A religious celebration was marred by tragedy this week as a man participating in a traditional Islamic mourning ritual accidentally beheaded himself.

Mohammed Sayum was displaying his prowess at swordsmanship in the Nalanda district of Bihar, in east India, as part of a ritual procession known as the Mourning of Muharram. According to reports, Sayum, 60, accidentally cut his own neck and was rushed to Sadar Hospital, but died from loss of blood before he arrived.

The accident sparked chaos in the area, according to the news site Swarajya, where hundreds of others were also observing the ritual procession. Sayum’s son, Mohammad Feroz, told police he witnessed the incident.

Police in Bihar are still investigating and sent Sayum’s body for an autopsy.

Muharram is considered one of the most sacred months of the Islamic calendar. The Mourning of Muharram, or Muharram Observances, is a commemoration honoring the death of Imam Hussain Ali, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and third Imam of the Shiite community, who was killed by the Caliph Yazid’s army in 680 AD at the battle of Karbala. For Shiite Muslims, Imam Hussain’s death is symbolic of the struggle against tyranny and injustice.

Observances of the Muharram procession vary, but traditionally involve a march from the Hussainia (congregation hall) into the streets, where participants light bonfires and partake in acts of self-flagellation, cutting, chest-beating and face-slapping. Some devotees visit the shrine to Imam Hussain in Karbala in modern-day Iraq.

Fatal accidents and violence have long plagued Muharram commemorations: On Tuesday, at least 31 people were killed in a stampede in Karbala, with 100 more injured. According to the AP, the stampede started when a walkway collapsed.

The same day, 20 people were injured watching a Muharram procession in Andhra Pradesh, in southeast India, when the roof they were standing on collapsed at about 2 a.m. Police report the victims were viewing the Pedda Saragathi ritual, where devotees walk on a hot bed of coals.

Also on Tuesday, a man in Uttar Pradesh was electrocuted, and others wounded, when a tazia they were carrying came in contact with a live electrical wire. A tazia is a replica of Imam Hussain’s tomb, carried during Muharram processions.

Days earlier, at least four people died in Karachi, Pakistan, when a tazia collided with overhead electrical cables. The incident happened on Saturday, in the Bhittaiabad neighbourhood of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In 2004, bombings at shrines in Karbala and Baghdad during the Day of Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram and the focal day for mourning, killed 140 people.

Trust them,they won't take this one serious too.

Entering people houses to kidnapp them have started since last year...me think maybe the kidnappers are trying to fine tune the operation before they start mass kidnapping people from their home..!!

Israel's military has said it thwarted an "imminent" Iranian attack involving killer drones. The announcement came unusually quickly on the heels of the airstrikes. President Benjamin Netanyahu had strong words for Iran.

Israel's military said in the early hours of Sunday morning that its fighter jets had attacked targets in Syria on Saturday in order to prevent what it described as a "very imminent" drone attack launched by Iran.
While Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against Iranian targets in Syria over the past years, Saturday's appeared to be one of the most intense.

Killer drones stopped

In a briefing to reporters, military Spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said that Iran had been planning to send explosive-laden attack drones into Israel.

He added that the country had been monitoring the plot for several months and on Thursday had prevented Iran from an even earlier launch.

"The threat was significant and these killer drones were capable of striking targets with significant capacity," Conricus said. He described it as an attack planned from the top down rather than a low level attack.

Conricus said Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Al Quds force, as well as allied Shiite militias, were behind the attempted attack.

He added that the Israeli strikes were aimed at "a number of terror targets and military facilities belonging to the Quds force as well as Shiite militias" in the area southeast of Damascus.   

Iran supports the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad and Israel wants to prevent Iran from establishing a permanent foothold in Syria, where its Shiite proxy Hezbollah increasingly operates in support of Assad's government forces.

Conricus said that Israel's chief of staff was meeting with senior officers and that military forces were on high alert near the border with Syria.

Major airstrike, fast response

In the past Israel has not been quick to announce its airstrikes. However, the military announced Saturday's strikes very shortly after they took place.

Immediately after the military's announcement, President Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted a statement on the operation. He described the Israeli airstrikes as a "major operational effort" and warned that Iran would not be immune from Israeli strikes, regardless of location.

"Iran has no immunity anywhere," he added in his Tweet. "If someone rises up to kill you, kill him first."

The airstrikes triggered Syrian anti-aircraft fire. Syrian state TV reported that air defenses had responded to "hostile" targets over Damascus and shot down incoming missiles but did not provide further details.

Controversial Ghanaian relationship counsellor, Charlotte Oduro has made claims of baby showers being an invitation to witches..

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Charlotte alleged that Africans are copying foreign things and living their lives like God doesn’t exist again.

“When ladies marry these days they do not think about prayer. They think about the bridesmaids they will get, the best men they will get and later the baby shower…I don’t know where that thing is coming from. Now we are picking the foreign things and we inviting witches around”, she said.

“We are putting Christ aside and we are living our lives that is why we are seeing what we are seeing because we think God doesn’t exist again. We think we have our right to do what we are doing…my dear before you came to this world God was already there”, she added.

What is she saying, is the Christ character itself not foreign?
