EPISODE 15 (contd.)

'All of you, up with your hands,' the short, barrel chested leader of the cannibals barked at us.

I quickly leaned over to Fabianus and whispered in his left ear;

'What do we do now?'

'We'll do what we are told,' he whispered back.

'What do you mean by that?' I asked in surprise

'We were ordered to stand up, let's do that.'

'I don't get you o,' I said earnestly. 'Won't you deal with these ones like those fellas in Ne....'

'I said "up with your hands", are you deaf?' the Cannibal leader interrupted me.

Fabianus and the two Knights scrambled to their feet and raised their hands high over their heads. I followed suit, abi who am I to sit where the great jazzman Fabianus was standing?

'Boss, I don't we need to hunt anything again tonight,' One of the Cannibals said to their dwarfish leader. 'This ones are enough for our supper.'

... Na your papa dem go take do supper. Oloshi...

'Gabbus, are you alright at all?' the leader queried. 'Have you forgotten that we have been paid to get them?'

'Sorry boss,' Gabbus apologised.

'Fine,' the leader remarked. 'Now boys, let's go to work. Take them to the Cave.'

The Cannibals dispossesed us of our weapons, blindfolded us and dragged us to a small dusty Cave with our hands tied.

'Do you want them to kill us? Do something na,' I said to Fabianus, immediately we were left alone, locked in the cave.

'My hands are tied,' Fabianus replied.

'Oh, but you knew you'll need your hands to free us. Why didn't you act before we were tied?'

'That's not what I meant. I mean there is nothing I can do, the gods have instructed me not to do anything because they have their plans for us.'

... Make the gods no fall our hands o. I too small to die now...

I sat back against the wall as I tried unsuccessfully to blank out the intruding images of us being mutilated by the cannibals from my mind.

'Who do you think is the brains behind our capture?' A voice, which I presumed to be Castor's because of its huskiness, asked.

'Justus of course. No one else.....'

Fabianus' reply was cut short by a series of loud shouts that came from outside the cave. It was as if there was commotion outside.

'What is that again o?' I asked Fabianus.

'Don't ask me any questions again jor. I be like google for your eyes?' Fabianus retorted. 'Just open your ears well, you'll hear what is happening.'

I listened carefully and very soon, I could hear the shout of some men crying in pain, others yelling at each other, while the sound of clashing swords could also be heard.

After a very long time, the shouts ceased and there was utter silence.

GBOOOAAA!!!

That was the sound of the makeshift door of the cave being kicked opened. I quickly inched backwards for the fear of getting the shaft first. Yes, Naija no dey carry last but no this time.

'Marcus, the blindfolds,' a vaguely familiar voice said.

In the next moment, the fold blinding my eyes was removed and I looked up to see a tall, heavily built man standing before us, with his hair, face, armour and sword covered in blood.

'Hector!' Fabianus and the two Knights exclaimed.

'We were told you were still in Athens. How come you are here?' Castor asked.

'We got tired sitting and waiting in Athens, so we came looking for you people. Iebanehitus told us where to find you,' Hector explained.

'Have you heard the news about Casvillé?' Bryan asked.

'No,' answered Fabianus 'What news is that?'

'The land is under Justus' siege,' Bryan told him.

Hector shook his head slightly and frowned.

'If you are still calling that news, then It means you haven't heard the latest development,' Hector said to us.

'Tell us.'

'Justus and his men have destroyed the city wall, all the houses in the southern region have been razed. All the people in that region are being held prisoner by him.'

'Whaaaaat?' I heard Fabianus exclaim, but I was too shocked to open my mouth.

'Yes,' Hector reaffirmed. 'We must get that dragon as soon as possible to prevent the rest of the land from falling into Justus' hands.'

'True. we must get that dragon quickly,' Bryan said.

'How close are we to the dragon's place?' I asked.

'We are very close. It's just few minutes ride away from here,' Fabianus replied.
