tinsel: The Association of Drivers of Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana in Kogi State has directed all its members to boycott the transportation of cement to the South-East region of Nigeria.
The association said the decision was taken over the security situation in the region and in Akwa Ibom state in the South-South region.
A memo dated December 11, 2022, and sent by the drivers’ association to the company, said, “We kindly write this short notice to the company that we are returning some waybills of the southeast state Nigeria that we driver (sic) are not going to some part (sic) of southeast Nigeria due to ongoing situation of the site Nigeria those part (sic) of southeast they are as follows: 1. Enugu, 2. Anambra, 3. Abia, 4. Imo, 5. Ebonyi, 6. Akwa Ibom.”
Criminals enforcing sit-at-home orders in the South-East have in the past burnt trucks belonging to Dangote Cement and reportedly killed some of the company’s drivers.
This comes a few days after the leadership of some Northern groups involved in commercial activities between the North and South-East zone directed commodity traders and truck drivers to shun the zone over the incessant killing of their members by gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Coordinator of the Northern Consensus Forum, Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu said they declared a warning strike due to the constant killing of the northerners in the South East, adding that not less than 100 northerners were murdered in the zone within a week.
Aliyu claimed that the strike had started to have a good effect and that security agencies, northern state governors, and residents in the impacted zone had all been informed.
“We have blocked the roads linking the North to the East ranging from Benue, Nasarawa, Kwara and Plateau states among others, and the truck drivers are cooperating with us,” he had said.

I am doing some underground work for the success of Asiwaju as President and for the APC, that is why I have not been following the campaign train up and down. I may not be following Asiwaju up and down, but what I’m doing is far above what the eye can see. “Come 2023, we will record a landslide victory,” he expressed confidence. Gov Bello described Seyi Tinubu as his my “junior brother”, saying “I am the first born of Asiwaju.” Earlier, Seyi who is also in Kogi to distribute reach out to recent flood victims said Kogi is amongst the States identified by the group to visit and support. He appreciated Bello for accepting them, while also thanking the Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja, for joining them in Lagos to show his support during the walk.

wwwihy: Leader of Labour Party in Olamaboro council area of Kogi State, Mr. David Ameh, has left the party and led 2000 of his supporters into the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Hon. Ameh and his supporters were received by the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja in Okpo headquarters of the council area along other defectors from other political parties who joined the ruling APC in the state.
Speaking during a rally held at the local government square, Okpo, the leader of the defectors, who is the funder and political leader of Labour Party in the local government, said he was an ‘intensed political arch-enemy’ of the deputy governor whom he had confronted at several fora.
“But having sat down and did a comprehensive analysis of the political trends in the country, I have realized that the Labour party was not going to have a meaningful headway in the 2023 polls and I have therefore decided to pitch my tents along with my numerous supporters with the ruling party.”
Receiving the defectors, the deputy governor who was elated, said he was happy that the defectors eventually saw the ‘light of the day’ saying he remained unprovoked inspite of the consistent attacks of Ameh and his supporters against him and the ruling party.
Onoja while rolling out the whole lots of achievements recorded by the Yahaya Bello administration, said he was more elated when Ameh himself confessed that when he came closer to him, he found out that he was not what he was fed with and therefore declared to work with him.
He, however, assured that Kogi state stands to benefit hugely if the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is elected, “He (Tinubu) is the most notable politician in Africa who has the capacity to fix the economy and transform the country.”
The deputy governor therefore call on the people of the state and indeed all Nigerians to come out enmass and vote for Tinubu and all the APC candidates in the forthcoming general election.

ExAngel007: The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has declared wanted 19 suspected terrorists while placing a bounty of N5 million on each of them.
The names of the suspected terrorists are contained in a poster released by Jimmy Akpor, director of defence information, on Monday.
The wanted terrorists are said to have been terrorising Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
The DHQ promised to reward anyone who has information that could lead to the arrest of one of the suspected terrorists with the sum of N5 million.
Ado Aliero, a suspected bandit leader, who was turbaned in July 2022 as Sarkin Fulani in Zamfara is one of the wanted terrorists.
Aliero was given the chieftaincy title despite being on the police’s wanted list since 2019.
The chieftaincy title sparked criticism – a development which prompted Bello Matawalle, governor of Zamfara, to suspend the emir who awarded the title to Aliero
Speaking in a documentary released by BBC Africa Eye in July, the self-confessed bandit kingpin said he does not kidnap people, adding that he only kills those who have been kidnapped by his gang members.
He added that his gang invades villages as a form of protest against the government.

The budget which is over N45 billion higher than the N196 billion budget in 2022 is tagged budget of Consolidation and Prosperity II.
Presenting the budget before the State House of Assembly, Ganduje said the capital expenditure is N144billion representing 59 per cent while over N100billion representing 41 per cent for recurrent expenditure.
