my landlord took me and 15 others to a security company.
the manager of the company had told him that each of us should come along with a 2000drms per.

to hasten the Visa processing since they are about to stop employing naijas .

I had to borrow 1k from friends to add to my 1k from home.

on getting there, we met a LOCAL and he told us "point blank" that
Nigerians, Pakistanis,Yemen Bangladesh citizens are not allowed anymore.


we submitted our cvs and left, along the way home, I asked him about a hotel he told me about.

he asked if I can work in the middle of nowhere?
I told him "as long as its legal and salary is paid".
he used his phone to call someone.


he then took me with 2 others to Rasakama (another state from Dubai ).he said, the manager told him to bring only 3 people.
it's a very BIG hotel/resort centre in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water.
and it's almost ready for operation.
it's like two and half hours journey.
we met with a British man who interviewed us one after the other.
I was the last person to be interviewed.
after my interview with him I was already happy to go out of his office when he told me to wait a moment.
he called someone on the phone and another British man came in.
the first man told him to take me to an empty office for cross examination.




Na for there fear come enter my heart.!!!!
because this other man no dey laff at all.

he interviewed me for 15minutes and after verifying and making copies of all my credentials, he told me that I must get rid of my beard.

I said no problem SIR.

after cross examination of the others,we we're told to wait for some time.


we were called to the hrm office to sign an offer letter.
2 of us got security Job.the 3rd person did not do so well, so he was given a house keeping position.

basic salary for security is 1400dirs ,house keeping is 900dirs.
health, feeding, accommodation and transportation is on the company.

plus other unspecified benefits /bonuses.

we are to exit the country to naija before processing of Visa.

one way ticket will be sent along with the Visa.


this is my testimony.

I hereby write to thank/appreciate every member of this wonderful forum for your support and encouragement.

it so happened that I was given an offer of employment after a very serious interview.

I signed my offer letter some minutes after the interview.

I just got back now.

At least you wrote so in your privious post, if that is correct so why will your agent be asking you for money for extension if he actually did a two months visa for you. As per your rent issue, stay calm you will get a job before then and if not you can ask home to send you a little cash to cover that on t'he interim till u get a job. As per your ticket issue it dosent kalax {expire} completely, all u need do when ever you wish to return to nigeria u will just pay chekere fine { small fine} to etihad like 100 dollars or so and your return ticket will be reactivated. Abeg look on t'he bright side and refire t'he valentony zeal to excel. Go out there and prosper, we care about you.

it is true he told me it's a two months Visa.
but, I was surprised when he called me to ask how far with Job search.
I told him of the places I submitted my cv s to.
he asked me when my Visa will expire

and I said, it will expire in another month and a weeks time.

he Now asked if I thought it's a two months Visa direct, that I will have to extend it for another month.
I told him I have no money as he did not tell me all this before I left naija.



I said, but I paid you 100k and you even told me it's the money for a two months Visa.
samething he even told me when he sent the Visa.



now, he has sent me a message on facebook to give him my kpali
and ticket to help me to extend it.

I called him immediately to ask him why I will need to give him my kpali and ticket before he could extend my Visa.

he said, it's what he does for a living.


but the fool did not realize that through my nairaland Family and Dubai grapevine,i was able to gather information on Dubai Visa types,extension and more.


what I learnt was that,if your Visa is Dubai and it's extendable ;
all your Agent will do is to go online and extend without your kpali or ticket

1.my Agent told me to remind me of the fact that my Visa is about to expire and the money for extension.

2.my Landlord is telling me to remember that my house rent($200) will expire on the 27th.

3.my ticket will kalax on the 25th of the month.

depends.

a company can hire you as a driver. especially, if you have an international drivers license + uae drivers license (very expensive).
most company will not hire You without them,especially the uae drivers license.

but, public transport is a no no !!!
the system here has a very good transportation network.

I have cv for security guard,conciege,waiter,office boy, general work,food and beverage supervisor and two others that I cannot remember right now.

there are jobs actually but our fellow country men are the ones working together with the Indians to charge us before the job.

I have the same ambition as yours, I did some photography courses back in school and I practiced as a professional photographer for sometime before I left the country.
I even sold my DSLR camera last year to invest in some projects.

I asked around and was told that it's easier to work with them if I already have a few months emirate experience.

things are not really the way you view it.
to start with, I went with my room mate (the one I met on the plane).
we met others around the venue and we had to wait till the said time for the interview.
that is why we were together at the time.
even after the interview, we had to take taxi to the metro station together to save cost since we are headed in the same direction.

again, I know that most of us were graduate because everyone of us were talking about the requirements for that particular Job.
so,an engineer amongst us mention his qualifications and every one else started doing the same.

in Dubai,if you try and move alone, you will suffer alone.
'cos,people carry people along to make progress here.


again, this is not naija. where a tree can always make a demi-forest.

if you think it's a big mess up that I was truthful to the man, then l don't think you know that....
1.if I had told him that we can do it, the first thing he will ask is our cv's.
2.after that, he will give you a chance to practicalize what you just told him you can do. ( opportunity to disgrace your self ).
3.this people don't bend the rules like we do.
whatever they want, they go for. no in-between or let me manage.

and finally, I paint rooms back in my school days just to make extra cash.
so,i told him I had some experience in painting.
he said: no way he wants a professional car painter.

I also told him that we can learn on the job or he should give us a week training and he said no.... I want someone..... work now.
I said, so you don't want to train us abi?

I just did not mention all this earlier because its a long story and I was only trying to point out that people with professional handwork are easily employable.

we met a white man after our interview yesterday .he specializes in pimping exotic rides ....
he asked us where we were going .
I told him that we are going to submit our cv's for jobs
. he asked what kind of Job and I said ,any Job .
he asked ,can You paint, weld, repair car/tyre?

we said no.
he said ,what can You do?
I said ,we are graduates, we can do office work .
he said ;no ,I want people that can work with their hands.


that was my first experience .
second one,coming..

for those that wants to come to Dubai.
please, try to learn a handy work.
works like barbing, hairdressers, Tailors, Carpenters, painters, mechanics,panel beaters, welders ,Bricklayers and any major hand work.

but if you don't have,please try and learn some simple handwork like barbing or hairdressing or some other that is easy to learn.

it's true that emrill is recruiting.
I got here Tuesday and on Thursday we went to emrill for interview but was told that the interview is an internal one. we were told to come the following week which is today.
unfortunately,today is a work free day in Dubai.

good morning to my Igwe,Loorlo,the Chiefs and the council of elders on here.
we went for the second interview today and after everything, the oga @ the top gave us the following conditions.......
1.basic salary is no more 900 but 700drms.
2.no holiday or off periods for 2 years.
3.you can't leave until after 2 years.
4.after two years,you will be given an equivalent of two months salary (approximately 35k x 2).
5.we should come and work with them for ten days trial period before they can start processing our documents.
6.after the work hours, You must go straight to accommodation so that you can easily be reached.
7.no feeding allowance and you can't cook because the Bangladesh they employed are the ones cooking. we can eat with them and pay some money or we eat at a hotel nearby.
and according to him, it's expensive.
8.he also said that they are not assuring us of any job even after the ten days trial period because it's getting more difficult to give the green kpali holders work permit.


my elders, as you can see that we are between the devil and the blue sea.
what should we do?

pack our bags and go or what.........

that early morning,we set out to drop our cvs to the links we got the previous day.
after submitting to like seven companies,we met some fellow countrymen (two very young lady and a guy).
after the normal greetings,we started asking them how far?
but we noticed that the guy with them was not in any mood to talk to us.
i called one of the girls aside and asked her.
she told me that they are waiting for the agent to come and take them there.

i explained our situation to her and she told me how the guy they were waiting went for interview and he was told to direct more nigerians to fill up the vacancy.
but instead of this,he turned himself into an agent and started collecting 1000drms from fellow nigerians.

this are the people that works mostly with an insider of a company concerning job vacancy for which money will be paid.

i did an interview yesterday and was told to await an invitation to the head hrm himself by wednesday.
but i discovered its not a free zone job.......

i paid $200 and my friend paid $200 as well.

my experience yesterday......

went out very early yesterday with fellow job

sorry for the delay and my method of replying.
my phone has simply refused to be configured.

i entered dubai with around $600.
after calling my agent for 45minutes without response,i decided to follow one of the guys i met on the plane(lest i be stranded @ the airport).
some showed us the metro station and how to buy a pre loaded bus card for around 20/25drms.
we boarded and went to palm deire.
his contact told him to go to Adagaya hotel,behind london city hotel.
there we were when my agent called and arranged for someone to come and pick me up to my accomodation.
another 1hr,the person came and took me to a room in deira.
the room was well dis-organised with 4 bunks and bags and clothes everywhere.
the guy that took me to the room then asked me to pay for my space $200 non negotiable.
i asked him,where is my space and he pointed to a bed with a bag and clothes on it.
i asked him about the bag and clothes and he said the person will sleep on the floor with some others.
i excused myself to the toilet..........and when i got back i told him i have only $150 but he refused.
told him i will go borrow some money from my friend to complete the money.

that was how i,my friend and his contact came to shajar area to rent a room for just the three of us for now @ the same rate of $200per month.

i had a terrible experienced yesterday and i will like to share it here later.

I m so very sorry for the lack of infor from me....
my tecno n3 has refused to be configured for browsing despite all my effort to get online immediately i landed.

to the main gist.
i flew rwanda air and i went directly to their office in marina lagos and the price is approximately 99k directly.its around $627.

VISA
is not cheap at all.infact i was not happy with the person that did it for me.100k is what i paid for a 2month visa.
i left on monday evening(4.30pm).
we were less than 20 passengers on the plane.
stopped over in rwanda around 8:30pm and continued around 12.15am.this time the plane was bigger,better and filled up.

we got to dubai around 8.30am.

Dubai.
hmmmmmmm........so much to say about dubai,but lets start with the most important infor.
majority of the people here dont have self pity.instead they will find ways to cheat you out of the little you have.
the last time i said,that dubai is now more competitive than it use to be.the reason is non other.

some nigerians over here have shown that talent of giving the green passport holders a bad image.
now,some companies dont want to have anything to do with nigerians.
according to them,after getting the 2years permit some will run off and its mostly nigerians that does that.

instead of a fellow country man to connect you to get job,they will tell you to pay from 700dr and some people pay as much as 3000k dr just to secure a job.this agent works together with the indians incharge of employment.

i got a carwash link,the person incharge does not want blacks.
i got a delivery job but could not ride okada.

if you have a talent,you can come down to.dubai and be employed.......
but please,try and come with enough money.
sooooo.....much gist about this place but no time cos i still dey find work.
