraft to bomb Lagos to cause chaos AND to destroy Lagos, thus ensuring an immediate movement of the Federal Capital to Abuja which was then still under construction. This was also the first and last coup that heavily involved the Air Force. All coups in Nigeria were Army affairs. Two of the accused were members of the Presidential fleet. Historians believe this made IBB to heavily punish the Air Force and cause it to loose funding and necessary equipment in subsequent years. In March the tribunal gave its judgement and ten of the defendants were sentenced to death. Final decision laid with the Armed Forces Ruling Council ( AFRC) Whilst the Babangida administration was still extremely popular at that time and the coupist had little public support; there was a movement to appeal for mercy for Vatsa and his men. Three popular literary icons: Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe and John Pepper Clark went to Dodan Barracks; the then seat of power to appeal for mercy. The AFRC was scheduled to meet that night 5th March 1986 to decide on the appeals for mercy. Then at 7pm; the Minister of Defence: Major General Domkat Bali addressed the nation to state the decision of the AFRC. He restated the offence of the men and the gravity of what they had done. The speech was not beyond the ordinary until the last few seconds when he uttered these words. “ Those sentenced to death were executed about 30 minutes ago. In the military the penalty for treason is death” EXECUTED 30 MINUTES AGO!!!! What ? Already executed? The nation was still waiting for a decision. So basically the meeting ended around 5pm and the order was given to execute; no last meal nor final goodbyes.General Vatsa is believed to have been wearing his white buba and sokoto and requested that his Bible, wedding ring and wrist watch be given to his wife. She was not allowed to see him throughout the trial, but their daughter Fatima was able to smuggle herself in with his defense lawyers and he sent them a note with the words : “Do not beg Babangida. He is after my life. Take care of the children. I know it is not easy but God will help you.” Mrs Vatsa claims the ring given to her was not the Generals; it had been exchanged she alleged. Rumors were rife for years that Vatsa was never killed, but smuggled to London by IBB to save his friend. Of course that was put to rest when Mrs Vatsa took IBB to the 1999 Oputa Truth Commission accusing him of murder. One more oddity to the whole case were the words of General Domkat Bali in an interview twenty years later to TheNews Magazine. His words : ‘“My regret is that up till now, I am not sure whether Vatsa ought to have been killed because whatever evidence they amassed against him was weak. My only regret is that I could not say, don’t do it. I am not so sure whether we were right to have killed Vatsa.” Source: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=604.0

A viral picture of an unidentified man carrying a bag of produce from the nationwide invasion of warehouses shows the man's head all bloody with blood on the bag as well. Others have also died in stampedes or been killed whilst defending their warehouses or trying to get access to warehouses. Whose to blame? Buhari? The Governors? The Minister and officials in charge? Past Governors? The protesters? The Police? Our Value system? Religious Leaders? Parents? The governed and the governors? Which way Nigeria? Source: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=499

A US based Nigerian is producing a Hollywood movie called “Alejandro”, this is another giant step forward for Nollywood and African Film makers in the US. The story is inspired by a true-life event that centers around a man’s random act of kindness that eventually becomes the answer to his most ardent question. This movie promotes Nigerian culture, language, and values with the foreign actors. It is about a lawyer (Nigerian) who spontaneously applied for an allocution in a sentencing hearing of Alejandro – a Mexican man, who is considered a lesser man in the society. An American singer Ne-Yo even gave his word of encouragement to the Nigerian Producer Sam Ojo when they were filming the movie in the US amidst COVID19 and the challenges COVID19 imposed on the production. In a video message to the film cast and crew, Ne-Yo praised their effort in bringing to light the issues in the film despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. “If this is about truly representing your community, then there is no way for you to not do it. You all have to get in there and just work hard and do what you know needs to be done and properly represent where you’re from. Best of luck with everything,” the singer said. The project was filmed in the city of Tulsa with support from the city’s film board FMAC and the state of Oklahoma Film and Music Agencies, who provided access to court rooms and use of city streets and other facilities. There were exceptional talented cast and crew in the movie which was produced by Sam Ojo and directed by Emmanuel Ndejito with the assistant from Mark Gullickson who also headed the sound team. The director of photography was Todd Robert, Bryce Riedesel headed the Gaffer/Grip/Best Boy, Kat Ingram and Mandy Gross headed the makeup and wardrobe/constumier respectively. These are exceptionally talented crew with enormous experiences in the Hollywood. The movie will be featuring many known Nollywood actors and actresses with American stars like Claire Holts, Lydia Grays, Troy Powell, Joshua Pineda, Sam Ojo, and the likes. Sam Ojo produced and starred in the film. He played the role of a Nigerian lawyer who takes up the representation of Alejandro. The trial journey changed the lives of both men and their families regardless of the outcome of the trial. “The film is a triumph of courage between two men from different backgrounds who need each other in their journey,” Ojo said. “We are happy to be doing a project that brings people together in the US particularly in a time like this, to see their shared struggles and common experiences”. “It is my hope that it will engage many people about racial justice and class divides when it is shown in the US, UK-Europe, Mexico, Nigeria and all around the world,” Ojo concluded. You can follow the movie on #alejandromovie, and check for more details on the website www.alejandromovie.com and follow on facebook – alejandro movie for any update about this movie. Police Brutality Started The Boko Haram War! Yes one wrong step by a Police Officer is what started the mess that is Boko Haram war. I never realized that myself until a friend reminded me its exactly what started the war! A war that has cost Nigeria billions of dollars, tens of thousands of lives , displaced over 2.5 million and spread into three other countries. And all this started because several policemen on July 30 2009 decided to take the laws into their own hands and execute without trial Mohammed Yusuf; founder of Boko Haram. The Army had captured Yusuf and handed him to the police alive after interrogating him. His interrogation was recorded on tape. The army did its job and rightly handed him over for prosecution. Later that day though, he was killed outside Police Headquarters in the full view of dozens if not hundreds of members of the public who were hailing the Police and chanting “ No mercy, no mercy” Before 2009 Boko Haram was a legal organization; infact so legal that some commissioners in Borno State were members. Boko Haram infact helped ensure the election of Governor Ali Modu Sheriff. But gradually like most strict religious sects they began to go radical and eventually started attacking Christians. Borno that was the most peaceful State in Northern Nigeria and probably the whole country began to have religious skirmishes. One of Nigeria’s greatest problems is a lack of consequence for actions whether it be reward or punishment. Mohammed Yusuf was obviously a bad man, but there is a system that exists designed to handle bad people. That system is the law and gives everyone a right to trial. Indeed a trial of Mohammed Yusuf would probably have allowed lots of fact to come out and people like Abu Musab al-Barnawi and Abubakar Shekua (present day leaders of Boko Haram successors) may have been nipped in the bud along with information as to who their sponsors were, both local and foreign. Instead his murder and the subsequent killing of hundreds of people in Borno made him a martyr and built up anti government resentment in the North and an all out war. The job of the police is to enforce the law; it is not their job to make laws nor to give out punishment. The courts decide if a person is guilty or innocent. Its been 17 days since the ENDSARS protests began; yet despite mass protests NOT ONE Police or SARS officer has been charged to court including those from possibly the most evil SARS office in Nigeria; Akwuzu, Anambra State where dozens if not hundreds of people were extorted, raped and executed by policemen. And this to the 50 or more people who have been killed by security officers since the protests started on October 8th including at least two extra judicial executions captured on video and seen by millions. It seems we have not learnt out lesson as a nation yet. Police brutality can destroy a nation. There must be reward and consequence for actions if we are to develop as a nation. We need to rebuild and retrain our Police Force. Nigeria itself needs a rebirth, Source: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=454.new#new

There's a car in Space. It's a red electric convertible and has a mannequin called Starman sitting in the drivers seat. It was sent into Space 2 years ago on Feb 6, 2018. Guess who owns it? Of course; no one else but the real life Iron man himself: Elon Musk. It's a cherry red Tesla Roadster and was used as test dummy on a Falcon Heavy rocket as a stunt during the SpaceX rocket's first test launch . When rockets are sent into space to test them, they are usually loaded with random stuff to serve as needed weight and this being Space X's test of its rocket; Elon decided to put a mannequin in a sports car that his company Tesla makes. During its first few days in space , it sent back a lot of pictures of Earth. On October 7th 2020, it passed about 4.5 million miles away from Mars , so actually closer to Mars than it is to Earth as it orbits around the sun. We can't see it anymore, but it definitely no longer looks the way it was two years ago as "the harsh solar radiation environment between the planets would probably have wrecked all the exposed organic materials (red paint, rubber tires, leather seats and the like), breaking the carbon bonds that hold them together. And without Earth's protective atmosphere and magnetic shielding, even the robust plastics in the windshield and carbon fiber materials would start to disintegrate. Over the course of decades or centuries, the car should be reduced to its aluminum frame and sturdiest glass parts — assuming none of them get destroyed in impacts with passing space rocks." reports Live Science website. The car itself is also blaring loud music! The Tesla Roadster is considered the fastest production car and a new one retails for about $200,000. The 2020 edition of the Roadster can go 245 miles on battery life. Safe travels Mr Mannequin Starman!

A 26-year-old North Carolina coronavirus survivor returned home Tuesday after being declared brain dead in June. She had suffered complications including strokes, which have struck other young coronavirus patients for reasons doctors don't fully understand. Doctors also don't know why some critically ill young patients who were previously healthy die while others bounce back. When Tionna Hairston stopped breathing for 30 minutes in June, her doctors pronounced her brain dead. The 26-year-old in North Carolina was diagnosed with COVID-19 in May, and subsequently suffered a stroke that led to bleeding in her brain and blood clots in her heart, the Winston-Salem Journal's Richard Craver reported. The conditions left her unable to fully use her arms and legs, and she was put on a ventilator for more than two months. She also suffered cardiac arrest and kidney and liver failure. Doctors "thought that we should take her off of life support because she had no hope for life," Hairston's mom, Stacey Peatross said, according to Rasheeda Kabba, who covered the story for multiple local outlets. "They thought she would be a vegetable. She wouldn't have any quality of life at all." They were wrong. After family, friends, and strangers prayed for her, Hairston began improving. She entered rehab for more than a month, where she relearned basic activities of daily living, like eating and getting dressed. On Tuesday, she walked out of the hospital to continue rehab at home. She had been in medical care for 137 days. "My faith in God and the fact that I wanted to walk again" allowed her to survive, Hairston said. While she's not fully recovered — she walks with a walker and has some memory loss — her doctors praised her recovery and the lessons it can teach others. First, people should know "20-somethings can get very sick from COVID and COVID complications," Dr. James McLean, director of the Novant rehabilitation hospital in Winston-Salem, told Craver. "It's not just older folks." The other lesson is that Hairston "demonstrated that human spirit, that little flame inside that keeps us going, shows us that people can overcome things that we could never imagine." Doctors have been concerned to see strokes in young people with no prior history of strokes and, in some cases, mild or even asymptomatic COVID. In May, five young New Yorkers with COVID-19 were admitted to the hospital with life-threatening "large-vessel" strokes, or those caused by a blood clot that travels from the body into an artery in the brain, Business Insider's Aylin Woodward previously reported. Doctors don't yet understand exactly how COVID-19 influences stroke risk, but it may have to do with blood clots, which have appeared in other parts of coronavirus patients' bodies, like the lungs and legs. COVID-19 has also been linked to a range of other neurological issues, including delirium, brain fog, and memory lapses. Some experts have even warned of an epidemic of brain damage. "My worry is that we have millions of people with COVID-19 now. And if in a year's time we have 10 million recovered people, and those people have cognitive deficits ... then that's going to affect their ability to work and their ability to go about activities of daily living," Adrian Owen, a neuroscientist at Western University in Canada, told Reuters. It's unclear why some young critically ill patients who were previously healthy recover and others die, but Hairston is not the only success story. Michael Goldsmith, a 34-year-old husband and father in New Jersey, was in a medically-induced coma and on a ventilator for 22 days while fighting a severe case of COVID-19. At the same time, his family and community advocated for access to the drug remdesivir, which they thought might be his only chance of survival. He never got the drug, but recovered, and doctors don't know why. After returning home, Goldsmith told Insider he cherished simple moments like snuggling with the family while watching TV. "It's the little things that you hope for, and I would say 'you dream about,'" Michael said, "but after going through the coma, I don't know for sure that was the case." Its confusing sir. Different stories from different angles. |
V7Place Original Content What exactly is going on in Nigeria? Did people die in Lekki? Who sent the soldiers there? Why is Buhari silent? Is Tinubu a target of hate? Has Buhari gone to the US? Did Tinubu run to Paris? Where is Lucy? Who killed her? What happens next? Is anything even happening or is all this some manipulation by a mastermind? The anger in me when I watched the videos from Lekki was uncontrollable; seeing the young lady called Lucy alive and well in the evening and then what is portrayed as her dead body hours later, brought up indescribable sorrow. Then hours later, I get messages from a trusted friend saying , "no one was killed, the picture of a man carrying the bloodied corpse of his sister was from a play" A play?!!!! Whatttt? Then a man described as being shot to death said he was alive. " Nothing happened, at least no one was shot, just people injured in a stampede" the friend said. Then the Governor and Chief law officer of the State said same thing "No one died". No one died and flags were to flown at half mast? I don't understand again. Why did the Vice President then say victims of Lekki would get justice and Pastor Adeboye chime in too? What victims? So where did the soldiers at Lekki seen firing into the air come from? Are they part of the troop movements expected earlier in the day? If yes, why were all other deployments of troops seemingly sensible decent soldiers talking calmly to the people? Or were these soldiers a detachment that were supposedly guarding Oriental Hotel and as someone said trying to prevent the protesters at the Toll Gate from marching to Oriental Hotel? If yes what are their names? Or are they rogue agents wearing army uniform? Why was one wearing a red beret in one of the videos? Do Nigerian soldiers wear red beret? Who was the soldier on top of an armored car spraying bullets like his life depended on it? Was that Lekki? Or just an old video? Who are Brigadier General Francis and Lieutenant Col Bello from Bonny Camp? Are they really soldiers of the Nigerian army? Why are Tinubu's properties being targeted? Of all places why is the Lekki Plaza the only place where mass shooting was reported? Who are the policemen seen in a video executing a wounded man on the street with a 3rd Mainland sign? And who are the plain clothed security men (police?) on another video executing another wounded man with one barking " Finish am" Really? Finish am? With all the chaos over police brutality and in broad daylight in a populated area with possibly hundreds of witnesses as if they didn't care who was watching? Who freed the prisoners in Benin? 2000 prisoners, some of them possibly rapists and robbers? Where are these prisoners now? Why were they all seemingly dressed in everyday clothes? Wouldn't prisoners who suddenly escaped still be in prison uniform? Then another set of prisoners set free in Ondo? To do what? To go where? If not to kill, steal and destroy? And what's with the audio messages from Nnamdi Kanu giving instructions to go after Sanwo Olu, Tinubu and Governor Ikpeazu ? What did Governor Sanwo Olu mean by "Forces beyond our direct control " What forces? From where? Abuja? Tinubu? Boko Haram? Defense Headquarters? Buhari? Where is the family of Lucy? When will her burial hold? Can someone give a memorial speech to this young patriot? Someone who knew her? Did Soldiers really take away bodies of the dying and dead? Who took the pictures of the dead we saw? Why were cameras removed from the Lekki Toll Plaza? Or Maybe they are not cameras, but Infra Red cameras? The country is burning or its not? People are dying or they are not?.It can't be both. 7 years ago there was the story of 80 dead bodies floating in Ezu river in Anambra; it was a gory sight. It soon became a forgotten story. Three years later, we heard of hundreds of Shite protesters killed including 3 children of the leader. We were told that almost a 1000 Shites were killed and given mass burials. The story has been largely forgotten and every one moved on. Now we have stories and see videos of people being killed and the next day, some of the killed say they are alive. It's becoming confusing. It's becoming scary. It's becoming chaotic or is it planned chaos. Who is in control? Where are the hundreds of thousands of soldiers and policemen to protect the citizenry? Or have they become offended by the ENDSARS protest? Is this a new beginning or an end? Or the end? Answers are needed and quickly too! Joshua contributed from Lagos. Who is the security official coordinating thugs in Abuja. He has been seen in at least three locations in Abuja today with a Prado SUV with no license plate that looks like government issued. In all three locations he was seen coordinating and giving instructions to the thugs. In one instance some thugs got into the Prado. In another instance the vehicle was moving as he stood by the door, meaning someone else was driving. The man has on the dark suits common with DSS and plain clothed security men. His confidence and boldness makes him look like someone acting on "orders from above". Read More: https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=367.0

Recent events in Ondo State is making it look like it just might be better to not allow deputy Governors contest against their Governors whilst still occupying the Office. In elections, its usually the Governor or President that is elected, If the Deputy decides to contest against his or boss, then maybe they should resign first. The Ondo State Governor is already complaining and asking for his estranged deputy to resign. https://v7place.com/index.php?topic=277

? Already executed? The nation was still waiting for a decision. So basically the meeting ended around 5pm and the order was given to execute; no last meal nor final goodbyes.
