Former Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut for the club was so impressive it actually caused him(Ferguson)problems.

Ronaldo joined Man United from his home club, Sporting Lisbon at 18 back then in 2003 after previously wowing Ferguson in a friendly match between the two clubs.

The Portugal international played his first game for Manchester United as a substitute in a 4–0 home win over Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League on the opening day of the season as he came on for Nicky Butt [color=#d7e0c9].[/color]

Ferguson said he was keen on easing the youngster into league football but added the Portuguese’s performance against Bolton left fans wanting more and left him[Ferguson)debating whether he should bench him again the following week.

“I’ll always remember that when we had the discussion, I think what I wanted to impress upon his agent, in particular, was that he won’t play every game, but if he’s so good, I can’t stop him. You always play your best players,” Ferguson said, according to Metro.

“For the opening game of the season, he was a substitute, came on and was absolutely fantastic. The crowd was magnificent. The crowd loved it.

“Here we had a situation. Do I play him the next game? Or do I put him back on the bench? That’s a big problem.”

The young Portuguese was kept on the bench for the next game against Newcastle and had to wait another eight matches before scoring his first goal for United in a 3-0 win over Newcastle.

A former Minister of Education, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, has been given an international appointment.

The former Minister is now a member of the Board of Directors of Nexford University, Washington D.C., United States.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the online university.

The university said the former minister’s appointment was due to her deep experience in creating sustainable value and driving strategy in the education sector.

Ezekwesili was appointed alongside other education experts and industry leaders, such as the Ex-McKinsey Senior Partner, Driek Desmet.

The school pointed to the track records and proven leadership in the strategy of Oby Ezekwesili and the others as the reason for the appointments. [color=#d7e0c9]Cleaning Services In Nigeria[/color]

“They also follow Nexford’s successful $10.8m pre-Series A in June 2021 and a major partnership with Sterling Bank, one of Nigeria’s largest commercial banks, in August 2021,” it added.

The Chief Executive Officer of Nexford University, Fadl Al Tarzi, said, “We are delighted to welcome Driek and Oby to the board.”

Tarzi pointed out that the deep experience of Oby Ezekwesili in creating long-term value, driving strategy and knowledge of the education sector will be invaluable to the next stage of Nexford’s growth journey.

On her part, Ezekwesili said, “Having been on Nexford University’s advisory board, I am delighted to now join its Board of Directors to help advance the mission of this innovation-pioneering institution that is setting the pace in the delivery of world-class affordable education and producing high-quality talent at scale.”

Oby Ezekwesili is the coordinator of the Bring Back Our Girl, BBOG, campaign, a group that came into existence after over 100 schoolgirls were abducted from their boarding school in Chibok, Borno State, in 2014 by members of the Boko haram terrorist group.

Former Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has insisted that he rejected advice from officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, when he was in charge of the Nigeria national team.

The NFF sacked Rohr from his role last Sunday and appointed former Eagles captain, Augustine Eguavoen, on interim basis pending the appointment of a permanent boss.

Speaking with ESPN, Rohr revealed he didn’t follow some of the suggestions of the officials because he wanted to make players’ selection with his technical staff and not with people from outside the team. [color=#d7e0c9]Cleaning Services In Nigeria[/color]

“I know Nigerians are passionate about football and everyone has their own favorites and I understand that everybody wants to see some players and we discussed it,” Rohr said.

“I had a lot of suggestions. I understand that officials want us to do well, everyone wants to bring in their advice and opinion, but it was too much.”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he will launch his own social media platform, TRUTH Social, according to a press release by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).

Trump’s new social network is set to launch a beta version in November, which will be available to invited guests only. Its national rollout is expected in the first quarter of 2022, the press release said.

Trump signaled his aspirations to create a rival social media platform after he was kicked off from several social media platforms. Earlier this year, major social media firms including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, banned or suspended Trump for violating their policies following the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said in the statement.

Trump said that the company’s mission is to create “a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the Big Tech companies.”

TRUTH Social app will be launched through a new company formed by a merger of the Trump Media and Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp, listed on the Nasdaq, as per its statement.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has appealed to politicians to avoid ‘do or die’ politics, berating ex-governors who still cause troubles in their State.

The group said this in its message to Muslims in Nigeria to mark this year’s birthday (Maolud an-Nabiyy) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Maolud message was released by the group’s leader, Professor Ishaq Akintola on Tuesday.

He said, “The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) felicitates with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa‘ad Abubakar, the Nigerian Muslim community as well as all Nigerian citizens and foreigners on the occasion of the 2021 (1443 AH) anniversary of the birth of the noblest man that ever lived, Muhammad the son of Abdullahi (SAW).

“We seize the opportunity of this august occasion to appeal to Nigerian politicians to eschew ‘do or die’ politics.

“The body language of our politicians in recent times is not encouraging, particularly after the recent party congresses held all over the country. Desperation, greed and avarice is still boldly written on the foreheads of our politicians.

“It cuts across the political parties. Parallel congresses are held in almost all of the states and in almost all the parties. The exercise so far manifests gross desertification of the spirit of sportsmanship, statesmanship, patriotism and sacrifice.

“Why are ex-governors breathing down the necks of sitting governors? Where is the spirit of living and letting live? What did the ex-governors forget in the state houses? Whatever achievement or failure registered during the tenure of a former governor is his own story and score card.

“No ex-governor has the right to take more than one ‘last look at the Moor’. Cast your last look at the government house as you pack your belongings out of it at the end of your tenure and wish your successor well. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case as most of our ex-governors fight tooth and nail to retain control of the political architecture of the states.

“Worse still, gunmen are hired to disrupt political gatherings. The fact that our politicians still believe in thuggery and hooliganism as a means of settling scores and achieving their political ambitions indicate that we are still playing Stone Age politics.

“MURIC charges Nigerian politicians to learn from Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the master of the arts of persuasion and dialogue. Though he lived as a fugitive in Makkah for several years, he returned to liberate the city from the clutches of his oppressors without a single sword leaving the scabbard.

“Though a complete alien in Madinah, its inhabitants welcomed him with pomp and pageantry. Nigerian politicians will disarm their opponents without firing a single shot if only they will emulate this great man, Muhammad. We therefore challenge our politicians to find time to learn about him. We have no iota of doubt that the Nigerian political architecture will never be the same again if they can do so.”

Ten years ago today on my 50th birthday we had our renewal of vows in Freedom Park on Lagos Island. Pastor Tony Rapu remarried us..Sir J and I. Six pastors were also part of the team that officiated. In the congregation was my Mum Dr (Mrs) Abimbola Silva. She had taken a wine and white Ankara as aso ebi for the family. My aunties Mrs Gbemi Rosiji,Aunty Olga Miller,Aunty Fracesca Emmanuel were all there. All of them in their 80s...all of them now on the otherside of eternity. My almost twin sister Bisi was also there. She too is on the otherside of eternity. With my Dad and my late daughter. I believe that's what happens the older we get...the more milestones we hit. Memories of those we have loved and lost. However being on this side of eternity is soo good too. Challenging ...definitely especially the last 5years. Wawoo. A massive thank you to my sons Soji @mrjacobs_jnr and Gbenga @oj_poetry , my daughter Blessing @_blessing_douglas and grandaughter Dayo @atarahbaby for making these years bearable. Also my staff...Paulina,Micheal,John. Without this team this last 5years would have been impossible. Now the big 60 is here and I thank God for His oh so massive mercies. Yes that's it.
